Spirit

Is there anyway to counter Spirit when you're hurt? Shadow walk is something else and has zero downside. (Special powers should have a downside) Every Spirit just tunnels the whole game. If I get hit once I'm done for

Iron will was it and all the cry baby spirit mains was the reason it was nerfed. Sadly no there is no counter play to her ,, those who say use head phones need to understand that is just a very poor excuse to not admit how no skill and easy a spirit is and this is why I rather a nurse, you can at least anticipate when to juke a blink and she actually requires=skill but spirit is more like pray you even can get away, cause that so call audio queue nerf is not even a nerf, more like a buff, she was to get a nerf to kick dust up when phasing with audio que but for some reason bvhr didnt do it. Also yes thats all they do tunnel/go back to every unhook like any high mobility killer.

  • It takes practice to get a feel for the timing. Having headphones really helps to pinpoint the directional audio of her phasing sound. You can hear where she's coming from and react to it, but you have to be quick. Some tips off the top of my head:

Pay attention to the directional phasing sound. Don't get in a rush when she's phasing close to you. A Spirit player will often fake one way and go the other way while she's phase walking. Be patient.

Rules for sitting at pallets: No at long range, yes at short range. Pre-drop if she's going for a long range phase and make her go around. This usually gives you enough distance to run out her power. This also takes the timing and ping aspects out of that interaction. If she's in close range, use your ears and, again, be patient. She's going to fake a few times before committing to a lunge out of her power. Bait it and play for the stun, or run away from the pallet after sitting there for a few seconds. You'll need to get a feel for how she's playing. If she's really aggro and swings at everything, leaving the pallet can work. If she's patient, you can play for the stun.

Understand how survivor audio works. When you're standing and injured, you have normal volume. When you're running, you make a bit more noise. When you crouch, your sound is reduced by 50%. Survivor injured audio has a hard cutoff at 12-16 meters. The killer cannot hear you beyond that no matter how good their headphones are. The audio doesn't exist beyond that range. When you run, you breath heavy (separate from injured breathing). When you stop running, you continue to breath heavy unless you let go of the run button and forward button briefly. Then your breathing returns to normal. You can just let go of forward and then start walking again to resume normal breathing volume.

Don't run in the grass if you can avoid it. Spirit is very much a visual killer too. She's watching for any environmental cues that indicate where you went. Crows, grass, anything. If you're in the open and don't have anywhere to go, vary your pace and use brief crouches to change your volume. Use weird pathing and misdirection if she's trying to predict you instead of using her ears. You can tell pretty quickly if it's a prediction Spirit vs an audio Spirit.

If she has Mother Daughter Ring+Dried Cherry Blossom, forget everything I just said. You'll be on the hook shortly.

  • I think try your best to not taking the first hit to injured is the counter. I would be fine with it. But yes as you said, taking the first hit is done for, the second and last chase starts with being injured is too easy for Spirit.

  • Undropped Pallets and vaults can still help. Nothing quite like pallet stunning a lhasing spirit 🤣 and shoutout for lithe/dance with me combo. I've confused a couple spirits with that one because of the sheer speed I get after the vault plus the invisible scratch marks

"Cry baby Spirit mains" were absolutely not the reason Iron Will was nerfed. It was nerfed because it was a powerful meta perk that gave you a massive benefit for doing nothing with no downside.

Spirit even got the perk buffed before they added her audio cues. Spirit players had nothing to do with the Iron Will nerf. The only perk Spirit played a role in nerfing was Stridor.

The short answer is don't get hit. Once she hit u it pretty much a done deal. You already know if u go down she not gonna leave you alone so play boring and drop everything. Treat her like oni.

I can say the same of killers that uses perks that is meta and requires no skill like franklins=just m1 a survivor and they lose their items + a their charges. I dont care if its nerfed but ofc amma put the popular noed, devour hope at least require the killer to put in some work with hooks and what not. Scratch marks/pools of blood/aura reading perks/killer instinct, spies from shadow(very underrated perk), infectious fright even some killers with their kit like doc was able to find iron will survivors so its not as if there was not any counter play to it, there is about 20 of them.

Franklin’s isn’t meta, nor is its effect that powerful. Also you just listed that you have to do something to activate it - you have to M1 the survivor. NOED also got nerfed the same time as Iron Will, so I don’t see how that is a good comparison when it was also nerfed.

Iron Will had an insanely powerful effect, one of the strongest effects in the game, with no downside and the only requirement was to be injured. Spirit was not the reason it was nerfed, it was nerfed because just about every meta perk was nerfed.

My best advice from an ex Spirit main is to play Spirit. If you play Spirit and master her, you will slowly learn how a Spirit think. The only problem is that if the Spirit you're facing is using the blossom, well you can't do much because she see you with the killer instinct. So, my best advice is to play a lot Spirit and learn how a Spirit think.

Franklins /sloppy is very meta, Idk what servers you play on but it very common in matches for me and both is powerful for no hard work, how is fully emptying a survivor item not powerful? now if it only let the survivor drop the item and not drain its charges then ofc that would not be powerful. there aura reading perks + spies(very underrated perk) perks that let survivors scream, killer instinct even some killers like plague/neme as examples could find iron will survivors fine cause coughing was not countered by iron will. I personally never find an issue with iw if am playing killer since there so many tools to use , I rather 4 iron wills over 4 prove thy selfs.

The only way franklins will get value is on the first down/chase as you can drop the item and avoid it completely, if franklins is trully an issue for you and the team you are playing, frankly id question what would happen when the killers actually use powerfull perks.

  • The only thing I can tell you is try not to get hit. Once you're injured you might as well stand still and let her down you.

can ask yall that same who complain about easy to counter perks like exhaustion =fear monger= healing = nurses calling . But ofc yall will defend anything that is technically broken on killer and say its not powerful.

Props to you for the advice and being honest at the end ha ha. Those add-ons are crazy.
