The fact something is hidden does not mean its rigged.
For example: the code of the game is hidden too, don't mean its rigged or supposed to be visible.

Let me list the reasons why MMR have good reasons to be hidden:

    1.Reduce Player Anxiety and Toxicity

    • Visible MMR can create stress for players who feel pressured to maintain or increase their rating.
    • Some players may become toxic or overly competitive, especially if they think a match isn't "worthy" of their MMR level.
    • It can also lead to gatekeeping or elitism, where players judge others based on a visible number.

    2.Discourage Manipulation or Exploits

    • If MMR is visible, some players may intentionally lose games (derank) to face easier opponents — often called "smurfing" or "reverse boosting." This behavior ruins the experience for new or casual players.

    3.Encourage Fun Over Rank

    • BHVR has said they want players to focus more on enjoying the game and playing different characters, not just climbing a hidden ladder.
    • Making MMR invisible removes some of the temptation to always play the "meta" or most powerful builds just to win.

You are free to disagree ofc, dont mean they are not good reasons for a game developer to deploy.

u brought good points and brings me to question if it might be for the better to not know it.
I do wanna say though, having to play with or against people across such vast differences of skill-level makes me feel like im not playing to win but the game is deciding for me whether i win or not. And it does feel like it does it in a way, where streaks are likely to accure to give u more of a feeling of agency. But a fake one.
In matches u lose, u dont feel like u couldve changed the outcome. In matches where u win, u feel like u couldve played worse and still won.

  • @Mandy said:

Definitely not rigged, definitely exists :)

it exists to what extend ? what about it makes it skill based ?
Not showing it makes it obvious that you are trying to hide something. And why would u hide something when its not rigged ?

  • but why do u guys prefer having keys useless and the hatch only randomly giving u an escape ?
    isnt skill-based better ?
cuz if prefer random - u can also just have the game decide if u win the game by flipping a coin but u wouldnt want that , would u ?

well you've said a few different things now. you claimed it was random initially, now you're claiming it's rigged and designed to make you play more. so which is it? lol

its rigged which is also making it non skill based but not truely random

  • @killer_hugs said:

nah, definitely not a lie. but i'll say that i have days where the matches are easy most of the day (usually over 40+ matches/day). in fact one day i escaped 40 times - that's my record. and most of those matches were playable and easy; any decent player would have been able to match that. then the next day came and every single match was horrendous; it was like highly skilled killers all day long and every person on my team was less capable than a bot. this was over 50 matches and i only escaped about 10 times. i'm not sure how often they adjust your mmr up or down; maybe it's every few hours, maybe it's once a day, maybe it's based on the number of matches you play, but it's definitely there.

if there is any factor, it will be the one, that manipulates u into playing the game more.
because thats what generates money. but i see through it and im sick of it.
I can tell that the matchmaking is rigged. I can feel it. And it doesnt matter to me what u say because i have experience to back it up.

  • @MechWarrior3 said:

Out of curiosity how would this add another layer of "Skill" by already knowing where the hatch is?

because you are not relying on randomness but instead get rewarded for looking at potential spawns and remembering them.

  • right lets make all event items trash so noone wants to use them. love that idea.

  • if you havent noticed, the only thing the devs care about is making as much money as possible with little effort.

Thats why the main things they focus on are dlcs & skins.

They only go out their way to do some perk nerfs if there are too many complaints but thats it.

No new modes. Nothing new and more interesting than holding m1 at generators. BP are there to trick you psychologically into thinking that u profit from playing this game, while in reality you are just waysting your time and get more depressive and enraged by playing this pile of ****.

  • @Emeal said:

I strongly dislike the moment when your team-mates give up super easily instead of going down with a fight.

If you cant handle the heat, a Bot which probably plays better than you is willing to take the fight up if you cant.

And if you give up too much, Maybe its time to stop playing and take a breather.

i took a 2 months breather just recently. so stop pretending its my fault. as a good player i can tell when the game is unwinnable, while you are in your illusion of trying to survive when there is no hope. enjoy while you can.

  • and also with addons you can improve the amount of shuriken needed to injure or how many you can throw before he goes back to his position.

  • dont get so hard stuck on the numbers, they could always change. its just about the general idea.

why would ever use this perk that has counter-play instead of 99% Sprint burst which is more reliable and works in chases? counter-play is facing a wall or downing nearby survivors. There is also Lightborn for immunity to blinds.

i would use it in combination with the new buckle up + for the people so i can get to the downed survivor before he can be picked up.

It just means being carried by the killer.

oh ok then it doesnt matter. but its weird that it doesnt just say "when carried by the killer".

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

If the Killer checked around for even a small amount of time, the perk's timer could run out, making it useless. I think it's fine as-is.

yea but thats a good thing because it allows for counterplay.

This will be a lengthy post, going into the downfall of DBD which I have witnessed across years, since 2019. I hope that someone takes note of this and makes a change for the better, because I love this game and it hurts to see the sorry state it is in.

First of all Dead by Daylight is not "dead", but the enjoyment factor is. Ask yourself, if you've been playing the game for a few hundred hours, are you still having fun? Or are you more frustrated with your matches?

Here is the reason: We might blame "matchmaking", but Dead by Daylight is predominantly played by newer players that of course lack the required experience and that's alright, they have to start somewhere, don't they? But there is a problem when the majority of players you are matched with are of that same level. If you play killer you will be bored, if you play survivor, the game will feel unfair.

    Why is this happening?

    It's a snowball effect of 2 things:

    1. Oversimplification of survivor gameplay through second-chance perks and Shift W playstyle incentives
    2. Killer focus on tunneling (which no matter what the developers tell us, we can clearly see from their patch notes that tunneling is encouraged, almost every patch adds another reason to tunnel, which is sad, for example the OTR and BT base kit patch tells killers they can get 2 birds with one stone by hitting a survivor off the hook)

Due to those compounding effects, 4 outcomes appear:

    1. 5000h Killer has boring easy matches against 200h survivors
    2. 5000h Killer has unfair matches against 5000h SWF survivors, that use the strongest builds, this is the point where DBD simply stops working (those games are rare, but they do serve as a reminder of the true state of balance in DBD)
    3. 5000h Survivor playing SoloQ along with 200h survivors that only last 10 seconds in chase, feels unfair
    4. 5000h Survivor plays SWF along with his 5000h mates and has some fun, until winning gets boring

In each of those scenarios after a number of games, the 5000h veteran player stops having fun, there is an exception for the 5000h SWF group, but that is an extremely small fringe of the player base. So what ends up happening Killers gravitate towards very powerful killers like Nurse and Blight, which give them a fighting chance against the SWF and in turn will make the experience miserable for the 200h survivors.

    So what ends up happening?

Veterans quit due to either annoyance or boredom, while intermediate players get experienced enough to see the cracks in gameplay design. So the only ones left are the new players, poor things have no clue what they got themselves into. So next time you see your teammate hide in a locker or crouch around with urban evasion or survivors running in a straight line, not looking behind when you play killer, know they aren't "bad players and the matchmaking is broken", there simply is no one for the matchmaker to pair you with other than new players.

TLDR: A realistic view of DBD's player base and the game's flaws that hopefully one day can be fixed, altho I highly doubt it since new players are more likely to buy content that veterans might already own. I know probably no one will see this, but at least I know I did my part.

First of all, what downfalls are you talking about ? If you check the steam charts there is no indication of a downfall. The average player counts remains almost the same since 2021 ( and went up till that point ). There is no downfall yet, at least when it comes to just raw players numbers. TCSM might change it.

And i do agree with you, that the game has become boring/repetitive but also unfair to play, with my 1.8k hours. Simply cant compete against a good Killer when your team is bad or vise versa.

But 5000h survivors vs 5000h killer is actually not unfair for the killer. A good example is Ayrun swf vs lilith omen. Or Ayrun vs SupaAlf. They prove thats its fairly balanced. Well there is no doubt though, that the Killer is forced to run a Killer that has enough power ceiling to compete. You would simply lose as Killer by playing something like Trapper or Pig.

I think what makes DBD bad, is the sheer amount of Killers with different abilitys. Its just not possible to get this game in a balanced state, because there is too many different Killers with different Abilitys.

And lastly, the thing we can probably agree on, is that DBD needs better matchmaking. 200h players just shouldnt be qued with 5000h players.

    I disagree, I think it's both.

A Commodious Toolbox with the right addons is undeniably busted, but "the right addons" very much includes the Brand New Parts. I'd have liked to see it all tackled at once, but any removal of ridiculous gen speed tools is good, on either side.

Now that BNPs are shaping up to be a lot more fair, that leaves toolboxes across the board needing changes- because while a Commodious with charge/speed addons is broken, a brown toolbox with no addons is borderline useless. Rebalancing across the board is a good call, imo.

i agree that everything below the best slotted toolbox is useless, because a basic medkit without any addons is just superior and built to last / streetwise dont make sense without the best. Also the toolbox addons get consumed way faster than the toolboxes do, making every other toolbox than the best in slot borderline useless.

basically the powerlevel just gets exponentially stronger but starts way too low. the toolboxes need to be equalized across the board. Also sabotaging needs to be more viable imo. The sabotage speed needs to be higher for all toolboxes except the Alex Toolbox.

  • ok i get your point but in any case, the yellow addon is still better.

also your wording is off. the toolbox doesnt complete 52 seconds of a gen, it lasts for 52 seconds of a gen.

    44 charges at 80% speed -> 35.2 seconds -> 79,2 / 90 gen completion in 44 seconds

    52 charges at 50% speed -> 26 seconds -> 78 / 90 gen completion in 52 seconds

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/383147/brand-new-part-isnt-why-genrush-is-op

the yellow speed is not worth it. you want to run two charge add-on's. wire spool and scraps is 20 charges. brand new part is 22.5 charges in 5 seconds. It is contribute factor to gen-rush but for gen-rush squads that are stacking 4 streetwise and build to last. it is 2 charge add-on alongside toolbox that make it strong. survivor will still be able to gen-rush gens but loss of BNP means that there is possible lack of counter-play to 3 gens since 4 BNP can instant complete a gen to break 3 gens.

no if you have 32 + 12 charges, the 30% repair speed are better than the 8 charges.

    44 charges + 30% -> 57,2 charges -> 57,2 - 44 -> 13,2 charges ( on top of repairing faster which is a benefit as well )

and brand new part doesnt exist to break 3 gens. Almost noone uses it on last gen because you might just be hooked at that point which wouldnt give you any further gen progress for your team.

  • i like that but they should give extra bp if you choose to run random perks and remove no mither from the pool.

  • i think pallets and pallet breaking can be kinda funny. but window blocking and insta down is lame.

and having this event-limited is fine but pls dont bring anything like that as perks.

  • buckle up, for the people, teamwork power of two, made for this could become an issue. though youll never see that outside of swf. ive tried in the past with for the people and WGLF but you just cant organize with soloq well enough to get value out of that.

  • the only thing i see broken with this perk is the combination with other perks like blood pact / power of two / hope. Its broken to be able to outspeed the killer so in my opinion, they should make a maximum speed a survior can have ( 7%).

  • seeing a perk often doesnt indicate thats its broken. there will always be meta perks and those will get run often. thats just normal.

and its not even close to old dead hard.

  • its really not a problem. its just mediocre combined with other exhaustion perks and not better on its own than balanced landing for instance. So i think its in the perfect spot.

Its weird to me that as soon as 1 perk that get released is useable, everyone starts jumping and hating on it, while thats exactly how it should be. New Perks should be useable

  • It showed Endurance but when killer hit me i got downed. so its a fake symbol.

  • i agree. Current Dbd is such a mess. SWF has a massive advantage especially because they nerfed Circle of Healing and Medkits. Medkits are the most powerful tool you have as a solo player, since searching for people is a massive timewayste and going on gens while injured is risky. But i guess the devs just dont have fundamental understanding of this game and i kinda just lose hope at this point.

  • fov is not accessability, its just gives you an advantage. thats why its a perk.

also dbd is a very competitive game so max fov would be a standard for every killer. so you should ask yourself this question:

Is the game better balance wise / better looking / has better immersion with the current fov or with the maxed out fov ?

Since everyone will then play with max fov. And i think that the current is better in every 3 of those aspects.

  • doing nothing for 45 seconds.. sounds fun

  • thats such a weird requirement. so i just need to heal myself twice while running the perk.

    1. Have you read the news about hit validation? now predominantly always on the side of the one with lower ping

    2. how did you find out the player's ping on the killer?

no, what news are you referring to ?

i can see my own ping which is always around 20ms. In the game i see the Killer gets weird hits. After the game i see the killer is from a different country.

And i doubt they could easily change the way hits are validated, because it currently looks like the hits are only based on what the killer is doing on his own screen, which makes sense. To fix this problem Its way easier to:

    a) reduce the maximum ping difference at its core

    b) bring in a selection-option that the player can choose for himself what the max ping difference can be for your opponent.

b seems like the best solution , because if you dont care about ping-dif and you just want to find games quickly, you could still do so. And if youre like me and you just wanna have fair games, you can set it down but have to wait longer to find a game.

  • solidhit.jpg

look at this. this just happened to me. thats just not fun. And it doesnt matter at which time i play, it just happens roughly every 2nd game.

  • Ok but with over 30k average players on steam alone and crossplay activated it is not possible to match me with a killer that has a ping below 100ms ? i dont believe that.

Id rather wait longer but have a fair game.

  • Honestly the thing that i hate the most about blight is not even that hes broken but that hes the killer that abuses ping differences to the maximum. the BS-hits i get from him at times make me wanna quit the game.

  • if you want to avoid cheaters, you can disable cross-play since the vast majority of cheaters are playing over console. However, if you try to find a game this way, it can take very long to get started.

  • basekit is 10s though since they buffed it, like sizzlingmario said.

  • Potential Energy XD. Good One, dude.

  • hm but to be fair, sometimes wesker gets rolled by that instead ( people call it the wesker-tech ). Where he doesnt get a hit at the window or pallet and also doesnt get a vault over it. And not sure what you mean with blight but probably has to do with his crazy movement speed and how the game doesnt correctly translate positions that fast over the server. Imo they should get rid of blight's hugtech because its very broken. at times i feel like he is the strongest killer ( even surpassing nurse ) because of it.

  • the match i had i versed a bubba and all he did is get 1 down, bring it in the 3 gen area and camped on what i labeled as (1). As soon as you try to either do a gen or get the unhook he will deadzone you by walking parallel denying acces towards the middle of the map. So this way there was zero counterplay. And sure you could argue that once bubba gets a down he can facecamp anyway and confirm a kill, however he could also deny any progress in the 3-gen area because there is just too much deadzones and he can insta down you easily.

You can, and should lure him out of there. In most cases you should just make a failed skillchek in any other gen, and killer will go there, so you can easly finish generator on a platform.

sorry to tell you but in that case you are playing against unskilled killers. Any decent Killer wont let himself get baited. And you suggesting to make mistakes in order to contest is ridiculous, dont you realize that?

  • @DaddyMyers_Mori said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3407798#Comment_3407798

Show me gameplay where killer won't commit to any chase outside his 3-gen from start of the game. Because if he did commit to chase, you could have finish it.

But if you wait till there are 2-3 gens left, of course he will start to defend it.

You realize an alternative option for him to win is tunnel someone out, right? But then survivors will complain too.

If I won't manage to have good first chase and find myself on 3 gens left with 1 hook, most killers can either tunnel, or hold 3-gen.

There was an alternative with end-game builds, but that was nerfed and almost noone is using it now.

you dont always know if the map has a broken 3-gen if you dont spawn near it. you dont know if the killer is chasing someone outside of that 3 gen unless you play swf. you dont know if the killer wants to play around the 3 gen. if you do want to contest the 3 gen early but your teammates wont, the killer can just rotate back after a chase.

  • Its so stupid when people say that its survivors job to make sure they dont 3-gen. The Killer can just camp the 3-gen area and bring hooks near them. So you cant really counterplay that against a Killer that wants to abuse it.

  • yeah youre right. If it was actually rank based like only red ranks. but it often wasnt.

  • i remember rank based on grade and it definetly was better then it is now.

  • just wait until she grabs me 4Head.

  • no. i had it happen twice. once on gideon meat planet and once on eyrie of crows, so i dont think its map related. seems to be the perk. At first i thought all totems have been cleansed but then i looked and found another totem.

  • i made that argument thinking that the unhooker gets dead hard. i didnt know it was changed.

So if i understand it correctly, Dead Hard is now activated after you got unhooked (for yourself) ?

  • It will all come down whether or not dead hard will still see play as a 2nd exhaustion perk. If it does, it will change the playstyle because it makes camping / being near the hook more profitable.
