well, of course it is, looking at the video you sent. I think no power nurse could beat them

Waiting for second video, against good survivors, as you said

As I wrote to another dude, that was kinda the point with posting the video. Just beating them down and killing them right away just because they were easy would be no fun at all.

I had one somewhat challenging match yesterday, but I was also quite drunk so I was not at my best ๐Ÿ˜œ Had another earlier today which could have been challenging, but the survivors messed it up by 3 of them running around with flashlights trying to keep me busy while only one worked gens. They were good at looping and them flashlights, but that does not help when gens are going nowhere :p

I'll post you one after the weekend, as I will be busy during the weekend ๐Ÿ˜‰

Holy jesus no wonder you can follow this rules, your survivors are below bot level. Yeah I would say killer is easy too if my opponents were like this, man aint no way those people are real.

That was a chill match yes, which is kinda the point why I posted it. I could have taken them down very early on, but that would be very boring.

Having standards for yourself is fine, though I would avoid trying to enforce it onto other people.

I can't force anyone to do anything.

I do however think killers that camp and tunnell are very weak and low life killers. If they need to use those low skill tactics to win.

(And I'm not a very impressive survivor, so me dying to low level killers is on me. And me thinking that matches against killers like that is not very fun is also on me ๐Ÿ‘ It is more fun to play against killers with a more interesting play style, even if I lose. I've GG'd many killers that have killed me, when they have been actually good, instead of being a camper/tunneler with no skills)

Good for you I guess. Many killer players don't have constant easy games though, they have games against good survivors who can loop well and focus heavily on doing gens as quickly as possible. Against teams like that you need to use all the tools at your disposal, and that includes the 'meaner' ones.

Oh, I don't always have easy matches. I have rougher ones as well, which is great. I love me a challenge.

Most matches are still very easy tho, even against the more difficult survivors. It is very rare that I have to break my rules to get control of a match.

I had a group yesterday that was very impressive, was fun, and then I won.

  • I am pleasing myself with these rules, instead of just killing off survivors as fast as I can. Which would be much less fun matches, with a lot less BP.

  • Ain't no handicap in that for me. Game is too easy playing a killer, I can't remember the last time that I did not have control of a match.

Ironically I feel like you letting them go is the reason behind this. These survivors were SO green they couldn't do basic things. The current event leading to no one touching gens also kinda invalidates this as an example of an average game.

Oh, and I'm drunk now, and I was in that match. If I ever feel like a failure in life I can always play a killer round in DbD to feel that I am able to perform somewhat good in something. It has not failed me yet.

Being a killer in DBD is too easy. Which is funny because in these forums there are tons of killers whining about how difficult it is to be a killer, and about the survivors that are so very mean.

It is not about how easy the match is. This was just an example of a match that just happened.

I had a more challenging match just after, the survivors were really good and almost had me. Which was a fun match in another way, because it was a real challenge.

I can upload that match tomorrow, as I think I got it saved (gonna sleep now). But I applauded the survivors after the match for giving me a real challenge.

  • This is what I consider a fun match:

    https://youtu.be/kn5DUdbZlAI?si=rlTv_GpfONRN1vVx

Full control is established before any gens are completed. After that it is just fun and play, having a good time.

If you can not win against tunneling and camping easy you have no skills

My survivor skills are mediocre. I am not a great survivor, I have no problems to admit that. I am a great killer, but for some reason I am not able to transfer those skills to being a good survivor.

I wonder. Do you follow your self-imposed rules because you feel it the right thing to do, or do you follow them so you can tell other people you follow them? It seems like you're just using the Codex Hamstringicus to rag on people at this point. If following those rules gives you a sense of contentment, cool beans, but the way to raise yourself up isn't to drag others down.

Lol. It would be too easy if I did not follow my codex.

If I want I can level to Red 1 within 24 hours of level reset. It is too easy to be a killer.

  • @Crowman said:

There's no reason to. It's not like your opponents are going to play in a "fair" way back. Best to take advantage of the mistakes of your opponent regardless how they might feel about it.

What is your giant list of codex rules that you follow when you play survivor?

I'm a very bad survivor, I just try to survive. And then I die.

Playing killer = Super easy. Playing survivor = Kinda hate it.

  • @HugTechLover said:

Itโ€™s really not that serious. If you donโ€™t want somebody getting the bonus, burn a personal cake.

Yeah, I only offer those kind of cakes when I play the killer (I have a stack of about 900 misus so I ain't going to run out of them anytime soon). On my survivor I have like 300 cakes/party streamers. That number will stay as it is. Aint offering them.)

  • I'm a bit late on replies/responses here. But as usual in these forums it is killers struggling with those terrible pesky survivors.

I don't play by these rules to make it easy for the survivors. I play by these rules to make it fair, and to make it more fun. I still own pretty much every match I play in.

It would be terribly boring if I did not follow a codex such as this, because it would be so simple. It's too easy to be a killer in this game.

  • @Krazzik said:

I don't handicap myself when playing killer, goodness knows survivors aren't.

Handicap??? I follow this set of rules, and still it feels like it's the survivors that are handicapped. It is so easy to be a killer in this game, it's ridiculous. Which makes it even more funny when killers whine about how terrible those pesky survivors are.

  • @H2H said:

Nope. Iโ€™m not here to give survivors an easy game, and Iโ€™m not going to deliberately play badly for their sake.

It is not about giving the survivors an easy game. I follow this set of rules, and I have had full control of every match I've been in for as long as I can remember. I follow this set of rules to be a good killer, not to make it easy for the survivors. Just fair. If they live or die, that is my choice, and I can't remember the last time when it was not my choice.

  • More:

    - No camping, unless pretty much almost all survivors are lurking around the hooked one. If all survivors are there then it makes no sense running off trying to find survivors elsewhere

    - No tunnelling, but that is kinds almost mentioned

  • I main as The Doctor, and I have full control of almost every match that I play. Sometimes I get challenging survivors, but even then I usually reach full control way before there are two gens left. Usually I have full control with 4 or 5 gens left. With full control I mean that everyone has hung twice before then.

I have not lost a match against my will for as long as I can remember, but I do however often let survivors escape because I don't really care much about the killing. I play for fun, the hunt, and the blood points (killing everyone as fast as I usually could would leave me with a lot less blood points compared to letting the match run for a longer time, even with survivors escaping)

I guess that maybe me often letting the survivors escape might affect my matchmaking, I don't know. But even so, I often enough get challenging survivors, and dealing with them is rarely a problem.

Which leads me to it being a bit funny visiting these forums, with killer mains whining endlessly about those pesky survivors that they are not able to deal with.

Only thing that I can say sucks is that I can't transfer my killer skills to survivor skills. I'm a pretty good killer, but I ain't that impressive when I play survivor. Weird thing. But that's on me, not the game ๐Ÿ˜‰โค๏ธ

  • I guess I'm toxic in my own way that I'm picky when it comes to killers, if there is a killer that tunnell or camp or just plays like a jerk (I don't care if it is me or others), I tend to go find the killer and off myself on a hook. I don't play with ######### killers.

Which often means leaving others behind, giving them worse odds.

I would find it completely fair if others would not want to share their BP offerings with me in a such a situation.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Noone would feel their offering was wasted, on either side, if they were chosen post-match, not pre-match.

I wouldn't say it's weird. No one is going to thank the killer for tunneling them out with 8k(16k) bp while the killer is swimming in 30k (60k). Perfectly reasonable to get tilted in that situation.

Thank you! I was starting to think that it was maybe just me thinking like this ๐Ÿ˜…

  • @fulltonon said:

Literally does not work, people goes salty for absolutely weird reasons.

It would literally work, such a solution would fit perfectly into a game like this. Sure thing, people go salty and some would abuse it, but it's still their bonus item.

  • @Cetren said:

It's a little weird to obsess over whether or not someone else benefits from an offering you brought. No matter what, you get your double blood points. If you're so paranoid that you might give someone extra imaginary currency when you lose, maybe a fog offering or luck offering is more your speed.

Lol, u funny guy ๐Ÿ˜Œ It would just be satisfying to refuse them to get it ๐Ÿ˜œ

Oh well, I rarely bother to play survivor these days anyways, killer is way easier and more fun, it just suck that I have a giant stack of flans on my main survivor.

I never understood the killers here whining about how overpowered survivors have been and how difficult it is/has been to play killer. Killer has been super easy to play for ages.

  • Even if I play a killer I'm not familiar with and meet a bunch of die hard rushing looping unsportsmanlike suvivors that I'm chanceless against I can still punish em if they f@#$ up my bonus BP item.

Here by doing a "what comes around goes around" and switch to an unsportsmanlike playstyle myself. Either by tunneling/camping down their weakest link, or rather just let em rush them gens and send em away without any chase/healing/unhooking, making em all get somewhere between 8 - and 17k BP ish instead of all being above 30k. It's a bad playstyle, but I allow myself to counter bad playstyles by returning the favor.

So in pretty much all scenarios killer have a way to punish unsportsmanlike behaviours. Survivors dont. A better way to counter it would have been if we could refuse other players that extra BP.

  • Or as a survivor and other survivors leave you hanging on the hook when they easily could have unhooked you, safely for both them and you. I don't wanna give them bonus BP in such situation, it would be cool to be able to "reply" to them by taking that bonus BP away.

Again, some would abuse this and be unsportsmanlike in the way they could have refused others to get bonus BP, but its their cake/flan/streamer :p "Leave me on hook? You don't get cake!" ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜œ

  • @Deathstroke said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3214843#Comment_3214843

Well only thing I could imagine working fairly is that you only get the bonus as survivor if you are tunneled out and if 3 or more escapes you are the only one getting bonus as killer. Killers would go for hooks and survivors would not gen rush hard. But better option is just to make tunneling and camping unviable tactics and give killer better control protecting gens and avoid gen rush or just more chase power in general.

For me it's not an issue when playing killer, it's super easy being a killer with the latest patches. If I play one of my mains it usually does not matter if survivors rush gens, I'll find a way to get em.

And when I play killer I can punish survivors that play unsportsmanlike and leave co-survivors on hooks etc. When I play killer I usually have control and can "direct" the match however I like. (Unless I play a killer that I rarely use, but its good with some challenges also)

What sucks is being a survivor that posts a bonus item, and then being the first survivor tunneled or camped down because of some unsportsmanslike killer. There is no way to punish the killer. One can always just leave the game to deprive them of a hook/sacrifice, but they still get that bonus BP. It should be possible to take that away from them.

It's my cake/flan/streamer and I wanna decide who benefits from it ๐Ÿ˜œ

  • @Deathstroke said:

People would use it even if someone was not unsportman so flans could not work like that. Best thing what you can do is to not use them. That way there is no bonus bp for gen rushing survivors or tunneling and camping killers. I sometimes take the risk as killer but then I also bring my strongest add ons like mother daughter with spirit or compound 33 as blight.

Well, some people would for sure punish people that did not deserve it, but still, I think the one using such an item also should be able to take it away from whoever.

If the solution is not to use such item then such items are worthless anyways.

Same as if playing as survivor, and the other survivors does not do unhooks that would have been safe and easy. (When I play killer I punish selfish survivors that leave people on hook when they had plenty of room to unhook them, it's kinda funny because often they hide on the other side the map from the hooked survivor, and that is how I find them and then they die)

The dealer of a bonus BP item should be able to refuse any player from getting that bonus. Sometimes people would abuse that sure, but it would still make these items more fun to use. Instead of using one as survivor and then being tunneled down as the first one before getting anything done. It's just a ######### feeling, and one should be able to counter that with cutting off that bonus BP from whoever.

You always feels under pressure when playing killer, even when you do good.

Do you think BHVR babysits survivors too much that they forget to actually get better at the game?

I play both sides, mostly survivor now and I see a lot of survivors trying to rely on the best perks in the game and hope its enough for an easy escape without trying to loop, worry about a 3gen,take hits for your teammates or be mindful if the killer is near the hook while unhooking.(especially in soloq)

When playing killer, you're instantly worried about all your objectives and wanting to get better with each game.

I think survivors rely too much on perks, than actually improving at the game.

The difference when playing survivor without using second chance perks, boons,or perks like wop that makes looping easy mode is insane.

You have to actually know where loops are,how to loop the killer else you just die,and teamwork if you want a heal.

For killer, even if you use the best perks, you still have to play just as good in order to get anything from a game and you're still under the same amount of pressure.

I believe this is individual. I find playing killer less stressful and survivor more stressful.

When I play killer I usually got more control in the game, as a solo q survivor I am dependent on others, and others are not always helpful or good. (I always try to be helpful but my survivor skills are way below my killer skills so I am not always good in a match ๐Ÿ˜…)

There are of course also the matches were survivors dominate the match, which I do not mind. Gotta have some challenges.

  • Play to have fun, can't win every game anyways.

Normally I try to play fair as a killer, avoiding tunneling and camping, trying to hook everyone twice before I start killing off survivors. But, I allow myself to play more dirty if I meet a group of especially difficult survivors. Leaving any loopers for last and tunnel and kill their "weaker links". If they play swf this often triggers the altruism of the loopers so they get busy trying to save their friends instead of doing gens. Having lightborn is quite useful against such groups as they often have someone who are very good at using the flashlight.

Might still not get any kills at all, but I found this to sometimes be the "best" way to counter some swf groups - Every match is a different one.

I also notice that I play a lot worse if I let myself get frustrated, and I play much better if I'm in it just for the fun.

  • I think CoH is perfectly fine (from a killers perspective)

Sometimes when I find it I let it be instead of snuffing it, this way I know where the survivors (often) will run off to if they need to heal, which is helpful for finding the survivor again if they win a chase.

  • As a killer I have absolutely no problems which how CoH works and it is rarely a challenge to face survivors that use it, and I don't mind the times it is a challenge. Every match should not be an easy match.

Some of you other killers sure complain a lot about those evil survivors that makes your life miserable, how the turntables.

  • I don't understand those complaining how difficult it is to play killer vs survivor, personally I find it much easier to play killer than survivor.

Not all matches are easy, but they are not meant to be either. Getting matched against very challenging survivors can sometimes be frustrating, but it can also make for a fun and interesting match.

  • @dollidahlia said:

I donโ€™t really get it. The goal of the killer is to kill while the survivors goal is to escape. They get a bunch of points for escaping and can still pip if they didnโ€™t escape.

but why are killers punished so heavily if they do everything in their power to get a kill

for an example, it was stated by the devs that the emblem system and โ€œwinsโ€ are when you kill survivors. So why do you get punished for not chasing survivors enough or for proxy camping survivors?

if I kill 2 survivors I should be guaranteed a pip, it doesnโ€™t really make sense that I kill 2 people and only get brutal killer

Camping is a boring and weak playstyle which should not be rewarded anyways, a more dynamic playstyle makes for a more interesting and fun match for everyone.

Personally I find it 10x easier to level up as killer than survivor.

  • @Pandamonium31 said:

If I'm honest, I wasn't going to make this post after a bad match I had, but today alone I have experienced crap time and time again, so words need to be had.

This community (relative to gameplay alone) is one of THE worst I have ever played as/with ever. Ever

I've had a teammate teabag at the gate when it was a 3K for the killer, after I had sacrificed my easy escape to attempt to save them. Did they have the decency to try heal up, try and trade places with me, or even just not teabag? No.

Another game I was hooked right by the exit gate with Adrenaline at the ready, while I praised a Claudette for 99-ing the gate before saving me. What happened when they 99-ed the gate? They teabag at me, and wait for a David on our team to come to "save" me, only to teabag me as they both run out and escape. Mind you the killer was nowhere near us, as they were chasing the fourth survivor. I thought ok, that was just a once off rare bunch of trolls. Fine.

Three games later, I kid you not, three games later and I'm hooked yet again, just about to hit second state when another Claudette comes just in time to save me. What does she do? Clicky clicks her flashlight at me and runs off, all the while the killer is on the opposite side of the map running after our teammate. Alas, I just end up dying on hook.

So I'm thinking, maybe I'm just having a bad day as survivor, let me try do a challenge as killer to get some BP. My very first game of killer I was up against a SWF squad with a cheater on their team. At first I thought my WiFi went bad, but with the amount of lag I was experiencing it was clear they were lag-switching me.

These are just experiences I've had today alone, along with a lot of other horrible things people have done, and actively do, in every trial. My trial. Your trial.

Now it might have been that I wasn't being a good teammate, or I had done something of a similar manner to trigger them earlier in the trial, so I racked my brain really trying to figure out if I'd done anything to deserve it. I couldn't come up with a single answer, other than the fact that this game has some of THE scummiest players I've ever had to play with, either as killer or survivor, in any game.

If you're reading this, and you've done any of the aforementioned, maybe think twice next time. Or actually, maybe just think twice about how you're leaving your life in general, because if you're willing to stoop so low in a game, wouldn't surprise me if you'd do the same in real life.

    Rant over๐Ÿ˜ฉโœŒ๐Ÿป

I have not read your whole post and I've barely read any of the replies.

I do however have some comments on this which I believe is relevant: This is not a game where the different parties are supposed to be nice to each other.

Survivors are of course encouraged to help eachother and in most cases survivors benefit from helping eachother.

But. It lies in the name; survivors. Survivors gotta find a way to survive, either as a team or as an individual. If a solo survivor wants to run a solo survivor run in a match then it is in that survivors right to do so. This is quite a dynamic game in that sense.

Is it nice? No. Is it part of the game dynamic? Yes.

And for the killer... well... not in any way is the killer supposed to be nice to any survivor, also that lies in the name.

It is a game of tormenting eachother.

Personally I am more drawn to the idea of being helpful and creating a game where everyone benefits and everyone have fun, but I aknowledge that this game does not always play out like that.
