Almost two weeks after the MMR change. It got worse

For the first few days after the update, I actually had a pretty good time with the new MMR. I was getting matched with killers and survivors around the same skill level as me. There were some new players too. Some played well and in most games we managed to make it to the last gen.
But since September 2nd the games have changed completely. Suddnely I'm being matched with either new killers or tunneling killers, with brand new teammates. Out of 8 games I've escaped twice.
I don't know what's going on and if my MMR is stuck in a hell loop. It's gotten so bad that I don't feel like loading up the game anymore.
I was curious to ask if any of you are experiencing the same thing.

  • I haven't had any consistency yet in either role. I'm still getting a lot of babies and both my ER and KR are about 20 points above the 60/40 goal for the 30-day period and it just keeps climbing. I start to think it's leveling off when I get a good killer or a strong team and then I get the babies again.

  • I have really been enjoying my matches.

on survivor side at least, the start it was very unbalanced nearly every-game, points board looked like two survivors with under 10k, other two over 25k bp. (had many matches where it was a 2v1 for half the game)

I still think its balancing out but in terms of survivor but In my experience my team mates have gotten better over the two weeks compared to when it first came out.

Even if I dont escape I just try to focus on saves, gens, heals, chase time. other things that Im assuming are contributing to MMR.

I also play the game too much so my mmr may of been changed faster then others. (steam says 100 hours last 2 weeks but i would put more around 50 of game-play)

(side not but dodged pre game lobbies those matches still feel trash but that needs to be adressed)

  • Agreed, the first 3-4 days my matches were consistently against and with players around my skill level. As of recent I've been going against people who are significantly worse than me such as consistently getting games with people who have 200 hours while I have 3000.. Matches are still fun though, I haven't noticed much hard tunneling or sweaty swfs.

  • If they only prioritize fast queues for the most popular role (Killer) and the match quality is terrible, the MMR makes absolutely no sense.

  • I've only played Survivor for the most part and I'd say it's been a mixed bag so far. I think the system is still trying to place everyone. It feels a bit more wild because you can go from a competent Killer that destroys your entire team to a Killer in the next game that doesn't seem to know what they're doing. That said, I'm enjoying playing at the moment and my games have felt not dissimilar to event match-making. It's not the same experience I had when I first started playing and it felt a real struggle to progress because my teammates were less active. With the new system, it's not taken long at all to get decent, active teammates.

I was most excited for the MMR reset because it would mean I could play on the Switch again as I have more content on the platform (my biggest regret to linking cross progression was not being able to compete over there at my PC MMR with the Switch's technical shortcomings). I've been able to mess about with goofy builds and still be in with a chance of escaping and doing well without being instantly tunnelled out. It helps that we're in our own little soft play area with cross play being off at the moment as well.

I think the main improvement for Survivor is psychological. I don't feel so bad about being the only Survivor to die in a trial, since I have the knowledge that it doesn't automatically mean I'm going to go down in MMR. And (I hope) there's now more of a point to play on in obviously lost games than before.

But I still don't think the system does all that much. I'm not sure it was worth bothering with all this, as trials feel more or less like before to the point that I'm not entirely convinced there even was a full MMR reset. Perhaps we need to give it a month before we see any real differences.

  • My killer games have started to feel okay, don't feel like I'm slaughtering 50 hour survivors anymore and they all seem to know what they're doing at least a little bit.

Survivor is still a mess for some reason. soloQ is borderline unplayable and I'm hoping if I just outscore my teammates enough times I'll get put in the right lobbies but gods is it unbearable and slow. Seriously considering putting killer down for a while so I can actually iron out my survivor MMR.

  • I have a feeling that they made it too easy to gain MMR

The problem is that we have no idea how much the individual score is weighted for survivor MMR vs how much is weighted based on escaping/not escaping. It could be very minimal for all we know. Even if individual performance is a significant factor in MMR, the garbage matchmaking system that gives up after 5 seconds because short queue times are prioritized so heavily is still in place, so we still have the same problem where MMR doesn’t seem to matter anyway.

Absolutely like I almost always score high and I'm willing to bet my escape rate is higher than average too going by the number just released not that long ago and yet I long onto today and this is in my first survivor game.

Like I'm sorry but unless they're a good player that just wanted to troll for a game (which I doubt because they DC'd after their first chase) I refuse to believe me and this person is anywhere near the same MMR bracket.

  • the mmr will never work as long as it is looked as a 1v1v1v1v1 game. How can that ever be balanced? they need to drop that delusion and treat survivor as a team with scoring and MMR.
