Juking and losing the killer V stringing the chase

What do you guys feel is the better tactic overall?

  • Longer chase is better for survivals. They get more time on gens

  • Depends on what helps the team, if you're a lame runner for F's sake hide and avoid us the need to carry you all game, but if you're a good runner/looper, hell yeah mate, run the killer for at least 3 gens to get an easy W.

True but if you lose the killer... killer wastes time attempting to find you again or find someone else.

And you waste time healing and finding a gen.

True but if you lose the killer... killer wastes time attempting to find you again or find someone else.

I recommend running Perks like Quick & Quiet, Iron Will and Dance With Me for that.

Ex: You looped a Jungle Gym for a while, dropped the Pallet, and there is a Locker in front of you. You fast vault the Locker, which won’t make any noise (thanks to Quick & Quiet). The Killer will most likely think you kept looping as your Scratch Marks didn’t disappear yet. After the Killer passes by, you leave the Locker and hide behind a rock or something like that. By then, the Killer will probably have lost you.

Iron Will allows you to perform corner jukes and hide mid-chase much better while injured.

Dance With Me can really confuse the Killer.

You can perform various Locker jukes using it.

Locker jukes are basically performed by fast vaulting a Locker (which won’t make any noise) after dropping a Pallet or making a turn. They work particularly well if they are performed after looping a structure.

Iron Will helps you perform corner jukes and hide mid-chase while injured.

Dance With Me can really confuse the Killer if they don’t have a clear vision of you after vaulting the Window.

  • Only if you wanna waste that time... it's not hard finding gens and if you're competent in chases theres no need to heal...

  • In terms of wasting time, running the Killer around for 5 Gens would be much more effective. It find it extremely unlikely that the Killer will be looking for you for 5 Gens. And it’s true: You will waste time healing, looking for another Gen etc.

    Basically this right here.

If you're the strongest runner/looper in the lobby and you know it (playing SWF for example) it's probably more beneficial if you just try to run the killer for as long as possible. It's not even "toxic" to try to get the killer's attention in such a case, it's simply the right play. Even if you don't KNOW, if you're feeling confident (and the confidence is grounded in reality 😄) and the killer decides to chase you it might be beneficial to just run them

If you're less skilled/confident at that then breaking chase is a lot more valuable overall, as the time lost by the killer if they lose you might be a harsher hit than the time it'd take them to down you. It's also VERY handy to still know how to attempt to break chase, as against something like a sufficiently skilled Nurse it can quickly become your #1 option by a big margin.

  • Sometimes I'm the bait for a gen or 2, sometimes I want to go do a gen myself because my teammates aren't

Btw a good runner is not automatically someone who can stand a chase for a long time. It's more like a combination of a long chase and beeing careful with resources (pallets). Someone is not a good runner who runs the killer for 2 minutes but wasted all the strong pallets and left multiple dead zones. But someone who lasted 1 and a half minute but barely used any pallets is the true good runner and a really good team mate and "respectful" towards his team.
