If you suck at killer, you need only resort to tunneling, camping and slugging to maintain a very high kill rate.
If you suck at survivor…you're dead almost every match and so are all your teammates, unless you get very lucky.
If you're good at killer…enjoy going on lengthy win streaks unless you purposefully throw.
If you're good at survivor, enjoy being forced to play for hatch against mediocre tunneling/camping/slugging killers that quickly remove the weak link and avoid you like cowards until the end of the match. Also enjoy having to carry nearly all of your matches unless you have one of those lucky rare games where you get queued with competent survivors that can hold chase against an m1 killer for longer than 10 sec.
This is the reality of Dead by Daylight in 2026. Yet killer mains are still playing the victim.
If you lose more than you win as a killer main, it's a skill issue, no matter what killer you choose.
If you think being a killer is that easy, wouldn't it be better to just play the game instead of coming to the forums to write about it? It seems like you're only here to stir up confrontation.
-
Why is it that the survivor's wish to 'escape through the hatch' is respected, while the killer's wish to 'wipe out everyone' is denied? We should look for a good balance that respects both intentions. Saying 'the killer should give up on wiping everyone out so that the survivor can escape through the hatch' is far too one-sided.
-
Survivor players can practice chasing. Calling the tactics that killers choose to gain an advantage 'unfair' is nothing more than a mindset unsuited for competitive games.
-
In Asia, the current state of DbD favors the survivors. The generators repair too quickly, there are perks that slow down weakened generators, and there are too many pallets. All of this combined makes life very hard for killer players on the Asia servers. There’s little information about the skill gap with North America, so I won’t argue about who’s better or worse. However, in Asia, survivors focus only on generators, so before you know it, the exit gates are powered.

Every single killer in the game kills more than survivors escape. Let that sink in.
Do you want a game where a killer can only ever kill one person at a time? You should play Minecraft instead of DbD.
-
Survivor players tend to want to justify why they give up on the game.
-
Survivors have an advantage by complaining to the developers rather than practicing, so I think killers should just give up.
-
You said that "an environment where the Self-Care perk is strong just means the killer is bad," but by using Self-Care and Botany Knowledge, the three survivors can focus on other tasks. This eliminates the time delay that occurs when someone goes to help someone else. Survivors on Asian servers generally each play their own role and try to maximize the efficiency of their escape.
What I'm saying is that the environment specific to the Asian servers is not suited to the current changes in DbD's environment.

Notably, I did not specify what region in my first comment.
Skill issues are skill issues.
You would have to be unbelievably bad (or new) to think this update made the game more Survivor-sided. There are less pallets, stronger Killers, and worse loops.
The basic premise is that only a few maps have had the number of pallets reduced, and the number of planks remains the same on most other maps. In addition, most of the perks that prevent killers from repairing generators have been weakened. Regarding this situation, I have said that "killer players are struggling on Asian servers, where there are many survivors who prioritize repairing generators." It's not a matter of skill, but rather a matter of the different environments.

No idea how people are losing with this update.
A lot of good fillers got obliterated and a lot of maps saw pallet counts plummet.
It has to be a skill issue, at some point. There's just no way.

Ironic, since some of you all are saying that NA Survivors must simply be bad because they escape less.
Self-Care is an inefficient perk. If a player is using it, and managing to get value from it, the Killer is not playing the game in an efficient manner. Taking nearly a full minute to heal should be time enough for the Killer to simply win. Instead, we see the opposite on the Asian servers.
Ergo, their Killers are inefficient and not up to standards. The Survivors could very well be better, but their Killers certainly seem to be worse, on average.
As an aside, theres not much difference in escape rates either. 6% at most, that's not a lot.

Haha.
I figured you'd push back on that and insist that 6% is a huge difference.
You've been acting like all players on Asian Servers are just so much better than everyone on NA, and that NA Survivors are so inefficient and whiny. But when it comes down to it, there's a paltry six percent difference between the two AT MOST.
If you brought over an Asian Survivor and had them play on NA, they'd get eaten alive. Self-Care is a throw perk, and the only reason it's encouraged on Asian servers is because of the weird community rules and how inefficient the Killers are.
I was saying that because players play differently depending on the region, adjusting the game to North American standards would cause problems for players on Asian servers. But you were the one who brought up the issue of low skill level. Because the way players play differs depending on the region, the intention of the discussion was to ask for adjustments to be made so that both sides can enjoy the game. You continue to argue that "they can't adapt because they're not good at it." Do you understand?

I have a lot to say about your unfair insistence that Asian server killers are just bad, but I can see that you're not very good with numbers. 6% of the total player population is not a small number. Survivors on North American servers are 6% less likely to survive than survivors on Asian servers.
I don't know if this 6% difference is due to the lack of skill of the survivors on the North American servers, but I also don't know if it's due to the lack of skill of the killers on the Asian servers. You're assuming one side is at fault, so you're not in a position to debate, and should go to another forum.
-
In my opinion, the low escape rate in the current environment is due to the low level of training of survivors on the North American server, or to the fact that they are constantly taking detours and not taking the shortest route to escape. It's laughable that they're constantly yelling "I can't escape!" after making the effort to show themselves to the killer and making pointless contact.

Yeah, here's the thing.
Self-Care only gets value when the Killers are bad.
That's not evidence, and it's not an answer. What is your basis for claiming that killers on Asian servers are to blame? If your theory is that escape rates are lower on North American servers, then that also means that "survivors on North American servers are worse." If you're going to disparage someone, please provide valid evidence. Or are you just not good at working with numbers?

Even our weakest NA players are 10x better than whatever the East has to offer. Sounds like a skill issue from what I'm gathering in this thread.
Please tell me where the figure of 10 times came from. You’re not just saying it without any basis, are you? In fact, the escape rate for survivors on North American servers is lower than in Asia. According to the theory above, this would mean that survivors in North America are ten times worse than those in Asia. Is that what you mean?

you know the type-writer pallets on rpd?.
yup, thats all we got now (besides shack).Don't you know that the administration announced they will be readjusting the maps again soon? In the recent update, the number of maps hasn't decreased, so the environment remains tough for walking killers. Please stop speaking as if the North American server, where generators aren't prioritized and people constantly go off on detours, is the standard.

What's the preferred gameplay in Asia region? Do they prefer chase, hide, bait or something else? I ask this because every continent seem to play games differently.
Survivors on Asian servers prioritize repairing generators above all else. They don’t waste time shining flashlights at the killer or doing other things. In any case, they work on repairing generators at the maximum efficiency. Therefore, if the system is adjusted based on the slower generator repair speeds of North American servers, killers on Asian servers will face significant challenges.
-
How long do we have to put up with the selfish attitude of 'I don't want to be the first to be eliminated in a match'?
Recently, survivors give up on matches quickly and disconnect, so perhaps we really do need to improve the tutorial and raise the skill level of survivor players.
If things continue like this, survivors' complaints will keep leading to nerfs, and we could end up seeing a second or third wave of skull merchants emerge.

In eyes of Western players it’s still considered as tunneling, because you still try to eliminate first person faster, even if you hooked someone between or chased to injure and push from gens. But I understand what do you mean. The kind of tunneling you called weak more commonly called hardtunnel in Western community. Still oppressive and bad for players here because players do more risky play. Don’t drop when needed, greed, weird path to save more pallets. Sometimes they literally gifting you down on 5 gens.
Myself I’m not a big fan of desperate tunneling after 2 gens left. This is unthoughtful, random, non skill related and u have to hope for opponent being worse than you. Somehow it’s the most effective in Western because survivors stop treat you seriously.
It always should be planned from the start and during eliminating first person you interrupt people on gens. Tunneling is easy only when it’s gifted you on 5 gens. If not you have to chase others to slug/injure/hook/push from gens to win time for killing first person. But majority of Western players still gonna call such style tunneling, believe me. Faced with it myself.
This is a tunnel? But he killed other survivors along the way? The definition of a tunnel on the NA server is weird.

On World Cap Asian teams from survivor side fell really hard when faced with tunneling and perk restrictions from survivor at the same time. It seems it’s harder because they didn’t train well to play without decisive strike or dead hard.
When I played on Korean and Japanese servers I noticed it’s really hard to get first hook. 2-3 gens the only you have, when survivors constantly using best perks. Is it the reason you find tunneling unattractive? On the Asian server, generator repair speeds are just too fast, so if you relentlessly chase a single survivor, you’ll end up losing the game. The optimal strategy on the Asian server is to mix in some even sacrifices while trying to eliminate the first player as quickly as possible.

There are other ways for killers to gain advantages, other than tunneling someone out at 5 gens.
That's what this is about.Spreading pressure, being practically omnipresent makes it a lot harder to sit on gens.
A killer who practices to win a fight and then gets punished for doing so in real life is a flawed game system. Would you ask someone you've just knocked out to go easy on you in a boxing match?
-
@THE_Crazy_Hyena said:
Doesn't killers on the Asian servers often have like a "gentleman's agreement" to never tunnel/slug/camp etc?
On the Asian server, tunneling is considered a weak tactic. It's easy to counter tunneling. All you have to do is repair a generator while one survivor is under attack. From the perspective of Asian server players, I don't understand why North American server players get so upset about tunneling.
-
Why should a killer be punished just for gaining an advantage in the game...?

I guess you haven't seen decent killers play. It doesn't matter if you are SWF or not, killers will always win.
If you truly believe that the Killer will win 100% in the current environment, the first thing you should do is practice your gameplay.
When you're faced with a strong Killer, this is not the time to run away from the game or complain on the forums.
-
There are two surveys here, but neither of them has a question about "Why did killer players uninstall the game?"
-
On the North American server, it is the killer side.
However, this is because there are problems on the survivor side, such as survivor players on the North American server giving up on the match too quickly, leaving the game unattended, and not prioritizing escape.
Because it is the survivor side on the Asian server, the killer side will continue on the North American server unless the awareness of North American server users changes. -
Looking at the opinions on the forums, it seems like a lot of people are saying, "What's wrong with abandoning a game you're not enjoying?"
As a gamer, I don't really welcome the attitude of prioritizing one's own feelings and engaging in behavior that inconveniences other players.
-
Thank you so much for all your opinions!
I'm glad that everyone was able to learn about the current situation on the Asian server, where the power balance between survivors and killers is different from that in North America.
The killers on the Asian server struggle every day against the army-like survivors.
I hope that the developers and players of this game are aware of the suffering of the killers on the Asian server.
-
Adjustments are made based on the low escape rate of North American servers, so killers have been at a disadvantage on Asian servers for a long time. It has been an extended ice age for killers in recent years.

I'm very curious to know how often survivors give up on hook/disconnect early on in the game on the asia servers, if you could give me an idea.
The disconnection rate on the Asian server is not very high.
Survivors simply repair generators like robots, handle chases with killers, and make their way to escape.
What is most valued on the Asian server is efficiency in reaching the escape.
There was a comment above saying that killers on the Asian server are bad, but that's not true.
It’s that survivors are so focused on efficiency that killers cannot keep up with that peak rate.
-
Survivor players on Asian servers simply focus on repairing generators.
They don't go out of their way to threaten the killer with a flashlight, nor do they go out of their way to act as a meat shield.
Survivor players on Asian servers are like an army.
For this reason, the killer is always at a disadvantage on Asian servers. -
The devs addressed survivor frustration.
They forgot to address killer frustration.
-
Can't you think of any other adjustments besides narrowing the killer's strategies?
They should give even hanging some merit.
Why always narrow the range of strategies? -
There's no need for a change that slows him down when using the ability.
Weakening the cage should be more than enough to satisfy the law of equivalent exchange in response to the add-on changes.
-
@VibranToucan said:
The way he can just run behind you, and M1 you if he gets close enough or M2 you if you try to use a pallet or window is stupid. He is also already easily a top 10 killer, he shouldn't get any buffs without compensation nerfs.
In Asia, the Executioner is a fairly low-ranked killer.
I think it makes sense to weaken his cage to counter tunneling. His cage was too strong.
But making him slower when using his ability is a strange change.
It's wrong to try to destroy the Killer's strengths and make him a character without any distinctive features. We should adjust his abilities while keeping his strengths.
-
It also includes the number of survivors who commit suicide repeatedly, abandon the game, and so on.
Anyone who perceives that this alone is a disadvantage for survivors is a person who does not think about anything. -
@rglarson13 said:
I know people complained before, but I've been playing for 7 years now, and it's never been this bad
Literally every game involves an immediate tunnel of the first person to get hooked, and the killer either hard facecamps to trigger the self-unhook and then tunnels them out or stands just far enough away that they don't trigger the anti-facecamp meter and then charges in as soon as someone goes for the unhook.
I haven't played a game in the last three months where the killer hasn't slugged aggressively for the 4k.
And before you go calling me a survivor main, I'm definitely a killer main, but I play survivors with my friends. We're not great, we're not a seat squad, and we don't bully, but killers are incredibly awful right now.
I'm sure the devs would tell me to take a break, but I suspect there's a reason why survivors seem to always get bonus points for playing right now.
BHVR has tweaked the game to make it that kind of environment.
If you have a complaint, you should tell BHVR.
The killer is just choosing the best solution among the limited tactics. -
"Survivors can't have fun playing, so the killer should be careful."
"Survivors don't have fun playing, so killers should limit their playstyle."
"Killers don't do what survivors don't want to do because they can't have fun playing."
HAHAHA -
The real thrill of competitive games is doing things your opponent hates. If you want to care about your opponent, shouldn't you play another game?
-
I don't think this tactic is wrong, as there is no benefit for the killer to hang a survivor on a hook. Most of the popular abilities can be nullified, so everyone should take the initiative and use this tactic.
-
@GonnaBlameTheMovies said:
Knockout is a terrible perk that only serves to enhance a really unfun and boring style of play, and ruins the game for four people. It's obnoxious, it's frustrating to deal with, and it's only ever used to slug. That's all it's used for.
Say what you want about Franklin's, Weave Attunement, aura read, gen slowdown or regression, or all four in one build. None of those are remotely as problematic as this one singular Killer perk. I don't bring it. Ever. Nobody should. Ever.
It needs a full rework.
Please take a moment to think about why murderers use knockouts in their fights. If you don't like being knocked out, we recommend using VC to form a SWF. The killer is constantly forced to fight against the SWF's unreasonableness. At least for some people, Knockout makes playing the killer fun.
-
There is nothing wrong with that.
You're just using the game's built-in system to follow the tactics allowed in the game.
Now there is no benefit to hanging survivors on hooks, so this tactic is the most effective.
Survivors are quick to complain that it's not fun or fun, but the killer isn't playing the game to entertain the survivors. -
@ThanksForDaily said:
Wanting to nerf friends because they play together an online game is just very sad thinking.
Killers and survivors are not friends.
It's quite normal to balance the game by nerfing advantageous survivors, especially SWFs.
At least in other games. -
@Skillfulstone said:
I mean, what do you think happens when an arbitrary hard-limit is put on gen-regression and most decent regression perks are harshly nerfed?
Combine a less effective slowdown and Survivors that actually do gens and that's a deadly combo.
Perks that already regress the progress of generator repairs are too weak to be used.
-
@Choaron said:
No offense but I don't think you're playing optimally at all. Sometimes you need to slug or tunnel, depending on the caliber of the team you're going against. It's a PvP game, after all. You can't play "nice" every match without expecting to lose from time to time. Gen speed completion is currently perfect at one minute and a half.
Survivor players on forums will always blame the killer player for their skill in times like this.
They don't listen to stories that the survivors have an advantage.
Do you think all the killer players on the Asian server are bad? Unlike the North American server, the Asia server is clearly too fast to fix generators. Even streamers have lamented many times that the repair speed is too fast.
The killer is now a role that is not recommended for beginners. -
@caipt said:
isnt self care meta in asian servers? Plenty of time is already getting spent off gens.

I understand what you're suggesting, and to some extent we agree, but if I could add to this: Trying out bold new things isn't free. Any change that we spend time programming, adding animation, art, SFX or any other work to that goes to the PTB and gets scrapped is time that is effectively wasted. That time could have gone into other improvement that would have actually gone live.
The reality is there's only so much time to work on changes between each update. We pack as much as we can into each one and there's always more we want to do.
Lately we've taken to doing smaller incremental changes to a larger number of Perks and Killers most of the time rather than large ones to only one or two. There's a couple reasons why we do this:
- People who use those Killers/Perks get more frequent changes without having to wait for a large scale rework which may be pushed back repeatedly until there's enough room for it.
- It allows us to see how a set of balance changes affects things before committing to further changes and risking over buffing or over nerfing something. (For context, the PTB does not use ranked matchmaking and people take time to adjust, so we can only learn so much.)
- Smaller bundles of changes tend to be safer and have less risk of being reverted, meaning more changes actually make it to the live game.
To the last point in the original post, having fewer things that need to change between PTB and live is a good thing. It means that they're in a safe enough spot that we can monitor how they play out in the live game. I want to stress the fact that nothing that goes live is final, everything is subject to change if needed. On the flipside, pushing a ton of changes to the PTB and having to backtrack most of them before they go live is a bad thing for development because it takes time and resources to a) make those changes in the first place, and b) rework or revert those changes before the live release. Both take development time away from other positive changes we could be making. It's also worth noting that the window between PTB to live is fairly small due to certification, so we don't have the luxury of making massive changes between the two.
I absolutely get the sentiment, and there are times where we test larger changes without intending to push them live. But our goal is to get as close to the target as possible with the first try, then fine tune from there.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't make any changes, but I think we should also listen to the opinions of users who play Killer a little more.
