  • PLEASE turn on the kill switch for these perks rn as it is a disgusting perk combo. This is literally old OoO but even worse. I’m amazed they haven’t done anything about it yet.

I don't think so. The is not survivor sided or killer sided, nor is it balanced, it just has some bs for either side, and I think the devs are slowly trying to make it better for both.

I do think there are some seriously problematic stuff on the survivor side:

-Perks that are very very strong and whose description could basically be summarized as "delete mistake or dele outplay from killer by pressing/holding a button". There are very few killer perks that work like this and the only one that's as powerful is probably NOED. I think perks that give you extra benefits during the match instead of outright deleting your mistakes are healthier.

-Their main objective is uninteractive, too safe and too simplistic, it makes it feel like when a killer is sweating their balls off trying to outplay a survivor consistently and fast, all the other survivors are doing is holding M1 and somehow getting close to winning, which is ridiculous.

-Their main form of defense against killers consist of getting gifted set ups by RNG. At the very least there's some skill in being able to use their set ups, but because of how gens work, sometimes that skill isn't even necessary. It's a very binary defense. You either make it to a pallet thanks to map layout or you don't. I think there should be more stuff survivors can do to that depend more on their skill than just map RNG.

    __________________________________________________________________________

At the same time, killers are able to tunnel survivors out of a match, regardless of DS, and have the tools to camp survivors to death, or slug them to oblivion (now reinforced by the existence of the Twins), all these practices, despite being tactics, deprive survivors of meaningful gameplay, in fact they focus on depriving survivors of gameplay in order to give the killer more time to deal with the game. I don't think this is healthy.

Lets also remember that because of very bad matchmaking and ineffective tutorials, it is very common to be the only survivor in a team that has the slightest idea what their doing. This makes solo survivor experience very frustrating for survivor players, however it's a catch 22, because the only thing that makes killer playable is there being some weak links in survivor teams, otherwise killer would be unbearable to play.

But yeah...there's massively impactful issues that make the experience of both sides quite bad, but it is getting a little better...slowly... Problem is, people are very bad at talking about them.

I guess in a way the game is swf sided. The amount of power red rank swf has is pretty big compared to the killer.

Good players know when they're getting herded and when to "tank" the gas to get to a more desirable loop/position.

But hey, being the best player that only loses (at most) one game a week, you probably knew this.

Do you have any videos uploaded? - I'd like to see such a player in action.

I do have a YouTube channel, but haven’t posted any clown gameplay yet. Only survivor

there are plenty of rank 1 clown mains who can maintain rank 1 on clown and 4k/hatch 3k every game. in fact I was a clown main myself and what you want to do is herd survivors with your bottles to places where you are comfortable in. discourage them from taking loops that you can't bother with. if you do it right you will have every survivor in a dead zone each chase while defending generators and totems in that same area. I find clown to be very underrated, matter of fact every killer in this game is A tier imo when played correctly.

Every killer can be played good, that’s a fact. But in some cases it could just be my bad luck. Considering I’ve only had the game since august I suppose there is still a big gap of learning required for me. I’ve gotten insanely good with my bottle hits, but again it’s more the fact I get put with so many swfs it makes my brain go numb. They all know how to counter whatever killer I play, so I guess the only conclusion I have is to try and “git gud” lol

thats defiitely one of the big problems.

another one imo would be the gigantic gap between solo survivor teams and SWFs.

balance wise, the whole existance of SWF is problematic, as you cant just balance around SWFs without absolutely breaking solo, but you also cant balance around solo without having SWFs being absolutely busted.

yet they also cant just disable one of the two either.

I was thinking that devs could add separate game modes , so if you want to play solo? There’s a mode for that. Want to play swf? There’s a mode for that. But then the thought of “Who would want to go up against a 4 player swf with 4 toolboxes?” Popped into my head. Queue times would be laughably long.

all of my losses on killer (if there is one in one week, killer is just so easy these days even with meme builds) are because of my mistakes. I watch my games and in retrospect notice so many errors that I have made which caused me to lose. sounds like you need some advice and practice, but I'll give you the most essential one.

    Must. Apply. Pressure.

no perk on the survivor side is broken or uncounterable. they can all be managed and played through.

Maps have been getting reworked and at this rate we will have deadzones as maps.

gen speeds can be handled by applying pressure, which comes from being good in chases and good decision-making.

totem spawns are honestly fine, did you expect to have 5 stack devour hope kills every game?

and lastly, most recent killers have been overpowered in some way. Twins camping, blight mobility AND chase, pyramid head tunneling and chase, deathslinger chase, oni just ends games in 1 minute as soon as he goes in to blood fury.

The gen pressure thing would be helpful, except for the fact I’m a clown main. At this rate I’m going to start bringing distressing with ruin undying he has such poor map pressure. I don’t even really bring devour, but I’m saying in my opinion totem spawns in most cases are either too op or too bad (I’m looking at you lery’s)

    Yes, but also no.

To put it simply, DbD is SWF-sided.

I guess so. The devs do encourage swf, but the way most players turn out makes me sad

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

In some edge cases (like death squad swfs) yeah.

But other than that dbd is in a pretty balanced state right now (At least the most balanced state it has ever been).

I can fully agree with this statement. I’ve only been playing the game since august and have already reached rank 2. But I looked back at the game’s history and, it wasn’t pretty when I saw how unbalanced it was a few years back. Red ranks is only swf in 99% of matches, and it makes me sad because I was looking forwards to learning more from people at such high ranks, not getting gens popped in 30 seconds and teabagging at exit gates even though I’m literally doing what my job is.

  • @Mister_xD said:

really depends on the situation im in tbh.

if the survivors play as optimal as they can and / or bring certain strong items, then the game gets very survivor sided very quickly.

if they dont, then i think its mostly balanced, sometimes even in the killers favor.

but in a world where everyone plays perfect and no one makes any mistakes, survivors would dominate.

And this isn’t really complimented well by dbd’s awful matchmaking system, pairing new player with rank 1 swf with all 1000+ hours.

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

I'd say more SWF sided than survivor sided (solo queues have notoriously sad experiences), but overall, yeah.

I imagine BHVR's a bit spooked to swing the hammer on the part of the game population they'd ideally keep at 80%.

I believe they just want to attract more player and get more friends playing, which I understand. But to the point you’re going to neglect killers just to get that attention is saddening to the killer mains.

  • @DarKaron said:

I definitely feel like the game is Survivor-sided, though this doesn't stem entirely from the devs themselves.

Survivors like to win and escape. Understandable.

But the problem arises when they'll do anything to win, and expect to win every game because they're the power role in this wack AF game.

And I also feel it’s a case of the devs not wanting to lose player base. I could guarantee that if the devs nerfed ooo swf groups would be in outrage and quit the game over it.

  • @Tsulan said:

    Yes

Straight to the point, I like it!

  • @DaKnight said:

Back before his buff my mindset was "anything goes with wraith" but now it's "anything goes with clown".

I usually pop mori's on clown, even though I probably have hundreds of hours on him and am relatively accurate with his bottle tosses by now.

I really like running chase perks on him; but with chase perks then I have no gen perks and have to sweat with a heavy dose of slugging / camping / tunneling in order to win. Never play fair on clown, unless the survivors are absolute potato or you feel like losing.

I think you’re right. Clown is a terrible killer, and has no map pressure. I don’t care if people get pissed at me for bringing a toxic build, so I might as well bring NOED if that means I can get any kills lol. I’ll probs start bringing ruin, undyinging, enduring and bbq or ruin, undying, NOED and enduring

Have you tried turning off VPN? it worked for me

I’m not really sure how to do that lol. I’ve been thinking it’s something to do with my hard drive, since I have been experiencing lag in other games like gta and dark souls. Heck, I even reset my whole PS4 just for the issue to get worse. My birthday is coming up soon so I’ll hopefully be able to get a new hard drive with the money. Only had the PS4 less that a year. Swing low, sweet chariot for my bday money 😅

  • I’m having the same thing happen too lol. Usually there’s a sound effect during the loading in, but I don’t get that anymore. If you play on PS4 like me, it’s probably the new update messing us up.

  • I’m honestly not sure. I’m having the same issue and I’m getting penalties for this! Also this could depend on what platform you play on. PS4 is suffering the most, which is what I play on. Hope we can get a fix ASAP.

  • I feel you. It’s gotten to the point for me where I get 24 HOUR PENALTIES! It’s ridiculous and needs to be resolved. But honestly this could link to the current issues on PS4.
