Add a tutorial for these bad players BHVR
Im A killer main but have been playing survivor lately because killer is just not fun in this current meta. Anyways I say that to say, add a tutorial of what to do and what not to do. Every single match ive played today thats ended in me dying is because players either get chased near hook or dont do gens. Survivors 1 objective is to do gens yet it seems like its a 50/50 on whether my team knows what to do lol. If someone's on the hook, cross map as well, dont leave your gen to run over there injured finish the gen! They buffed hook timers! I cant believe the level of incompetence in most of this games survivor community. Thats not me being mean or singling anyone out mods, thats just me calling it how ive seen it all day long. But of course when I play killer I get the sweatiest opponents that im not allowed to try an win against because they bring 16 second chances. Idk man lol

It really is dire. DbD is the only game I play where the playerbase has somehow degraded in skill over time instead of improved. The quality of the average Survivor match is bad these days, and it's almost always due to poor teammates.
Its because they've been coddled by handholding mechanics and balance the game around the worst players. If they would just listen to their vet players, and balance the game around high mmr like every other game out there, the bad players would be forced to get better
So on one hand you're saying they're handholding survivors and balancing around weaker players but on another that low mmr survivors are still dying constantly?
Which is it? Because those two things don't really gel. Thing with dbd is, getting good with the survivor roll takes a very long time and is incredibly difficult, hundreds of hours. My suggestion is if you want to play surv and not have games like these, play as a swf. Soloq is notoriously bad because there is zero communication. You get people running for crossmap saves or multiple survs mobbing hook because they don't know if anyone else is going for the save.
The game doesn't need to balance more around high mmr, anymore than it already is. You remove offhook endurance, nerf antitunnel perks etc then low mmr gets 10 times worse and new players won't put up with it. Player retention is already pretty bad because of how punishing the game is for new players, make it worse and you straight up won't see any many new players stick with the game.
Balance around high MMR and no one will stick around. Catering to your top 20% is not how you retain new players. It's not as simple as adding a tutorial either. Survivor is macro and info heavy. A lot of it is making the right call when, and know what's going on where. You can't teach that. It takes time to learn.
This will never happen. Bad/new/casual players are where the money is.
Bad teammates are a far bigger problem than any supposed killer vs survivor balance issues.
You know what the real issue is though. MMR, and the entire matchmaking algorithm as a whole.
Back in the day, around the time when I started playing DBD, there were a ranking system in place, and you were usually matched with players around your rank (+/- 2 levels). This made for much more balanced matches overall.
These days, it is completely random. Some games, you are matched with people who has well over 5000 hours, and other matches you are matched with Little Timmy, who just installed the game, and the matchmaking expects you to hard-carry against a hard-tunneling Blight with quad slowdowns and double speed add-ons.
It's just the usual victim blaming. Survivor players don't need actual improvements to the experience. They need to play better. If they're getting put in miserable situations, it's their own fault. They should've known better, played better, studied more. THEY DESERVED IT. And then, of course, when they run into people who actually do those things, they whine and moan about that too, and of course, the same advice doesn't apply. The entire game needs to be rebalanced to prevent that. There is literally no winning here.
Better tutorials wouldn't solve anything. BHVR has been catering to the survivor players who refuse to get good at the game.
Apologies for singling you out, you're just the latest person I've seen say this and I've decided to finally ask: What are you referring to with this?
I see people say in passing that BHVR cater to bad survivor players who refuse to get better but I rarely see any examples given, would you mind elaborating?
Of course not. Just the usu rampant tribalism on the forums as usual. Although this post definitely reads like someone who's mained killer winning easy games until they get sweat squad level mmr, got fed up with hard games and then started with survivor at the bottom of the mmr pile and is now bellyaching about it. Of course all of the other survivors are to blame.
I really wish killer bots would be added to Custom Games. I feel being able to practice against specific killers in a no-pressure environment would help lesser skilled players understand what they're facing, especially against the less played killers.
As it stands the only way for newer players to practice is eithwr trial by fire, Customs (if they have at least one friend, and even then they begin to learn that player's specific playstyle and patterns), and the tutorial Trapper bot.
I'm not saying it will fix bad playstyles, but it may help curb what's seen in the wild.
