Returning survivor feedback
As someone who's really enjoyed a good number of hours playing DBD, I was disappointed to come back after a break for a couple of months to find a new wiggle method which provides no benefit over the old one, hooks are still so close together (without an addon) that even if you hit perfect skill checks everytime its impossible to avoid being hooked unless the killer is really stupid and doesn't know where or how to get to a hook.
So my question is.. whats the point of the new "wiggle" feature? the old version was just as pointless.

Wiggling is not supposed to let you get free on a regular basis. Wiggling overall exists solely so that the Killer cannot bring you to any Hook they like. Otherwise you might end up in the Basement every game.
The new Wiggle is less spammy, which helps the durability of keyboards and controllers. It also grants more Bloodpoints in the Survival-Category.
Wiggling isn't supposed to get you out of the killer's grasp. At least not often. Wiggling is mainly there so the killer cannot bring you to the basement whenever the ######### they want.

A mod actually confirmed it does lower the wiggle timer by about a second, if you hit all the great skill checks. That plus the extra survival BP and interaction are reason enough.
If wiggling was even remotely reliable in getting the survivor to escape, it would be beyond busted. That is the entire reason hook-sabotaging and taking hits/bodyblocking exists. Also perks like Boil Over.
Wiggling is honestly so pointless when there's always 3 hooks within 8 meters.
Ah yes, maybe game should wiggle automatically for you instead of doing that on yourself, end result is same.
And faster wiggling speed it brought is certainly changing the game, in bad way.
