I dont even play DBD at night because of this. The intense, taunting, sweaty, tunnel-camping , 'hit you on the hook over and over' killers are all over the place from 5 PM to midnight.
Playing at the crack of dawn is great. Or 3 AM. I almost never play killer, but I bust out the twins maybe once a month for a game.
I 4ked this group with the twins and thought, "wow, I'm getting good. at killer" One of them was a streamer, so I went back and watched his stream... he was high as a kite and doing a viewer challenge where he couldn't look behind him lol. And I BARELY pulled out the win.

(I like him) 🤥

I would love it if they did the vampire based on Bram Stoker's Dracula (the 90's film with Gary Oldman). With the long, trailing cloak and the weird hair.
And I'd also like it if they made the werewolf like the one in An American Werewolf in London. Maybe they could work in the "spirits of those who the wolf has slain" angle, too. They need to use the howl from the movie, too.
I don't know if any of you have seen the really old Invisible Man movie (from 1933), but he'd be a good wraith skin. He's such a jerk in that movie, it is hilarious. They should use some quotes of his, as he has a great voice.

This is my policy when t comes to endgame in DBD: Open the door and leave..
I see the same thing over and over. 5th gen is done. One survivor gets hooked. Other survivors 99% the door. I have kindred, I see the killer standing there, camping the hooked survivor. The group runs over there and it becomes this cartoonish brawl where the killer drops just about everyone as they dive in to unhook.
Usually 2 survivors end up dying on hooks. You give the killer more kills when you could have just left.
If I'm hooked at the end.. just leave.
Open the door and leave.
-
I don't know.. almost every single game, players 99% the doors and the killer gets MORE KILLS as a result. The majority of the time, 3 of the 4 of us could have escaped, but instead the players 99% and end up with 2 or 3 dead.

This thread reveals who has the real life empathy perk and who doesn't. It is fascinating.
If your connection is bad, you shouldn't play. Because life isn't all about you.
-
As a survivor main, i love playing against the twins. I think all of the newer killers are a lot of fun to play against. The problem, for me, at least, is that nobody plays them!
If the twins were really overpowered and impossible to play against, more people would be playing as them.
-
I don't get why people complain about keys. They almost never get used successfully. On the new dev stream, they said people who bring keys into the game almost never actually find a hatch and use the key on it.
-
Because you guys complain about everything.
Look at the threads that appear here every single day. If behaviour listened to every complaint, there would be no game.
-
If they can use the music from the movie in the game, especially as chase music, then I say hell yes!

IT FOLLOWS (sort of)
It couldn't work quite the way it does in the film, due to the lack of sexy time mechanics etc, but I liked the idea of one survivor being "cursed" and desperately wanting to pass the curse on to a teammate somehow (maybe actively, like a game of tag, or through some other action like unhooking, idk). Maybe the "curse" could be tied to the obsession mechanic.
Only the cursed survivor can see the killer and they suffer from some downsides, like Exposed status basekit, addons could add more things like Exhaustion, Hindered, etc.
Non-cursed survivors are also Oblivious but can hear the killer's footsteps etc. Maybe there should be some subtle sound cue when the killer is nearby.
Probably wouldn't work, tbh. There are likely a million problems that I haven't considered.
Great film, btw, if you haven't seen it. A genuinely smart horror movie.
I love this movie but yeah, i don't really want the survivor's naked dad as a killer.
-
It's just immaturity. I'm sure a lot of younger people play the game. Sore losers and sore winners!
The most amusing posts in this thread are the people doing backflips trying to justify being a jerk.
-
I agree with Luis - The Shining would be a great chapter. So many cool areas. The room with the old lady, the hedge maze, the hotel bar playing that old music (from the end of the movie) and the room with the, uh, furry who is in the middle of something.
I thought of one more licensed expansion:
I Know What You Did Last Summer: Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) as a DBD survivor. Boom. A dock/boat might be a cool DBD map - there's that one area full of ice cubes if I remember right, that would be cool in the game.
The Fisherman is the lamest killer, though. Make him a skin? For Legion? Or Ghostface (it would be funny to see the Fisherman peek around corners)?
-
Not sure how I feel about a killer that has a mullet and wears all denim.
-
This movie will ruin your life:
-
It is definitely full of memes. That said, when I was first learning the game, I did find a ton of threads on reddit with very helpful tips on how to succeed in the game.
The upside to the DBD reddit is that there are far less complainers/whiners compared to this forum.
-
I am happy with the speed in which they release things. Pyramidhead and then the anniversary was a nice 1-2 punch. Sometimes I wish for more killers and survivors, but if you get too many of them too fast, than none of them will feel special.
-
I'd go with:
Kindred
Borrowed Time
Prove Thyself
Leader
-
Doctor: I can't handle the wiggly skill checks. I'm embarrassingly bad against this dude.
Freddy: I don't "get" Freddy. I hate how you keep going into the dreamworld, very annoying.
Legion: Legion just stabs me at will. Annoying!
Leatherface: For whatever reason, it seems like most people who play L. Face are jerks. Often camping the hook, while simultaneously being sore losers AND sore winners.
-
Do they actually look at reports? I've reported a few people but I kind of get the feeling it does nothing.
-
As a player, the killers I enjoy playing against the most are: Clown (he's hilarious IMO), Gunslinger (he's cool), Demogorgon (also really cool), and Trapper (I enjoy freaking out about trap placement and respect a good trap)
-
Friday the 13th is fun, but there's not a lot of people playing it and some of the players are pretty toxic. It's a TON of fun if you play with friends, though.
Predator: Hunting Grounds is OK. I got bored with it fast and the game didn't run well on my PC.
-
Orion slaughtered everyone in this thread.
I will never get over the idea of a game company "using LGBT to make money" lol. I also love "They only care about the LGBT cause in June" haha.
I am going to assume a lot of you are 7th graders because the stuff you're saying is so feeble and transparent. "Make it organic!" So dumb. It's a video game, for the love of god.

Anything that gets announced in June and it concerns the LGBT community is only for Profit.
That's it. 100%.
Want us to feel like it's a genuine gesture? Don't announce it, make it natural.
Yes, that oh-so lucrative LGBT market! So much money!! Man let me tell you, if the next Indiana Jones movie features Indy doing a dude, it will be the highest-grossing movie of all time! And I bet Harrison Ford doesn't even care about the LGBT cause, he's just in it for the money!
The mental gymnastics here are very amusing. You guys have to go to such great lengths to disguise the fact that you just don't want LGBT stuff in the game.
I know it's pointless to try to get through to you, but here's an example. Say a company donates a million dollars to a cancer research foundation. Then you find out.. the company doesn't really care about cancer! They still donated the money. They still contributed to a good cause. Are you really going to try to act all outraged about it? Even if BHVR doesn't truly, in their heart of hearts, care about LGBT, they still included them.

It's not thats why they already changed there logo back now that its not pride month.
Corporate pandering
Would you like DBD to have a permanent rainbow logo?? How could BHVR prove to you that they actually care? Maybe they should rename the game to "Dead By Gaylight", would you be able to relax then?
I know how much it concerns you that people might be "pretending to care about LGBT" so I'm just trying to help. Just the idea of the developers sitting behind a stack of cash cackling and going, "Those fools think we care about LGBT people! In truth, we are indifferent! Muhuhahahaaaa!" fills me with concern

He asked the question “What do you think guys, why LGBT is so important for the devs...?”
I just replying that I don’t think they have a personal investment in pushing an LGBT agenda, just that they can make money off of a demographic so of course it’s important in that sense.
Again, what you are saying is so dumb. Everybody should care. Everybody should be making an effort to lift up the marginalized and to do their part to end oppression.
Honestly this comes off like you're mad that there's gay stuff in the game and, because you wouldn't include it, you think nobody else really wants it in there either. It's as if it's beyond your comprehension that some people care about other people.

I didn’t read each comment so I can’t speak for others. Starting off by saying any kind of hate towards people who are gay is not right, although everyone is entitled to their disagreement with it due to religion or whatever. Obviously a lot of people would be mad if someone was creating threads about excluding gay content from the game, but I’m sure the people who say they are “seething with resentment” would be quick to attack them, call them names, etc.
Not sure who you directed your specific post to, but I’ll address the second to last paragraph. I don’t think anyone (at least not me) is saying BHVR will get rich by adding gay content, just that adding said content is for monetary gain - not because it’s important to be inclusive.
It is so weird to me that you would question their motives. What monetary gain?! "Our new killer is so gay!! Buy them now for just $5.99!"
I see a ton of gamers who seem to resent the inclusion of LGBT stuff in games. If anything, publishers probably lose money because of it.
-
I feel like the premise here is so dumb that I shouldn't waste time answering it, but I'm going to assume some of you are really young and don't know any better.
The entire world is coming to a better understanding of what it is like to be LGBT, and the entire world has realized that LGBT people have been marginalized (at best) in so many ways throughout history. Now the entire world is trying to finally erase the stigma attached to LGBT persons - giving them the right to marry, educating people on what it means to be LGBT, and incorporating them into media. There are plenty of LGBT folks in real life, and therefore there should be plenty of LGBT folks in media.
The very idea that BHVR is going "Ooh let's make this guy gay, we;re gonna be rich!" is utterly ridiculous. Evidenced by this very thread, where quite a few people are seething with resentment over it.
This is not a trend. This is a step forward in world culture.
-
I think the answer is much more simple: Immature people are toxic. There's young people playing this game and I'm sure there's some immature adults, too. They get frustrated while playing and they have a temper tantrum. Sometimes they do obnoxious things in the game.
This game is interesting because it is meant to be cooperative on the survivor side. Selfish people have a hard time working with others. Giving big bloodpoint bonuses for unhooking and being a team player seems to keep the game from falling apart, but I still run into at least one jerk every day.
-
I always use self care. I also always use empathy, because most people just run around hurt all the time, which is crazy to me.
-
Yeah that would be cool. I just re-watched the original last week, kind of a fun movie. The villain is about as 80's as it gets.
-
I really love Psycho, but I'm not sure if it would be right for DBD. I mean.. Norman Bates dressed as his mom? It would be cool for the map to have the hotel and the house, though, complete with the basement. The best thing about Psycho, IMO, is the music, so if they could get that for chase music, I'm all in.
I have been thinking about horror movies that don't really have a good killer for DBD purposes, but have awesome potential maps and survivors:
Get Out: The main character and ESPECIALLY the dude who works for the TSA would be great survivors. You could use the mansion as a map, along with the gazebo/exterior.
Return of the Living Dead: The Tar Man zombie would make for a really cool killer or skin. The map could be a combo of the graveyard and the supply company. The movie has a million potentially cool survivors. Out of all of them, I think Trash (Linnea Quigley) is very iconic and she definitely deserves to be immortalized in DBD.
Happy Death Day: I just love the main character (Tree, I think her name is) and the love interest. The killer in the baby mask might make a good legion skin. Tree's perks could be time-related, which could be cool.
Zombeavers: I love this movie, love the main character, and the lodge/lake would make for a fantastic map.
House of the Devil: All of the characters in this movie are great. The evil grandma would make a good hag skin, maybe.
The Descent: I saw this movie over 10 years ago, and still I think about Juno. She was a total badass. The monsters were cool too. The caves could make for a good map.
The Conjuring: I love the Warrens, they'd be great survivors.
Ready or Not: Samara Weaving would be a really cool-looking survivor - the wedding dress, the sneakers, and the bandolier. The mansion would be a good map, and I'd love it if they could incorporate the old-timey "Hide-and-Seek" song from the movie into the game somehow. DBD is essentially a gory game of Hide and Seek.
The Walking Dead: I'm sure a lot of people are really done with this show, but I personally think that Glenn and Michonne would be epic survivors. Glenn is IMO one of the great characters in horror, so much so that the show pretty much died when they killed him off.
Dawn of the Dead (remake): I love both versions of this movie, but I think I'd actually prefer to see the remake incorporated into DBD. The mall would be such a cool map. I can't think of any particular survivor that I'd want to see, there's a lot of good ones to choose from.
-
I love this movie and this would be an awesome chapter. In addition to MacReady, I would flip out if they got Wilford Brimley's character as a survivor. He is still alive (he's 85) so i guess it's possible he could do voice work. "Diabeetus" would be a plus.
Map locations I'd love to see: The shack with the noose and the area underneath that has a half-built spaceship. The room with the partly-dissected thing. The room where the blood bags were destroyed. The room with those poor dead dogs.
I think it would be cool if, when you tried to heal a wounded survivor who was actually the Thing, it would suddenly split open and try to absorb you (i guess wound you in DBD terms) like in the movie. Maybe it would shoot out tendrils and pull you close, sort of like the gunslinger's gun.
I'd also love to see the thing be able to become a survivor's head/crab monster - maybe it can assume that form and move really fast, but can't hurt you until it shifts back into a humanoid form.
