I hate this goddamn killer with a passion. I don't even like playing this killer, that's how much of a problem she is. I hate it so much. Spirit makes The Twins look like an actual fun killer to play. Spirit is probably the biggest problem of a killer ever since The Dedicated Server came out as a killer.

Please I wanna hear your absolute harshest opinions about this damn killer.
ljnkvrbuovhdsofvd, uGooihpirgkfvNiufoejrgwegget
Gotta go with problem. Not so much in the character, but the developers' continued overwhelmingly mediocre design of killers. For the past year, we have gotten nothing but B, MAYBE low A killers but nothing more. I guess BHVR is still trying to uphold the ancient prophecy and order of the three only viable and consistent killers and high ranks. The Pillarmen, of Dead By Daylight. Hag, Spirit, and Nurse. When was the last time we got an objectively good killer. Think with me.
March 2021:Trickster? Bad. Somewhat fun.
December 2020: Twins? Not viable either. Or fun to play against and as.
September 2020: Blight? Fun to play as, but immediately forced to play the M1 game when you go against somewhat competent survivors in high ranks. Also, console blight. Pure masochism.
June 2020: Pyramid Head? He's good, not meta but not Trickster, but simply unfun to play as unless you bring double range addons and I'm All Ears. Even then it's simply satisfying to get those hits but it's not really fun for either side.
March 2020: Deathslinger. The Satan of Dead By Daylight, at least in survivor perspective, and understandably so. Not particularly fun to play as, or against. Same thing as Pyramid Head, satisfying moments, but won't really work if the survivors are competent or if you time poorly.
December 2019: Oni. Decently good, definitely an A tier, but has many draw-backs. For one, his power must be earned, most efficiently done so by hitting two healthy survivors and absorbing a couple of orbs, too. One you have his power, it is usually a complete aids-baby to use, unless you bring good addons. Hits take some percentage of your remaining power and even with high mobility, it is still a gamble on whether or not you will find survivors. God forbid, you play console Oni. You aren't really getting any downs in a timely manner in that case.
September 2019: DemoNation. Very mediocre. Epitome of Jack of All, Master of None. Average chase pressure, average map control. Overall, he is too telegraphed. He lets survivors know when he misses a hit, lands a hit, teleports, literally does anything. His undetectable is basically useless when you realize his steps are gargantuan. Overall very mediocre, gets overwhelmingly destroyed by good SWFs with good communication.
June 2019: Ghostface. He's not really fun to play as, or against. Honestly just a Myers without the swag and significantly weaker. When a Michael tiers up you feel the butthole clench and once you are in the edges of his terror radius you tense up. Ghostface doesn't really have that kind of fear instilled into the survivor and his addons are also rather weak, especially compared to those of our resident stalking father. If you can loop him efificiently, you are fine. You are also probably fine if you are on Coldwind or something.
March 2019: Plague. This killer is revered as the owner of the D tier in most tier lists. The fact that your power only lasts 60s, and can be completely negated by the survivors, is not an equation for a good killer. Inconsistency in her power and dedicated servers means you have to bring Vile Emetic and get survivors into corners to puke on them just to be successful. I think she is in desperate need of a rework, but her addons are mostly fine. Maybe just a potency tune-up.
December 2018: Legion. Must I say anything? Basically a Plague in terms of power reliance. The fact that this "totally scary killer oooo" is based on hitting you once and then running away, I think makes him unintimidating and his power utterly ineffective when survivors don't heal. Even good Legion players aren't really good users of Feral Frenzy (not because they are bad, but because the power is.), just generally good killers.
September 2018: Spirit. Like the messiah of Dead By Daylight, but evil. I cannot count a day where I have browsed these forums and not seen a single "shpirit op! beehavyur plees nurf!!" post. Power is pretty good, although all spirit players are about 60/40 good players/bots. Pretty strong killer, although basically universally hated by all survivors.
If we calculate the time between Spirit's release and the time of this release, it has been a whopping TWO YEARS and SIX MONTHS,(and still counting) ever since we have gotten a meta-creating/joining killer. I say still counting because we are yet to get another Fun Police killer.
TL;DR: spirit is not the problem, it is BHVR's design that is. it has been two years and six months (and still counting) since we have gotten a spirit-level killer. The game has been out for almost 5 years, and there are still only like 3 killers which are viable in high ranks unless you trained in a remote monastery with Tibetan warriors in the art of hatchet-throwing or something.

Survivor: Felix: I like his perks and his cosmetics, plus I got extremely good perks within my first five levels with him.
Cheryl: I like SH but somehow my level 5 Felix had better perks than my level 42 Cheryl. My Felix is now eons ahead but I just like Cheryl because it's Cheryl.
Killer: Demo: This choice tells you I don't care about winning. Since MMR is coming out I will be much more comfortable playing him. Shred pays off when it hits and map traversal is a must have.
Pig: I like having slowdown and I usually almost always get 3-4ks with Pig. I've gotten like 4 headpops ever without tampered timer.

Main Pig. She will teach you how to be good at the game. If you main Freddy you'll forever be a chump who can only rely on a crutch killer to win you games. Pig will teach you good fundamentals.
As a relatively newer pig main I can confirm. I don't forsee pig getting any changes (sadly) because first half of Almuerzo plays her. "Uh, according to the statistics, Pig actually has one of the highest kill rates!" What? This doesn't even make sense. I used to play Spirit and 3-4k most games. Playing Pig has put me through MANY hardships that have paid off. She is in desperate need of a buff, not even a rework, just a fundamental buff. The ambush lunge time should be changed to 3-4 seconds. Better yet, there could be addons that increase the lunge range. Instead of having useful addons we get things like Rule Set No. 2 and Jigsaw's Annotated Plan. Hopefully BHVR will get on the balancing game and start making more killers like Demo, Pig, Twins more fun to play. Pig is not atrociously abhorrent as she does have a built in slowdown to her power that also threatens the survivors. I have gotten 3 head pops in the last week. (How?) Just change the ambush length and she'll go from B-C to A.

Saying this takes the game hostage starts a bad precedent. When do we start calling stealth players griefers simply because they're playing a certain way? It might be boring and tedious to look for a longer amount of time than hoped but you had nothing stopping you from looking for them other than your lack of patience, that's the reality.
Because OP literally went AFK for 40 minutes. That's 30 generators that could be completed. They are taking the game hostage by not progressing the objective purposefully. Even then, the killer cannot chase two survivors at the same time so there is one person with pressure and another without. There is NO REASON for people to do this.

I play killer on PS5. That alleviates the frames by a lot. I play killer 80% of the time and only play survivor when its with my friends.
There's only a few types of survivors.
Clicky Clicky: these are actually quite rare, at least for me. Usually play Nea, Feng, or Claudette and think they are God because they looped you for 1-2 beginning gens and dropped a pallet on you. Will always run the meta perks so expect the worst, hope for the best.
Gen Jockeys: These players are usually Nancy, Dwight, Cheryl, and Kate. These players spend their free time reading engineering guides and will always sit on gens all game. Once you get in a chase with them it's probably a free hit since they usually have no chase game and try some scuffed af plays. A few of them are actually good in a chase but most just can't hold out.
The Wannabe Clicky Clickys: These players are almost always Feng, Laurie, and Davids. Even if they are injured you can trust that they will always be a few meters behind you in a chase for emotional support or something. They frequently inspect your chest with their flashlight instead of aiming for the head for saving teammates. They usually just want the killer's attention but fail to receive it. Will bodyblock you whenever they can.
The Bots: These players will be no better than AI and are usually default Dwights, Megs, Bill, Nancy, and Elodie. You can count on them to never look behind them in a chase and to hide in corners whenever they can. Usually 8-year old Switch users who stole their mom's credit card to buy A Binding of Kin.
The Altruists: These players will not hesitate to farm their friends as soon as they are hooked. These people are usually Bill, Laurie, and Davids. The killers that they do this against is for some reason always Doctor. (the survivor in me speaking)
The Parkour Vloggers: These players for some reason think they are filming an epic parkour montage and will jump off of every ledge, balcony, and open hole they can find without balanced landing. These are almost always people playing Claudette, David, and Adam
The Snake on Virtuous Mission: These players probably die of heart failure every time they are seen by the killer and don't have any chase game at all. They will always hide wherever they can and are usually Elodie, Claudette (you know it), and default Nea(for urban).
Overall I play against a lot of PC survivors and the occasionally console swf.

New Pig main here. I bait survivors that want to boop the snoot because haha funny meem amirite guise into an ambush attack. It's a free but only works once so I take advantage of it. In one day I got 3 head pops in different games with only Video Tape and exhaust trap addons. No timer, no gears. It always makes my ######### day when a survivor dies to a trap.

have you ever played at SEA ? u got downed and you have unbreakable but useless since killer would patrol near you until 60s passed or u wasted your unbreakable
Yet again I present to you another GROUND-BREAKING revelation.
Soul Guard is a teachable Unique Cheryl Mason Perk . It can be unlocked for all other Characters from Level 30 onwards: Perk descriptions may vary from in-game descriptions for reasons explained here.Perks support Mouse-over functionality (desktop version only): hovering over the modifier words with your cursor will reveal the values behind them.On mobile browsers, the values are displayed in small text after the modifier words. surbibor is to stronk!!:Distortion. Love watching at a distance when some killers with BBQ don't see me so they convince themselves that I am somewhere nearby and start patrolling the area like a prison guard. I like to run autodidact as well because at full stacks 1 skillcheck can fully heal.
kilur op: I like to run Haunted Grounds on Pig. Not the strongest of perks, but it usually gets cleansed at the beginning of the match and I can see where someone is. I also like to use corrupt because it serves as a timer as well for when I should have a down or at least some hits. BBQ is a good information perk and also helps alleviate the grind.

Slugging can be part of tunneling. If you get unhooked and downed right after because the killer ignored everyone else and still went for you, you got tunneled.
allow me to present to you, a revelation

David. I started playing around the time Clown was first released and on the PS Store Lullaby for the Dark was free for some reason so I took advantage of it and bought the pack. I got him to level 30 or so and he was thus the first survivor I leveled. Not my favorite survivor though, that would go to Cheryl although it is my subjective opinion.

Civilization VI. Thanks Mathieu.
But really, I've been mostly playing battlefront 2 trying to level up most of the heroes I'm interested in leveling up.

Don't know if anyone here is familiar with Warframe, or specifically the developers, but they are turning into DE. What I mean by this is either the devs do something NOBODY asked for really well, or something people did ask for really poorly. I just think the devs make so many half-assed changes and have so many problems with their games. Another similarity with BHVR and DE is that BHVR is now just trying to cater to all the 8-year old switch noobs. Visionary for example. I must be legally blind or on Hawkins/Lery's to get any value out of that perk. Literally only works for new players that just picked up the game for $7.49 on eBay. I also hate when survivors just sit on gens but I can't blame them either. Mr. Pretty Good Job So Far says "totems are a secondary objective, NOED is the punishment for not doing it." No. Add a legitimate and mandatory secondary objective for survivors. The only demoralizing thing about sitting on gens is the fear of depip for no other categories. But as you know, game has to be easiest as possible for crybaby survivors or else they might crap their diapers.

I usually vary my build slightly based on what killer I'm playing but it's sometimes similar.
Spirit: Corrupt, BBQ, Stridor, Whispers.
give me ######### idc
Triangle Brain: Corrupt, BBQ, I'm All Ears, STBFL
Deathslinger: Corrupt, BBQ, Gearhead (i dont have a lot of perks on him), and STBFL
Nurse: guess. and whispers, thanatophobia
B untress: guess again. Thanatophobia, Lullaby (again not my perk of choice b/c i am still leveling)

It's because the devs basically never play their own game, and on the slight offchance that they do, they are all like rank 20s so they are going to go against default trappers and baby huntresses. They have no idea how to balance because they don't play where the perks are relevant. The highest rank dev I have seen was MacLean at like rank 10. They never want to nerf or buff anything unless baby survivors complain that the killer has the ability to hook them. There are so many perks that should be getting more attention and not even full on reworks just minor data value/coding changes, such as Gearhead should be 60 secs instead of 30 for example. Take this new patch into consideration. They buffed like 5 survivors perks, albeit irrelevant buffs on perks nobody uses, buffed one killer perk, and hugely nerfed another killer perk. Ruin Undying is really not that strong unless you are playing at like green ranks. If the survivors have at least 5 brain cells and manage their time efficiently, they would know that the killer can only chase one survivor at a time. That means you can have one-two totem hunters and one person on gens. Two if only one is totem hunting. Ruin/Undying was usually liable to be cleansed within the first 5 minutes of the match anyway unless you are playing with 8-year old switch players. As I said before, the killer is one person. They are not omnipresent therefore they cannot chase everyone at once. You have a huge opportunity to go power through 5 generators unless the killer scares you off of it. B-But random stranger on the internet! They buffed Wraith Trapper and Clown? Clown is still going to be fundamentally weak and boring to play as. 10% speed that you have to wait like 2 seconds for? Wow, so strong!!!!! Nobody except for Otzdarva (god bless that man) plays Trapper tbh, and even he doesn't play him that much. Nobody even really escaped on the first try so this little RNG game of escapes now is was never asked for. The only thing people asked for with trapper is trapper/stitched bag being basekit and trap spawns not being so garbage. Wraith's change was also not asked for. It's not like you are going to uncloak 24 meters away then sprint towards them on a gen at Mach 3 and hit them or pull them off or something. People with eyes are going to see you when you get closer. Once again, people only asked for windstorm being basekit. Like really, I just don't know if the devs are incompetent or if they just refuse to listen to what the community asks.

I am seemingly the only person who doesn't like the idea of having the black and white survivor portraits. I actually like the full color portraits much more because I find the achievement portraits to be straight up ugly.
-
BBQ: You hook a survivor and they scream, revealing their auras to you for the entirety of the game.
Ruin: Whenever a survivor gets off a generator, the generator explodes killing everyone including the killer in a 10 meter radius.
Pop: Whenever you kick a generator with pop active you punt it to the opposite corner of the map.
Corrupt: 3 generators are blocked for the entire game until 2 people die.
Nurses: You see the aura of anyone healing in a map-wide range. Press the active abiity button to instantly teleport to them regardless of what killer you are playing and mori them.
STBFL: Hit someone twice and you have no hit cooldown. You can hit anyone and instantly hit them once more.
DS: Complete a very hard skillcheck when picked up to mori the killer and end the game.
Adrenaline: When the final generator is completed, you move at 300% speed for 60 seconds but at the end of those 60 seconds you die of heart failure.
Dead Hard: Press e to not only outplay but to outplay the game. You gain endurance status effect and 300% speed boost for 10 seconds so you can ram through the wall and instantly escape.
OoO: Throughout the entire game you see the killer anywhere. They are rendered legally blind thus making them unable to see at all.
Sprint Burst: Sprint at 600% speed for 30 seconds but a twig damages your Achilles Tendon at the end which makes you unable to run and you are put into dying state.
Spine Chill: Whenever a killer is looking at you in a 32 meter radius, your survivor sharts themselves and uses the force as acceleration and runs at a faster (unclear) speed.
Overall balance imo because if they are all OP then it is true balance.
-
RULE 897: CHASES ARE NOT ALLOWED. IT IS TOO OP AND DOESNT LET SURVIVOR DO ANYTHING. SMH MY HEAD BABY KILLERS IN CHASE SHOULD BE BANNABLE.

Was playing badBreathslinger this David wanted to be altruistic pro man towards Laurie while she was on death hook. I guess he didn't realize. He took a hit and thus was injured. Bromie thought it would be a good idea to wait at the gate against a badBreathslinger so I took advantage and hit a Faze Timothy quickscope on him and he was subsequently downed. This was at like rank 3 so maybe he hadn't played against slinger before? Was ultimately a stupid play so I got 3 kills.
-
I play Battlefront 2 alot with friends. When they aren't on sometimes I play killer. I touched solo q a few times and its even more monstrous than the room of the average Bubba player.

1k(ish) hours console player.
Seeing as DBD is really a one-of a kind thing in it's genre especially with the cancellation of Friday servers and Friday getting no more updates, DBD has a lengthy future. They seem to be getting a steady amount of licenses and consistent chapter releases. I used to find Friday superior but sadly licensing issues there resulted in the death of the game. Due to this if devs continue consistently releasing I'd say the game has a future. The game would be better, however, if there were new things to do. Such as 2v8 game modes. I am no coding expert but I don't think that this would take years to make. If not an actual gamemode, then at least a mode for custom games? I just think the game is quite simple now and survivors need something to do that is more complex than holding the action button on a generator and occasionally pressing M2/L1/LB.

I think DS should be reworked to this:
The perk still functions exactly the same but it has a maximum of 45 seconds active time but when the survivor is being chased, the timer does not go down. And if the survivor goes down the timer is reset and doubled to 90 seconds, forcing the killer to really throw a lot of pressure away if they do want to tunnel. It doesn't stop tunneling entirely, but it makes the killer have a very big disadvantage if they do try to tunnel, which would be very discouraging to any killer who considers trying it.
I think conceptually and on paper this sounds very well but I don't think that being downed should double the timer. People with DS will just get off the hook and get in front of the killer who is chasing their friend to make the killer get in chase with them too. I think it should also get the pop treatment of a straight nerf to 45 seconds since most DS's are not immediate pickups anyway unless it's a low rank killer and they are usually 45-60 second DS. But if you see how annoying people who have DS make it obvious that they have it and decide to play Altrustic Friendo because they know they are immune to being picked up and hooked twice. Doubling the timer is also worse because if they have UB I believe it takes around 20-30 seconds to pick yourself up and if you get downed and left downed at the end of your DS your timer will be replenished. I think that the version of DS (35% wiggle) right before this new version was fine. I also think enduring should affect DS stun time because similar to something like Stridor Spirit (which is not exactly relevant but I am just using it for the sake of the situation), it has a chance of being a complete waste of a perk slot because the surivors don't have the perk you are trying to counter, (IW/DS) or you getting value out of it. Maybe DS should potentially deactivate when you are fully healed or repair a generator for a total of 10 seconds. DS is nearly never used as an anti-tunnel perk lest you play in the low ranks against camping/tunneling trappers and is more commonly used as a second chance perk. Overall, my ideal version of DS would be:
-DS will activate for 45 seconds when unhooked.
-DS will deactivate when someone else is hooked.
-DS will deactivate when you start repairing any generator for a total of 10 seconds.
-DS will deactivate when you are fully healed.
-DS will deactivate when you pick yourself up from the ground.
-Enduring 3 (and 3 only) can reduce the stun time of DS from 5 to 3 seconds.
These changes will ideally preserve the concept of DS truly being an anti-tunnel perk and not being a saving grace for survivors who want to play like jerks because they know they are immune. Call me an entitled killer player or a baby. Do whatever but I bet it won't be worse than the state of Demo.

Is it just me or does Freddy's lunge feel unnaturally long? There are so many times his claws don't even connect to my body and I'm still hit.
The reason being is that all killers have the same weapon hit boxes. Spirit's sword has to have the same hitbox as Clown's knife else people will only play the killers with the more broken range. Just expect Freddy's hand glove thing to hit as far as Trapper's machete.
-
The duality of man
Survivor players want DS to last for the next 8 games and for it to instantly murder the killer resulting in the game ending and you gaining 600k BP and instant rank 1.
Then there are killer players who wish DS was a real QTE where if you miss you stab yourself and commit seppuku.
DS is like Bubba. Misunderstood and abused.
-
Breakable walls.
Maybe I just need to git gud.
I find them really annoying and impractical because you only notice them while in a chase and they usually cause god loops. Take time at the beginning of the game to break them and your gens are gone. Don't break them and you get looped for eons. They ruin a lot of accessibility for the killer and imo are just detrimental for fun. But deep down we all know BHVR's values; Fun is prohibited for the killer.

"These free rewards aren't big enough!"
This community is reaching new levels of entitlement.
It's because they aren't. Devs are so stingy imo. For the christmas event they gave us like 500 iridescent shards for 5 days and probably thought they were the most benevolent beings to ever grace the players. 250k BP is barely enough to level up 7-10 levels in an already decently leveled (25-30+) killer if you are not being selective about what you get. Devs are trying too hard to protect their worthless BP economy as if it valued anything. The BP the devs give me for a month I can get in about 10 games as a decent killer.
