Dont forget tracking DS, Unbreakable, if other survivors had flashlights, hookstates etc.
Funny that survivors arent expected to track as much and get hook states, hexes etc.
Oh right, soon(tm) they might get "what are the other bums doing"-icons.
I notixed myself often mentioning that killers have been conditioned by the existence, not usage, of certain survivor perks, unlike survivors who cant wrap their heads around cleansing for noed. Watch streamers like otz being surprised when NOT getting DS'd lol.
There is definitely a difference between the amount of things the Killer needs to know, versus the amount of things the Survivor needs to know. While people calling out hacks when they see Mad Grit is really funny, it also shows that Survivors straight up don't know what some Killer perks do -- not to say either side should be expected to know what every single #########' perk does down to the tiniest details, but you should at least know enough about each perk to not accuse someone using them of hacking while having hundreds of hours in the game.
-
God, dodging games 'cause of a specific character in the lobby is so 2016-2017. To answer the question, though: No, I don't. I do usually look out for names, though -- if I recognize someone who was particularly toxic to the other players in the match, I avoid entertaining them and just leave.

I feel that's more of an argument for nerfing nurse, unless we accept that people who play m1 killers should have to go against DH every match just because a different killer exists.
It ends up pretty cyclical too - "I have to run the meta because it's the only way to deal with nurse" "I have to play nurse because it's the only way to deal with all these second chance perks" etc etc
Also good to see you back btw @TheGannMan :)
Nurse and Dead Hard may have damaged the game's balancing more than the likes of Legion have, especially due to the both of them causing a vicious cycle of constantly annoying people and making them play in less fun ways as the less fun ways also happen to be what counters Nurse and Dead Hard. At least, that's my opinion on things.
-
If Dead Hard was used for just dodging hits, I'd suck it up and admit that I got fooled into swinging at a Dead Hard. But its most frequently used for distance, meaning most chases just get straight up reset because the Survivor presses E and makes it to a pallet they otherwise would not have made it to. The problem with Dead Hard is that it is fundamentally ######### -- the perk'd need to be REWORKED to not be a pain. So, if Dead Hard is to get changed, it'll either just get a distance nerf and not change much at all, or not be the Dead Hard we know right now.

Windows of Opportunity and Nurse's are in the 24 meta perks. :p
You're a meta user!! (I'm kiding. I never thought these two perks were OP. They're good tho.)
FU-
I'd probably use Any Means Neccessary if Windows of Opportunity were deleted, and just stick to Overcharge on Huntress.
-
I already run a pretty non-standard build on my two mains, Huntress and Trickster.
For Huntress, I have been running Agitation, Whispers, Lethal Pursuer and Overcharge/Nurse's Calling. Trickster's one is Whispers, Play With Your Food, Bamboozle and, again, Lethal Pursuer.
I don't play Survivor much, but the only Survivors I play that are actually levelled up for something outside of perks (Cheryl & Steve), I run Lithe, Alert, We're Gonna Live Forever and Windows of Opportunity on.

Well there were people who argued that colourblind mode will make some people gain unfair advantage so I am not surprised anymore.
Yea we all use colourblind now because of it for sure. And even if it was true and it was giving advantage, what is stopping everyone from using it too? Its only unfair if some players have access to it while others dont
I think their idea is that doing it is not "honorable" (being honorable in a video game featuring fat clown man and 4 teenagers with knives who get migraines from running is very important, or so i am told) so everyone doing it, by default, has an "unfair advantage."
Yeah, I don't get it either.
-
To be honest, I am all for shafting the meta up the arse as long as BBQ & Chili keeps its bloodpoint increase.
I like number go up.

But if there's an ingame slider... It becomes available to everyone, no matter the platform. So no unfair advantage. Unless there's something I missed.
Yeah, that's my point. People complain about it being an "unfair advantage" like they themselves cannot turn their FOV and brightness up if such sliders are implemented.
-
@ShinobuSK said:
Just change shadowborn and make FOV slider in menu settings, cant be that hard.
But we talking about a game that doesnt even have brightness settings for years so yea...
Every time I see arguments against FOV and brightness sliders, its always that they will be an "unfair advantage."
Like, y'know, they won't be options available to everyone or something.

thank you for this i hate it when the EBILL SEJUWZ force their NON-SEXY WOMZ onto my EPIC AND BASED BIDEO BAME!!!!
-
NGL its kind of incredible how everyone goes for one another's throats in these threads. Like, holy #########, we get it, being camped and tunnelled, or getting clicked at and having to deal with several second chance perks, is not fun. Have you considered just #########' sucking it up and moving onto the next match?
People you meet literally once, maybe twice, over hundreds of hours in Dead by Daylight shouldn't be living rent free in your head to the point you write rants about how Killer, or Survivor, for that matter, are "easy mode" because you got cooked. It's a video game, a poorly balanced one at times, sure, but still a video game -- you don't need to paint anyone who plays the game in a way you personally do not approve as some ######### oppressor who is out to get you.
Take a chill pill, go outside, and try to re-evaluate what led you to the point you are this deeply bothered by a video game.

To be fair, pallet loops are few and far between, and most of them aren't all that safe. It isn't as bad as a map like Shelter Woods but I highly doubt you'll ever see a survivor bring a Strode Realty Key anymore.
i am one of those nerds who thinks no one should bring map offerings unless they really like the aesthetic 'n etc of a map they wanna go to tbh
just think it'd be cool to go to a map cuz its pretty and fun instead of going to it cuz one side has glaring advantages or disadvantages in said map, y'know?

To be fair, all survivors got in this patch was.. a(nother) CoH nerf. Because BHVR is survivor-sided (/s).
gonna cry and scream infront of their headquarters in canada as a result of this INSOLENT pro-killer bias of theirs
-
Nurse requires, by far, the most mechanical skill in the game -- to claim she isn't "even that hard to play" is just proof that you never even bothered to play Nurse yourself. Nurse has already gotten every nerf she needed, ie you do not get to have 5 blinks and literally never miss a swing due to the amount of corrections you can make on a blink you ######### up, and she is fine as she is.
The fact OP went onto complain about how BHVR will penalize you for leaving your teammates to get ######### with one of their teammates missing, but won't do it if you do two things that pretty much make you lose as Killer unless you are extremely fortunate is just...icing on the cake, really.
-
People have been playing more "scummy" on both sides, to be fair -- its just more noticeable on the Killer side since Killers have way more of a presence. It's not a bad thing if you love competitive stuff -- both sides doing their absolute best, resorting to "cheap" tactics (ain't cheap if its legit and wins you games IMO) and etcetera, to win the game can be fun for some people.
But, y'know, most of us wanna play the game to have fun, chill matches, so more competitive-spirited people, or those who just can't be bothered trying, kind of ruin the fun. I think its an overall problem with how the game has developed over the years, rather than Killers or Survivors being little bastards.
-
The change is good, but the main problem with CoH was that every Survivor, within its vicinity, had free Self-Care and kind of Botany Knowledge, essentially giving them six perks.
Will the perk be more bearable now? Yes. Will it still be really annoying? Probably also yes.
-
haddonfield gets changed to be a bit more bearable for more killers and suddenly the game is TOTALLY MISERABLE for survivors???? what

I mainly play Killer and, to be honest, unless its for the Tome, I do not go for 4ks, so I rarely slug for the 4k -- letting the last Survivor get the hatch is easier anyway, and my MMR increasing not as much as it could is a nice bonus.
Basically, as long as the Tome does not tell me to get a 4k, and the last Survivor lets me give them the hatch, I avoid 4king entirely, so I avoid slugging for the 4k aswell.

Holy #########, you should have just told me from the start that you were straight up concern-trolling. Fine. You want "known games?" I'll give you bloody known games.
Leo Kliessen from Tekken (AFAB, but very clearly gender non-conforming), Jun Kurosu from Persona 2, Varus from League of Legends and Thanatos & Achilles from Hades -- all characters who aren't masculine manly men men, all from pretty popular games, and all who are either gay, or at least LGBTQ+.
Edit: This list gets even bigger if you include not overtly masculine bisexual men, by the way.

Thank you to take my point seriously, and responded to me in a kind way.
I understand what you mean but Im just sick of feminine gays being marginalized, there are only space for masculine gays in video games.
Everytime a male character is feminine the devs are always "but he is not gay"
Why is it so difficult to make a gay queer character in video games ???
I think you have simply not been looking at the right games -- probably ones made by developers from countries where femininity amongst men aren't as accepted, because there are plenty of games with characters who are definitely feminine, and have been confirmed as at least bisexual by their devs -- Monster Prom & Camp come to mind.

"Don't create a male character looking too feminine"
I am sorry, but have you seen Trickster before? Cuz, if you think BHVR is somehow scared of making feminine men, I think you either never saw how Trickster dresses, or are just really dumb.
This is not even mentioning the softer outfits characters like Jake, Jeff, Adam and Jonah have, mind you -- BHVR is definitely not scared of making men who aren't buff broskis who are scared at the idea of being womanly.

why didn't they just make the next survivor gay.... why do they have to take a character which has been part of the game and lore for 5 years and suddenly make them homosexual... i think thats what's bothering people the most
Because, to be honest, making a new survivor just for gay rep is kind of, y'know, gross? It'd send an actual bad message, too -- it'd tell people that BHVR is too scared of actually making any of their existing characters gay, and had to make a new one just to get gay people to shut up or look cool. Making David gay, at least, makes it a more pleasant thing than "hey we just made a new character btw they are gay."

i don't like the J.K Rowling esque reveal. "Oh yeah by the way guys, dumbledore is actually gay!!!"
It feels like an insincere attempt to appeal to our current generation. like come on dude you can't just make the guy gay out of nowhere....
There is a bit of a difference between TERF Queen Rowling and BHVR's reveals, to be fair -- Rowling clearly did it for brownie points from his transphobic lesbian friends who drool at the sight of gay men, while BHVR doesn't really have that circle, so it was just more of a neat thing than a clear attempt at saving face or appearing "progressive".
BHVR just doesn't really...have a reason I can think of to do this reveal for brownie points, especially since, shockingly, I do not think BHVR is stupid enough to try the same thing "twice," as people had accused them of "going woke" and trying to "appeal to the gays" before with the OG Pride Charm.

Maybe you just dont want the things to changes. For my own Im exhausted of this fake inclusion. I want real queer representation.
Things have changed. Gay people aren't made explicitly for comedic effect anymore. We are seen as PEOPLE. Real queer representation isn't when a male character basically wears a neon sign declaring their love for other dudes, it's when a character is gay and just another guy among thousands.
We aren't some alien horde who needs very specific quotas met for "real queer representation," we are ######### PEOPLE like straight and cis people are.

Its wrong because it just says (again) that the only representative way of gay people in video games are masculine gays.
Everybody says being feminine gay is a stereotype but its not because we have 0 representations.
Not gonna lie, this reads like concern-trolling more than actual concern.
I am a gay man, and a pretty effeminate one, at that, and to be honest, it feels so reductionist towards the diversity among gay men, and the LGBTQ+ community in general, to claim that the first gay character of a video game being a masculine guy somehow declares that the only way to represent gay men in fiction is by making them masculine as #########.
Several series have come and gone, featuring gay men who are pretty effeminate and, well, pretty, though that is my personal opinion -- to claim that DbD is somehow single-handedly giving off this message is not only silly, I mean, come on, it's ######### Dead by Daylight, but it is also dismissive of all the work games with bigger LGBTQ+ rosters have put into diversifying their LGBTQ+ characters.
Besides, it's comically easy to make your argument in reverse, and it sounds just as stupid! If they made, say, Trickster the first gay character, I could just as easily bemoan that they are sending the message that the only okay gay representation in fiction is slightly effeminate, mentally unsound men. Hell, you can literally make your argument for any character in Dead by Daylight being the first gay character -- its so stupid, you can apply it to EVERY CHARACTER IN THE VIDEO GAME.
Just get a bloody grip, would you?
edit: didn't see that my previous message got approved while i was typing this, oops lmao
-
Hey! Achillean dude here!
Comparing BHVR announcing David King is gay as a neat little thing to J.K. Rowling, well known transphobe and raging narcissist who might aswell exist only to serve the needs of horrible people, declaring Dumbledore gay for brownie points from the horrible people she surrounds herself with is a bit ######### up. BHVR hasn't really done anything wrong, outside of make a game that's not really well-balanced, to deserve comparison to a geniunely horrible person like Rowling, no matter how sudden you feel their announcement was.
Furthermore, David King being a gay dude who "dresses straight" (what?) isn't really a bad thing, nor does it try to say that hiding that you are gay by "dressing straight" is a good thing. I myself dress pretty flamboyantly when it's a special occasion, but I usually just dress pretty casually, and people don't really identify me as a dude who likes other dudes from the way I bloody dress. Not gonna lie, it actually feels kind of homophobic to claim that a gay man wearing more casual attire "doesn't help the gay community." Like...is the fact that some of us don't dress in a specific way that tells people "hey, i'm gay by the way" a bad thing? I don't get it.
I cannot believe this has to be said, but David being gay is not going to change anyone's perspective on the gay community, or the LGBTQ+ community at large. It's literally such a minor detail that, at best, there'll be some "funny" trolls who think they are #########' hilarious for tunneling David and, even then, this already happened with people who wore Pride Charms. Can you list any instance where that resulted in people developing a negative perspective on the LGBTQ+ community? I sincerely doubt you can find any example that wasn't concern trolling or just someone trying to find an excuse to be an ass.
Finally, "they recycled fanfic"? Really? That's your problem here? Then I guess literally no character currently in the game could have been the one to be announced as gay instead of David? Cuz, y'know, there is at least one fanfiction about each character in Dead by Daylight being in a homosexual relationship. And, as I tried to say in another thread, making a brand new character for the sake of gay rep is also pretty shallow -- you mean to tell me you are somehow bothered that BHVR didn't make a character specifically for gay representation, and instead chose a character that already had lore? You are somehow bothered BHVR didn't actually do what some people are claiming and pander to you by making a character whose sexuality is, for some reason, important enough that a WHOLE NEW CHARACTER had to be made for it??? Bruh.

@MetaBuildSurvivor said:
They took the easy path. Could just have made the next upcoming char one of the letters, with bigger lore expansion. Turning some fictional character gay to please the crowd is just all around stupid.
I love this argument so much. Not because it's good, oh no, but because it implies you'd need to design a character around their sexuality.
Believe it or not, that's not how people work -- your sexuality being a part of your identity, I mean. People you see on Reddit whose "identities" revolve around jacking it to anime do not have personalities -- rather, they use the fact that they jack it to anime as a placeholder for their distinct lack of an interesting personality.
I am not trying to pretend there aren't people whose sexualities play a part in who they are now, of course -- being an Achillean, asexual man has obviously effected my life, but I'd not say it is to the ######### point that it is a major part of who I ######### am.
The announcement wasn't just "turning a character gay to please the crowd" or "taking the easy path," it's just a neat little thing BHVR decided to announce. I assure you, many people, myself included, wouldn't really have cared if BHVR ended up never confirming that a character in their game is gay. Unlike the people who are crying about "taking an easy path" and "virtue signalling," we don't quite care about the who other people are into, including those fictional, even if they do not align with ours, as long as it isn't some troll/offensive identity like superstraight.
Are we happy that David is gay? Most of us are, yes -- it feels nice to know a character you play as, or just like, has had similar experiences to you.
Would we have been mad if BHVR didn't make him gay? No? He hadn't been announced as gay until recently, and we were pretty happy with headcanoning him as gay, so the announcement literally didn't change anything for us outside of a nice feeling, our "gay David" headcanon coming true, and people coping really hard about the sexual preferences of a character most of them only levelled up for Dead Hard.
-
Trickster always struck me as the type of person to be an Achillean. Everything about him just screams "I like pretty dudes" to me. Though I would imagine he is probably asexual, even if he is romantically into guys.
-
Neat! To be honest, I was expecting it to be either David, Felix or Ji-Woon if any pre-existing character was announced to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community, so this didn't come off as too much of a shock for me.
This isn't something tremendous, but it's the little things, ya know? I'm pretty happy about this announcement!
-
There is no better time to take a break from Dbd than literally any time you feel like it is necessary. I would honestly say just avoid the forums if you think it will help you feel better, though I think you can still play DbD if you just do not look at the end-game chat and such.
-
I am a gay asexual man (I only have romantic feelings towards men but I am not for the idea of having sex) and, yeah, I can understand the troubles people went through with people using Bubba's Claudette mask. I do not think face-camping was ever a part of the problem or a problem in its own right though -- it happens to be the thing many shitlord Leatherface players do, rather than something racially-motivated like the Claudette Mask. So while face-camping is something is an annoyance, I would not consider it a tool in the same level as the Claudette mask.
-
There are some Killers who sincerely find doing things like slugging, facecamping or tunnelling fun, probably because the only way they feel happy is making others suffer, and there are those who do it simply out of a desire to win, which can also be their flavor of fun.
I personally do not care about winning and my definition of fun is just having some good chases and generally vibing in-game, though I am an outlier instead of the norm from what I gathered.
-
I think arguing that, with Killer nerfs, there will come a point where no one is playing Killer, is kind of silly, though it is evident that some people have been so sincerely bothered by changes to add-ons that they have uninstalled the game.
While Gwinty is right in that there are simply things we do not know and that there isn't just an easy insta-fix for any of the problems the game has, I think there is also the fact that the balancing team at BHVR is overall just...not sure how to go about things.
They very clearly want the best for the game -- despite what SpiritSimp69 might tell you, BHVR isn't actively working to undermine their main game -- but they also probably still have an outdated understanding of the game, ie that it is just a horror game, which it has not been for a good while. I think a fair evidence of this is that, as time goes on, there have been more Killers, all of them with very pretty and well-done models, that have powers that are just a power another Killer has with a few things changed about it -- they are going off of whatever is terrifying and cool first, and viable second.
That is not to say they do not give a ######### about balance though, quite the contrary -- we would not be getting nerfs and buffs with explanations if they did not care to make sure the game was enjoyable to everyone. The problem is that, like I said, since they are working to make a horror game first, they are not exactly sure how to go about these nerfs, which is why their justification for nerfing some things is that they were being used too much. Now, I am not saying this is all justified, because it isn't. BHVR should work towards having a balance team that understands they are not just making a horror game anymore (and probably hire someone whose prior work isn't just random mobile games) and act accordingly -- but, evidently, this has been going well for them, so they have not bothered yet.
This is all I gathered from what I have seen or heard, though. Anyone who knows the on-goings within BHVR is free to correct me if I am wrong.
-
New Spirit has actually made me more inclined to play her, though her playstyle is not my cup of tea even with the changes.
People who have dropped her over the nerfs are just upset they are not handed easy downs on a silver platter, and good. Learning is a part of Dead by Daylight, and I am glad they can start doing that by learning a killer or two!

I have over 2000 hours on this game, I've reached rank 1 on both roles back on the old rank system. If anything I'm experienced enough to come to the conclusion that no amount of practice can overcome these type of odds set by the survivors of this game. At this point I'm simply resorting to the easiest and most efficient method (that would be camping), anything else only leads to frustration and further waste of emotional energy.
Neither hours, nor reaching Rank 1 on the OLD rank system indicate skill or experience. I have around 600 hours, and have comfortably reached Rank 1 on Killer on the old rank system myself (I do not play Survivor, not my cup of tea really) and there have been times where I was ######### up bad by survivors with less hours or lower ranks only to steamroll survivors with thousands more hours than either of us and higher ranks the match right after.
Actually learning while playing Dead by Daylight is what matters, not how many hours you have clocked in or how frequently you played in those hours. You can know about the game from having played that long, sure, but your hours do not indicate skill or experience. The more you delve into something, the more you know about it, but that never means you will be more skilled at it.
-
Are you sure you are not just bad at the game? This isn't some epic "lol git gud kid" response, you could genuinely just not be very good at Nemesis or Dead by Daylight in general. Not everything is the fault of a perk or Survivors being too powerful and, no offense, but I doubt you are one to talk about things if you can so casually claim that Corrupt Intervention is garbage because of something as silly as "survivors will literally hide for 2 minutes instead of going to another gen."
-
Clown's Pinky Finger nerf was probably because the add-on is pretty easy to use, so they wanted it to have some sort of downside -- it is the same logic as Iridescent Head, though applied to an add-on on a Killer that is objectively less powerful than Huntress. I do not mind the nerf, Clown didn't live off of Pinky Finger so this won't effect things at all IMO.
I do find it really funny that people are moaning about Leatherface's masks being removed, though. Sure, you can argue that the Dwight and Meg masks did not need to be removed, but Claudette's mask and, to an extent, Jake's mask needed to go given people started using them to be raging racists towards ethnic minorities, and BHVR simply chose to do away with all of them.
Oh and to the people moaning about how they "earned" these add-ons and Leatherface masks: Cope. Seriously, you got those by just playing, you did not perform some extraordinary feat to get any of the things that are being removed or nerfed this patch and the fact you are trying to upset as many people as possible while you still can just proves how shallow you really are.
-
Got it with the money I had left from getting The New Colossus, but only because I couldn't find anything else to spend it on.
I only care for the DLC for the Adept Twins achievement. Having all the Killer Adepts is fun.
-
Remember when we thought the Nightmare On Elm Street DLC was the worst this game was going to get? Then we thought it would be Blight?
We sure didn't expect it to ever get this bad, huh?
-
BHVR's estimated annual revenue is currently $118.6M per year. The problem isn't related to the money the game makes or the number of players it has because, believe me, it has a healthy amount of both. The problem is that the devs do not listen and/or are actively ignorant of the problems with the stuff they put out. Unless they were pressured by their higher ups, they released Binding of Kin IGNORING how faulty the DLC and the overall patch was and decided they would just fix it later -- not too dissimilar from how other companies like EA operate, if you think about it.
BHVR is definetly not as bad as EA when it comes to their monetization but, then again, it is kind of impossible to beat King ######### of ######### Mountain itself I suppose. Still, they do not deserve more money for their poor work. What they need is a stricter work place whose order of business can't be put on a bloody flowchart.
