Singularity > Buckle up

I disliked but didnt really have a problem with the buckle up nerf. I get that it could be unhealthy in some situations. however i feel like those situtions wre extremely rare. When i look at killers they always use the same gen block/regression perks and bamboozle. thats honestly all the perks i encounter in 8/10 games.

Singularity however is a complete disaster of a killer. every match i play against him is extremely annoying. There is absolutely 0 counterplay. his basekit is THAT strong. how can 1 strong perk like buckle up get removed but a basekit of a killer can be that overpowered. i feel like the game in many ways is so unhealthy for survivors that just play the game for fun. Sure on a competitive level the game might be more balanced, but for players like me and my friends it gets almost unplayable.

And dont even get me started on maps… Haddonfield in particular.

I used buckle up as an example but many strong survivor perks are considered OP and get nerfed, but strong killer perks are just fine?

maybe its just me but things like this can really take all the fun out of dbd for me D:

  • Singularity does have counterplay, even without an EMP. Breaking LOS is pretty important. If you do have an EMP, you're pretty much fine, though. There's also still a window to outrun him even when he TPs to you. Most of the buffs he got were QoL things.

He got 3% Haste but that was paired with the fact that Overclock couldn't increase based on the number of Slipstreamed Survivors.

The same patch they nerfed Buckle Up also came with a bunch of regression nerfs too. Pain Resonance, Pop, Grim Embrace and Deadlock were all nerfed alongside it. Some more than others, sure, but they all got a nerf.

  • I can't count how many strong killer perks that got outright killed

  • those regression perks deserved to be nerfed. not because they were too op by themselfs, but because nowadays there are so many regression perks and they all stack.

and yeah those perks got nerfed but STILL alsmost every killer runs them. Its not like those perks arent good anymore.

And i guess the singularity part is just a skill issue on our side xD. I still think its weird that u need an item to be able to do anything against a killer. In my opinion his basekit way out of proportion with the older killers.

How am I supposed to break line of sight when he has his "turrets" all over the map?

It's nice to read some tips from a more experienced player so thanks for the feedback!

There is far more perks and powers that got nerfed beside regressions, hell they literally killed the knight just today

  • I feel like killers either get killed off or buffed too much. Hopefully we'll get that spot in between and get some balance between killers

Singularity absolutely has counterplay and that's teamplay, most solo-queue teams don't have that really, so he is pretty strong most of the time. But that's the same for most killers that are countered by teamplay I think.

It's not even different compared to older killers:

Hag and Wraith were both countered by flashlights heavely. The only difference is that singularity gives you the items for free without you having to get them before the match starts, you even get them passively while waiting, you do have to do the last bit now because it was to insane in chase if you could pick up it feels like 5 emps and clear yourself without losing anything.

Yes and you know why? Because they are still better than most other perks, that doesn't mean they are good, just that you don't have a reason to run something else if you want the game to go longer than 5 minutes with most killers.

Buckle up was nerfed because it didn't have anything you could do and only countered already weak killers, a nurse or blight doesn't care at all about 10 seconds endurance you don't reach anything anyways and even if you do you won't do much. For a pig on the other hand it's impossible to get 2 hits quickly so you will probably reach a loop and there's nothing pig can do about that, pig can't get the down on the loop quickly too, so it's just pigs death because the survivors had one single perk.

  • ... we're having flashbacks here...

  • I don't think those changes made Singularity really that much stronger. Yeah, to some extent mainly for EMP change.

But most of it was just bunch of QoL things that made him so much better to play as.

as a person who literally has more singularity playtime than all people here combined, I can say that he wasnt even made "stronger" in a common sense of it, he was rebalanced to be more accessible and less addon dependent.

singularity's overclock is balanced around 3% haste rn (it literally runs out just before you get within hit range if survivor is running away from you in a straight line, you cant bullrush free hit every pallet), his abilities overall were made smoother to use and less clunky.

people who complain about him out themselves as incompetent players who become neuron activation meme from seeing "buffs" in patchnotes and conditioning themselves to think the killer was overbuffed. he wasn't, they just always sucked vs that character and got carried by the fact nobody really bothered to learn the killer on the proper level, therefore never providing enough of a resistance to make these people learn the advanced counterplay.

all they know is how to waste EMPs and predrop.

What's your favorite build on him?

I kinda enjoyed games I had with him yesterday, so might give him a try.

So far mostly copied my build from Skully.

    Rapid brutality, Bamboozle, Surge, Corrupt

I dont have a specific favourite build. I just have a bunch of perks I find to be extra fun on him. Unrelenting, coup, rapid brutality, stbfl.

Other than that I just run whatever. I stopped running default meta a while ago bc I got good enough with the killer that rolling pubs with sloppy pain res pop got boring, so Im just experimenting and allowing myself build freedom as singularity is one of those killers whose kit has everything necessary on its own, so you dont have to pluck holes with perks.

Hubris enduring is a funny combo, let yourself get stunned (easy to do with new overclock timing), let survivor run a bit far away from the pallet and proceed with teleport right behind them, skipping the pallet. If they dont know they can vault back or they do it too late, they're dead.

Recently I played survivor and barely escaped terminus remember me soma's photo singularity that kept everyone injured and deep wounded and held both gates. Super nasty, but worth trying too.

  • The changes never seemed like a buff to me. Just the idea of a killer with so many things in his basekit seems stupid. back in the days you had a killer who had a range attack, a killer who could teleport etc. now u got a killer with basekit teleport, brutal strength, anti chase and so much more. just seems unbalanced to me and other people that dont have 10k hours in this game…

  • Saying For the People Buckle Up was rare is crazy
