How can BHVR completely remove Tunneling/camping without making killers upset

Last year BHVR tried to nerf tunneling/camping by basekit BT and a perk called "reassurance" but did it work? No! Killers are tunneling way more than before.

What can BHVR do to completely delete tunneling/camping from the fog without making killers quit?

Buffing hooks, Hooks should instantly sacrifice survivors, there's no way around it, but there's question that come to mind but I left some answers some may agree and some may not

"How can survivors stand a chance? it's already hard to win as survivor" I agree, as a survivor main this sounds crazy but it's possible by buffing survivors at chase have you ever wondered why solo is always a pain even though they buffed solo q? They can't loop killer for a minute

If this ever happened there's a lot of ways to make it work

1: three health state, at third health state(healthy/injured/last legs) survivor's vision should be changed and it should be harder to see (something like deep wound) survivor should hear nothing but heartbeat, with decreased vault speed make the looping extremely harder but if they can survive long enough they can recover to 2nd health state as a reward for looping well and punishing the killer for wasting the chance( so three health state or potentially 4 at best)

2: They can buff gen repair speed, as soon as someone sacrificed survivors can repair gens way faster to stand a chance 3v1

3: they can nerf scratch marks or increase the chances of wiggling free

Ok, I guess that's all, let me know what are you thinking about this, thanks for reading

  • so generally speaking you want to buff survivors, who are insanely op especially if playing in decent SWF

Did we read the same thing? Survivors will be dead by being hooked once and not 3 time, genuinely this is a buff for killers without trying to tunnel or camp

  • Well they can't really 'remove' tunneling and camping from the game. Like you're always gonna be able to stand next to the hook or just keep going after the same survivor again and again. I can't see BHVR ever changing the game so much that those two things can't be done.

  • I suggested a "for the people" - perk but with hook-stages. So you can basically trade a hook-stage from yourself to another person. I think that's a better way to try and fix it. Your idea would break DBD because a lot about the teamplay you actually get to do is in fact unhooking and after that healing each other. There is also a lot of perks that are made around hooks. In fact hooks could be completly removed if you can instantly kill a survivor after being downed which also makes other perks useless like unbreakable, tenacity, break out, saboteur, scourge. heck, even flashlights. So yea i dont think your idea makes sense. I think the unhooking mechanic is one of the healthiest within the game because it rewards you for playing as a team instead of playing egoistical. ( aka Survivors that use clairvoyance & sole survivor ).

Ugh... You can still help your teammates by flashlight save or sabotaging the hook but I totally get it

I think they should try this in PTB

How would this stop survivors being upset? One of the complaints about tunneling & camping is you don't get to play the match. Now you can be instantly taken out of the game within 30 seconds?

There's a game called Friday the 13th, where you might die at first 30s of the game but no one complained about that, it's possible to make it work by making survivors harder to catch and buffing repair speed

  • well actually they could make it so survivors only have 1 hook stage, which means they can only be unhooked once. that might be interesting. It has some "upsides" for survivors because there is no killer camps hook when its close to 50% situation anymore. And you dont need to eye-sight the 50% which can be a bit annoying at times.

  • All they need to do is to increase the Base Gen regression... from .25-.50

Then they will need to look at Gen regression perks...

Call Of Brine- being that it only lasts for 60 seconds... maybe leaving it would be the best thing (but I can be wrong)

Overcharge- this one could use a change though... Seems that it goes from 75% to 200% over 30 seconds

Plus only having one Regression perk in a build would be best but BHVR doesn't want to do that (for some reason)

Plus Oppression can be changed to have .50 regression on the Gen kicked but .25 on Gens effected

Moot point. We are talking about DBD. In DBD one of the biggest complaints (when it comes to camping and tunneling) is people "not being able to play the game" AKA, being taken out without being able to participate in a match. Just look how upset people get over tombstone Myers.

Yes but I've got some points that actually makes it more playable than tombstone Myers, at least for the ones who know how to loop

I mean, 3 heath state, faster gens per sacrifice, no scratch marks, easier to wiggle free

It means more fun chases for survivors but paying a heavy price when they fail

In killers perspective: harder to catch survivors once you catch them they're done

But I understand this solves one issue but creates another

Ok but what does this mean for killers like bubba, billy, ghost face, etc?

Your idea is too flawed. Some killers could absolutely capitalize off of it and games would be over instantly. I can end chases fast as a blight main. Even with them timing a DH, I can still end a chase in 20-30 seconds (hitting through 3 health states).

Boom, 25 seconds into the game, one survivor dead. Nahhh it just would be terrible in practice.

Ok by that point I guess tunnelling and camping will stick with Dbd forever ๐Ÿ˜•

  • In order for people to be okay with tunneling being removed entirely you need to make 12 hook games possible at high mmr and tunneling never necessary to win.

Death in one go is bullshit.

You just need to add point 2, this will already fix the problem. It will not be profitable for the killer to immediately kill the survivor, but you need to hang other survivors a couple of times, and then kill everyone. Since if he kills a survivor immediately, others will repair 25% faster or after the death of a survivor, 1 generator will immediately repair itself

  • Most killers don't tunnel/camp because they want to, they do it because they have to. Make it so killers aren't so easily put into dire straights on time for chases and they might tunnel/camp less. This is the type of problem that gets fixed by addressing the causes of insanely fast completion (item/perk combos) and making tertiary adjustments like nerfing eruption and rebalancing other regression/progression related elements, not by punishing desperation tactics that developed under the conditions of fast completion in the first place.
