  • It was definitely fun

  • Yeah, it is also unexpected, although in the partnered discord there were many saying that Ravager were too good, which is weird because I also thought that they were well-balanced.

Now I also think that there are some other things that people are mad about like the capacity "balance" is truly annoying.

And then we have the death of grapple deflect which is by no means really game-breaking but we still have to deal with the 0m bug? Huuuh

Some of these will actually unlock once you gain another 10 levels, but yeah same here with Chimera hitting level 2

Ah, you would be right if I wouldn't have been at max level for all the advisors since the open beta.

Tune into the livestream on April 4th at 11AM ET and ask the developers questions as they build and raid to satiate the Chimera's hunger. https://twitter.com/MeetYourMaker/status/1641847825909809153

Previous streams have proven to be a great way to get answers to your most pertinent questions. I look forward to seeing your queries in real-time via the live chat :)

They answered very basic questions. The moment you asked a slightly more tricky question, for example, "Is there a plan for a leaderboard?" or "Why are there no player-made champion outposts?" or "How do the Champion outposts work?". They either said "We don't know yet, because we want to listen to feedback from the community" or something along the lines, or they just ignored it.

I will turn into the stream as they might talk about some interesting things there, but I don't have my hopes up that we will get some very detailed answers to some of the more complicated questions.

Communicating is very hard to do, but we clearly lacked good communication until we got the information about the beta progress. Which was with the Road map and Sector 1 tweet the only good communication we got since the open beta ended.

Like we could have used an open beta recap thing we got for the closed playtest or maybe they could have told us what they are currently working on/towards. Even a small Q&A in the forum would have been interesting, where you could have asked questions they could have selected some and made a post out of the answers.

Has BHVR made bad experiences with Dead by Daylight, yeah sure but that shouldn't stop you from communicating, people might not like everything you do, but that is why good communication between the community and Game developers is needed, so they can better understand what the community wants. Which in return lowers the likely hood of people getting mad at things. Of course, it is not zero as there will always be people that hate just for hating.

And I hope we all can differentiate between blatant hate, which is definitely not okay, and criticism. And not hate on the developers for doing something but tell them that we don't agree with it without harassing them. I don't think anyone has harrassed the mym team/devs yet but I also might have not seen it.

  • Hmm, now that depends on what you see as p2w. They will likely do a DBD-like thing where content like traps, suits, weapons, guards, and hardware are locked behind DLCs. It technically is p2w, as it can give an advantage depending on how strong those things will be. But for now, with only speculation, it is hard to say if it will or will not be p2w.

    There are exclusive pre-order skins

They are not exclusive to the pre-order, they are in the deluxe edition which likely will be available even after release.

Personally i feel like a ranking system would not suit this game also i can already see a few problems with this system:

    • Raiding Time is strongly dependent on how big the map you are raiding is so you can eighter get very lucky or unlucky
    • Same with Death if you just get a lot of easy maps in a row where you almost can not die your rank will go up quickly without you actually doing anything
    • What stops you from just rushing easy maps and gaining a bunch of points
    • You will have to make a system that can give points and remove points fairly since you are not playing directly againth another player will the person that made the outpost just lose rank points
    • If you add in outposts in the ranking system and how much the outpost killed players you can just ask a friend to just die in your outpost a bunch of times (yes i know you would need to find it first and when there are a lot of players playing there will be likely something like 2000 outposts but you can make a python makro pritty easyly that just cycles through till it finds one of your friends outposts)
    • Also i like to create at least some just funny outposts if i do that in a ranked system i will just get downranked just because i have fun
    • Why is it always the top 100 players if just the top 100 players get something it will be harder to get in or easyer to get in depending on how many players are currently playing what about the top 1% get something this way its player base independent

Hmm I see your concerns so let me see what I can see here. First yeah a normal ranking system wouldn't and what people wanted, in the beginning, was a leaderboard for each outpost where the five fastest times are displayed to raiders. Now what we got in the open beta was a skeleton for a Ranking system.

And as I was unsure if they would remove it or keep it I thought I should at least talk about what could be done better with the current ranking system.

Now to your first point that it depends on the length of the map, how long a player takes is correct but it is easy to fix. We got the HRV so HRV can be timed once while all traps are inactive and calculate how long it took to the genmat and back. And if the raider is faster than this time it is counted as gaining more elo, if it is the time HRV took +-10s you can give no bonus gained or lost, if the player takes longer the bonus is inverted into a negative and subtracted from the elo gained. It is a very very easy fix.

Your next point is your weakest point so far, as that is the case for every game that has a ranking system, if you are lucky you get a lot of easy matches if not you don't. Ranking is never just skill but also just as much dependent on luck.

To your third point, yeah, for now, it would just be the amount of elo gained and lost. You shouldn't be able to gain or lose elo after a certain rank. That might help although it might also be infuriating to some that would like to abuse the system.

Yeah, it could be made so that if the raider gains elo, the elo gained is subtracted from the builders elo, and if the raider loses elo, that elo is added to the builders elo.

Yeah, it is a valid concern that this might happen and people would abuse it by making bots that die a bunch so the builder gains elo. And atm I don't have a solution in mind for that, maybe a elo gained cap per outpost might help.

Oh yeah being downranked for having fun is something I was concerned about as well, so maybe a system where you can decide on of you want ranking activated for your outpost could be created. Possibly also for raiders that there is a button in the command center that can be active or inactive for ranked. That would also bring some new difficulties but this text is getting already pretty long.

I never said that ranked rewards should be restricted to the top 100, it was meant only for the leaderboard in case it would be too much to have all players displayed. It might not ever become a problem but if over 10000 people are displayed in the leaderboard it would take some time to click through it, so why not restrict it to just the 100 highest-ranked players?

And the top 100 for maps makes still sense as in one season there will probably be tens of thousands of maps if the player retention is kept and not lost.

But yeah it is a concern that ranking is not that thought out here yet so it is important to talk about problems and possible solutions.

  • You gain it by leveling up the chimera, by leveling up your weekly level (Called Tribute Level), and when you log in for the first time of the day.

    It is called Chimeric Cells.

Damage received shouldn't be a factor. But it's a good thought. I honestly have no idea how they could improve it. Unless the population was 3-4 times the size. I see the same players all the time once you get past Diamond 4. I think the game punishes losses too much even when you did super well.

Diamon 4 doesn't even exist, and matchmaking is not a thing. You still get outposts of unranked and bronze players.

I don't think it punishes too hard, the best of the best shouldn't die that often anyways. And dmg received is not a factor as you instantly die so there is no dmg there is just the factor of deaths which you probably mean.

But they are very important, if deaths weren't a condition more people who are not good enough to be there would be in higher ranks. Yeah, the deaths are strict but are calculated by which rank the builder has. If the builder is of equal rank you can die I think 3 times and still earn elo. When they are way above your rank you can die more often. If they are way beneath your rank you can't die once I think this happens if you are Master and raid someone who is bronze.

The condition of time would help to make the top players the elite of the elite, they are some of the fastest raiders as well as raiders who barely die while still going fast.

Rank is an interesting concept, but underutilized like you've mentioned. I'd love to see a sanctuary trophy for reaching certain ranks, maybe with a global rank number on it - it's relatively low-effort, and would be really nice for people who put time into raiding.

Speaking of which, while outposts are kinda-sorta ranked via prestiging, and raiders are ranked via the elo system, there really doesn't appear to be a direct rank system for building or for individual outposts. It's fairly easy to get a prestige 10 outpost; I ended up with several that hit or could have hit P10 over the open beta. With the way rewards for building are tied to the prestige system, that can't really change or get harder without killing builders' rewards even more.

I like the "top 100 maps" concept, though maybe I'd break that up into the top 25 maps in 4 different categories - top kills, top accolades (maybe top accolades in each of the accolade categories?), 25 developer-selected maps, and 25 highest prestige point maps (for tracking the highest combination of kills and accolades).

You can also earn elo from building maps and killing raiders on them. Though I think the gain from it is insignificant. Basically, both raiders and builders currently have the same ranking system though it is not really worth it from a builders' point of view, as raiding is just way more efficient.

I love the idea of splitting it up into 4 top 25 maps.

    All of it actually xD

While i really enjoyed the atmosphere and the overall feeling, the background and the lore was pretty vague to me (would have helped if i would have been able to rewatch the intro sequence probably).

I think the the question what we (the custodians) are and why we "fight" against each other would be a good entry point (so 4+7?), can outline the general storyline/background at the edges of that.

I have uploaded two videos to try out the concept I was thinking of:

    https://youtu.be/9ti_VNyAPmk https://youtu.be/aQGD6udI8_M

Well next up I will cover the chimeric war, it will be a three-part series although I am not sure if I should start with:

    1. The chimeric war itself
    2. The Chimera Project
    3. The Chimera
  • I am a raider main, nearly only raider player. Think that they shouldn't have to beat it themself, some raiders I talked with have no interest in raiding, so forcing them to do something they dislike is not cool.

  • I had not the time yet to read everything but I will definitely do so when I have the time for it. But one thing I can agree with is how bad communication was.

And I get it they might not be able to tell us things because the management said so, but at some point, even they should realize that giving at least a little drop of information would be enough.

For example, why ignore questions about, if the champion outpost system is working properly or not, or tell us if at any point there was or is an idea for a leaderboard, even if they can't promise it, at least knowing there might be a small possibility would be great.

Also, I desperately hope that they listen more to the community than the dbd team, because the dbd team seems to try to always do the opposite of what the community wants. Or at least the community is always angry at the dbd team when they do something. But maybe that is just a skill issue.

  • I am not much of a builder. But yeah, it definitely shouldn't add the attempts stats. Social raiding shouldn't impact any stats at all. It should just be there to have fun and try new things out.

  • New update the bug can be reproduced by launching at the trap area of the claw while it is fired. Witch this launch the trap area will be destroyed and you will be freed from the claw but you now zoom around on the same level ignoring gravity.

  • Update: This bug seems to happen if at the moment you get hooked by the claw this claw is destroyed by another trap or guard. While in the bug one is unable to use the sword. YOu can get out of the bug by using the grapple.

  • Update:

After ranking up he is now stuck at 990 elo in B2. It is strange

  • I just want placeholder V0 back in any kind of form I don't care what or who is voiced by them.

  • When you are in building mode and want to delete all the blocks of a type or even just all of them you can do so my opening the menu to select blocks and beneath should be a delete option or so press that key and you should be able to remove everything.

but yeah maybe getting half the resources back that you paid would work, when deleting a burial site from your thing.

  • @mischiefmanaged said:

They seem to have also replaced the name chimera points with cells. Although, the help descriptions still say things like "costs cells".

I will say the prices seem more reasonable to me and using resources other than chimera points means I'll probably use them more.

Oh, interesting I didn't notice that it is called cells. And yeah it is also more reasonable from the price point of view.

  • Also, I think some of them got nerfed overall. Yeah not all of them cost chimera points anymore but I am still not sure how I feel about the boost changes

  • I was wondering the same. Sadly I think only a Community manager or someone working for BHvr could tell us this. Hope one of them sees this post and can clear up things.

On that note, it would also be helpful to know if it is the moment the 5th begins that the NDA is lifted or if it is coupled to a specific time on the 5th.

Another thing the pack a deco corresponds with a symbol they have. For now it seems that each deco pack has two different blocks. We can see three different deco packs here.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/YBSYJ0Q5HB5O/image.png

This makes me think more that one can only use 5 different deco packs per map. This would mean with the assumption that per deco pack there are 2 blocks one could only use 10 different blocks. All of this is of course only what I believe it is. So what are your opinions?

Wait where did those blue blocks go?

    image.png

They probably are their own deco pack, with at least one more block, but why wouldn't we see them in this new preview? AHHHHHHHHHHHH I HAVE TO MANY NEW QUESTIONS!

  • Also, there is this free memory button.

  • From what we can go of, we can take a look at how Dead By Daylight, another game made by BHvr Interactive, is operating. Of course, that is not definite and it might not be the same, but for now, it is the best option we can look at as there hasn't been any announcement about the monetization.

DBD is a pay-to-play game that offers optional DLC and in-game transactions via skin. In the DLCs, there are new playable characters that get unlocked.

So we can assume that Meet your maker will at least be pay to play and in the future will also have DLCs. As in-game transactions come more popular as they make a bunch of money it probably will be possible to obtain skins via an in-game store later on. The price for the Base game can be assumed to be around 20 $ as DBD did cost around 20 $ when it was first released.

  • Great job, @konchok love to see others making posts explaining things in more detail. Also thanks for linking my post about all we know atm.

  • There was one for the Closed beta test for us testers to have an easy way to communicate. But it has been "closed" after the test ended. I am not sure if there is a fan-made community discord though.

  • @konchok said:

Lore could also be revealed when unlocking something through one of the advisors. It would also be nice to have ways of discovering secrets about the world if you reach a specific prestige for an outpost.

Hm yeah, that might also work.

  • @konchok said:

When are Alpha Surveyors no longer bound by the NDA? Once the Open Beta goes live?

Technically we are bound by the NDA forever. No date or event in the NDA is written when it becomes obsolete/invalid.

So basically outside of the Surveyor Lounge, we are not allowed to disclose anything that was in the closed test Neither are we allowed to compare things outside of that category to what they have been in the closed test.

THX for putting so much time into this!

Thank you, and no problem. I will probably make more informational content either in a video format or as posts here in the wiki. Some things I have on my radar are an in-depth dive into types of equipment and Traps.

Well if anyone has also other Ideas I should look into, just comment on any of my posts I will definitely take a look at it in some way or another.

I know right? It is this massive and I already didn't include any of the mods and what they do. And yes there is a lot of mod already known. 🤣

I would hope that it can help at least one newcomer. But it might also not be in the Best version to comprehend. I still have to work on how to structure things more so that they are easy to digest. I guess it is fine for a first draft. But hopefully/maybe in the future I will be able to make better informational threads.

i like how motivated you are and i like your memes. good luck with your exams.

Ah, thank you, also thank you for liking the memes. And yeah I am motivated because it is the only game in some years where I had genuine fun playing it.

  • Yeah makes sense, and I also can understand not watching the video further, most of it was really just looking for what is bad, which isn't necessarily bad but it can be harmful if not done right. Giving the developers examples of what can be done better is important for the "negative" feedback to constructive and not just destructive.

    @Kharel said:

Being careful to avoid breaking the NDA, but a lot of his complaints stem from 2 things: the awkwardness of watching someone who's not particularly proficient or fast at the game meander through what looks like a particularly easy level, ignoring or easily dealing with most of the poorly-placed defenses, which seem to have been placed to draw attention to the traps and guards and what they do, rather than with any intent to actually kill the player.

There's no sense of urgency in the raid he watched, because the level that was raided provided none. There's no sense of danger, fright, or challenge, because most players can think "I'd have easily avoided that, it's not even a threat", and they'd be right.

I didn't bother to watch his commentary on the level design process; it seemed he had made up his mind about the game within the first few minutes and was just looking for more ways to justify the already-formed opinion.

Quite simply, I don't think that stream he watched showed off the game well at all, and as he pointed out felt very scripted. As a result, the stream made the game feel very awkward and slow. It also looked like they were intentionally turning the camera slowly to avoid motion sickness on the part of viewers, and as a result it made the movement look clunky.

  • Hey, I am a bit late to the party but here we go,

we are not "Human" in the same sense as you and me, we also are not a robot as we can see in some videos that we clearly bleed blood, also if we were a robot I think there would be not many traps that could harm us as the player. Yeah, there still is the possibility of us being a robot but it is highly unlikely.

Now as stated in the dev diary video on the mym youtube channel, we were created by the chimera, so we would either be a mutated being like the guards we see or are some kind of clone. Another thing is that we might be not even made from any human DNA or stem cell mixture, so it is hard to say what we are with the current lore, but we probably will find out someday.
