The layers of Decisive Strike: The best perk in the game

First of all let me say that this thread is not trying to cry or complain. It’s just making my case as to why Dstrike is the best perk in the game and is in fact better than it used to be.

The first layer:

The most obvious benefit to the perk is that it stuns the killer and allows you to create enormous distance. If you have been unhooked lately, you can pretty much do whatever you want with impunity. You can slam a gen, body block for a teammate, and generally play pretty mindlessly because the killer is getting stunned if he or she attacks you. The killer can be trying to target other players and happen to bump into you or you can try to get his attention. Either way, the perk most definitely can be used aggressively (so not anti tunneling).

The second layer:

If a killer downs you and thinks you might have dstrike (more on this later), then the perk still completely derails the killer’s game. It doesn’t take very long for a survivor to recover, so this myth that a survivor needs to waste a ton of time getting off a gen doesn’t make a difference. They simply need to tap the downed person and the match is reset. This effect is even more intensified if the survivor has unbreakable.

Dstrike lasts for 60 seconds; it takes 80 seconds for a single survivor to do a gen (without toolboxes). Slugging a downed survivor pretty much concedes a gen and possibly multiple gens if more than one survivor is doing them. Even if you don’t take the dstrike, it works.

The third layer:

This aspect is perhaps the most overlooked: you can’t tell who has dstrike, which effectively means that everyone has it. One person bringing it gives every other survivor a free perk slot, so its effects are multiplied.

There is essentially no effective counterplay to this perk. I would argue that it was easier to counter before it was changed, both because you knew who had it and could juggle that person to the hook, not to mention the fact that enduring no longer helps against it. Now the killer is in trouble no matter what. In other words: this perk was buffed and is now the best perk in the game.

  • Meh.

If I get hit by dstrike I don't really care. And if I think some one has it I go after someone else. But it's not like I need to go searching for to long since there is usually the unhooker nearby.

I don't find it to be that good honestly, I just think people over think dstrike and just really hate being stunned.

  • Better than wasting time chasing them just to get DS and start the process over all the while three gens pop. ######### old DS.

You could counter that by juggling to a hook.

  • Juggling was the biggest time waster and typically backfired on you later in the match. Not to mention someone running out of nowhere to bodyblock the moment you got to the hook.

  • You don't even need to be running decisive to get some of its benefits. Killers are far less likely to rehook you if there's an obsession. As far as the killer knows, all 4 people have ds. It's a crazy strong perk both psychologically and directly. That's why I love make your choice. Gives me a perfect little hourglass measuring how long the DS will last.
