  • I thought it was just me. Definitely feels buggy. Hope they realize it and fix it soon.

  • Sounds def need looked into. Still getting no noise from downed survivors here and there and haven’t been able to determine a common factor why. “Hook” tech irks me more as a solo survivor than it does a killer as it’s easy to counter

  • Yeah well I’m on PS4 as a rank 2 survivor and it’s been over 40 mins now. Normally I’d just play something else but I’m quite interested to see just how long it’ll take to get a single match

  • Sadly this exists a lot in this game and it causes "some" killer players that aren't quite skilled enough to counter this type of swf play style to resort to actual camping/tunneling. The game is suppose to be a cat and mouse chase with 1 cat vs 4 mice but currently it tends to feel more like 1 mouse vs 4 cats. I don't really get why people like the David play that way. It's a horror game, you should fear the killer. If you don't, then go play GTA or Fortnite or some other game instead of acting like an arse and screaming for attention cuz your mommy and daddy didn't hug you enough. Just my 2cents.... cheers!

  • I think you have to really play both roles almost equally in order to understand both sides. You can usually tell which players strictly play one role or the other by their game play and end game chat/msgs. I don't know if they have release stats but I suspect the high majority either play killer or survivor and therefore they only see things from one pov.

The problem killer players have is that if feels like the devs didn't consider enough as to why they rely on Ruin so much in the high ranks, and just blindsided all of us with this upcoming change. Here's the real reason why:

At high/red ranks, even a team of solo survivors are better at coordinating their attack on objectives, have all of the tools, skills and knowledge of maps to be more optimal at looping/routing while completing said objectives, and can easily get 2-3 generators done in the first 100 seconds of a match before the first survivor even gets hooked.

Old Ruin slowed that down, gave survivors an alternative objective/distraction in order to get the gen speed back to normal, and provided killers enough time to build up some momentum without losing too many gens. It was always a "High Risk, High Reward" perk; the risk being that it can be destroyed by survivors, the reward being that it bought the killers precious time in the beginning of the match to get things rolling. It isn't so much that killers actually "WANTED" to use Ruin at those ranks, It's that they felt they "HAD TO" in order to compete.

The only killers that didn't have this problem are the High mobility killers, because they can apply enough pressure on survivors in that first 100 seconds of the game.

Paradoxically In one decision, the devs just alienated "more than 80%" of the red rank killers, and 45% of the rest. Sure they did so for the sake of new/low ranked players, which I can understand and forgive, but when the average lifespan of a Ruin totem is only 2 minutes (at best) regardless of rank, and it was the most valuable tool for "more than 80%" of killers to be able to compete in the red ranks... Is it any wonder as to why there has been such a huge backlash over this change from the community?

Their argument was never about "We can no longer get 4k with 5 gens left" because no killer goes in with a Hex perk expecting it to last more than 2 minutes, much less provide them with an overwhelming victory, its that the devs ignored this reason entirely, and instead of trying to do something about the core game play to remedy it, they took away one of the few tools the majority of killers had to combat it based on its popularity. The fact that they felt they "Had to" use it proves there is something profoundly flawed at the foundation of generator progress speeds. All Killers are supposed to be the "Power Role" with the ability to apply enough gen/map pressure to keep survivors from completing their objectives too fast, but sadly only the high mobility minority of killers can actually do this consistently without the need of a tool like Ruin.

I'm predicting that when this change goes live, rank 5+ will become so much more frustrating for the majority of killers that they'll try to compensate by either de-ranking on purpose, switching over to survivor once they hit those ranks, or resorting to the most vicious and unsympathetic tactics that survivors already hate but have proven to be effective (hard tunneling, camping, slugging, Insta-downs, Mori's, etc). Combine that with their choices of killer characters becoming restricted to only the high mobility ones in order to compete, and killer diversity at the high ranks will now be even lower than it was before. Does any of that sound like "fun" for either killer or survivor players?

THis pretty much hit it on the head!

  • I did a ruin meme build the other night on Trapper just for fun by encasing my ruin in traps as a way to say 'MY RUIN'. A couple rank 1 teams just powered through the gens like usual but most teams I faced were so persistent on trying to cleanse ruin that I ended up w 4k's quite easily. OMG the salt though lol I wish I had popcorn on hand!! A ton of msg's about 'wait til ruins nerfed' yada yada yada.... I even had a few dc's because the big brains kept stepping in same traps I encapsulated around the shack where my ruin was, then they msg'd me saying the ol' 'you're trash', "uninstall" "camper!" blah blah blah lmao As if I was suppose to ignore them tripping my traps every time I tried to leave the area. tbh the entitlement I see in this game.... smh

Keep in mind, I mainly play survivor and I am not looking forward to lobby wait times from the amount of killers that will most likely stop playing. Sure some big name twitch/YT'rs are saying new ruin is great but they're showing it used on killers who have great map pressure like Billy.

  • If you’re stressing over a video game you may want to reevaluate why you’re playing video games to begin with. With that said, Killer tends to be more difficult mainly because you can’t be in more than one place at one time. If you get a survivor who can waste even a small amount time looping then it’s pretty much GG but get some potato survs and things can snowball in the killers favor fairly quickly.

  • I agree a lot of survivors play this game very immaturely. It’s suppose to be a horror game but most of them run around like they’re playing GTA instead. However, you’re only fueling the issue if you take your frustration out on the next set of survivors for last match ones actions. The mind set well if they’re going to act that way I’ll act this way only fuels the stupidity in the game.

  • Has happened to me several times after this latest update against Freddy every time not that I can confirm that it’s only against him as that’s the only killer I’ve fkn played against in the last 2 days!

  • I know I used to wreck worlds w that setup hahaha. Personally never saw why everyone thought he was so garbage tbh. You had to just play him differently than any other killer. Whatever though it is what it is.

I get instant lobbies as killer. As a survivor it takes forever. I don't wonder.

What part of high rank killer did you not comprehend?

  • Just faced 3 camping highs ranked wraiths cloaked in a row.... and they wonder why their lobbies are long.

How to counter NOED if you don't cleanse all the totems : leave through the exits or cleanse the hex totem

    You don’t say?

Cant exactly do either if I’m being chased while the last gen pops and then get smacked w noed and face camped now can I?

    Somebody else understands!

NOED punishes GenRushing but people do not care and want it nerfed because they "Don't want to cleanse totems"

I don’t mind the extra objective in fact I wouldn’t mind more objectives added to the game. What irritates me is being on a survivor team where lately majority of them aren’t doing any totems.

  • Lmao @SpaceCoconut I’m trying to motivate people, you’re not helping.

I was a little triggered when I posted this after my 3rd time in a row dying due to noed. The next match I made sure all 5 totems were cleansed. Yup I did all 5!

but spacecoconut does bring up a good point. Main focus should be gens, but if a damn totems visible, GET IT NEXT!!

For me it’s 100% on both sides. I have never changed the sensitivity since.

Thanks for the reply BoxingRogue. May just up mine and get used to it

  • Played against a Legion yesterday who imho played him/her how they were intended. They didn't tunnel, didn't camp, didn't moonwalk and still kicked our arses. No one DC'd either imagine that...

  • 5 survivor matches today, 3 of them were face camping leatherfaces! Guess that’s one way to counter 2nd chance meta. Also the way to get me to go play something else.

  • They could fix DC'n by automatically throwing a DC'ing survivor on a basement hook and by sending a DC'ing Killer's "ghost" to the basement until the survivors finish the match without him there. Just a thought....
