  • There is no cross progression from PC to console - including Xbox to Windows Store.

  • Cross progression is currently not available for anyone outside of Epic and Steam. Switch version was talked about but is on hiatus while PS/Xbox are unknown if they'll ever come.

Stadia is also no longer available since it has shut down.

  • Insane to me Xbox -> Microsoft store isn't done yet. I feel like its an intentional hold back but who knows Ig

Until BHVR has their own mandatory login for all players that they hold on their own database (A BHVR account), cross progression would be a pain in the arse and likely prone to errors.

They do have BHVR accounts but as far as I’m aware it’s still basically in “beta” testing.

Not sure if they’ve given up on that front or not though.

We have BHVR accounts which are currently used for Cross Progression between other platforms.

Cross Progression is not solely down to ourselves.

    Ah, gotcha.

That’s a bit unfortunate. You’d think that reducing 3rd party sunk cost fallacy would assist in movement of players to purchase 1st party exclusives all around in greater volumes.

Could be weird intricacies with IP licenses holders wanting to double dip, but that would likely be less lucrative than the influx of new/returning players exposed to the market thanks to a greater ease of access.

They give that "its not down to us!" Excuse quite often. It's getting tiring when companies clearly don't care especially Xbox -> Microsoft store or even Xbox -> Steam, both of which are perfectly fine with crossplay. My bets are either

    1. They wont do it because Sony won't approve it and they don't want the rage of the playstation fanbase being 'left out' so now no one gets it
    2. They wont do it because it earns them more money for people to restart all purchases from scratch as well as inflating player count since then people have to play longer to grind for their stuff back.

When it comes to 3rd party hardware and licenses, it quite literally isn't just up to them.

Odds are they have to also talk to all of their existing IP license holder collaborators (which this game has a significantly higher number of) and get them on board too, depending on what kind of contracts they created earlier on in the games lifecycle. (And to make sure they don't cause any bad blood that may make future collaborations harder to achieve).

Well the IP holders clearly have 0 problem with it as cross progression already exists between systems and was about to for nintendo and BHVR before assumedly Nintendo cancelled. And considering Xbox has never had a problem with cross progression for any games (Even Paladins has cross progression amongst every system and they have less than 10% of the players DBD does), I highly doubt its just 'third party' issues and more than likely a BHVR issue

  • It's unfortunate that no forethought was put into this when planning to release the game across so many platforms. Particularly consoles, which want to lock you into using their hardware as that's a big source of cash for them up-front and can hold you at least until the next gen console cycle starts again for continual revenue.

Just the smallest amount of thinking ahead would have had all player accounts, regardless of source, deposit their saved game info onto a site owned by BHVR so the players were allowed an exit path.
