Rework Stealth killers into Chase killers

Stealth killers don't work. DbD isn't meant to be played like that, it's a lesson anyone who has played stealth games learns very easily with DbD.

Consider these facts: Survivors have smaller characters than killers thus their exposition is inferior when compared to killers.Third person Perspective gives survivors an advantage to look over objects, denying the fact killers can hide their presence, as such, abilities like Nighshroud, Pig's Crouch and any other stealth ability aren't very viable cause their visibility is assured to survivors but taken away from the killer. As easily as a Survivor can crouch in a corner or next to a barrel and killers won't see them. Survivors are the stealth killers...

Why do Stealth killers have TR and Red Stain? Those defeat the purpose of Stealth. Since having TR and Red Stain is NORMAL for every killer the moment a stealth killer loses those it's a MASSIVE WARNING for survivors.

Just imagine IF GF's weapon was PH's Great Knife... would that make sense for a stealth killer? No it wouldn't, so neither does all the PAINFULLY OBVIOUS WEAKNESSES they have.

Rework Stealth killers.

  • Didn't read past the 2nd or 3rd comment.. but seriously..

There's only a handful of stealth killers, out of 28 killers.. I don't want every killer to be a clone of one another, please leave stealth killers alone.

Same with teleporting killers. Yes, there's been more of those lately, but they're still a minority.

The game having only W+M1 killers would suck so bad. It's bad enough that survivor is an M1 similator, please don't turn killer into a boring W+M1 chore.

They tried that whole not being detected with Spine Chill and Premo a while ago before GF was even announced. The community revolted.

I learned to position myself well in case of Myers being around, until I knew it wasn't him. How difficult can that be?

I am around since September 18 btw.

Hard disagree. There should never be a reward for doing nothing. If you don't wanna or simply can't invest time in learning, then I'm not sorry to say this but that's tough luck. There are some things that you should never get for free, specifically nonessentials. This is a nonessential, therefore it should not be free.

I mean, the ONLY reason I started playing killers was because of The Ghost Face. I prestige III'd him, and I've gotten to Iridescent I every "season".

He's certainly not S tier, but he's still a lot of fun. My main gripe is stealth DOES tend to go to the wayside at higher MMR and it ends up just charging up stalks then doing boring M1 chases. Stealthers are great on indoor maps, but not so great at outdoor maps. I feel that stealthers need some sort of additional ability to make up for the lack of ability to stealth with how people can just aim their camera down and see over walls to see anyone coming a mile away.

A simple suggestion for addressing it at least for GF ties into lore. The entity typically empowers killers in someway. The GF is just a dude with the knife. The entity could empower him by making him not visible (or at least a low to the ground smoke cloud) to anyone further than 32 meters away. This would allow him to travel from a distance unseen, but once he's within 32 meters, he's fully visible.

A more creative suggestion for The Ghost Face is that, much like where his inspiration comes from, there are actually TWO killers. This is simulated by Ghost Face being able to "mark" a locker. Once marked, another "The Ghost Face" hides inside. After that, the killer can enter another locker somewhere. This will essentially "teleport" him to the marked locker where he comes out as the "other killer", and now the locker he had just entered is the new marked locker. This will help him get around the map a bit better and have a better approach to an area than just walking there and being seen coming a mile away. If a survivor opens a locker with an inactive "The Ghost Face", there's a jumpscare, the survivor is exposed, but the inactive The Ghost Face closes the door. Either that, or the locker has a "The Ghost Face" outfit hanging inside, so the survivor knows that's a marked locker, but can't go in the locker. Maybe give The Ghost Face 3 marks to apply to lockers. Would be kind of like the Dredge, but he'd have to hop into a locker to activate the power, and he'd be limited to what lockers he could swap to.

Long story short, stealth killers are just fine and give a new take on going up against a killer. However, they DO need some sort of crutch due to third person cameras on the survivors.

Your idea sounds more like a legion rework tbh

You are right those things are non essential i completly agree with you i simply said that the casual mindset, that is the majority of players and BHVR itself demands free rewards for doing nothing which is why Terror Radius and Red Stain exist, so survivors can get free info on the killer instead of learning what to look for, where to look, how to loop, etc. None of those skills and time investment matter, and they never will. That casual mindset is why Shift W works as well as it does.

It's not that difficult, it's just that the game is for casual people, casual people don't want to spend time learning how to play. It's why the tutorial sucks and always has sucked and always will suck. All you learn is DO GENS.

okay but shift W is not a product of the casual mindset, shift W is the product of poor map design

Isn't that a problem of many people nowadays? That they are not willing to learn? If everything is ez, then it is boring. Sure dbd should not be like Dark Souls or Tarkov, but you should at least use some of your brain cells in this game.

it's both. If the issue was map design only then they'd change it. They want Shift W to be a viable option.

Yeah. It's why playing killer is the only option for some people, some people want to exercise their brain, to theorize and practice add-on and perk combos to make builds, they want to know every single detail about a killers power to master the killer, etc. Same thing still applies to Survivor but in a much smaller scale since whatever survivor you pick it's always the same, there's no unique details to learn. Movement is the same for every survivor for example.

  • Honestly, stealth killers just need to be made invisible when too far away, maybe give them a weak mobility option like the Dredge's locker teleport, but requiring you to actually go into the locker first before you do your killer jump cut to being in front of a survivor.

  • The Legion has no issue with map traveling with his speed, however. He doesn't need a teleport.

I mean thematically, frank goes in locker, julie pops out if another one, its just too bad that they share a knife

  • i love stealth killers actually. just because you don't enjoy how they play doesn't mean they don't belong in the game. they don't have to be top tier to be enjoyable.

stealth killers could use a bit of love but they make things interesting.

  • I've been playing Scratched Mirror Mikey and Sadako religiously for the past 2 months, Most games ending in a 3-4k. Stealth killers need information to work, All of them should have a way to see auras baked into their powers. Stealth gives up everything to get in close, The reward should be a chance at a gen grab or cutting off a injured survivor. Sadako's map-wide mobility doesn't mean much when you're just jumping from loop to loop while gens pop.

    Scratch Mirror should be basekit.

Sadako's addon that shows the aura of anyone holding a tape while near a active TV should have been basekit.

I wish survivors had a green stain while a killer is undetectable and within a certain range. They can just spin their camera around while on the gen and if you get lucky you can sneak up on them. Stealth needs that information.

Funny, I was literally thinking that for GF and Myers...being able to see a survivor stain IF they are on a gen. However, it might be a bit OP considering you could just wait until they aren't looking which would mean looking around would be mostly pointless as the survivor.

That being said, the spinechill nerf should help significantly.

they'd still be a useless M1 killer in terms of chasing on these bloody safe maps.

I don't enjoy how they play, i love stealth, what i'm saying is stealth in dbd is non existent. In terms of stealth survivors have all the advantages. Smaller characters, able to look around corners without exposing themselves, they are more silent aswell and they have perks to make them absolutly, completly silent.

Stealth is for Survivors not killers.

IF you're Scratch Mirror Myers then you're waiting for them behind walls right? Well you'll only make use of it in indoor Maps. IF you're using Nightshroud you have no TR and Stain but the Reveal range and radius is a pretty big weakeness, you can be Revealed by someone you weren't aware off and there's nothing you can do besides eating the cooldown. And you have to expose yourself to stalk, meaning they can see you too, so they can just run ahead while you try to stalk and now you're further away.

And when you are Revealed you got TR and Stain back so you have no aproach and you also have no POWER to do anything else, no mobility, no chase, no stalking cause you can't stalk without stealth, you got nothing. You're Trapper without Traps, you're the basic mold of every killer, a sillouette with a weapon to hit survivors. That does not make sense for any killer. NO KILLER SHOULD BE LEFT WITH 0 POWER.

I'm sorry but being left with no power doesn't make the game interesting to me. Everything GF does leaves him on Cooldodwn, be revealed? go into cooldown, hit? go into cooldown, miss? go into cooldown, pick up someone? go into cooldown... EVerything GF does leaves in with no power. What kind of design is this!? Everything a killer does deactivates him? ######### who came up with these weaknesses?

  • Stealth killers are fine as is. Sometimes being sneaky when survivors least expect it can be a powerful tool.

Wraith is known to be able to mess with SWF by starving them of information, and can use his uncloak speed boost to attain hits where other killers would struggle to shut down loops.

Shape has some of the most intimidating early game plays, because granting just a bit of stalk to him can mean big problems further down the line. While I think the Shape certainly needs a buff, removing his stealth is not the way to go about it.

Pig has a nice bit of stealth on-command that can make her early game quite apprehensive. Her primary abilities include shutting down unsafe loops and granting massive mid-game slowdown.

Ghostface fills the air with paranoia with constant Night Shroud use and the ability to make a stealthy approach - stalking survivors and saving them for an opportune time to put them in the ground for a selfie.

Onryo has a massive teleportation ability that stacks on survivors and allows her to kill them if they do not engage in her slowdown mechanic.

Removing stealth from any of these killers not only effects their playstyle, but the core identity of their kit.

Stealth is a playstyle on its own, and without it - matches would play out the same and be a lot less interesting. Variety is the spice of life. Not every killer needs to be the same.
