After Multiple Years, I'm Still Feeling Weird On The Jigsaw Box """""Aura""""" Thing...

...That Jigsaw Box Auras are not considered Auras.

Just saw a different discussion here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/204587/were-going-to-live-forever-and-cage-saves

Where it's made clear that Cages are not Hooks, and so Perks and other gear that works with Hooks will not work on Cages.

And that sounds logical to me, they're clearly different.

It also helped remind myself of the weird feeling.

Jigsaw Box """""Auras""""" are not considered to actually be Auras.

Okay, how different are they?

They're the exact same, except they're white Auras.

...Oh.

"So you're calling for them to be counted as Auras?"

No, this is just a sole exception that i'm pointing out that weirds me out since they want to keep their consistencies with how things should work.

Cages are not Hooks, Endurance trumps all 1-hit abilities, but this clearly-an-Aura isn't an Aura.

Anyway, that's just my thought on that.

  • How does an aura stop being an aura when white? It's just colouring.

Regressing gens with surveillance are white as well.

  • Fun Fact: Endurance caused by Borrowed Time and Soul Guard block all 1 hit abilities, Endurance caused by Mettle Of Man will not when you are healthy...Why is mettle different than the other girls?

  • Community: *pointing at Jigsaw Box* Is this a aura?

Dead by Daylight: Well yes, but actually no.

I think that's because borrowed the time and soul guard are designed to stop you from going down ( hence why they trigger deep wounds)

Whilst Mettle is designed to let you tank another hit whilst injured (hence why it just lets you take a hit without actually triggering deep wounds)

Essentially soul guard and borrowed time stop you from going down whilst Mettle ignores one damage proc whilst you're injured

So pretty much Mettle Of Man is easily countered by everything that does 2 damage states while you are healthy and exposure

I am so confused on why Mettle works like this still

  • I've felt the same way, but I also don't really know how to rectify this in a fair way.

As I said mettle is not technically designed to stop you from going down like borrow time or or soul guard.

It's designed to just let you tank a hit whilst injured.

Again I'm not a Game Dev so take this with a pinch of salt but they seem to do similar jobs but in different ways and it's those different ways that stops Mettle from protecting you against one shots when you're healthy

But Mettle of Man doesn't grant Endurance, right?

At least i don't think you get that Status Effect when you've gained all required charges.

It just makes you go into Deep Wound when hit, like Endurance does. (Except you need to be Injured too, which is like: Why?)

    So close to perfection...

If i had made this a Question instead of a Discussion, you'd have been my pick.

  • I initially had the same thoughts, but after playing against the Pig several times, I can assure you it's better that the white "auras" are not treated as such.

Being on Lady Luck's daily ######### list means you'll have to search every single box, which can often lead to you having only a few seconds remaining. If the Pig could delay this process by, say, inflicting Blindness, she would effectively have a power that can kill survivors with only a single chase.

You might be thinking that having white auras work like regular auras would push the survivors to just stop gen progression, the way they should. However, that would also give trolls too much power.

This is nothing about what's better for the game.

This is just to see an exception in their continuous attempts at consistency.

And the weirded-out part comes from how the exception isn't visually exceptional in any manner.

I've used the perk recently, Mettle Of Man does actually grant you the Endurance status effect.

    Oh okay, my mistake then.

But now that makes it even weirder to me: Mettle of Man is the only Endurance source that will only work for the Injured Health State.
