Do you think the game would benefit from having a clear indication of if you've won or lost?

Yes or no? Please elaborate.

  • It already does, and it needs to be changed.

The first impression the game gives to new players is through the tutorial: survivors win by escaping, killers win by killing everyone. Furthermore, the killer's Devout Emblem rewards Kill/DC/Sacrifice no matter the way you got it (camping, tunneling, 12 hooks). A killer that got 0 downs is almost as good as one that got 8 hooks and no kills and both are worse than a killer that camped 1 person to death and let the other 3 escape. Meanwhile, only the Unbroken emblem has one exemption criteria that reward escaping.

Change the focus of the game from kills to inflicting suffering through hooks. Change the tutorial from kills to hooks and modify the Devout Emblems to reward hooks and interchanging survivors and you have a much healthier game IMO. My suggestion:

    Devout Emblem

-Each hook state counts as 0,5 point.

-Hooking a different survivor from the previous one awards a bonus of 0,25 point. First hook also gets this bonus.

-Kill, and DC counts as applying the remaining hooks consecutively. Ex: a killer with H:DH mori a survivor that was never hooked. They will get 0,75 (first stage) + 0,5 (second stage) + 0,5 (third stage) as if they hooked them in succession.

-The last remaining point is awarded after reaching 9 hooks.

    Bloodpoints

Introduce a score event the counts the streak that starts on the first non-consecutive survivor hooks with increasing BP rewards for the killer and resets if the killer hooks the same survivor.

  • I think we need clearer indications of what is a win and a loss. If a survivor escaped at the end through the hatch but did absolutely nothing the whole match. To me that does not count as a win.

  • The clearest indicator would be kills to escapes with 2 Kills and 2 Escapes being a stalemate.

  • For the killer, it has a pretty good sense of whether you "won" or "lost" (Entity Displeased is a clear loss while others can either be seen as a win or a tie at worst).

For the survivor, there could be more done to differentiate a win vs a loss. Right now, there's either you died or you won. Whether you died a coward who did nothing to help your team because you were too busy peeing yourself hiding in the corner of the map while everyone was slaughtered or you died staying on the last gen even though the killer was on top of you for your last hook but you valiantly took the hit (and subsequent third Death Hook) to get that last gen popped and saved everyone in the process, in the eyes of the Match Over Screen, you both are losers who failed to survive.

I'm not sure it's THAT big of a deal as most people already have their own idea of what a win versus a loss is and the game telling them one way or the other wouldn't change their mind but it probably wouldn't hurt either.
