SC buff idea.
Just make it 28 seconds now, don't change the normal healing speed, but tweak SC's numbers to make it 28 seconds. If it's still bad, make it 26 seconds. Don't make it 24 seconds again, that made it too versatile, but give SC some reason to be used. Only flaw I can see with this buff is that SC would be quicker than healing each other without it, but idk, give it some reason to be used.

Naw self-care is in a good spot. Take botany knowledge if you really want it, but you might as well take a green medkit if you want a better self care.
Yea, botany knowledge with it makes it really strong. But individually it isn't that good anymore, I wanna see it used more often individually, you know?
It's more of a defense mechanism than a consistent healing mechanism.
Self care is for occasional use, for taking a hit for DoH survivors or incidental issues that don't end with you on the hook.
If you want to be able to heal yourself, consider a healthpack instead of the perk. 32 seconds isn't that long, and in another thread, a pig dev pointed out that it takes a 2nd survivor 16 seconds to heal you anyways. 16 seconds * 2 survivors = 32 seconds.
Self care is equally balanced with normal healing. It does not need a buff, otherwise normal healing would need a buff too.
Yeah I think SC is fine. It used to be too strong but now I feel it's fair. It's an infinite self heal but it takes a lot of time. IS is better IMO but you have to find a totem and there's only 5. Bond can help you find someone to heal you. Even Pharmacy can get you a medkit to heal yourself.
The issue is if you buff SC's numbers you risk making it really powerful again.
SC gives you an infinite amount of times you can heal yourself without needing anyone or anything to limit that amount, that's a pretty powerful effect for just using a single perk so it's balanced out by the drawback of being considerably slower than other methods.
Would I love for Self Care to get a numbers buff? absolutely.
But it'd need some adjustment to make sure it's not TOO powerful (like a cooldown or a limit to how many times you can fully heal yourself with it).
True. SC is a difficult to balance perk I guess. Perhaps it's better off being niche as it is now, and being strong when accompanied by perks like Botany Knowledge.
Well that doesn't mean you can't suggest buffing/changing a perk to make it more viable or fun, more so you have to consider if buffing one aspect of a perk would make it too strong or oppressive then what possible drawback could you give it to make sure that doesn't happen.
Let's say you buff the SC healing speed from 50% to 75% (32 seconds to 24 seconds), now to make sure it doesn't become too strong from being faster you make it so SC has a limit of 1/2/3 tokens and it loses one every time you fully heal yourself while using SC.
And if the drawback is too strong or too weak you can always adjust it or change it entirely if restricting it that way just doesn't work.
Don't give sc tokens
This is why SC should be 36sec. Because it should cost the same time for 2 Survivors on heal action for 18sec. And not counting finding another Survivor to heal you.
So you want to nerf Self care?
@poweas no, its in good spot. Dont have to find another survivor, and move carefully because being injured is already a reward
And that's good. Perk combos is what should make perks stronk (see Q&Q+Head On, Spirit Fury+Enduring as examples)
Are there exceptions to that? Like exhaustion perks and BBQ?
Exhaustion perks are inherently self-limiting through the status they inflict (Exhaustion). They are intended to be usable roughly once in a chase and otherwise require an extensive cooldown (or failure in the form of being hooked) in order to be used again. Many of these can be run in tandem with other perks to be better though (Lithe + Q&Q and/or Dance with Me, Dead Hard + Resiliance + Spine Chill, or Sprint Burst + Urban Evasion/Fixated, as examples). That does mean potentially sacrificing more perk slots to bolster your limited-use perk, however.
BBQ & Chili is only briefly active after killer hooks a survivor, meaning it can only be used up to 11 times maximum in a trial. There are a LOT of counterplay options to BBQ anyway. It's in a balanced state and mainly popular because of its BP bonus. It doesn't really specifically combo with other perks so much as it combos with killer powers (provided they have the mobility or range to immediately act upon its aura reading).
The only big BIG exceptions that come to mind are DS and Unbreakable. They are both great perks individually, but can unleash some ridiculous levels of self-recovery when thrown together (hence why most survivors do just that). Most other incredibly powerful perks are balanced by being very situational (like Adrenaline and Devour Hope).
Anyway, I'm with the people that say Self Care is balanced as it is now. It is a self-sufficiency perk that is helpful when playing solo survivor (like Deliverance). It gives the benefits of a med-kit while healing a bit slower and being unlimited in use. I don't think it needs an adjustment.
