Can someone tell me why Wraith isn't considered the worst killer?
Supposed to be a stealth killer but he is still visible, making it very difficult to even get near a survivor who is above rank 15. His power doesn't help him in a chase, and he is the definition of a killer that eats pallets for days. Say what you want about Freddy, at least he is actually invisible, making it easier to find survivors as when they hear the lullaby they don't know in which direction it's coming from. Many people see Wraith as mid tier, I'm just curious how he is considered good when he is very lackluster when I use him and when I verse him.

Just like Nurse and Hillbilly, if you know how to play Wraith correctly, he’s a very powerful Killer in certain terms. :)
Wraith is a monster if done right. No bell/undiscernable distance and either auras within 12 m or the grey to remain no tr for 6 seconds is nasty in itself.
Add some situational perks. Nurses + sloppy/thana if you want to destroy people.
Tinkerer/butter murmer if you want gen control.
Devour/haunted + thrill if you want to track and smack.
And those are really simple ones. With all the perks we have now you could (IMO) easily get to red ranks with wraith.
Wraith is damn good after his rework. Give him windstorm and swift hunt addons (imo should be basekit, naked wraith is still kinda hardcore to dominate) and he is deadly af. With certain perks like nurses, spirit fury and enduring you can end chases damn quick.
Is he high tier? Hell no, swf can still stomp him. Especially when they use OoO cuz they can still see you beeing invisible.
But he's better than Leatherface, Freddy (ofc), pig, trapper, doctor and Legion imo
He's not the worst killer because at least his power isn't negative utility. He is at worst a 115% killer, while Freddy is worse than a default 115% because of the dream transition problem
because his ability allows him to sneak up to survivors and then, thanks to the speedburst he gets after uncloaking, is already very close to them.
wraith is not about being invisible (which can be achieved by standing still while cloaked btw), but about the terror radius being turned off, which allows you to sneak up on them easily.
also, there is freddy. the only killer whose power is actually hindering him in the game.
I love how people say Freddys power is only negative, even though he gets the strongest aura reading and stalling in the game in his base kit, and even his dream transition gives him potential for mindgames, the 7 seconds is a justified drawback. And not to mention that he can also use it for the best mindgames that aren't Spirits. Once mastered you can either force them to heal or start a chase with an headstart.
What does Pig do that Freddy doesn't do better? He has less limited stalling, and better stealth on top of the best tracking in the game.
I'd consider Wraith low mid-tier. His power helps him a bit with the chase and it helps him with moving on the map faster.
Freddy is by far the weakest killer. Freddy has to watch totems getting destroyed, gens getting finished and people getting unhooked in front of him because he has to wait for the dream transition to be over. He can't even pick up a downed survivor as long as the other survs are healing the downed person. No other killer is that helpless.
Why say hes good just too say good saviors can destroy him. If a killer cannot beat a good survivor team the killer is underpowered you're basically saying he's good at destroying casual players that aren't good at the game.
Wraith is too busy face camping himself in the mirror to be bothered by pallets
That's not what I said (or meant to say). Wraith gets stomped by death squads, and nearly every killer can get stomped by death squads except nurse, billy and spirit (with certain addons).
This doesn't mean that wraith is trash, or the worst killer. It just means swf is to powerful.
Because when using his power, you have no terror radius and you go faster. The best way to hit survivors is uncloacking near them (behind a wall) or bodyblocking. It's also helpful to counter looping but the best fact of him is that you can easily farm whith him with surprise attacks.
He gets easy value out of invis. Since sprintburst stopped beeing meta, he can often get the first hit. Its not a oneshot, but still helpful to start chases injured, even against good survivors (although they are more likely to see you or make it to pallets in time). Bing bong is easy to use for relatively high rewards
Freddy and Legion have to battle their drawbacks. They have their upsides, but good loopers can play around it.
The first hit is VERY important on Wraith, his Daily doesn't encourage Surprise Attacks for nothing.
If you don't get that in, then yes, it gets worse to play as him.
But i find it VERY easy to pull off the first hit, no matter if they're aware of me or not.
There's counters of course: People using Sprint Burst and who saw me are usually the ones who do make me fail.
But idk, i guess i've just gotten better at my literal approach.
He's also one of many reasons why i just love running Devour Hope on him.
Setting the Hex Totem weakness aside, being able to literally ignore chases because you 1-hit out of cloak is devastatingly powerful.
How often does the totem even stand long enough to get the tokens?
He often catches survivors out of position. No terror radius and being hard to see from a distance can do that. On top of that his speed burst while unclocaking can give him an advantage at some loops if played correctly.
That's more than some other killers can do. Plus his speed add-ons are pretty good, really help keep up the pressure.
It's just a shame that sprint burst alone pretty much nullifies any advantage he has.
About once every 2 matches.
I can remember many times where they were cleansed instantly, but i just remember those cause they suck, there's way more times where i did actually get multiple Tokens.
Interesting. At what rank, and for how long does it stand after you get the 3 tokens?
From rank 15 to 6 last month, other months i don't remember.
If i play more defensively of my Hex Totem, i can often bring it to 5 Tokens.
That sometimes works while playing more aggresively too, but naturally i'm not defending it then so it's vulnerable.
It's when it's at 5 Tokens that it's the most vulnerable: Ya' gotta go through a long-ass Mori animation and then make it back to DH in time, which is what the smarter Survivors take advantage of.
Wraith profits a lot from mindgames and it's no different when he runs Hex Perks.
I've caught dozens of Survivors off-guard at my Hex Totems just for faking to walk away. At which point i just do the same as usual: Uncloak, get speed boost and then (1-)hit.
What about add-ons? I've been running the bone clapper and ringing the bell at the start to advertise that I have it, alongside the Ghost add-on (the one that hides your TR and stain for a few seconds after uncloaking). The idea is that survivors will realize they can't trust the bell, get overconfident when they don't see the red stain nor hear the TR, then get grabbed off of generators (or just hit).
Does this work against SWF? I've had more 3-man and 4-man SWF in my trials this past week than I'd care to remember.
Frankly, i don't think i'm one to give advice on Bone Clapper builds.
I really dislike it, it takes away what i've been practicing on Wraith, which is the more sneaky approaches.
I'm not saying it's bad (cause i just don't know), all i know is that it's not my style.
I imagine this doesn't differ much whether they're SWF or not, but there would be exceptions.
For example, if one's already dead, some people will have 4 eyes.
Or there's a chance someone sees you uncloak from an other Generator they're at, and warn their buddies that you're behind a wall.
I can see it's a fun plan, but you'll get hit back to being an M1 Killer without Powers if you fail.
I just want to know what your build is and why you use the things (add-ons and perks) you do. Mine has worked so far, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.
My build is designed to make Devour Hope succeed.
But i also make sure the build isn't super weak if Devour Hope gets disabled.
Barbecue & Chili, because it synergises WAY too well with Devour Hope to not equip it.
Enduring + Spirit Fury (currently), to shorten chases and counter Decisive Strikes. (Wraith's weakness is obviously chases.)
Then for Add-ons, i mainly run the Windstorm series.
Blood + White is naturally the best combination, but even just Mud gives a massive boost.
I run these the most for 2 reasons.
1: To be able to apply some pressure. Yes, it's an actual thing on him now and i love it.
2: To be more defensive of my Hex Totem.
If i run out of those, i go after Swift Hunt.
They're not as great anymore as Wraith doesn't need them as much anymore, but they still do well what they need to do.
It can be nice to reach them before a nearby pallet, and unlike Windstorm, you keep your uncloak speed boost.
If i run out of THOSE...then i should start earning more BP. 🤣
Say you didn't have BBQ. What would you use then?
Pop Goes The Weasel.
Alright. Thank you for the tips, once I get bored of Adiris I'll give it a shot. Right now I'm just getting as much BP as possible for her release.
One more tip: Experiment: Wraith's more versatile than i believe people generally see him. (Though there's nothing there that can help him out of mid tier.)
Like i said before, i don't think what you were trying is wrong, but there's a lot more to Wraith nowadays thanks to the updates on him and his Add-ons.
While my strategy is certainly legit, you might end up with one neither of us uses currently.
windstorm + swift hunt = nothing more mid tier than that
Wraith is good with his new buffed add ons. Take 'em away and he's not so hot.
@op because freddy exists.
wraith got a minor buff what is mostly offset with the new decloak timer but his addons lost the nagative side effects what gave him at least a few options.
freddy is and the post release nerf that killed off the devs integrity is the result of mass dc´s review bombing and everything the most dense part of the playerbase had at their disposal to shape the game the way they want
if a killer needs addons to work propperly; they are not good.
if a killer has the option to use addons and offerings to change the playstyle into something completly different and is still as effective as without. its good design and viable
Because
