There is no Magical ''High Level'' in DBD

Often i see people saying that there is no other way to play but tunnel and camp at high level and i agree, if you are playing in tournaments or comp, sure. There is no other way.

But for casual play the soft cap for MMR is so low that its basically trivial to reach it. Meaning even if you keep winning and winning you dont encounter this magical sweaty survivor gods that are unloopable and knows everything there is to know about every map. Even most swfs are barely just a notch above solos. You still get decent but basically average survivors and from time to time you even get potatoes because thats how SBMM works.

Stop with this notion that this game is anything but casual.

  • High MMR is just something people say to stroke their egos. Anyone who actually wins a lot and isn't a narcissist can clearly see that they aren't getting matched with comp players every game. Some higher level killers like Scott and Otz have had the honesty to come out and admit this but there are still other popular figures in the DBD community who feed into the lie that high MMR is an unwinnable nightmare where you only ever go against the best of the best in every game. High MMR survivors are actually so unspectacular that there is a sizeable group of people who legitimately believe all streamers derank their MMR off stream.

Maybe it was a thing before but since they lowered the cap, i think like 6 months ago, its fine really.

i'm more inclined to think that they have their mmr separated from the rest of the playerbase since i see them going aganist potatoes most of the times while in the meantime i'm facing tryharders 8/10 of my matches... sometimes i found a weak team, but those matches aren't funny either since it's too much easy to end chases... all that i ask is to have matches where i can play how i want with decent people but without being forced to use the same 2 tactics every game in order to have the chance to do a good amount of points.

  • There was a good discussion on it back when they were lowering the cap. Peanits gave some good info (and said there are very players in high MMR)

  • You are ruining magic for them :(

They loves to call themself top level players even nobody is seeing mmr levels.

  • Wouldn't say the survivor high MMR cap is trivial to reach, especially for solo players. The killer MMR one, on the other hand, definitely is. You only need 1 kill to gain MMR, it's absurd.

Pretty sure if you get 1 kill you lose mmr? Dunno what you are on about really, do you mean when the other 3 dcs or something?

  • Quick guide on whether or not tunnelling is necessary:

You're playing nurse/blight - you're a max MMR God, you have to tunnel

You're playing anyone else - your killer is too weak, you have to tunnel

Your survivors seem to have a vague understanding of what pallets and windows are - elite SWF, activate tunnel protocols

Your survivors are urban evading through the foliage - advanced SWF tactic to make you let your guard down. Don't be fooled, get to tunnelling

Survivor does anything - this is BM, you know what must be done to restore your honour

Survivor is bad in chase - tunnel the weak link!

Survivor is good in chase - THEYRE MAKING YOU LOOK STUPID DELETE THEM

Survivor is average in chase - hmm idk better tunnel them to be on the safe side

  • True. It's ridiculous how the fear of the sweaty comp 4-man SWF is ingrained in the mind of some killers, when its literally such a rare demographic of survivors that even in high mmr you won't encounter them that often. It's all-encompassing to the point that a lot of new killer players who watch content creators will actually shake in their boots in the lobby if they smell a possible SWF (or even a single flashlight).

Accoding to my friend, half the teams he faces are well-coordinated 3 and 4-men who will BM him every match. Yet I've seen maybe one genuine "bully squad" since I started playing. We're in the same killer mmr bracket. And it's not high.

There is just a lot of paranoia in this game.

I've won plenty of solo games then been accused of being in a 4-man SWF in postgame chat even though my friends' list is public. People don't like losing against solos at all and would rather believe that the only way they could ever lose is though a highly disciplined squad all on comms using their advanced training to call out everything the killer does before it even happens

What if they pallet stun me, sensei?

Exactly. And this unwillingness to admit defeat against solos only encourages the idea that swfs are everywhere and all-powerful, and that it's worth it nerfing all survivors, most of them solos, to counter the mythical comp swfs.

  • Up here in highest MMR we tend to respect every pallet to avoid stuns so it sounds like you're dealing with a hacker. DC and/or tunnel
