So Spirit is getting nerfed

Because she is “over performing”

and unfun to play against? (I understand prayer beads, nerf that)

But constantly going against swf squads on voice coms with op perks (When they all run adrenaline for example) it is fun for killers right :) I mean we are going by the fun factor here right.. Gen rushing and playing by survivors rule book is fun too right. There are many things that BHVR need to address and help before even considering making nerfs. Poor ruin can’t last more than 30 seconds..

Yes, just ruin another killer because survivors aren’t happy or having a difficult time with her. I play against many spirits. Sometimes I win sometimes I don’t..

so if the solution is “nerf a killer due to them over performing”

then nobody will want to be a killer.

I thought killers are supposed to be feared and not killers fearing survivors.

idk just my two cents @Peanits just because stats show she has a high success rate, doesn’t justify nerfing.

i will patiently wait for that one person who is going to say there is no counterplay blah blah...

And Ghostfsce you are next on the nerf train CHOO CHOO.

Good day y’all.

Guessing isn’t luck. Predict what the Spirit is going to do and outplay her.

And how do you predict somebody who you've had exactly 0 seconds of interactions with at the start of a game?

The same way she predicts a survivor that she has never faced before. Feel it out, get a sense for how they play.

...you know The Spirit can hear the survivors pain sounds, their breathing sounds, their footsteps, see their scratch marks, see the grass they move, literally collide with them, etc. right? There's no prediction for the Spirit at that point.

Also what does "Feel it out" mean? If I start phase walking and hit you in 5 seconds, what the hell did you feel out? "Oh she went invisible and hit me, I will now base my predictions on this."

    Like come on man.

It goes both ways. She can’t possibly know if you are going to window vault, when you are going to throw down pallets or how you mix up your scratch marks/walking. If you are in the open then yes you will probably be hit, but that is true for every killer.

Vaulting makes sound. She can gauge distance between you and a nearby pallet and determine if she has enough time to beat you to the pallet. If she doesn't, she simply ends her power early, significantly shortening the cool down. Then the survivor throws the pallet down, at which point the Spirit just breaks it and then uses her power again in 5 seconds to catch the survivor in the open.

Okay so then she ends her phase early and is then a 110 killer until the power comes back, which varies with addons. You can then create distance and go to another loop. In this scenario, Spirit’s chase time is already approaching that of a standard m1 killer.

  • IMHO any discussions about Spirit at this point is moot. The devs already stated that she is "over performing" according to their metrics and that she is going to be changed. It doesn't matter if we can prove she is or is not unbalanced, she is getting changed regardless. In fact, I will bet that even if no one ever said anything she would get changed because the devs would still see the stats suggest she needs to be changed. The only difference is the speed at which they push out said changes, which they will probably prioritize higher since so many people complain about her.

I haven't been able to confirm but a friend of mine said they mentioned "serious changes" coming to her on Twitter or something. Not sure how true this wording is, but if true I'm disappointed it has come to this.

The devs need to be more transparent about this. How much is she over performing? Can we see this data too? What potential issues have been identified and what are the goals of said changes? This is the stuff I'd like to know, I'm kind of getting sick of this deal where they completely change a character without telling us anything until the work is done and there is basically no going back and we have no say in the matter. I get the devs generally know better than us when it comes to the health of the game, but you seriously have to be more open about these issues, especially ones as sensitive as Spirit. It makes me want to just give up on the game and move on.

Throw us a bone please devs.

You're not getting the example. She ends her phase early right at the pallet. The survivor is at the other side of the pallet. The Survivor either drops the pallet or gets hit. Either way, after breaking the pallet you probably have another 3-4 seconds before your power is back because you stopped it way earlier than the full power. Its pretty unlikely the Survivor is going to beat you to yet another pallet in that short time, and if they do, its the same exact scenario repeated, except you're blowing through all the pallets in the map in seconds, completely ruining your team's chances.

I understood. If she has to break the pallet then that’s a ton of distance, especially against a 110 killer. At that point, depending on the map, you could even break LOS and mix her up with your scratchmarks. Or you could just go to another loop spot. Either way, you can effectively waste her time. She does get rid of pallets faster than other killers but a good team will still get the gens done.

So, you're saying there's a issue with the schoolgirl outfit then?

Also, thanks for admitting you want to "reliably" counterplay a Killer over and over. You're exactly the type of person I was complaining about earlier: A biased Survivor who doesn't want to think or try to get into the Killer's head. You want safe, consistent methods of beating Killers that CAN trip you up.

Willing to bet you won't think "no counterplay" when it comes to genrush too and elite Survivor teams.

Morons like you don't understand how big of a deal "blue scratch marks" would be. Because you can't see the bigger picture.

"Ohhhh, Spirit is phasing! And she's phasing THAT way! Well, I just have to do this simple thing and then she can't do anything to me! Dur hur, I'm so good! gg ez baby Killer!"

Where is the "counterplay" to getting your movements constantly read at loops, hmmm? What will the counterplay be to Survivors being able to constantly tell where you are? How will you be able to mindgame them? What is the safe and consistent counterplay to genrush too?

The answer: There is none. Which is your goal: EZ wins for you, a Survivor main.

Scott prefers killer and is a well known "huntress legend"... I dont agree with his views for spirit but hes far from being survivor main.

You don't get a "ton of distance" as by the time the pallet is broken she's almost back in her power, which is nearly twice as fast as a Survivor running (who is now leaving scratches).

Pallets take 2.7 seconds to break, which is 10.8 meters of gained distance for the Survivor. The Spirit moves over 7 meters a second in her power. She's catching up in literally 3-4 seconds, and that's without addons.

  • The devs need to listen to people like you, not whiny baby survivors/killers and thinking a killer is op just because they do well, listen, spirit is the only viable killer since she has chase potential with no limit besides cooldown unlike hillbiully, im quitting if they nerf her.

Calling it as I see it mate. People like you and me plus many others share the same viewpoint on matters like this. It’s unfortunate that the devs make some questionable decisions on how to “balance” something. For example, (makes me cringe to even bring this up) when MoM got released. You know even before that got released, when it was leaked. Many people from the community told them it wasn’t a good idea and that it would be stupid broken. What happened? They released it anyway...

people have scratched and clawed to get the DS changes that took way longer than it needed to be.

but after that DS change. They originally had it to 3 seconds and they thought it was fair which it was. Then they changed it to 5 seconds due to enduring being a slight counter (Fair change)

then after, they just removed enduring no longer countering it and leaving it to 5 seconds.

the reason being for all those changes is simply the fact that survivors weren’t happy..

See the trend/pattern here..again my two cents.

Iron Will counters every Killer. Most high rank Killers use headphones and listen for your pained cries if they lose you. Iron Will also counters Nurse as well. Quick and Quiet is also good VS a phasing Spirit as well. Lets you confuse Spirits very easily and quickly and win chases.

Even great Spirits also suffer from their biggest weakness: Collision. They are not Nurse, they cannot go through things. Vaults, pallets, objects... they must respect these. Great Spirits cannot truly ignore loops, they have to path to the Survivor and then hit them.

When a Survivor is at a loop, they can position themselves at weird and unpredictable spots to make it impossible to even run into them. Like just outside a loop, etc...

Being injured does not mean you will get hit by phase too. Great Spirits must respect vaults and pallets. Sometimes vaulting something multiple times can confuse a Spirit. Same for pausing before making another vault. You just have to get into the Spirit's mind. Many Spirits suffer from predictable attempts at reads and can be read accordingly.

But no, you'd rather just throw your hands in the air and beg for nerfs that would, without fail, make Spirit Legion tier. Blue scratch marks? Yeah, no, you just want safe, consistent methods of dealing with a Killer so you can easily loop them for 5 gens and then teabag at the gates and think you're good. That's the goal, that's ALWAYS the goal.

"Spirit's phasing? Well, I'll just do this one simple thing and I can't get hit! Duh huh, I'm so smart, doing this one braindead thing over and over that, unironically, can't be mindgamed by the Spirit!"

I've listened to the complaints. All of them are stupid and boil down to "We don't want to think! We want things to be easy!". You're entitled.

You're also against running Iron Will because you want to run meta perks. And ONLY meta perks. You want to have Adrenaline every game, you want to bring Dead Hard every game, etc... you don't want to switch perks.

    It's that simple.

    Good points!

You are completely and totally dishonest. NOW you're being the "reasonable" one after being a douche in other replies. And now you're adding all of these reasonable things you should have said earlier to make a word wall that is painful to read.

I'm just gonna skip half of your BS and aim for the big bits.

"I said decisions should be made off of her data. How and why are you assuming that survivor and killer rank has nothing to do with that? Spirit's pick rate should 100% be considered along with the rest of the data. You just assumed all of this information in an attempt to devalue my statement."

WIN-RATE data, moron. Not "data". Survivor and killer rank have nothing to do with win-rate data specifically, don't pull this BS with me.

And you didn't clarify as such, resulting in this. Your statement does not have to be devalued, it does that all on it's own. lmao

"just because Spirit's issues stem from lack of counterplay existing."

This is wrong. I've mentioned multiple weaknesses in this topic. You laughed at them, so I won't bother linking them.

"Not sure what you are trying to say in the next paragraph, if you want to try to reword that."

Before I respond to this... explain what the hell you're addressing. Instead of numbering your statements, quote what you're responding to. It's easier that way.

" I absolutely do not believe that all killers should have the exact same weaknesses. I do believe that all of their weaknesses should be similar in the amount of effort it takes to counter/capitalize on the weaknesses."

    So, nothing different, then?

The "amount of effort" required to counter most Killer's powers is low to very low, especially once you know what you're doing. Your goal is to make Spirit low mid-tier to low tier if you want to make the "amount of effort" the same.

"And currently, it is extremely more difficult to counter Spirit than the majority of other killers."

Because you refuse to run Iron Will or use your brain when dealing with Spirit. Or actually ask around for advice. But something tells me that, even if red rank Survivors and Spirit mains spelt out how to beat her, you'd just throw their advice out the window and go "Nope, Spirit is just OP".

Someone else said something useful: Do things that counter multiple options that Spirit has instead of narrowing yourself to a two choice mindset. Maybe you should follow that example.

    "because its asymmetrical."

So, you're pretending genrush doesn't exist then? Because in order you to water down why the Survivors are the power role into "JUST ASYMMETRICAL", you have to deny why people actually don't play Killer and say the role is "just more stressful" without acknowledging why that's truly the case.

"and it you don't want to play intensely, either play survivor, or play a different game"

Thanks for confirming your opinion should be discarded. Because you just revealed that you don't give a ######### about Killers.

"Your role is hard to play?! -pops a gen- Whatever! The role is just stressful! -pops another gen- There's no issues with it whatsoever! -pops a gen- If you don't want to get genrushed and teabagged because you didn't play Spirit outplayed, you should join the Survivors and their long queue times because they refuse to make the game fun for Killers -pops another gen- or just go play Civ! -pops two gens, gates are open, all Survivors escape-"

You're the reason Survivor times are so long. Because Killer stress is because it's "just assymetrical" and they should basically just give up if they don't like the role. They either join Survivors because of uncompromising trash like you, @Venom368 , or they leave the game and the game dies some more. As you suggested.

    ######### off, @Venom368

    Skipping 5 and 6.

"I think you are wrong in your last statement. That's the bully and winner mentality. Both sides should be having fun, thats where the balance comes in. If neither side is having fun, why would anybody play the game at all? Either change something up or play a different game if you aren't having fun. If you are playing tryhard prayer beads Spirit with the mentality of 'survivors need to be punished', i mean... that fits in with the lore of the game and all... but thats the wrong mentality to play games with in general. I just want everbody to have fun and feel like things are fair on both sides. (The latter being much more difficult to achieve than the prior)"

I've already seen why you're a dumbass, Venom, so I don't give a damn if you think I'm wrong.

I also don't know what the ######### you're talking about by "bully and winner" but just know that Survivors are both bullies and winners because of how unironically unbalanced (in ways you don't care about) this game is that Spirit is required to deal with Survivors strategies that HAVE NO COUNTERPLAY.

Fun does not equate to balance. Making the Killer DC is fun. Looping the Killer with them being unable to counterplay for 5 gens is fun. Teabagging at the exit gate is fun. Making the Killer depip is fun. Harassing the Killer all game is fun. It definitely doesn't mean balance.

Your definition is balance cannot be trusted to begin with too, as you definitely don't think Killers don't have these major issues. AND IF YOU DO, YOU DIDN'T SAY SO.

We are also already seeing why people don't play Killer, because it's not fun, but you don't care. Only one side matters to you. And if Killers matter to you, it's a lie.

You also definitely don't believe in things being fair on both sides, don't try and be a innocent angel now. If you did, you'd acknowledge the major issues Killers face and wouldn't have started a fight over something you disagreed with. AND THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO COUNTERPLAY TO WHAT ELITE SURVIVORS DO.

KILLERS DO NOT FIND IT FUN TO BE SWEATY THE WHOLE GAME OVER BASIC BUT OVERPOWERED SURVIVOR TACTICS 24/7. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

Tone down the insults and the condescending attitude if you actually want to be taken seriously dude.
