  • Killers have an incentive not to tunnel it’s called Make Your Choice. They don’t run it nearly enough. So even with positive reinforcement to not tunnel killers will still choose to tunnel.

  • All of the killers saying a survivor doesn’t deserve a guaranteed escape need to switch that around. Killers don’t deserve a guarantee kill and they for sure don’t deserve a guaranteed 4k which is what camping and tunneling early in the game to get a 3 v 1 does. The way survivors have had keys, hatch, toolboxes, DS nerfed to virtually unusable I just hear hypocrisy. Survivors are limited on the tools and the strategies they can effectively incorporate on at a solo level to maximize their escapes. If you are getting looped as an M1 killer then learn to play with the Nurse or killer w more map pressure. Survivors literally are now forced to do all 5 gens to get a 4 man escape and the average 2 hook states are lasting less than 3 gens if you are lucky and have team members that spread out on gens. Tunneling should have never been a viable strategy when there is 3 other opponents on the board. Killers want an easy win at the end of the day if they are down right choosing to tunnel from the start of the match. And they should be punished when they get to high MMR and have to deal with the toxic SWFs. Learn to be an effective killer without tunneling the first hooked survivor. Devs need to bring back the old hatch and key system since the tunneling is out of control. Or better yet bring back toolboxes that could get more than one gen done per toolbox.

literally every change the devs have made taking away essential perks or tools from survivors has enabled or reinforced the tunneling strategy.

Keys/Hatch: Used to be able to escape at 1 or 2 gens left with 2 or 3 survivors remaining due to hatch spawning earlier. This made many killers think twice before dwindling down the survivor numbers before the 3 or 4th gen popped.

Toolboxes nerf: Essentially slowed down gen progression so that if a killer was camping/tunneling they were punished w gens being done quickly. So while you may have gotten that one survivor killed in the basement the other 3 were able to escape.

DS nerf: The stun used to be a surprise and effectively the killer would know to stay away from the last unhooked survivor and the stun was actually a STUN. 3 seconds is a joke to get away in the current game mechanics.

And unfortunately I have seen killers wait out BT repeatedly just to get the easy down and kill. Those by far are the worst.

And survivors the only thing you can do when you KNOW a killer is tunneling is to:

    1. Do a gen!!! Don’t do a totem, don’t hid in a locker. Do your gen and hit your skill checks get them done.
    2. If the chase comes your way and you haven’t been hooked. Take a hit and try to bait the killer into a chase. If they don’t bite get back on your gen!!!
    3. If you are being camped don’t try to escape. Let the killer eat all 120 seconds of your hook phase.
    4. Do a gen!!! Don’t run in circles don’t urban around the map do a gen!!!

Survivor teammates are either on the team on their killers in survivor skins. Be the teammate you’d want to have.

  • Killers have 1 shots, moris, perks and iridescent add-ons. Survivors can’t escape until gens are done or they are the last one standing. That’s how it’s balanced. Increasing speed isn’t balanced in matches where survivors aren’t rewarded for winning a chase. A survivor get 1 life, I MIGHT get 2 or 3 hooks. And these days w the tunnel and camp rate so high you are doing good to get 2-3 hooks in the first 180 seconds of game play. So that 4 vs 1 easily becomes 3 v 1 which fastly teeters to 2 vs 1 (bc gens can’t get done with 1 person on hook and another in chase and the other going for the rescue ) and 1 vs1 killer always wins.

  • My mates and I have been feeling like this since Nemesis release. All of these secondary objectives plus gen blocking perks are getting very tired. I don’t want to do a puzzle box or get blown off a gen every hook state. There hasn’t been a baseline survivor buff in ages. Survivors still run the same, heal at the same rate, etc. With them constantly nerfing survivor perks (DS, BO, DH) and items (Keys, Hatch, Toolboxes) it’s no surprise the game has become boring. Survivors have less strategies while running progressively slower with more things to do in game to survive.

The best counter to bubba when camping is just do gens and hope he doesn’t get you with noed since you don’t have time to do bones

Umm...If the bubba is camping; you ahve time to do bones. He's literally not stopping you. Hence; camping.

Actually you don’t have time to do bones … a totem takes 14 seconds each gen takes 80 seconds and a full hook to death is 120 seconds. No possibly way to avoid NOED with a camping Bubba and do all 5 gens plus all 5 totems on one hook. Even if the hooked survivor ran the killer for 2 min before getting down you still have to find all 5 totems and cleanse them (90 seconds +) divided by 3 other survivors is not enough time. Even with a pink map and addons it’s very difficult. Best to do gens and leave if you have the cooperation of the other 3 survivors but with solo q that’s almost impossible. Hence the OP’s complaint.

  • Why am I not surprised. New Boil Over is just fine. I cannot count how many times I was very close to getting off or reached 100% and still got hooked in the basement or otherwise. Killer mains love to dictate the entire game…including how survivors choose to try to survive in the game. Killers hate waiting for bleedouts well I hate being camped and tunnel with 0 popped gens. Some of y’all need to get over yourselves and adjust your gameplay. Boil Over is easily countered, there are 3 survivors left on the map don’t dedicate to the one running into the two level structure duh.

  • Killers can kill by hooks, bleeding out, moris, or a number of perks/addons…tombstone, rancor, etc. Lets not forgot the one shots and second objective toting killers. Don’t forget killers already run faster than the survivors at base and run even faster in bloodlust.

There are plenty of ways to kill and literally only 2 ways to escape. And pallets only get so many uses.

So what do you suggest to make the game easier for killers to kill?

Controversial counterpoint: No one should see anyone's name.

I accept this an acceptable counterpoint because it balances out. No one knows who’s playing and just plays.

If you weren't relying on it then, why buff Hatch and Keys to their overpowered state then?

Again a viable option has now been made unviable. Nerfing keys/hatch has eliminated a strategy from the survivor handbook and has also eliminated another con for camping/tunneling the very first hooked survivor. How the game is played by either side is based on choice, each choice has a consequence. When you eliminate a choice you eliminate a consequence. Keys/hatch def have survivors another route of escape. Now that option is almost eliminated as viable escape from a camping/tunneling killer.

If you were relying on Hatch to escape, you just weren't that good of a Survivor

But we weren’t relying on hatch. We had at least one door queued up to escape and all 4 survivors in the game. Hatch was just an option bc we had a key. We could have very well took the door route too.

  • If a survivor was looping good, taking protective hits, doing gens and overall just a good teammate I might let them escape. Especially if the others were terrible.

If I’m doing terrible in a match due to survivor toxicity someone is going to die by any means. I’m talking they got 4-5 gens done and I haven’t hooked anyone bc of flashlights and hook blocking.

Also if I find you binding in a closet and everyone else is doing stuff you die. Especially if you wiggle immediately when grabbed. That means you did it intentionally and wasn’t just AFK.

Sure but to be balanced bring back old mori’s see how fun it is then

I play both sides so I wouldn’t care.

Old D strike was fine. It was easily countered by killer either slugging the injured unhooked survivor or completely ignoring them for 60 seconds. I have noticed since the nerf killers are quick to tunnel the unhooked survivor fast and in the first half of the match to get the ratio of survivors down to a 3v1. Survivors may complete 3 or 4 gens depending on their behavior during the face camp. The hooked survivor has to just hangout to allow the gens to get done w/o killer pressure. With old D strike this gave a group of survivors a chance at getting gens down to a 2 or 1 gens with a tunneling killer.

Old hatch/key we’re fine. In situations where killer tunnels first half of match and only 3-4 gens get done this gives the 3v1 or 2v1 a chance at an escape. Especially if the killer face camped or tunneled both killed survivors. Why should a killer who has applied 0 gen pressure get an increased odds of a 4K bc hatch doesn’t spawn in game? Why should a 2v1 team be forced to finish gens against a killer that could easily phase or transport between gens? If a killer gets the survivors down to a 2 v 1 with more than 1 gen left to pop to power exit gates it’s over for both survivors.

And the things above working correctly 100% depends on survivors being cooperative and altruistic. This almost never happens outside of a SWF of 4 maybe 3. Throw in more than 2 survivors not in a team and not doing gens, urban evasion-ing the whole map, not running BT, or any number of factors and killers going to wipe the board with the survivors eventually bc gens aren’t getting done and you literally cannot escape without gens getting done or random luck w open/hatch spawn.

  • @Pulsar said:

Let's not bring back widely unbalanced mechanics.

Based on the way D strike was used the new D strike would have still worked…it’s just the insta hatch opening with a Key. Keys are now more worthless than tool boxes with the hatch/key nerfs.

  • Usually I do not but it’s very annoying. I’d close my messages but I play other games in which messages need to be open.

Second, it’s the entitlement perception that your message to a stranger that you do not know should be met with a open arms instead of an EFF U SEA K off and getting mad. If you stay out of people’s inboxes you won’t get the message. I don’t randomly talk to people I do not know in real life without an invitation why are people so comfortable doing it online unsolicited?

  • I have seen this topic a many of times on the forum rarely do I feel the need to respond. I am an 80/20 survivor/killer. Survivors want to survive and killers want to kill, what happens between those two points is the game.

I have seen killers camp and tunnel despite BT and DS at gens 0-5. I have had killers do a slugfest and succeed due to no one running Unbreakable. The mechanics of the game plus the Community’s temperance for other gamers (killers towards survivors and survivors towards other survivors) is just toxic. I played all day half as killer half as survivor and as a killer I did do some camping and tunneling as necessary (scratch marks around hook, survivors doing flashlight saves poorly and staying near hooks, and just bad toxic survivor behavior as I’m not the best killer). Some games I played more aggressively and others I was more friendly even farmed when a survivor dc’d after being chased for my first hook.

My point is that the killing from killers is to be expected. What I don’t expect is for survivors to:

    1. Leave the last survivor who has been chased the whole match when all gens are done. Triggering the Endgame and people having hooks to spare is just gamenship. Especially when all 4 survivors are in good standing. (I have even 99% the door and waved to other survivors to help w the hook save running BT and cannot get survivors to help and they have a hook to spare).
    2. Leave when everyone has gotten only one hook and one survivor is on the hook. What is the rush here? Again triggering the Endgame super early for no reason.
    3. A survivor dies and then tells the last teammate where the other survivor is when they are being chased at the end of the game. Despite the hiding survivor saving both teammates multiple times and healing them off hook and doing gens. And leading the killer to the other survivors hiding spot. (This happened to me and my friend. Kid you not saved one of them from NOED and they snitched on me in the next match).
    4. Any survivor disconnecting from the match before the first hook is made hoses the whole team.
    5. Intentionally running BOND and running the killer to a gen that is almost done during a chase. I’ve seen this more times then I can count. Or running the killer to the areas where gens aren’t done.
    6. Hiding in closets well after BBQ&CHILI have went away.
    7. Urban Evasion around the map refuse to do gens or hook saves or heal. I’ve seen this more times then I can count.

You throw all of that from other survivors on top of a killer who wants to camp or tunnel and the whole game is just worthless. I can swallow a horrible killer (even a face camping Bubba) BUT survivors who ruin the game INTENTIONALLY for other survivors are way worse and there needs to be a way to report them.

I’ve said all of that to say a survivor can do gens while the killer face camps and tunnels but if the other 2 remaining survivors are throwing the game in anyway as stated above in 4-7 then “getting good” is NOT going to help that survivor to survive. As a killer I 100% understand that my taking down of all 4 survivors depends on at least 2 of them being absolutely hapless because a 4 SWF who are altruistic, have good map presence and awareness, plus communication means they are escaping or at the very least I’m not getting a 4K. Survivors are depending on other survivors doing what they need to do 100% of the time and killers are depending on themselves to do what they need to do to kill 100%. It’s easier depending on yourself then it is depending on 3 other people you can barely communicate.

  • @Shaped said:

Can we get some paragraphs in there?

Survivors are to blame for not punishing camping imo. They reward it and people will keep playing that way.

Also camping/tunneling is sometimes neccessary and it's not done to provoke others or something like that. I know it can be frustrating tho.

Camping/tunneling at 0-1 gens being done is not necessary. Camping /tunneling at 4-5 gens being done I can understand.

  • Self care can be a gift or curse depending on teammates play style & if killer is using sloppy butcher.

Its great to only have to depend on yourself to heal but if killer is applying a ton of gen pressure it’s nice to have a survivor back in the game ASAP. It all comes down to how they are using perk. Self care by itself is too slow imo need med kit or just have teammates to heal. I usually run medkits + addons and use resilience ( heal 99%)& prove thy self to get gems done fast. If killer comes my way just tap medkit to get extra hit/time to get away.

Selfish survivors always give match to killers. If you farm hooks, refuse to do gens, refuse to heal others, hide insanely and not join chases and give a hook no one will survive even a poorly playing killer.
