  • The game isn't healthy at high ranks. I suggest ranking down and hoping they don't spawn on top of ruin. I've gotten 4ks on PS4 BP farming on hag just because they want to pop ruin so bad. At mid ranks if they don't find it or can't get to it due to your protection it can last almost half the game.

  • I don't think it's a whole lot of fun with it either.

I don't disagree with you at all. The point I was making is if we balance all the things killers want, the killers may be better set to deal with the smurf survivor, but survivors will be completely hosed in the reverse.

I'm arguing against the constant want for removal of things like keys and instant heals. I suggest tweaks to make instant heals not so easily abused, but still powerful items. I'm also against removal of instant downs. I know many whiney survivors would love that. I don't think it is going to help balance anything if you removed it.

Oh, well people are going to whine no matter what. I dont disagree with you that killers are whiny and a lot of the things they claim they want are actually bad for the game but I understand why they can feel that way.

The salt that a lot of people experience in this game is cyclical, which leads to a lot of hypocrisy. I've seen it happen a lot. Somewhere someone delivers a salty message, "toxic genrushers", "tunneling pos no skill killer" "pallet looping noob" whatever it is is often said when it didn't actually happen that way. So what goes through a lot of peoples heads is, "If I'm going to be called "X" insult regardless if I actually do it, then why not actually do it?". The salty whiny people are the ones that give in to that thought.

Honestly though I've never understood why people complain about genrushing or pallet looping. Sure it's annoying but what else are survivors to do? There isn't often a context where those aren't the most optimal things to do. Gens are the primary objective and pallets/looping is the best weapon against killers.

However complaints to killers are extremely context based and often are mislabeled because the survivor can't actually see the context.

My claim it would die is based on the fact that survival rate is already low at the most populated ranks of the game, casuals. Taking away more tools, and add in all the other crying about keys and gen timers that high level wants "balanced" and those ranks will completely fall off. Who is going to want to play at those ranks when you are nothing more than a pinata for a deprived 13 year gold's smurf account? Population drops, not enough survivors and the game dwindles.

It is why the devs are not taking these drastic moves. It would be foolish. I've played plenty at the red ranks. Instant heals can be frustrating, but getting 3 to 4k in those matches is still attainable with enough skill. It is not the dire issue these threads make them out to be.

Smurfs work both ways and in my very limited experience, given that it's on PS4, there are more Survivors running 4 "meta" perks at ranks 10-20 than Killers running "meta" perks. Which is bad because it doesn't lead to killer retention which is just as relevant as Survivor Retention.

Are you telling me that frame-lag whenever bloodlust triggers ISNT a game mechanic? But seriously they really are different games. Unless Hag skipping frames as she walks is just apart of her kit.

As for people DCing on PS4 I can see it being pretty common on both sides. I'm a killer main and it happens quite a lot with people on their last hook or they're the last alive for whatever reason.

But I did have a game earlier this morning as Survivor where the killer DC'd, likely because of me judging by him constantly smacking me while on the hook. Again I don't know why he did it because he would of at least gotten a 3k which isn't bad for a 2 perk Wraith.

  • I used to think old Freddy was bad, until I learned to play him. Now I miss him.

  • @DBDbuildsYT

If you're keen on playing killer but dont feel good at it just find what you do enjoy doing as killer.

For example I love being stealthy and scaring survivors, keeping them on their toes. Scratch Mirror Myers on The Game or Lerys Institute is some of the most fun I've had in the game. Pig with Amandas Letter is also quite fun.

I also play on ps4 and have attempted to play the "viable" killers, to not much success. Knowing that Im not good with the best and only viable killers at high ranks has told me that I wont be successful there, So I find fun where I can. Even with that said I've managed to get to Rank 6, sweating occasionally but I am rather boosted.

I really enjoy making or using "meme" builds. Ambush-only Pig, the previously mentioned Scratch Mirror Myers, All-Hex Hag, I find really fun. Being sweaty can be satisfying if you win but it can be the worst feeling when you lose badly and get tbagged. I also find being sweaty and winning against people that are just bad to be almost as bad. So I mostly only sweat to try and get more bp to use on what i need for my fun builds.

Just try to find out what you enjoy doing as killer and focus on that.

My point is..Is that if you vault that window 3 times its blocked..On whatever side you're on..either the one that leads down or you're stuck on a hale bale..Now you're telling me that you (killer) can't get to the survivor in that time? Im one of the "boosted" I can't loop juke or any of that..But I can sometimes run the killer for a min..But to not even be aware that this is a problem or as people are putting it "built in because killers need it" it kinda did piss me off..Because he got a down that he shouldn't have got at all..He used part of the game that isn't even really there to get a down..to me that's cheap af..that's like all the killers that cry about ds and adrenaline being a "free pass" if it was that big of a problem then maybe they should change the way the tractor is all together because imo they shouldn't be able to walk on air to get a frickin down.

    @MrsMaliciousX

Vaulting it three times will always land you on the bale of hay (once on the hay from the tractor, second time to the tractor, then back to the hay) which will always put you in the position of: wait till the killer walks all the way up the tractor to the vault, then run off the hay and continue the chase.

And like I pointed out,the "exploit" isnt even 100% counterplay to sitting on the hay as a survivor thats also aware of it still has enough time to escape if they see the killer start to swing or even so much as sees the red stain. So no it's not a free pass.

And while we're on the subject and since you brought it up. DS and Adrenaline are not free passes either and I've actually pointed it out before in defense of survivor mains. Counterplay exists for both of the perks.

  • @MrsMaliciousX

That scenario only works under the pretense that the survivor stays at the bale of hay which any survivor worth their salt wouldn't and it isn't a hard "loop" or "mindgame" to understand. They're some of the safest vaults in the game. They force killers to either give up the chase or play into it which only results in the survivor gaining more ground than almost any other vault and wasting time a hell of a lot of time doing it. This "exploit" or "glitch" is a way around it that still takes time and effort to learn to pull off and even with that said, if the survivor is really good they can still get away without taking a hit.

This is also not taking the tractors with two vaults into consideration.

And no, people arent reporting it because they think "it's useless". They arent reporting it because they dont have a problem with it. If people didn't report things because they thought the devs didnt do anything than this forum wouldnt be filled with nearly as many people complaining, which is probably 80% of the General Discussion board.

  • Candyman from...well Candyman would be cool. Dr.Weir from Event Horizon might work as well. Angela from Sleepaway Camp would work pretty well since the survivors are at a campfire.

  • To my knowledge the bit with the tractor was popularized by OhTofu but I've seen numerous Youtubers/Streamers do it since as far back as April so if they devs intended on fixing it I think they'd of done it by now. Especially considering how they've "fixed" lesser things since then.

But I really don't care because I don't see it as a glitch or an exploit even, those tractors vaults have always been stupid strong and any vault/loop that's near infinite has no place in this game.

  • Dream Pallets are a good idea but the snares can go ######### themselves and like someone pointed out already using the Dream Pallets takes up an add-on slot, severely limiting his capability.

I never thought I'd say it but I prefer old freddy at this moment.

  • Im just gonna copy paste my comment from one of the other three [BAD WORD] threads about this.

I see two things going on in this thread.

Thing the first: People against the idea of In-game comms based off both the game not being designed for it AND experiencing the strength of swf groups using 3rd party comms.

The second one: People in favor of in-game comms citing that it will open up balance changes yet not providing examples of how it can be balanced.

In-game comms don't prevent people from using the 3rd party comms. Yet In-game comms can possibly provide an advantage for killers.

With this in mind what will almost certainly happen is either survivors will completely ignore the in-game comms opting to use 3rd party comms to deny the possible killer advantage, OR they just use it to grief the killer. Only a small percentage will use it the way it's intended.

This is also not considering the amount of people that hate the idea so much they quit the game resulting in a loss of player count leading to longer queues leading to griefing having an even larger impact leading to even more people leaving. It's like some sort of snowball. Granted this is only a possibility, not a certainty.

    You completely missed the point.

You only need to do the grind one time as a survivor. There's no reason to fully level up multiple survivors except for pure fun. Each killer needs to be grinded out individually because each killer is completely different.

Also, biased? Towards killers? lol no.

Are you subtly making the argument that survivors dont need perks?

Because last time I checked there isnt a single survivor that has all second chance perks, exhaustion perks, and healing perks. Not that theyre necessary. I can think an argument can easily be made that if survivors play optimally they dont need perks.

But still im a little confused as to what your argument is.

  • I kinda will after having so many great matches with him. I think atm I have my longest 4k streak with him which only Michael comes close to for me. Granted this is because i dont play Billy, Nurse, or Spirit but that's because I'm trash both with them and in general.

However I dont think Freddy is nearly as bad as people make him out to be. He's not amazing but for killers that dont have map pressure they NEED to be able to slow down the game and he does really well at that if you know when to rotate and when to commit.

  • I highly disagree with this, even under the guise that it's targeting lower-rank play.

Assuming high rank survivors wouldn't use it simply because it isn't optimal is ignoring swf groups or even just people that enjoy running different builds that could easily use this to grief killers. As said by others Ruin is already gone quickly and another thing commonly complained about is how Killers will just dc if their Ruin is popped immediately. This will just make the problem even worse.

Even if going along with your argument and assuming good high rank survivors wont use it, making it's usefulness only at lower ranks doesnt help anything either. All it would do is build up a reliance on said perk for survivors to find totems. On the low rank killer side of things it would work against new player retention for those that either play killers with base hex perks or those that learn to prioritize Ruin, teaching them how useless the perks are.

I just don't see where it's effective in the long run as it seems to only satisfy those that want to complain about Noed without wanting to learn/acknowledge it's counterplay.

  • Pretty standard build imo.

    I prefer spicier builds like

:OoO, Distortion, Spine Chill, Sprint Burst

    Or

    :Tenacity, Boil Over, Unbreakable,Breakdown

    So yeah, bad ones.

  • @Science_Guy said:

    "Worse than Legacy" Mhm...

Hot take here: The entire problem of the "grind" is very much exaggerated.

Especially for Survivors, who have it really easy all things considered. Killer is a different story since you're obligated to go through the unlock process on each and every killer, but Survivors just need to max out a single character and everything else is completely extra.

Bringing any one char to lvl 40 takes no effort anymore. It's not even fair to call it a grind. 50+ all perks takes effort. But if there's a BP event, you can still bring a character from Lvl 0 to P350 in about a week if there's an event going on.

Case in point: there's this one streamer who I love, but it never fails to me amaze me how he complains about the "grind" when a killer comes out because he wants every perk on said killers before he plays them... and yet without fail he has them all maxed out in under a week, in days even, and from there he simply dumps the extra BPs in his other lvl 50 characters for the next two and a half months.

That said, perk tiers are definitely obsolete at this point, considering they're constantly removing all but the tiniest percentages of variation in the tiers with every update.

I'd assume since the streamers and youtubers you brought up play the game as an additional source of income, damn near their job I'd say that they're probably putting more time into the game. Which would explain how they have a new killer maxed within a week.

In my case it takes me usually about a week to get a killer to level 50. That's just considering level, not maxing them out. I spent half a week leveling trapper via building and playing simply to farm bp, not necessarily to kill, only to be rewarded with no viable "meta" perks, and only two of the perks I required for the build I wanted to make which was the only reason I leveled him in the first place. The difference being that I'm not able to put nearly as much time into the game as these other people.

Now I'm not trying to say there's anything wrong with putting more time into the game but just because someone has the availability to grind longer doesnt mean the grind isn't there. The number one factor to it being the rng, which the tier system for perks just makes even worse.

Do you want to lose one stack of PWYF or four? Do you want PGTW/Haunted Grounds to last for 40 seconds or 60? You're forced to either grind longer or settle for an objectively worse version.

All of this is on top of the fact that the rng may force you to take longer on even obtaining a desired perk.

Case in point i just unlocked tier 1 PGTW on Myers today after leveling him to roughly the equivalent of 75.

TL;DR The grind exists and the tiered perks/rng just extend it in almost the most artificial way possible. It's not fun and doesn't help retain players that can't invest as much time into the game others.

Yea i just looked it up to double check, i was way wrong lol.

  • Ghostface's is much faster, at least it feels faster. Im pretty sure pigs is 105% iirc

  • @EvilBarney666 said:

One thing Myers has on Ghostface is the survivors do not know they are being stalked by him. Ghostface's stalk has a meter on the survivors icons. So as soon as you start stalking them if they are paying attention they know your around and can hide or look at you.

Survivors only see when someone is marked exposed, they cant see the bars otherwise.

  • Why do you provide an in real life example for a new item but get angry that flashlights dont prevent killers from attacking?

You know that you can still move in real life if someone shines a flashlight in your face right?

    Flashlights are fine.

  • ######### man you make me look so bad being a Ps4 Killer main. The only real complaints you have here are variety in killer viability and Ps4 frame rate.

There's a meta that exists with killers, if you arent playing a meta killer then you need to slow the game down. If you dont do either of those things then you need to accept that you wont "win" unless you're facing bad survivors. Opting out of a meta means opting out of doing well. It works for a reason.

As for frame rate, it is trash on Ps4 and it sucks when it happens but similar to my previous argument, you have to accept it or play on pc.

For anyone who needs an example of how bad the frame lag can be here's a clip I snagged of my baby trapper.

    https://youtu.be/g4hyNQHS_mE

  • @brokedownpalace it's not even specifically tied to this game. I've played games before where the devs cave to people calling for nerfs that leads to an overall bad experience.

    https://youtu.be/bsC8io4w1sY

I recommend anyone who plays this game and cares about the balance and fun factor to watch this video, even if it doesn't specifically pertain to our game.

  • Posts like this just make killer mains look so bad. People just need to stop complaining and calling for nerfs every five seconds, it creates a very large "boy who cried wolf" mentality in the minds of the developers, and if they do listen it likely makes the game worse in the long run.

I say this as a killer main myself, the only map I've hated any exhaustion perk on is the aforementioned Haddonfield-BL. Sprint Burst forces them to walk if they wish to conserve it, BL requires them to know where to activate it adding to the list of safe spots they have to remember, Lithe doesn't guarantee safety as you can be hit or grabbed during the process of activation, Dead Hard arguably has the highest skillcap out of any of them, and if Adrenaline activates it probably means you weren't going to get that 4k anyways.

The exhaustion timer alone balances the perks out and that's not considering they require proper use to get the most out of them or that counterplay exists.

    Please stop unnecessarily complaining.

  • People will always complain when they lose and unfortunately it's up to the devs to decide if action needs taken. It's ruined many things in games for me in the past.

As for this game DS and MoM did need nerfed. I havent played when Sprint Burst was deemed op so I wouldnt know about that. As a killer main I have to say I dont have any issue with adrenaline but I understand why Killers complain.

This game already gets monotonous enough, only 2-3 killers being viable at high ranks just makes it worse. So when you mix things up and try a fun build and get stomped, tbagged, and recieve "gg ez" it tends to be pretty frustrating. Then survivors complain that they only face Spirit, Nurse, and Billy.

Balance is near impossible in any game so obviously the side that's at a disadvantage is going to complain, especially when their presence is vital to the game functioning.

  • Y'all are acting like Freddy was the best killer and if someone doesn't agree they just don't know how to play him.

I for one didn't like playing him because not only are other killers stronger with less effort but he never felt like Freddy, the only parts of his kit that resembled him is knowing where people are in his world and putting people to sleep. It didn't even have much of the aesthetic down.

For me at the moment just watching people smile after hitting someone through a dream pallet is more satisfying than playing non-rework Freddy.
