Ideas for Gameplay and Balance Adjustments
Hello! I’d like to share some ideas and suggestions regarding the game…
GENERAL
First-Person Mode for Survivors
Add an optional first-person perspective for survivors. This would greatly increase immersion and horror. While it could introduce gameplay challenges, this mode could be incentivized with bonus Bloodpoints to compensate and encourage experimentation.
Limited-Time Modes
Bring back Lights Out and 2v8 more frequently. Potentially, these modes could even be combined or rotated more consistently to keep the game feeling fresh.
SURVIVORS
Innate Survivor Identity
Each original survivor could have a small, innate version of their personal perks built into their kit. These effects wouldn’t be as strong as the full perk versions (e.g., 50–75% effectiveness), but would help differentiate survivors beyond cosmetics.
Prestiging a survivor would still teach their perks as usual, but that survivor wouldn’t need to equip them to benefit from their weaker innate versions.
Anti-Tunnel Base Protection
Decisive Strike and/or Off the Record could partially exist as base-kit mechanics when a survivor is unhooked, possibly in a weaker form than their perk versions.
Post-Unhook Protection
After being unhooked, survivors could receive temporary protection against aura reading, tracking, or loud noise notifications.
Alternatively, this protection could always apply to the most recently unhooked survivor, discouraging tunneling.
KILLERS
Totem Protection (Early Game)
Totems can currently spawn very close to survivors, making them easy to cleanse instantly. Possible solutions:
- Totems cannot be cleansed during the first minute of the match.
- If cleansed early, their effects linger briefly.
- Require a specific item to cleanse totems (e.g., a tome or ritual object found on the map).
- Items could speed up cleansing rather than being mandatory.
Totems (Bonus Idea)
All totems start unlit. The killer chooses which totems become active, adding strategy and reducing bad RNG.
Early-Game Base Kit for Killers
A weakened version of Corrupt Intervention and/or Lethal Pursuer could be base kit, giving killers preparation time without matching the full perk duration.
Spirit Fury as Base Kit
A weaker version of Spirit Fury could be base kit, charging after a certain number of stuns. Kicking pallets could either contribute or be optional.
KILLER-SPECIFIC IDEAS
Ghost Face
Ghost Face could always be Undetectable, keeping his stealth fantasy intact.
To balance this:
- Increase the amount of stalking required to expose survivors (similar to old Myers with add-ons).
- Once an expose occurs, Ghost Face temporarily loses Undetectable, creating a clear cycle of stealth → pressure → vulnerability.
Huntress
Separate the Terror Radius and Lullaby mechanically:
- The Terror Radius would interact normally with perks/add-ons.
- The Lullaby could extend farther and apply minor effects (removed when entering the Terror Radius), such as:
- Blindness
- Distorted audio (skill checks, footsteps, crows, etc.)
Trapper
Trapper should start the match with traps already in hand, or be able to retrieve them from lockers.
Traps could slowly rearm themselves (similar to certain add-ons), but without injuring survivors who disarm them, improving quality of life without excessive lethality.
… These are just some ideas I’ve been thinking about. If I come up with more, I may add them later! Thanks for reading ;)
