Bit of a ranty post here, tl;dr at the end.

Solo survivor is so unfun. I try and try to keep a positive attitude about playing Survivor but honest to God I cannot anymore. It's genuinely saddening whenever I have to wait 30 minutes to find a game only for it to be against a killer like an Ebony Mori Freddy or an Infinite Tier III Michael that just got bullied by a SWF and decided to take their anger out on a bunch of rando solo survivors.

It doesn't even have to be the killers that ruin it for me, it can be my absolutely boosted teammates that get a life-threatening allergic reaction whenever they walk within a 50 meter range of a generator. And it can even be the game itself and it's god awful matchmaking, I mean, are you kidding me. Look at this.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/926/E9ZRBR0E3TC7.jpg

What is this. (And before you ask, my points were so low because my first chase lasted more than 20 picoseconds , therefore allowing the killer to officially dub me as toxic and be legally obligated to facecamp me.)

tl;dr I just really want to have a good time but it's impossible with the terrible combination of Killers with anger issues, boosted teammates, literally broken matchmaking, and 30 minute wait times.

Sigh, guess I'll go play some killer then...

...wait, why did four Claudettes show up at the same time, why do three of them have toolboxes, why does it look like one of them is carrying a key?

I feel you. Sometimes feels like whenever I'm survivor I only get the potato teams, but then when I play killer it's nothing but SWF Death Squads. The real problem right now though is those horrid queue times. If finding the match takes longer than the game itself, something is very very wrong. And it is.

She was by far the strongest Killer for 3 years. Logical that she will get a Nerf someday, and honestly, for overall game balance something like Nurse needed to be nerfed. You cannot balance the game and keep Nurse as it is.

I also highly doubt that you have been a "SS Nurse". People who were really good at Nurse (aka using her without Add Ons for example, not those people who bypass her Skill Level by putting on Extra Blinks or Range Add Ons) still do really good with Nurse and she is still the best Killer, despite people claiming otherwise.

She is absolutely not the best killer anymore, and the Devs own statistics show as much. Regardless, they went too far with the nerfs. No killer should be knee-capped like that, gradual nerfs and changes should've been the route to go.

I was rank 13 earlier after reset and was going against full red rank 1s. I am a red rank 1 killer though a lot of the time.

Most people who are rank 13 should not I agree, but my point is that the inherent system is flawed too, so even if they did fix that one issue, it would still be broken just a little less so.

I 100% agree that the rank system is broken right now. Again, this is on the devs to fix all of this, it's not really the players fault for just playing a broken game.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

don't worry, they are going to fix it soon by taking away your ability to see ranks, and then saying it's totally fixed you just can't see it and we can't tell you how it's been fixed.

In all seriousness though, ranks mean nothing. That green rank could have like 5000 hours and just not have played much since rank reset, and be one of the best killers in the world. You can have red ranks with no experience at all that cost you a game. I am red rank survivor and I still get people with thousands more hours experience that cause massively unbalanced games where one side stands no chance from the start.

You can have a game where everyone is red ranks and still everyone is dead with one gen done because the gap of skill is so great due to the low ceiling limit.

So these screenshots don't even begin to scrape the surface of the problems.

Yes and no. Rank 13s should never be going against a team of full Rank 1s. Seeing as how the devs broke the ranking system, it's on them to make ranks more accurately reflect ability, not for the Killers to deal with it. There is no ELO system in this game, only rank numbers. As long as that's true, they have to balance matchmaking keeping that in mind.

  • @AvisDeene said:

Get used to it. Killers are a dying breed and the Survivors need to be provided with a victim to bully so the match making will pair up anyone who is available.

I recommend you dodge all lobbies that have even 1 item, bright multicolored clothes, bright hair or quads of the same character, especially blendettes. Don't play weak killers and stick to Spirit or Billy. Play Hag or Bubba for camping potential.

Make the game fun for you, forget about following survivor rules - play how you want, not how they want.

I signed in just so I could upvote this. To all my Killer mains out there, do what makes YOU happy. Make the survivors SUFFER if that's what you want! Personally, I don't need NOED to do well or even 4k sometimes, but I take it anyways just to punish the gen rushers and maybe teach them a lesson.

I know it would be OP, as I said in my post. Even for a day.

The problem is it shouldn't cause an uproar 1 its for one day and 2 its to pay respect. Which I am honestly not even a basketball fan and think it would be cool, because who here used Kobe in a bad way, it was just a fun meme.

I mean if DBD posted a new update that said "Today all Kobe attempts will be increased to 8% for the next 24 hours" As long as I knew there was an increase I would just chuckle every time someone did it, I would probably be less likely to give a kobe hatch for the day though. lol

As a Killer main, I'd be totally okay with this to pay tribute.

There can't be trust issues to begin with if there weren't any interactions beforehand to build up said trust.

The real question to ask is what the hell does OP stand to gain by tricking you? Being incorrectly informed of the challenges, if that were the case, doesn't really affect you.

Rank 1 killer and Rank 2 survivor, Xbox, Trapper and GF mains, Bill, Dwelf and Kate mains

The childish behaviour against each other is ruinning the game...

I played like 8 games as solo survivor last game, EVERY survivor with a toolbox including me, I take it off, I NEVER got tunneled and got post messages saying "thank you, you're a good person" in 4 out of the 8 games.

BOTH ROLES NEED TO HELP EACH OTHER, it's not the survivor's nor the killers fault, don't act as if it were:

    1. I politely ask you, survivors, not to bring in more than 2 toolboxes per lobby as a help for killers not to use childish behaviours like lobby dodging, tunneling or face camping as a complain against Ruin nerf.
    2. I politely ask you, killers, not to lobby dodge, tunnel or face camp cause and using the argument of Ruin nerf (this doesn't apply for toxic players who teabag) if you don't see more than 2 toolboxes in lobby.

We NEED the attention in the actual problems:

    1. Matchmaking
    2. Pipping sistem
    3. Maps
    4. Emblems sistem
    5. Clown, Legion and Bubba need a buff

Fighting each other doesn't fix anything, it just drives the gamers off the game... If you actually enjoy this game, we need to join forces, I'm rooting for both sides, where are you?

As a general rule, if you get facecamped you probably deserved it. It's a horrible strategy otherwise, just punish the killer by genrushing if they do.

So is the Doctor supposed to just not go to the scream near his totem?

You can wait for a SAFE play to get the totem. Ya know, when Doctor is not there? There are a few other possible plays, but if you can't even avoid a killer I'd suggest sticking to the first one.

Fun fact. The shock blast is an AoE. He could literally be chasing someone else and just pop it just because and it could hit you.

It takes 10 seconds to cleanse, the Static Blast is a minute cooldown. I don't see the problem here lmao.

  • @AsePlayer said:

I mean it is a little annoying when you can never destroy his hex if he keeps shock blasting lol

Dont destroy it in front of him?

  • @Sleephartha said:

It’s WAY too easy to find survivors with that. Probably the single best survivor locator in the game. I realize you still have to chase and catch but this solves half the equation with no effort. You can locate survivors once a minute. You can sort of counter by timing hiding in closets but it happens way too often. Only other real counter imo is gen rush, which sucks for solos. Whatever. I just think it really destroys any chance of stealth play. If you aren’t a good runner, you’re now fd.

    You're kidding, right?

  • @AntiJelly said:

I can't speak for anyone else, but the Ruin change isn't what had me mad. For all I care, they could delete Ruin; I've never used it.

The problem is that for many updates in a row, not a single core-game issue has been addressed, and more issues have been introduced.

Dedicated servers have been delayed for nearly half a year. Completely unbalanced, massive maps remain unchanged; so many of them have linkable loops that last forever. Every single update bugs the sound and multiple Killer powers. Keys, Moris, and Toolboxes still exist.

It just gets tiring after being around for so long and seeing no core issues fixed.

Dedicated servers have been delayed for years at this point.

  • On a serious note, many of the survivor items (but not all) could be added to the game. They'd make things more interesting, especially challenge items.

I think killer items just don't work for a few different reasons, but new offerings would be really cool.

  • @BabyOniMain said:

I am seeing survivors with scraps as their perk load out(Not even maxed and perks you could tell they picked because that's what they could get and hadn't unlocked any perks) and have seen survivors who doesn't know borrowed time exist in Red ranks.

What the hell is happening even man. A few months ago I was arguing that Killer has the higher skill ceiling but apparently that's survivor now. Holy

"Nerfing something that's OP makes it weak? #########, are you even reading what you type?"

    That isn't what was said.

You said they were not OP anymore, so we are not talking about nerfing something that is OP.

"Also, this is not a substantial buff at all. You can still just as easily turn left or right and get the same effect."

You can still be blinded from the side so you'd have to "almost" walk backwards. I think that is substantial.

"If you disagree, you could just say that instead of blowing things way out of proportion."

I don't believe I've blown anything out of proportion. This has been a pretty calm and normal conversation.

"As for pallets, you're blinded for part of the destroying animation where you weren't attacking anyways."

Not entirely. You have enough vision to see there feet and know what direction they are going.

"they just dont gain the distance that sprinting away would've had."

"but they gain points and some confusion to possibly mindgame the killer"

So we agree that blinding at a pallet is not a waste. They gain points and if done correctly confuse the killer about where they went which can potentially be worth more than the sprint distance.

You're making it seem like a small nerf to looking up would substantially change the balance of the game, but it really wouldn't change a whole lot. Also, I'm not even saying to make it as immediate blinding head on, just gradually. You are definitely exaggerating the moonwalking though.

As for the pallets again, feet are one visual cue, sound is another. Just being blinded doesnt take the killer out of commission completely. As for blinding at pallet, I'm saying it is an option but not necessarily a good one unless you are against a killer that's bad at tracking. Sprinting away is a guaranteed gain for that situation.

  • @Spooky13 said:

Ok, so in sake of "realism", Demogorgon just should be immune to flashlights, Myers, Ghostface, Trapper, Nurse, Oni, and Leatherface should all have a reduced effect from flashlights because of their masks, and Doctor should just be instablinded constantly because of his headgear. You have to take gameplay and balance over realism sometimes.

Sure, I get it, realism was a poor word choice. But explain this, why is looking left or right not a better alternative? Looking up is silly.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1014605#Comment_1014605

"At no point was it said that flashlights are weak"

"Flashlights have been nerfed many times from their once OP instablind mode."

You are asking for something that would be a substantial buff to flashlights. If you thought flashlights were still strong you wouldn't be asking for a strong buff to them. The change you want is much more than a quality of life change.

Pallet break already has a cost of time to break, why does it now also deserve losing vision for a few seconds as well? Do you currently think pallet breaking is too strong? If blinding at the pallet was a complete waste of time survivors wouldn't do it, but they do and for a reason. They gain more out of it than the cost of the time it takes them, so to say they are wasting time in exchange for that blind I think is a bit of stretch.

Nerfing something that's OP makes it weak? #########, are you even reading what you type?

Also, this is not a substantial buff at all. You can still just as easily turn left or right and get the same effect. If you disagree, you could just say that instead of blowing things way out of proportion. It is a buff for consistency that in effect doesnt change much, because you can still look the other directions.

As for pallets, you're blinded for part of the destroying animation where you weren't attacking anyways. Survivors have less time to escape, but they gain points and some confusion to possibly mindgame the killer; that's the tradeoff. They don't gain nothing, they just dont gain the distance that sprinting away would've had.

    Is this a joke?

If you try and blind me and i look at the sky you will noy blind me. It's simple. People complain about literally everything in this game. Holy crap

Also, you're not a killer main. Just saying that doesn't make anyone believe it. No killer would be arguing for having to look left or right to avoid a flashlight.

You're basically upset that i can look up, continue forward and hit you.

What you want is either the blind or i have to turn in almost the total opposite direction. A complete joke of an idea

Not a joke. It's simple. the light hits your face, you aren't craned at a 90° angle, bud. If you were a decent killer, you'd know you only have to turn slightly right or left to avoid a light altogether.

I most certainly am a Killer main. If you can't handle simple disagreements and cognitive dissonance, I guess that's a you problem.

  • @HellDescent said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1014578#Comment_1014578

Just like in the game. Even if you look at your feet while standing next to the survivor who is trying to blind you, you will get blinded. It's the angle. You will get slightly blinded if survivor pointing flashlight beam at your face, but not looking directly at it. Quick question. How long have you been playing the game?

True, but the upwards angle won't ever reach a full blind. I'm saying that it should eventually blind, even at a slowed rate.

I've played since the June launch, 800 hours.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1014570#Comment_1014570

It's productive because it points out that the "cheesyness" comes on both sides in regards to flashlights. I point this out because your original posts wording implies that flashlights are weak and need the changes you point out. Me pointing out both sides of it is me saying that they are not as weak as your original stance says.

And I quote, "Flashlights have been nerfed many times from their once OP instablind mode. That's all fine and dandy, they're okay where it's at." At no point was it said that flashlights are weak. You're reading things into my post. I'm specifically critiquing a specific mechanic of flashlights, which has been around for a while, and that never made sense to me.

As for the pallets, you potentially sacrifice vision for a few seconds to ensure a pallet is destroyed, and the survivor just wasted time flashing you when they could've been running.

  • @HellDescent said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1014547#Comment_1014547

Have you ever looked at something bright on the horizon?

Yes, and it's still blinding, just not as much. I'm not saying to remove any effects of looking up, just make it a gradual blind.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1014543#Comment_1014543

I'm not sure how you connect what I said with implying blinds should never work. That is quite a stretch and clearly not being implied at all.

Also, saying it's my choice to break a pallet is a little misleading seeing as there are many pallet tiles that must be broken as they are completely safe if not.

Because your response to my critique of one specific flashlight mechanic was to bring up animations. Animations are part of the game, how is that a productive conversation?

  • @HellDescent said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1014501#Comment_1014501

you don't have an angle to shine it into their eyes anymore if they tilt their head up or down in order to blind them

The beam is still hitting their face and eyes, just indirectly. The only time you dont have an angle is when the beam isn't hitting their face/eyes

  • @Blueberry said:

Almost as cheesy as getting blinded at a pallet because you are unable to move your camera at all during break animation?

Hardly, you choose to break a pallet as a killer. Are you implying flashlight blinds should never work?

  • @HulkHodn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1014481#Comment_1014481

So survivors bodyblocking, jumping from heights and stunning a killer with a wooden pallet is realistic?

Way to stay on topic. I'm talking about one game mechanic, beam to face.

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1014501#Comment_1014501

Makes as much sense in that the sun outside only blinds you when you stare directly into it, rather than if it shines on your face normally with you looking strait ahead. If the sun doesnt have the ability to blind people indirectly, neither should a flashlight.

Except that it can blind you by looking indirectly, just not as immediately. Looking up could make it take longer to be blinded, but not outright prevent a blind.

  • @shadowman0105 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1014484#Comment_1014484

then how do you use the flashlight because so far it sounds like you want to flash the killer anytime you want.

Perhaps you should read. If the beam of light is hitting the killer's face, looking up while it's doing so shouldn't make it impossible to blind them. Looking side to side, where the light is not on their face, should be the way to guarantee a dodge. It's really not that complicated.

  • @HellDescent said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1014481#Comment_1014481

Makes perfect sense - you're not looking directly at the source of the light, so you're not blinded by it.

The beam of light is still going in the face, in their eyes. Perhaps they get blinded slower for looking up, but becoming impossible to blind by tilting up makes little sense.

  • @shadowman0105 said:

Let me guess you missed a flashlight save.

start the blind when the survivor is on the killers neck to shoulder to get the save.

if you try to flash him when he is moving there’s not point in trying save your charges for next time.

It's not about saves, it's at any point when you're pointing a flashlight at a killer. This just doesnt make sense when a light is still being flashed right at your face.

  • @HellDescent said:

down/up, left/right what's the difference? And how do you suggest "dodging" flashlight should be removed?

The difference is it makes no sense if someone is shining a light directly at your face, but just because you're tilting up you suddenly aren't affected. It adds realism to actually have to turn away.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Flashlights are fine rn. The killer shouldn't be blinded when the beam hits their chin.

It's a cheese mechanic that doesnt make sense though; they're still being hit by the light. Why not just look to the left or right?

  • As a killer main, I think most of those would be terrible changes, except for the t-bagging, bringing back old Nurse, and changing some of the huge maps.

  • As a killer main but someone who plays both side, Old Freddy was somewhat fun for awhile. But, it goes without saying that New Freddy is way better, much more enjoyable for the majority of both sides, and keeps the cool theme. Things change, complaining for a refund is so lame.

  • Suddenly? Lmao where have you been these past few months?

  • Nurse's nerf was extremely terrible. She literally went from the #1 or 2 spot to bottom tier in the rankings. It was not a justified change.

That said, both Freddy and Spirit needed the tweaks to their add-ons, because they were simply unfair. Spirit, like Nurse, only should've had their addons changed. Why go straight for the basekit when that's not the problem?
