  • I mean I'm definitely taking a break. I've played for years, I main killer, and I don't enjoy playing survivor. In the last few years killers have had our toys repeatedly taken away. We can't three gen like we used to, we can't hit off hook, can't grab a survivor trying to unhook in front of us, we can't kick generators too much, we can't be too close to folks on hooks, and half a dozen other adjustments. Many of our killers have been nerfed, some to being nearly unplayable, and if we want games that require less sweat we have to play an s tier killer like nurse, blight, or the ghoul. Even being that bhvr has even called killer players bad people.

Meanwhile Survivors have been given gifts constantly. What more pallets on maps, better perks, and huge amounts of information to each other that survivors never had.

Enjoy your longer waits. I have games that are fun where I don't feel unappreciated or disliked by the devs. I mean I'm loving Arc Raiders where I get queued with other chill players who aren't looking to be crazy competitive.

Fast completion speed has always been the reason that killers adapt "tunneling and slugging" into their gameplay

Gen speed is the default, "go to" complaint when no one has decided a specific perk, map, or item is the particular flavor of the month.

We know, for a fact, that gen speeds are just an excuse people use, because we have a full years with of live game data that says otherwise.

A year of gen kick, cobruption, Overbrine, and 3 genning allowed killers an entire year of gens taking as long as the killer chose, up to an hour.

We didn't see anyone saying "wow, gens are so slow. I don't have to tunnel anymore!".

What we did see, in huge numbers, was people saying "I have more time to tunnel, and can win games far easier now, so I'm going to tunnel more because I like winning".

Gen speeds are not the actual cause of tunneling in general, as a meta. Demonstrably, provably. With live game data. But that doesn't fit the narrative you want, so you can't admit that.

They've literally made it so we can't slow down gens like we used to. We've completely lost the ability to damage gens after enough damages now. I can't just hold the gift of a strong three gen usually given to me by the survivors.

Can you acknowledge that if I can only kick a generator so many times to prevent progress I have to resort to something else to show down progress?

Slugging works well because it usually takes two people to solve that problem, and unlike hooking I have zero risk of pallet saves, flashlights, or DS. I definitely signed less when I knew I could just go kick whichever generator I needed to with pop regardless of how many times I kicked it before, which has also been nerfed compared to back in the day.

  • It's very disappointing to not have the lines. For me it was definitely one of his highlights.

I really do wish we would be told that they're never coming back if they know it to be true, or even share some basic details of why they disappeared.

  • I'd love a way to get three or four zombies myself. I think they're incredibly entertaining, and are often excellent information about survivor locations.

Camping and tunneling are both extremely toxic. If survivors are swarming the hook camping can be excused but tunneling? ######### no. Its a pathetic strategy by ######### killers. I play both sides, both at red ranks. I never tunnel or camp and consistently get at least 2-3 kills.

Survivors being toxic is annoying but not game ruining like killers doing the same thing.

Regardless play how you want, just dont expect the toxicity in this game to go away

If your teammate unhooks you, and then stealths away leaving you as the only visible target you are getting tunneled with zero remorse. They should be trying to distract me so you can get away and get healed. They're only doing half their job imo.

Except that killers get away with all sorts of griefing and toxic gameplay that's choking the life from the game, and I'm using "toxic" here in the sense that it is poisoning the game and severely limiting it's playability.*

Also, as mentioned, the griefing. I've suddenly come across a lot of killers running Franklin's Demise, or facecamping a sparkling survivor out of the blue, or just plain-old bleeding people out.

    Edit: *without necessity

What's wrong with Franklin's? Its the only perk that helps against items, and some survivors prioritize recovering their items so highly that they sabotage their team.

I've occasionally let people bleed out. I played against a SWF group that all took the less hook offerings, and ran perks specifically to further reduce hooks. A couple of those kids got to bleed out.

  • My last three games last night all had DCs. The first of the three had three DCs after I hit a single time. It's crazy to try and finish a game without oodles of DC bonuses.

  • I personally don't enjoy this play style, but then again I just bop about in the red ranks, and don't sit at rank one.

My question is really about "deserving" rank one? Isn't being at rank one a pretty much undeniable justification for such behavior? I mean the game is designed in such a way that this behavior has a profit rewarded for this person.

Perhaps the villain here isn't the person who wishes to expound how great he embraces the current state as is, but instead the system that rewards behavior that others find distasteful? It seems to me that if people want this behavior to stop the game needs to stop rewarding it.

    I wish I had BBQ

Alas, the Bloodweb didn't want to give it to me. Or any other slowdown perk(s) asides from RuinDying lol

I also feel this pain. The web doesn't want my nemesis to have much of anything that I prefer. I really enjoy pop, oppression, bbq, and surveillance, and the only one I've gotten so far is surveillance which is by far the worst when alone.

  • Which issue are you taking about? You have no context included.

  • I enjoy most, but I do find myself going doctor or plague most often.

  • Fighting like dogs is a bit hyperbolic isn't it? I personally like the conversations that arise. People like Scott and Dowesy make pretty good arguments in regards to actually buffing solo players rather than begging swf provided MMR exists because shrinking the difference between swf and solo would make MMR work better.

Granted I mostly watch killers because that's way more entertaining so maybe the survivors are more aggressive on the issue.

That said I think you're giving a handful of people far more credit for shaping the conversation than they actually are. The community is divided because the rules are so heavily divided. Look at the huge litany of invented rules survivors expect killers to follow. Those come from the survivors and not some kids talking on the internet.

  • Adept Trickster for me for rarest I have. Nothing has seemed crazy difficult that I've gotten.

  • I mean I think we all get our enjoyment from various styles of play, and I'm not one to judge.

Personally I enjoy having some extra rules for myself as a killer, and if the survivors are good enough, or belligerent enough, I can start throwing out some of those rules. Some of the things I find belligerent are definitely things done survivors find fun.

I play swf pretty much exclusively, and some of my friends are exactly the kind of people I hate to play against.

  • If there are not more survivors than killers then why would the survivor que be long with the killer que being nearly instant? What could possibly be the reason?

Killer daily rituals are way more common, and playing as a killer often is much easier in regards to earning blood points even before you see bbq and chili.

The way killers struggle on console I think is likely a factor. Survivors also get to play with their friends to increase enjoyment whereas killers are alone.

No? With barbeque on killer you get like 60 thousand each game. You still have to unlock all the perks for both sides, if you want ruin you kevel up hag to 40 then grind bloodwebs until you get it. You want borrowed time you level up bill to 35 and grind bloodwebs until you get it. Its the same exact thing on both sides

Some of the killers I've leveled hit 50 before I'm ever even offered BBQ. I still have a couple who have been 50 for some time with no bbq offered. Luck plays a huge role.

  • I don't play survivor hardly at all, and just by watching shrines I have my level 50 dwight with every meta perk I could want. The only reason I have for leveling another character is for the alternative skin, or possibly the small benefit of Ace being incredibly quiet by default.

The grind of going through an entire bloodweb to get each killer up to snuff is intense. I suppose it's nice to have my dwight more or less already finished which means I never really need to level another survivor. I have a lot of work left for some of my killers tho.

  • I'm kinda curious what people think in regards to aggressively protecting a totem. If a person keeps recklessly throwing themselves at it, and you aggressively defend it, is it tunneling?

Do you have any idea of how many people bough the game & barely payed or people that have many account?

Also some people are just not super good at doing some stuff & that's perfectly fine. Like many I have no struggle getting at rank 1 both side if I play a lot while some people will find it almost impossible to get rank 4.

You can pretty easily compare the rank 1 achievement to other achievements to get a bit of a metric. About half the killers that hit rank 10 have hit rank 1.

At least 34% have hit level 25, and half of them have prestiged at least once. I still haven't prestiged anyone but my favorite killer because I don't see the point otherwise and I imagine that that times the numbers compared to if the achievement was simply level 50.

I don't even consider myself that good. The game is just not hard to get to rank one, even on the killer side these day.

In the past 2 years there have been like 50 nerfs to survivor and 50 buff to killers. What do you want more?

Have you looked at what percentage of players hit rank 1 killer on steam?

It's 4% of the player base. Wouldn't it be much higher if it were incredibly easy? Heck even rank 1 survivors are only about 6.2% of the players.

It would be nice if playstation and xbox had trophies/achievements linked to rank as well, but they don't.

  • As a person who experiences random button mash failures this is a wonderful change. I only play with friends when it comes to survivor, and I hate when I'm tapping my spacebar and suddenly I die anyway.

I hate feeling like I've failed my friends with an unintended suicide.

  • Survivor: Probably 20. I haven't even looked in over a month.

Killer: Right now 3, but I usually bounce between 2 and 5

It depends on region you're living in. I'm in the same region as him and survivors are god awfull in that time

Fair enough. Here in the northwest US it gets really sweaty about 10pm MST (UTC−07:00/-6:00 with daylight savings time).

  • @landromat said:

He was good. But his 50 win streak stomping noobs at night when all good players are sleeping with ruin undying got boring very fast.

In my experience the night time survivors are way better than the daytime kids.

  • Fascinating input. Thank you for your time and effort.

Complete agree. Gen speeds aren't the most balanced thing, but it's not the main problem. Too many maps are too big, and as you said, spawns can be pretty unfair as well.

    @GannTM said:

I don’t want them to increase gen times tbh. Gens are boring enough as it is. I think they should make it where survivors can’t immediately spawn on top of gens.

How long do you think it takes for red rank survivors to find generators? I totally agree, especially since I play doctor, that too many maps are too large, but at the rank I play it seems like survivors are on generators almost immediately even on maps where generators are harder to find.

  • The time of the day I play as killer my queue is almost never more than a minute or so. Primarily I play afternoon into the night. I'm genuinely curious what time you play and if you have cross-play enabled.

The only long queues I seem find are in the morning at times.

  • Seriously it does just outright remove my urge to play killer some nights. Repeatedly being put up against rank 1 survivors when I'm not close in rank, and either trying to play new killers or fun perks instead of the straight up mechanically superior options is demoralizing.

It's often more satisfying to log off and play something else which just increases survivor waits.
