Any form of bleeding survivors out needs to be bannable.

These Discussions have been going on forever and it always comes down to "Its a valid strategy". it shouldn't be, and the game shouldn't punish the survivors for leaving when they are being stood on top of and bled out. or being slugged all game and forced to bleed out but one person is running around the edge of the map so the game is technically not over.

A lot of the reason DBD is more and more Toxic is because the devs write off extremely toxic and bad forms of play as "strategy" and "part of the game" I understand there are definitely times where Tunnelling and Slugging in normal senses have to happen or you're going to lose as a killer but there is never a situation where you need to start a game by bleeding out survivors and camping someone while they die on the ground.

the worse thing about it is that the "Press Tab to Disconnect" option is super badly configured, people should be able to immediately leave a game where people are being slugged relentlessly and as an extension if someone DC's for their own reason, the game should be free to leave for literally everyone else. that's not a new concept for PvP games and every MOBA has a function similar.

its not a secret that the Killers who utilize the most toxic elements of "Strategy" are almost always from the outset trying to BM people, its super noticeable in every game that these things happen in when a killer is utilizing something because they need to do that to win and when they are doing it because they can, and its Behaviors fault for allowing them to do that. Its true that there are tons of things Survivors can do that are Toxic and BM oriented as well but the difference is that The Killers are the ones with the power imbalance. the game is inherently killer sided (and it should be) which means its on Behavior to prevent Killers from doing things that make the game unplayable or uninteractive from the outset. why can perma slugged survivors not pick themselves up at a point? why is it not considered Stalling the game to stand on a downed survivor and not try to find the other survivor(s) until they bleed out? "because Survs can still do gens and objectives" in Solo Queue that nearly never happens, and it ends up with a Mikaela or Sable running back and forth on the corner of the map until you bleed out on the ground.

Honestly the "its a valid Strategy" people need to get over themselves, just because something IS Viable, doesn't mean it SHOULD be, if you were playing a soulslike and it was possible for a boss to lock you in a box for five minutes and you couldn't leave without a penalty it would be a "Valid Game Mechanic" but a very bad one, likewise spawn trapping and spawncamping people in the older shooters were "Valid Game Mechanics" but they sucked and they made people hate the game and erased the point of the game. when someone is abusing a part of the game to the detriment of the flow of gameplay maybe it shouldn't be a valid part of the game anymore. DBD is Inherently a "Hide and Seek" game with mechanics thrown into it to make it replayable, it isn't meant to be a "Hide and Seek, but when I find you i am going to prevent you from hiding and stop seeking" game. and even if in some cases these forms of game stalling are able to be ended, that doesn't mean it's okay either. if the solution to tunnelling is that everyone has to stay on gens and just crank out gens until the gates are powered then its no wonder people hate it when the game isn't marketed as a "Press Spacebar for 10 minutes" experience, its a "valid Strategy" that removes the fun from the game experience. Slugging is the same, unless you are in a SWF it is highly unlikely that survivors are even going to do the right thing which is gens and they are going to run over and try to help the survivor who is being stood on which feeds into a super toxic idea becoming a valid strategy in a game where it shouldn't be. and if people who primarily utilize these things have a problem with trying to remove them or diminish them then they should be fine with players being able to quit without penalty because literally nobody wants to be in a game where that is happening.

  • The problem is when we ban people for not hooking we have to then look into banning people that don't unhook. Being slugged is no different to being on hook, you can't get yourself back into the game without the aid of someone else, you are stuck in that situation until you die or someone helps.

If you are on hook and 3 random people each think someone else will go for the unhook and no one does then should survivors be banned for leaving you in a position where you cant do anything until you die?

It sounds like you have an issue with the core concept of a survivor being prevented from playing the match which both slugging and hooks both do.

Also we have tried the whole "pick themselves up" many times and survivors abused it by making it impossible to hook them.

I recently had a match where 3 people had full anti hook builds, I didn't want to slug but they forced my hand..... Slugged the lot of them

The Real problem is that DBD is descending further into having tons of now overlapping issues that the devs don't do much in the way of working to fix, even the recent gameplay survey regarding characters was mostly about whether people do or dont want to play a character because of the way they look… I understand what you are saying but at the same time something HAS to change, the game isnt going to get less toxic if these problems with the core gameplay don't change.

There should definitely be competitive VS a more casual arcade mode always available in DBD because as we all know SWFs can absolutely abuse things that are totally fine in Solo Queue. a more arcade like Solo/Duo queue exclusive mode with the continued non-impactful monthly rankings and less balance would be fun complimented by a more competitively minded balance focused mode that does allow 4man groups and a real ranking and more robust MMR system and I think would resolve a lot of issues. but its undeniable that gameplay mechanics which create a very real and constant sense of "This Sucks" aren't good for any game, much less so when the person experiencing them has no way out.

Hooks and Slugging are definitely much different. for starters hooks have anticamp now and many perks to assist a survivor on the hook and to give information to the team when you are on hook. Killers can actually stand directly on top of you and not experience any form of negative interaction for doing that, and your death timer slowly counts down with no way for your team to help effectively, remember I am talking about Solo Queue, its nearly incomparible to SWF gameplay and the lack of information survivors get in Solo Queue is staggering and leads to people diving hooks and not doing objectives when people are being slugged which ruins an entire game.

  • If you play a killer character that has weak chase potential, you're not helping your pressure by hooking.

  • Things that are in the game by design shouldn't be bannable. They need to be fixed in the game. And this is something that should be fixed.

then the Killer needs to be tweaked so they don't have to do this.

also, this is definitely not true in most cases of people being bled out, people are just doing it because they can a lot of the time

True, that is an alternative but there are valid reasons to slug like when people are trying actively to prevent you from picking up or hooking a survivor or certain situations in the game that not slugging a survivor or two will lose you the game, im talking mostly about bleeding out, where multiple times per game survivors find themselves on the ground bleeding to death when the killer could easily have hooked them
