Constructive Hag feedback and suggestion from Hag mains.

The point at 6:14 is why I've stopped playing Hag altogether. It's infuriating.

So why don't you just not swing immediatly if you know people do this thing? Teleport and then take the hit afterwards? I mean what else are survivors supposed to do to get rid of hag traps, especially before the introduction of the whiping away?

Before the introduction of wiping away they were supposed to used a lantern to burn the trap. That's why most of the Hags used Franklin's. Yeah, it wasn't the best design, but we are talking about another DBD era.

Because Hag is a 110% (4.4m/s ) killer. If you see the video (5:15) you will notice that when Hag use her teleport without hitting she takes a lot of time to catch up the survivor. She NEEDS her power to get a hit, but her power is easily counterable in SO MANY WAYS that makes it impossible to use it decently against survivor if they have the minimum experience.

Hag has a straight away counter intended by the devs: wipe the traps. That what survivors should do against her and there is no reason to not be like this.

Yes, I know and I also know that that was really quick.

I mean sure, I know how long a 4.4 m/s killer takes to catch up, but it is probably still the better option compared to swinging and missing all the time.

I don't think just because the wiping away exists that that makes every other counter unintended… You're not going to wipe away a trap in chase, but you might be able to trick hag into teleporting if you bait her.

  • Generally speaking I like the idea that there is a safer option that takes longer to remove the traps and a riskier one that is faster (the walking in thing). I'm not fully opposed to give her movementspeed after teleporting, but I don't think she should get a guaranteed hit after teleporting, considering most people don't really play her that tactically but just spam traps everywhere around a 3 gen or a hooked person, and if every teleport would result in a hit that would be too much. Crouching through just is not always viable considering she might catch you off guard when you do that while you get close, and if you remove them she will notice and maybe come back, resulting in lose lose situations.

As for reacting to a phantasm, considering people just put it on the mouse wheel there is not that much reaction going on. It is just spamming the mouse wheel constantly.

The easier version to wipe them away works allright for newer players who don't know how to activate traps the other way, which I think is allright and I don't see it as a problem that more experienced players don't use this option. There should not be a guaranteed hit just becasue you teleported in time, maybe the odds should be favoring her generally speaking, but nowhere near 100%…

I don't really see much of a way to make hag more engaging to go against, as she is just rather boring, it is quite similar to Trapper that when you are in a chase and you walk into a trap more often than not you will get hit, the chase interaction itself is not really that engaging, it is more about the outside of chase interaction where you harass her and destroy her web, which is fine I guess, but it requires people dedicated to doing that, which is usually just not a thing in soloq…

  • I've played Hag for years. The main issue with Hag is large maps. Since the map is too large and there are too many routes, your traps get spread too thin and it's very hard to get downs if survivors know what they are doing. If survivors constantly remain outside of your web of traps, they can just keep reseting after every hit. Chasing them is pointless since you are a 110 killer and your chase is too weak. The only survivors who lose against Hag on large maps are those that don't know about this counterplay and keep running further into the web of traps.

  • I don't play hag but i didn't know that she had these issues. I hope they get addressed.

that is why Hag's strongest strategy is 3 gens because it shrinks maps. Hag is entirely end game killer and as such, is meant to be played as one. Something that youtube video clearly fails to recognize. In general, all trapping killer have one issue. It is that survivor have no reason to interact with their traps and can just spread out and do gens, avoid every single trap until final 3 gen. It is huge net-negative loss for killer and requires little no time input from survivor.

this is also why reducing trap detection zone was in fact big nerf to hag because it made your traps get spread even more thin making them cover less area. Also nerfing the detection radius add-on also nerfed waterlog which thrived off having big traps for hindered. Now the hindered is essentially useless because survivor walks away from phantasm.

the thing is, you can place traps such that you can hit survivor as 4.4 before survivor makes it to a loop. you don't need swing directly out of a trap immediately. that is also why Mint rag is super strong as add-on for hag because you can use mint rag like a Nurse teleport blink with 4.4 m/s follow-up.dev put hag as 4.4 m/s because m/s increases radius in which a hag trap successfully hits you.

As you can see, Ace doesn't have loop nearby.

have you ever considered using devour hope and make your choice?

    1. Equip devour hope, setup 3 gen near it
    2. Get a hook, Use make your choice get 3 stacks of devour hope
    3. Setup traps and teleport to instant down with devour hope, eventually mori the survivor.
    4. If you don't want to deal with hag counter-play, use Mint rag. You can strategically place traps to cut survivors off and teleport on command. It is little bit like a dredge locker teleport in nightfall or Sadako TV's but way stronger since there is no travel time, at all. The only downside is 4.4 m/s instead 4.6 m/s catch-up. Mint rag also makes Make Your Choice very easy to use and once permanent exposed is in play, the act of resetting becomes irrelevant feature. One of hag's biggest weaknesses is triggering trap→resetting, war of attrition, twiddle down 3 gens. All this fades away with exposed.

Just to be clear and give the benefit of the doubt, what was the intent of this sentence? At the moment it looks your are using Trappers trap disarm mechanic as an example of why the wipe away mechanic is no big deal and not an major concern of a nerf?

… Because using Trapper as a defence for saying its not a problem for the killer is pretty funny 😁

Um and? I’m confused what this has to do with Hag.

  • Would be nice if Hag had different kind of traps instead of the teleport only, so it would require different counterplay for each type of trap but also allow Hag to be more versatile.

  • But good hags stomp on lobbies, don't they?

I'd say that it's better than the flashlight one...

    You mean Battle Hag?

  • It's worse. They typically ran Franklins for flashlights or just dodged flashlight lobbies. The devs also don't want items countering killers kits.

  • Oh, no I don't mean that, I mean it more like clown can swap bottles hag can swap the different traps and place them all in one game, without needing an addon to have a different flavor of traps…

It could be traps that give you killer instinct or aura reading for tracking, some that make a player oblivious or apply a different status effect, some could just be for teleporting, I don't know you could get very creative when it comes to what the traps could do…

Sorry, but this is quite boring and otherwise very ineffective. Having to use Hex and others perks to make the killer viable is not the best idea.
Hexes are very weak, specially Devour. If they break your totems (considering you are bringing Undying too) its two less perks until the end of the game.

Also, smart survivors will use the "S tech" to break your web, which is slow you down (and sometimes even make it impossible) to get a down to start the snowball with Make Your Choice.

Anyway, if Hag needs perks, addons and the trigen strat to be viable, there is a problem in her kit that needs to be adressed.

But you still can bait Hag in chase if you trigger a trap, specially when near a pallet or a window. The issue is, if you don't get a hit after a teleport, you probably won't be getting a hit anytime soon because of her 4.4 speed. In the video the Hag a comparison between her and a 4.6m/s killer, and you can see she get a hit much more later than faster killer if she doesn't teleport instantly.

I don't think I or anyone needs to have a visual comparison of the difference in catch up time between 4.4 m/s and 4.6 m/s, as it is already written in the speed… it is a difference of 20cm/s…

I mean in chase baiting not really though, if you see the person you can just wait for him to go in too far and then get the hit, I don't really see much interaction there that does not rely on the Hag messing up.

your 3 gen with hag with hex:devour hope in the middle of 3 gen. you can pressure the entire map until survivor go to your 3 gen, then when they go to 3 gen, you'll be stuck defending devour hope in a 3 gen. they shouldn't be able to cleanse your hex if your near it, guarding it. Hag's traps can be crouched so they are not alert system like trapper is but you can teleport to the trap if they're near a trap and the survivor starts running.

Like I said, Mint rag is what removes counter-play for hag. It is on 10 second cooldown which is very low. With that, you can just teleport on hex directly.

Anyway, if Hag needs perks, addons and the trigen strat to be viable, there is a problem in her kit that needs to be adressed.

Hag will never be able to pressure a team globally. She has no mobility and her trap setup time is negative time investment on top also being a 4.4 m/s which has zero chase capacity. She's design to be territorial defensive killer. All the trapping type killer are tri-gen, camp hook killers. Hag doesn't rely on devour hope but it is one of her better perks because Exposed+Trap trigger = strongest hag can ever be.

Also, smart survivors will use the "S tech" to break your web, which is slow you down (and sometimes even make it impossible) to get a down to start the snowball with Make Your Choice.

Again Mint Rag disables hag's counter-play because it allows her to teleport on command. if your anywhere near a trap and not like 10 meters within a loop, you just instant teleport then walk then a hit. anywhere where this is no loop is guaranteed hit if hag calculates the walking distance between loop and trap teleport. it is why she is 4.4 m/s. I still disagree with this but her 4.4 m/s is somewhat balanced by mint rag. I think she should be 4.6 m/s but anyway.

MYC requires survivors to somewhat play poorly to trigger a trap on hook save. with mint rag, you just place it in some obscure corner. the save happens, teleport, hit into instant down. rince repeat until hex devour hope 5 is active then it is just free mori on any down. assuming you play defensively, your hex shouldn't be cleansed without at least 1 mori happening.
