I used to play killer a lot. Less so these days when I realized that the effort needed to play well simply isn't worth it, but I tried some killer tome challenges recently, and the whole experience was absolutely miserable. Not that this is a rare occurrence or anything, I just think that this kind of thing is interesting. Killer hasn't gone AFK or anything, and I've been alt-tabbed for a couple minutes doing some work on the second monitor. The whole time he's been standing over my body, occasionally shaking his head, dancing with the crows, wandering off for a moment before coming back and doing the same. I don't know if this should be here or the off topic section since it deals with the genre as a whole instead of DbD specifically, but I'll put it here for now. This is something I've wondered since its reveal. Why a DbD-like? Evil Dead is great, amazing even, but it doesn't have nearly the following to attract the playerbase needed to survive in the PvP scene. I am the main character and I deserve to play how I want and win as much as I want, and if something I don't like happens I will blame the game for not letting me win. I was about to build a big altruistic healing build + this to give my team big speed boosts to repairing, but apparently it doesn't do that anymore? Healing, totems and chests, but no gens? I know the duration was changed to "until they get hit", but I can't find any mention of them removing the gen speed, and yet it doesn't mention increasing repair speed in the perk description. Whoa nelly, is that one hell of a dead perk. I even went on to use it with Botany and Desperate Measures, and it was still agonizingly slow. And they actually thought it was necessary to get rid of the medkit efficiency boost it used to have? Every game I've had tonight has had at least one survivor with triple digit ping, usually ranging around the 300 mark, and whenever I'm near them, my game stutters like crazy, as if I'm the one with the bad ping. My last game not only crashed, but crashed my entire internet as well, which came back the moment I quit out the game. I've had a few games over the past day or so where my ping has spiked to ridiculous, unplayable levels despite being perfectly fine before. Sometimes this would end up DCing me completely, and the most recent one had me wondering if something was up. Went up against a Nurse last night that blinked in a split second and immediately swung when materialising. I've never seen such fast blinks and post-blink hits before. I really enjoy going up against them; learning how to duke her blinks and how to effectively use los blockers to your advantage is really fun and satisfying when it works out. I was wondering why people get so aggressive in particular with this game, and I've come to realise that, as the title says, a lot of this game can feel like your being bullied. Even the simple act of shining a flashlight in someone's face feels like an aggressive act, when it's just a part of the game. Survs who gen rush, killers who just want to 4K as soon as humanly possible, survs who get angry at other survs for doing anything other than sitting on a gen or running the killer all game, but my question is: why? Simply put: NOED is overrated as all hell and can maybe guarantee a single kill, unless the rest of the survivors go for the unhook while it's still up.
