How do you dodge huntresses hatchets?

I don't know how to dodge them. The hitbox is also ridiculous. I haven't played since adam's release and man...I'd remove SWF just to nerf killers again. Most players don't even have friends to play it. Many solo players suffer due to busted killers. How many killers complained to get all these buffs? Closed hatch, timer at the end, RUIN EVERY SINGLE GAME. I hope DBD switches up the meta...

  • The survivors in my games run straight into them and somehow manage to not get hit, so that.

  • Pray spacetime warps in the correct way for them to phase clean through your torso like everyone else

  • Hitboxes can always screw you over but here are some tips:

Never vault a window or drop a pallet when she is about to throw a hatchet. You shouldn't even drop a pallet or vault when she is close since she will probably throw a hatchet so its best to fake it.

Always try to go behind a wall when you are in a chase with her

If she is going to throw a hatchet over a short obstacle you can crouch to avoid it

You can fake going one one way and then immediately turn the other way when she is about to throw to make her miss.

If she is really really close to you, just spin around randomly and keep changing directions to make her miss.

  • i agree on the hitboxes part, i have countless clips of BS huntress hits.

The best way i can explain it is is that survivors have this long rectangle hitbox that extends out from their shoulders+waist outwards about an extra ft. This allows all these Huntress players to land countless dumb hits

  • Hide behind the equally bad debris hit boxes.

  • with these servers you just pray. literally

  • if she's trying to throw a hatchet on top of you just have a spaz attack

  • You start by not running in a straight line. Then, you break like of sight and instead of dropping pallets while she charges her hatchets, you keep looping her.

Oh, and abuse the infinites for Huntress, which are almost any building in the game.

    got a vid?

  • It depends how close you are to the Huntress. If she is relatively close then you can't really dodge the hatchet on your own. You might be able to get her to miss with some tricky movements, but a good Huntress rarely misses close range shots.

If you're farther away, then you can attempt to dodge. Just be aware that a Huntress can predict your dodge and still hit you. All I can say is practice dodging long range shots. You'll get the feel for it after playing against Huntress enough.

  • Why would you need a vid for what I just said ? If she can't see you, she can't hit you with a hatchet. Pretty simple, right ? She can't throw over loops with high walls, so use these to loop her. You can crouch at shorter walls loops to avoid the hatchet. Now I need to give you a video to show you how to crouch ?

  • You need LOS blockers. If you are out in the open... pray she is a bad shot. (they usually aren't)

For reference, these are the survivor hit boxes:

Hatchet hit boxes are spherical in shape. Instead of thinking of them like hatchets, think of them like bowling balls. They are (roughly) as wide as the hatchet themselves are long. You can use this to exploit the fact that she struggles to hit you over many low walls if you hug them (not impossible in some locations).

The reason hatchet hit boxes are like this by the way is because when they did change them to be actually proper shape, many hatchets were literally phasing through survivors' limbs. I mean, just look at how much the limbs stick out in the picture above. There's a reason they're the way they are. Only other alternative is to make survivor hit boxes bigger, which would mean the death of looping. Pick your poison.

Anyway, when a Huntress is readying a hatchet at you, concentrate for the first second on just gaining distance, and then begin weaving left and right but still concentrating on gaining distance forward. If you turn too much, you will just let her walk up to you and then you ain't dodging anything. The more distance you gain, the easier the hatchet is to dodge.

Stay out of line of sight as much as possible. Duck and weave between trees rocks, or any line of sight blocking obstacle around. Remember those large bowling ball hit boxes on her hatchets; she can't "thread the needle" on her shots, so even a small thin tree is sufficient cover if it's between you and her most of the time until she walks around it.

When looping her, drop pallets early when she doesn't have line of sight on you. She's a 110% movement speed killer, you don't need to be greedy with extending loops until she's right on top of you. Respect the fact she can whip a hatchet over a pallet you're in the middle of dropping and you'll survive against her longer. There's no reason to evade hatchets if you never give her much of a chance to even throw one in the first place.

Finally, you can just evade the hatchet when she's swinging. There's an animation and sound byte for when she throws. Though to be fair, with dedicated servers being the way they are, I wouldn't rely on this too much.

Remember that Huntress has a giant lullaby radius. When you hear it and it's approaching just run. A huntress trying to catch up to a survivor whilst not in a chase cannot do much. It can take her over a minute just to get closer enough to be considered in a chase, and hatchets from too far of a distance are easy to dodge as long as you keep an eye on her and react when she throws them accordingly.

Essentially, the main tips are these:

    1. Don't give her a chance for a clean shot whenever possible. Always try to have an object between you and her.
    2. Keep as much distance as you can.
    3. Move unpredictably.

    Very good and informative post.
