Audio Settings

I think it would be really helpful for the Dead By Daylight team to change how the existing audio tab works in the settings.

My suggested change is to simply seperate the "Main Volume" slider into sound effects, chase music, and voice lines.

It would be nice to not have my music interrupted by the chase themes. The only way around that is to mute all the game audio.

Thank you Behavior for making a cool game. May these changes come quickly, should they be implemented.

  • i think that wont happen cause the way i understood this is that the chase music is so loud by intention so while in chase you have a harder time listening to sound cues.

in your particular case it would not matter cause you listen to musik anyway but im sure most people would lower the chase musik to hear the sound cues of the game better wich is not intendet by bhvr

^ This. BHVR uses the loud chase music to balance the game.

There was recently another thread about this (and many more before it, because 99% of players want to be able to save their hearing from the future tinnitus that awaits us all from this blaring klaxonic chase music), and this was my answer there:

Unfortunately, the devs actually use the chase music to balance the game. (This isn't a guess, they have outright stated this.) That means players will continue to get their eardrums blown out if they try to have the volume loud enough to hear those nearly silent footsteps. I gave up trying to use sound to track anyone years ago, I've always found directional audio in this game to be absolutely useless, especially with BHVR's nonsensical audio occlusion. God forbid I think I hear the hatch or injured survivor, I go in a circle and somehow end up looking in the wrong direction every time.

Other games are designed in a manner where the music is optional and players are allowed to turn it off if they feel it's interfering with their ability to hear useful sounds. That's not the case with DbD, where a large number of the killers get washing machine screeches as chase music just to make sure it's loud and obnoxious enough to drown out the audio players want to hear.

Ahh this is the post I remember it from I just didn't actually remember wich post it was

  • I just wish you could decide to have default chase music so you don't have to listen to those horrendous sounds called chase musics... Like seriously we have like 7 or so that are all a 2 second loop of washing machine sounds...

And other than that an option to disable voice lines would also be nice, just because they tend to get old after some time...

  • Combine chase music with the occasional sound occlusion on certain maps and i go from being muffled and underwater to blaringly loud. There has to be a better way for all of us suffering with early onset hearing loss from things like wildly varying volumes of explosion sfx/loud music etc. in games.
