This was me, my bad guys.

Well while I highly doubt it was me alone I made a detailed bug report the other day about an exploit. Basically, if you got invigorated by the Afterpiece Antidote while getting pallet stunned you would gain the 10% haste effect permanently.

Some players made reports about seeing Clowns with the bug on PS4. And I found it on PC a few days ago and made a report the same day.

Hopefully we'll all be able to laugh about this in the future.

I just started using clown and didn't get any permanent haste effect... would have been helpful lol

    This did it too? Wack.

Specific thing I saw to do to make it work: hit surv with speed bottle then wait in the cloud until it's totally gone, then just don't throw another.

i mean i understand what you are saying. and sure you could say that handouts shouldn't be given out. but what if like giving out a single handout would then get you to have 2minutes faster que in red ranks because theres 100 more people who overcame the hardships and sticked around to become good enough to play with you? In terms of DBD this example doesn't necessarily makes sense since its an asymmetrical game and you won't necessarily see the fruits of it. But the sentiment as awhole still applies and stands.

If i had to bet if someone with your mentality would reach the top of ANY game not just DBD, or someone who complains and asks for hand outs. I would always bet on YOU. I think learning and overcoming is not just part of games but part of life. However it doesn't have to be like that at all. It can be where everyone can learn and everyone wants to stay and everyone has a chance to get very high up. Thats not even speaking on the fact that if You are already good, then obviously a handout to you is not necessary, you already made it homie. You could even claim that you did it when it was hard if they did change it . Those who can overcome and push through will ultimately be rewarded, because there mentalities will thrive in a competitive environment.

Not everyone learns like that or enjoys an environment like that, they might want to have fun while they learn they might want to not get shat on while they learn a killer etc. and as i said its not either or. You can have even more different ways to normalize skill or have less extreme variances between results you can handle it in multitude of ways. But this gatekeeping sht where stuff HAS to be hard and learning has to be tough and only those who suffer will be good that aint it chief. It aint it for allot games, and never has been. There are ofcourse people who LOVE and enjoy that type of stuff, but then i would say Join the marines Join the Navy seals if thats what you enjoy. You can also enjoy it in games aswell as in DBD, but the mentality that it has to be hard or have this struggle culture is trash. and its cringe. And it always pollutes balancing and design decisions its just so bad. FML i love darksouls but not because its hard, but because of the atmosphere the music the somewhat non sensical story, not cause its hard, i dont get a boner because someone can't complete it .

But this gatekeeping sht where stuff HAS to be hard and learning has to be tough and only those who suffer will be good that aint it chief. It aint it for allot games, and never has been.

Sorry you don't want to learn to play a game and want it to be handed to you.

i mean just basic concepts like skill floor and skill celling comes to mind like both are not mutual things. you can have a game with a very high skill floor and a high skill celling things don't have to be hard for there to exist skill expression.

This game in general is not balanced for high level play and is more so target for a much more casual audience, sink or swim attitude is definitely something BVHR hasn't went for and most people looking for a highly competitive game would most certainly not look towards DBD.

the success and the health of the game isin't dependent on the competitive scene or the 4% red ranks, however it does depend on a steady pyramid flow of players to the top ranks that requires a huge player base and allot of them won't make it.There's an entire genre who are all about the struggle life and all about hardships and doing it the hardway, its called FGC. where some of their Biggest games have 20k players between multiple platforms, and household names like StreetFighter or Mortal Kombat cant keep 16k concurrent players even for a year. And thats not speaking on the sea of dead anime fighters.

For me personally your overall attitude is bizarre for a game thats not really that competitive or deep(most of the skill like 65% if not more is macro based and not micro) i would understand if you would take this approach towards a game like Dota2 or CSGO hell even COD or League, and thats not to say you can't get better or that you shouldn't get better. Its more so to the point that people should struggle in a game that's not really that serious .

Just a very simple example right? Dota2 has almost twice as much depth as League ever has had in its entire existence, yet most people will prefer to play League. You can attribute this to allot of factors like the artstyle or the flare of it or the feel. But allot what it boils down to is when the game gets rough and you don't know how to progress will you overcome or jumpship? Because everyone starts bad, and bad players need other bad players to practice to get good. You can't just expect to throw everyone in the deep end and expect them to swim, some of them will but allot of them will just sink. Ultimately the game doesn't need another red rank but the game could use couple of yellow, green, and purple ranks. cause those purple ranks will one day become red ranks. You don't want a cutthroat environment where people don't want to comeback gaming is a optional hobby NOT mandatory. You want to create an environment that you want to come back too and want to learn in.And it doesn't have to be either or.

    just think about broader perspectives.

Right, so if someone is getting steamrolled in purple ranks they'll depip to green ranks, so on and so forth. The game (should) accomadates that. The game itself throws people into the deep end. There's no handholding mid-trial. You either kill or be killed. It's not so much a cutthroat attitude toward the game, just that I don't think there's any other handouts that need to be given.

    That billy made many Mistakes.

He missed alot of downs, Don't rely on that video just Cause it was uploaded by Otz

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/980224870 You want billy gameplay? there you go,

Yes i made a few mistakes this match. but i still held alot of pressure,

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2262761#Comment_2262761

There's the video here for proof my guy, that in the right hands. billy is Hellova lot better than bubba,

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2262782#Comment_2262782

Lopro was a ######### Ultra Rare. It LITERALLY gave you Speed Limiter which was a very bad tradeoff.

It wasn't even worth the Ultra rare status at that point, and Most pallets do allow you a hit with lopro.. Just feather the chainsaw and you'll get it,

The twitch vod is a decent Billy, but the survivors are almost braindead as well. Two alive for the three minute chase and neither one was working a generator? Especially after ruin was cleansed the gens should've started popping. There's no denying Lopro chains are good, but even still most plays are made without it. Bubba just has a better kit at the moment. Instantly refilling chainsaw? No overheat? Can be used mid chase and not in a straight line? He's in a better place. Does that mean he's more fun to play? Absolutely not. I love Billy and will always prefer to play him.

As for the Otz video, the Bubba clearly had a better 3gen, and a fantastic ruin spawn. Ruin inside his 3gen? Dude got handed a W. I don't think it was an apples to apples comparison.

if that's the actual reason, how is camping/tunneling someone out of the game fair then?

    It's not lol.

As bubba. they will NEVER allow you to get a single chainsaw down.

With Billy. you can still down with the chainsaw since you have Access to Lopro.

Like i said. Billy will 100% Be Better than Bubba in every shape way or form.

Even without Lopro you should still be getting downs as Billy. Otherwise, get some friends and practice in KYF.

Question: Why does DCing as KILLER count as 'unsportsmanlike behaviour'?

During the evening in the US, survivor queue time can be upwards of 10 minutes. Definitely not fun for that to happen.

Oh I agree about the NOED thing, why would you punish the survivors for doing their job and doing it well by making it base kit? Makes no sense.

That said, I still do think there needs to be a secondary objective though. I remember seeing someone break down the math of how long it takes to do gens at baseline, vs how long it takes to get 12 hooks (I believe they used either an average guesstimation of chases or went with a lower number, or they went with putting 3 survivors on 3 gens, or something like that) and the numbers showed that at base with no add-ons and no perks, gens can be done way quicker than what it would take to get 12 hooks. I'm not saying that doing gens should take forever, but I remember seeing the numbers and thinking, eh those can be a lot better for both sides.

Although a killer has a couple different methods of slowdown. Slugging is one option, and another is just outright tunneling. Of course, those are no fun, but they still keep survivors off generators. Basically if someone is on hook, one person is looping, one person is unhooking/healing, and one is either totem hunting or working generators. Totem hunting is kind of important, especially if you start smelling Devour. So, generators can fall by the wayside pretty quickly. Generally not the case against 4man stacks, but that's not always happening.

To be fair, for every "survivors are genrushing" thread that exists, we have just as many, if not more threads of "the killers are being too oppressive" threads where they whine about not being able to get gens done fast enough.

Both sides whine and cry loudly about the main objective of the other side and how "easy" they have it.

Before the first hook happens, there should generally be at least two generators done, I understand that much. As for "killers are being too oppressive" I really don't understand that. You joined a game to try to survive. Either learn to do it or die trying. That said, I don't camp, tunnel, or slug, but I do occasionally get cleaned. Part of the learning process. Giving me free noed won't make me a better player. Shouldn't punish survivors for doing well, and shouldn't punish the killer for them doing well either.

  • Enduring and Spirit Fury are an interesting choice. I prefer some gen regression, but maybe not being so punished by pallets would have the same effect. If a survivor doesn't greed pallets then your build is probably more likely to succeed.

  • Where do these sub rank 10 killers get off saying "genrush"? Do you really think the survivors have anything better to do? If you're not applying pressure or taking too long in a chase, they're going to do the only objective they have: generators. Genrushing is just a word to make you feel better about being a bad killer, and I suppose this entire thread is just "I need another crutch as a killer because I'm losing."

  • Getting a little annoyed with them removing the characters' expressions. Ace's smile, David's smug, Laurie's fear. >:(

  • @Unifall said:

There's counterplay against spirit. The thing is though people will say "1v1 challenge!!!11" but they don't seem to understand that this is a 1v4 game. 1v1 proves nothing. The only things that spirit needs is and indication when she phases thats all. Ive escaped spriirts using counterplays such as double backing, hiding scratch marks around corners, regular looping, slow vaulting etc. But they will still say "noooo!! Thats not counterplay you only went against a bad spirit!!!"

Sure, the current counterplay is hope the first chase lasts long enough to finish all 5 gens and leave the first hooked person to die.

    Interesting.

I found Oni to be way easier & more powerful than Billy. Especially when one uses his addons.

Oni is the easier & more balanced version of Billy

My build goes as follows for Oni:

    • BBQ
    • Infectious - Mandatory
    • Ruin / Pop - I use Ruin
    • Corrupt - Mandatory

Same exact build on Hillbilly. If I'm feeling dangerous I'll swap Corrupt for Monitor.

  • Mending simulator. And if you don't heal, they won't use their power and then get free hooks. Add in Thanatophobia and you've got an extra 20s per gen. Add in sloppy and you've got 3 randoms self-caring while you're being carried to the basement.

  • I try to play Oni and I'm underwhelmed. It's more difficult to apply pressure, especially without anti-healing. Survivors tend to have insta-smoothing brains when I start a backrev as Billy and they just die. Against an Oni they immediately find a vault etc. I assume it's because they think I'll longsaw. Idk.

To each their own I guess. Just about every Billy I go against gets demolished and I can see why.

Probably Lampkin Lane or Badham. Anywhere else is a 4k.

  • Not to disagree with you, but he is viable at rank 1 if you know what you're doing. The exception being Lampkin Lane or Badham Preschool (ANY OF THEM). He's definitely balanced, but a majority of his add-ons don't feel worth anything. Even double steering Billy feels awful. I do think BHVR intentionally sunk Billy so they could push Oni and Blight.
