tl;dr
'I can't bully the killer. BHVR please nerf.'

Yeah kinda long

Just play the other side? Or Google the lore, I'm sure it'll end up on the wiki.
Not really very helpful as some people like to unlock things themselves you know? Feel like they aren't forced to play a role they don't enjoy to 'achieve' what (imo) should be available to all regardless of preferred role.
Thanks for leaving a comment though!
Edit : Just to clarify. I'm talking about event lore and lore not directly tied to a character. Withering Blight piece being locked behind Claudette for example.

I am very anti Battle Passes and I was cautiously excited for the Lore.
But here they went and made the Lore hard AF to unlock, only so that people cannot Battle Pass currency too fast.
It's not 'hard' as such to unlock. It's just that it requires you (from what I'm seeing now at least) to play both survivor AND killer to get it all. I'm a killer main now, got bored of survivor real quick (no challenge at all) and will never likely play that role again. Also means I wont get alot of the lore. I made a post but no reply so I guess I'm either missing something (brain cells?) or everybody who mains a role is cool with this?
Edit : I completely understand if getting survivor lore (Claudette for example) requires playing her but to possibly have The Entity, The Hunger/Withering Blight and general game lore locked behind survivor challenges is a bit annoying and vice versa for survivors who don't want to play killer.
-
Absolutely. I can tell you (as a former survivor main for a straight year and a bit) it's EASY to play survivor. Sure, there's a few lessons to be learned but pfft, how hard is learning to run around in a circle, press a button, run to another area, run in a circle, press a button etc etc.
There's a reason the hate flows in as soon as a killer can stop their bs. You can't help but get a cocky attitude when you play survivor because you can almost feel the struggle of the killer and although you realise what you're doing takes little to no brain power it makes you feel quite good. (Some will try and tell you looping is skill...yeah no) Especially when playing with friends who are equally as knowledgeable (notice knowledgeable, not skilled) of map layout, loop spots, gyms etc because then the killer truly is a plaything and their presence is more of a nuisance than a threat.
I've been there, I've played with other 'high rank' survivors and I can tell you without a shadow of doubt 90% of the toxicity and sulking on the forums spawns from 'I just died and I can't believe how stupid I am for dying in a game that I could play with one hand, blindfolded, sipping a Mountain Dew and all at the same time I'm doing coursework for that project I should have handed in last week but I was too busy hitting up the forums with the 100th post about Spirit this week, boo hoo.'
Can't believe I used to be one. I have showered many times. They don't make water hot enough.

Everyone has a right to complain about the terrible balance. It's more the mindset of those complaining.
For example, if someone came to the forum and told an awful story about yet another camping killer, a Doctor say and how they got one over on them and 'punished them' by leaving their teammates on hooks to escape via the hatch. Classing that as a legit 'win' over the killer would seem ridiculous wouldn't it?
It's the mindset...

So you are saying Survivors don't have a right to complain about things. Fair enough.
Do note that Killers also do not have a right to complain about things. Please do not complain about keys, instaheals, Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Adrenaline, toolkits, palettes, windows, vaults, P3 Claudette, running the killer around, and doing gens.

No really bad. Skill checks are easy and 2x DS is basically snap out of it.
Trapper needs to just spawn with all his traps. No deep wounds, no RNG to escape.
Yes your heard me, NO RNG AT ALL!
At base, he should simply require ~10 seconds of m1 to pull yourself out of the trap. Traps now deal 1 health state of damage, so if you're injured and get trap, and ARENT helped by a teammate out of it, tough luck bud...trapper deserves you now.
I can imagine the uproar but I fully agree. Trappers traps should only be escapable by being helped by another survivor. Just that in itself would be a massive buff imo. I play Trapper alot, he's fun but my god it's frustrating having them snap and seeing the survivors escape a second later.
-
...this right here clearly displays the line between people who actively seek a balanced, fun experience for all and the others hoping for a quick pat on the head and possible circle jerk.
To be honest, all I gathered from whatever this post is supposed to be, is that you're a terrible teammate and just happy to have escaped for a change?
-
I couldn't really be bothered to write much so I have taken your comment and 'edited' it slightly.
Survivors with Flashlight/Toolbox, DS, Borrowed Time, Dead Hard, Lithe.
I just hate running loops and HAVING to break every pallet, so I usually try to find the weakest link first and just pray by the time I hook them, Ruin has lasted just long enough to prevent 3 gens popping in under 2-3 minutes (if I'm lucky). Fingers crossed they don't DC also, most likely causing another saftey pip at most after the impending shenanigans. Sorry, I play this game to have fun but I can't if my objective is damn near impossible and games are over faster than my first sexual encounter.
God forbid a killer should actually SLOW that nonsense down...

Why so? The forum is here to have an exchange of ideas, so please why would you ignore this post? Thanks for the answer
...because, to be honest with you, most of these types of posts struggle with being coherent. Let alone worthy of discussion.

HAHA! The amount of times I've been told I'm 'going on Youtube' is hilarious.
...and that's just this week....
-
Trapper, Freddy and Nurse mostly but I do rotate and play all killers. I only recently got into PC Dead by Daylight and I've never learnt how to play Nurse so learning her has been fun and satisfying when it works. I have always thought of Trapper as my favourite character. He's an OG and his look, sound and walk are honestly menacing. He's great fun but what I REALLY play Trapper for is the abuse I get in post game chat from [EXTREMELY BAD WORD, LIKE BORDERLINE BANNABLE] survivor mains who, getting a victory over one of the 'easiest to toy-with' killers, proceed to tell me just how much I suck and that killing myself is probably the best option given the situation. Nothing quite beats the feeling of having a group of 4, pre-pubescent ooze spewing, future school shooter bully victims, feeling a sense of accomplishment from beating an obviously mid/mid-low tier character and just HAVING to dribble about it after the match. I LIVE for that stuff. I also accept 'GG'...but that's not very fun I guess.
What a tangent!
-
Pc? Console?
Honestly, depending on area (am guessing this is happening right now?) it could just be low player count. I find (I'm UK) if I ever get time during the day to play, it's slow pickings. Waiting times are LONG during the day but evening, peak times here, it's almost instant as I search. Waiting longer probably means looking for a game elsewhere maybe?

At this point, I'm betting they're going to leave it unchanged from the PTB, either because they didn't have time to make the necessary changes or because they decided that the players who gave feedback were wrong in some way.
I think people are going to get upset over it for the same reasons as they did in the PTB, and it's either going to go unchanged still and eventually the community will lapse into angry silence over it, OR it will eventually be changed in response to feedback and then there will be a fresh wave of outrage from those who struggled through the Archives before changes were implemented, now demanding compensation.
Either way, there's going to be a lot of unhappy players. While I understand there may be good reasons for it, I can't help but think a lot of this storm of speculation and outrage could have been avoided with a bit more communication from the team.
Absolutely to the last point you made. I agree. The only other factor is that the evidence from streamers and youtubers regarding difficulty of completion AND the subsequent silence of devs renders any reply, almost void. It seems pretty clear cut when all the cards are on the table. I don't think a reply would have even helped. Unless it was 'hey guys...we f'd up. It's easier now, here's proof'.
-
Yeah, I already guessed they would make it harder to complete the rift fully when I heard about it.
I know people have mouths to feed and bills to pay so I don't mind 'supporting' games I enjoy by buying cosmetics or dlc's. That's a personal choice, each to their own but this, to me, is almost a shameless, obvious cash grabber. Especially since they have been so quiet about it after concerns were raised. No offence, the 'rewards' aren't worth it for me but maybe some rifts and items will be worth it so here's my plan...
I'm going to take the advice of many others and test the waters first. I'll see how far into the rift I can get on the free track this time around. I play most evenings (what I would call 'fairly' normal) so would imagine a fair amount. IMAGINE being the key word. I have a feeling if enough people also do this and it turns out the grind is, for most, unrealistic the devs may be forced to change the difficulty? Who knows.
-
Some games it seems like a powerhouse perk but most I often wonder why I run it. It's one if those things where if you don't bring it you feel like you're making the game 10 times harder but when you do it often goes within the first minute and most likely, before you've even hooked a survivor. Thing is (keep in mind I'm high rank but not an amazing killer by any stretch) I still find I'm able to pull off 3-4k's when it does go fast so to be honest, is it needed? I think two things come into play, one is, at the very least, keeps someone off a gen looking for it (hopefully you find someone else doing a gen to make it two) and survivor time wasting is a good tool for the killer but the other is you're completely at the mercy of the survivors general skill level. With Ruin still up I'll often get decimated because they're good at skill checks.
Tl;dr I still bring it in the hopes it stays up long enough for me to make use of it but often it's a placebo. Play as best you can and it's still possible to do 'well'.
-
Totally agree. It's becoming a joke. People think I make this up but I would say, currently, it's rare that 2 people AT LEAST don't dc from my games as killer. The saddest part in the whole matter is I'm not even that great as killer but I do what I can. Yeah I can get to rank 1 and no rank isn't an issue but I have been stuck at rank 8 because of this since reset. I'll get a rare game where they stay, grab a couple of pips and then it's downhill again. For me, as for you, it's CONSTANT and I'm tired of it.
Edit : I realise it seems like rank is becoming an issue for me, saying I'm 'stuck' at rank 8 but for those that do like to it must be even worse. I do find more toxicity at purple over reds though. Just me?
-
Levelled my Huntress from 11 to 38 (not a big fan of her) and found 14, yes 14 Iri heads and 4 belts. Also found many dc's shortly after so really they're just one bad meme and hold no use at all.
-
Tell all this to my Hillbilly. I can't win with him unless the survivors are braindead. I hear alot of complaining about him but I don't get it. The survivors I face at high rank seem to know how to counter me when I use him so maybe try improve your playstyle? No attack at you of course but if a killer is causing you trouble you may want to change up your playstyle or change habits if you can.
I could just be a bad killer but I mean, I don't struggle as much with say, Clown as I do Hillbilly...go figure.

People are reporting that on dedicated survivors are going faster then they should, making chases harder to win.
/thread
Can confirm. I even posted about something similar myself. Although for me, every now and again, it's my speed that seems affected. It feels like I'm walking through mud as killer. I mean, that could be the survivors going slightly faster I guess but it's so obvious when it happens and it's the whole game, not just a random thing for a few seconds. Never happened before the server switch-up and my games have been absolute hell for the most part. I'm sorry but when you're playing as Trapper and literally running in a straight line behind a survivor and not gaing ANY ground, something is up. This game and it's issues...damn.

As a survivor main, you should get over yourself. It really shouldn't be the killer's concern if me and my swf has fun, it should be on us to try and play against the killer to the best of our ability. Why you think it's a bad thing for the killer to want to kill survivors is beyond me, honestly
Nice to see some people have sense. Lol at this forum as a whole though. It's just a massive 'post game chat' with bitchy survivors and killers going at each other because they just had some bad games. I'd like to know the average ages here in the forum, or at least mental ages. Would be interesting data.

Ok cool! I may try and change it but mines always been at 50 and only just realised the change. I still don't get why 'controller' sensitivity would change billy's chainsaw but meh.

@S_Panda said:
For those who don't get what's going on: the survivor is stuck in perpetual speed burst meaning they always run at 150% while killers can only reach near that with play with your food & bloodlust at max...maybe noed speed boost to top it.
I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who's seeing thus stuff. In reply to your post though I get what you mean but it honestly feels more like I'M the one who's a bit slower. You get a feel for the enviroment around you and the way it just 'feels' as you move, you know!!
I'm still waiting for it to happen again and if anything I went back to being a speedy boy last night and was catching up to survivors easy. It seems to happen in waves. I honestly think now it's these servers. I know there's a bit of a divide between some having a great experience and others having a bad time but for me, they have been mostly negative and I think the fact there's such an obvious split in the community about them...that kind of goes to show just how unready they are.

Any chance you can get a video of this happening? You can upload to youtube and put the link here if you would like, so we can take a look at it.
For sure yeah, if/when it happens again I'll get it on shadowplay and link to onedrive or something. It's weird. It's like 3 quarter speed or something you know!

@Madjura said:
I don't really know what you mean, can you provide a video or gif of this "whipping" please?
Ok, so whipping, when you start the chainsaw sprint. The first half a second or so you can turn with massively increased sensitivity and hence it's known as 'whipping'.

@Mr_K said:
Assuming PC, look at your controller sensitivity. This setting controlls the beginning of the saw senitivity.
Is this for real? I mean, even if it was, I haven't changed a thing and instantly notice the difference recently...

@Mr_K said:
My guess is the servers.
Yesterday I was playing on Ormond and a Jane I was chasing suddenly went warp speed to the other side of the map. It wasn't her doing and we talked about it in after game chat.
Just to clarify, this doesn't prove your sanity.
Thanks for the reply! Yeah, they've been nothing but bs for me to be honest.
No, you're right...I'm still a nutter.

Yes. Massively so infact. See, at lower ranks (I'd even argue up to around rank 8ish) survivors with less experience don't usually have a 'game plan' or ever bothered to learn or understand loops and as such, as a killer are quite easy to catch up to and 'mindgame'. However, as stated above, due to the map design, game mechanics and enough experience of both, survivors can optimise EVERY single aspect of their game. Now, the problem isn't that killers also cannot optimise their game plan and play efficiently (and I feel this might be the point you're getting stuck on) but rather that there are more saftey nets for said survivors. Add co-ordinated swf group who can all loop with MAXIMUM efficiency, know all possible totem spawns, cooldown timers etc and I'm sorry but you're a plaything. Sure, there are great killers out there but more often than not, you're waiting for a mistake. Those mistakes happen less and less at high ranks and yes, the result is, in my opinion, MASSIVE unbalance.

@Mandy said:
People have a right to discuss the changes - that's what the forum is for, discussion. And yes some people are going to complain and take what frustration they feel out in a discussion.
Telling people to "shut up" about something is frankly quite rude and I would please remind you to adhere to our forum rules and leave people to discuss things that they choose to discuss, you do not have to take part in every discussion, just leave the thread if it's something that you do not wish to discuss.
Discussion? Lol. All I see on the forum are angry killers and angry survivors bickering over who's got it harder, all reeling after a rough game they just left pretty much dripping tears all over the device they are writing on. I have honestly never felt so much childish angst eminate from one place. Well, maybe that one time I visited my sick cousin in a childrens hospital but this is a game, it's pathetic.
No offence to anybody else (seemingly small minority) who comes here for some actual discussion. If you don't mind, I'll go now and get a few laughs out of the several new posts about deaths to a Spirit before they inevitably make her useless!
Edit : Go read the new post about 'dying to op chainsaw killers'. Has 900hours (supposedly) and hasn't worked out how to deal with a Billy or Leatherface yet. Case in point.
