Dbd needs more complex powers, like Plague or Singularity.

Jason will be cool and all.…but we've seen this typology of killer a thousand times at point. In all sauces.

Please BHVR, give us more complex killers, like Plague and Singularity.

  • I dont think that this is what the community wants. Considering that Ghoul is one of the most used Killers, because he is super simple and you barely see any Singularity despite it being a really strong Killer already shows it. And this is even with Singularity made easier.

  • In my opinion Jason's power fits him perfectly. If you want more complex powers then they should be done on other killers not this one.

survivors hate anything that demands they deviate from a standard macro or chase gameplan

killer players, by and large, prefer simpler designs

i hope we do ocassionally get more complex killer designs but honestly i think the current ratio isnt too bad. imo the more complex killers should be the unlicensed ones

This is true overall. Killers like Singularity and Vecna etc. aren't run anywhere near as many others because there's so much to do and remember and stress about.

Larry and Vecna are good, but people use ghoul because hes strong. Trapper is easy but weak

Vecna and Singularity are also strong. But they are way more complex than Ghoul. If you are good with Vecna or Singularity, your winrate will be at least as good as it can with Ghoul, but you just see not many players who want to put the time and effort to learn those Killers. And they dont need to, since there are other Killers who are strong and sometimes way easier to play to get good results. E.g. I think people should learn Nurse before they want to learn Singularity, since she is easier to learn than Singularity to a level where you win most of your games.

In the end, it is more of a balance between strength and ease to use.

A lot of complex powers are not even strong for their complexity compared to their more simpler counterparts.

    This is the biggest problem.

    Nurse doesnt work on console

  • Agreed, I'd love to get at least one complex killer per year. They don't have to be super often but as a P100 Singularity I miss getting killers of that level of complexity to unpack and master.

Some variety would be nice. Having every new killer be one with a telegraphed projectile and a mobility power is pretty tiring.

  • Survivors hate complex killers and it adds to the growing pile of things that scares new players off. Equally, as pointed out, many killer players opt for more simple killer designs ; I main Huntress, by example, about as simple as it gets on face value.

That said I love Singularity, Plague, and so on. Frankly speaking the only reason I don't play them is I find the reward for the effort you put into them is unbalanced. Macro playing Singularity as required is stress-inducing, fast-paced, and the reward you get for it is… the same as what I get for a right click on Huntress.

In short there are complex killers, but they are just as effective as simple ones. In lieu of that, why would you do five times the work to get the exact same reward output? Now there is playstyle to account for, and people who main Lari and Vomi of course and I'm not trying to slight them, more power to them. But that being said there's simply no incentive to pick them.

The more complex or difficult a killer is, one of two things must be true to make them equally viable. Either A) they get a larger reward for the larger effort output, which they do not. Or B) They are harder to counter proportional to the complexity involved, which they are not (arguably with Vomi.)

The end result is a killer that is meaningfully more difficult than Huntress or Ghoul, or even Nurse, but provides the exact same result, if not less so given how easy they are to counter.

I'd adore more complex killers coming to the roster if they could be substantial, but I don't trust they will be balanced to reward proportional to their effort, and so I more or less discard the idea entirely. Until the day we see them rebalance those more complex killers to reflect the effort input, anywho.

  • Doesn't the new grimoire killer fill that niche?

  • I think they focused more on what fits the licensed character more this time, with originals they can do whatever they want and make completely unique powers but with licenses its tied to what people could see that specific character being able to do.

Seems to just be yet another damaging projectile that is telegraphed and dodgeable.

There is the sin system and the other realm too, plus the artifact, so there is more to it than say singularity I'd say.
