  • Especially with certain perks in play, the game isn't over once the exit gates have been opened, with too many "What if" scenarios such as a survivor is hooked when the endgame collapse starts. My best advice is to just not let other peoples behavior or actions in game get to you. They're only acting the way they do because they're on the other side of a screen

  • How to make any opinion you have, past, present, and future, completely obsolete in a single post

  • My biggest pet peeve in this game is survivor teammates who refuse to let you just go next.

Mainly when I go next I have a very valid reason for it. Someone DC'd within the first 5 seconds because it's their 500th Wesker in a row or it's a sweaty tryhard Blight / Nurse or some other reason and there's no point in commiting to the game, or it's a skull merchant (I will never give a skull merchant player an actual match of DBD, you can sit loading in lobby again). Not to say I haven't gone next for stupid reasons, just saying that most of the time it is a real reason to just want to go to the next game.

However, when I try to go next because the game is clearly already over, and it's abundantly clear I just wanna go next, and my teammate comes in and wastes my time because they feel the need to get their 1000 bloodpoints is very frustrating. At that point I just run to the killer to down me again. I'm not going to commit time to hiding in the corner for 10 minutes while I wait for my teammates to potentially die first so I can look for a hole in the ground.

  • From the point of view I have, it's because most people seem to think that they're absolutely perfect when playing the game, and that the reason they do bad is because of powerful perks, items, or add ons. Powerful perks, items, add ons, etc. do exist, and they can easily turn the tide of a match, however when someone is complaining about them you can usually point out many things they did wrong in a match, such as a recent one where a Wraith said they "Resorted to camping because Wraith has no chase potential" after bloodlusting 4 pallets and failing to get a hit on any of them, one of which was unsafe. All in all, people who complain about X perk usually are looking for a scapegoat to the fact that they didn't play perfectly.

  • I love the clauds that still hide like it’s 2018 DBD, or the players that assume the killer has absolutely no object perminance.

  • A big reason is copyright. Most characters simply can’t have skins added because they just aren’t allowed to in the first place.

  • They reworked perks such as sabotuer to prevent it from countering specific killers. Using that same logic, I don’t think they’ll add perks which counter a very niche and weak perk. Also, if you were to bring a perk that counters franklin’s, you’d most likely be doing it to make sure you keep your item because you’re worried about losing it completely. This would not help in that case, either, as you’d lose the item even if you escaped with it.

  • Unfortunately, a Nurse rework isn’t just as easy as pushing a button. If she were to be reworked, she’d need to be reworked in a way that is good for game health, good for balance, and has good counterplay, which is easier said than done. While the community can suggest fixes, it’s not the dev’s job to do exactly what the community says or wants in that moment, and will normally prioritize doing things they personally find more important. I’m sure Nurse is on their to-do list, though, and hopefully those who want her reworked get that sooner than later.

It's literally a joke I didn't even want to post this but I'm honestly so frustrated, I've had 4 rounds in the space of 2 hours that have just been like I described because they were against nurse...

Another reason why people DC against Nurse. I bet in those 2 hours of seeing Nurse 4 games you most likely haven’t played against a sinngle trapper, billy, hag, demo, etc. People are just tired of playing against the same killer. Your best bet is to just take a break from the game for now, calm down on some other game, and come back when you’re feeling better.

  • I believe the main reason is that it’d most likely take a full character rework to balance her. I personally believe she’s fine base, her add ons are just too powerful for an already powerful ability.

  • Most likely mentioned by other people, but two reasons: Adrenaline, and how it’s a game and not real life. It’s the same reason why after being downed and unhooked you’re injured instead of downed again. If you were to survive being hooked and someone saved you from said hook before you died, and you felt hope that you could still possibly survive the horror, your body would pump full of adrenaline, helping numb the pain and giving you a second wind.

  • Me and my friends decided to do a sandbag with friends type thing like how Otz did it with other DBD youtubers, but more casually. We all had a great time, thought I would make a joke post about it.

Edit: For context for people who don't seem to understand, I was a survivor, and it was our mission to sandbag each other as hard as possible while still escaping.

So you've had time to play both killer and survivor after the update? How does survivor feel compared to killer?

Yes, two days of an update lets you play lots of both killer and survivor if you want to play dbd! Survivor has felt harder and a little bit more tedius, though I haven't played much of survivor, so I'll get back to you once you stop being rude and actually want to contribute, and once I've had time to play more survivor.

  • @MommyHunktress said:

it is because a dropping pallets early wins games across all level so quit being rude. you know comp survs pre drop and play safe? did you know baby survs are just dumb and pre drop but if a killer breaks those pallets he loses, but if its starting to be less effective it will change games across all levels just less at lower levels

I played killer all day yesterday and plan to today to see if I can start getting paired against these better teams people keep talking about. I got 4k in all but 2 games yesterday and only one game did the survivors get all the generators done and I was still able to get 4k. I'm not the best killer and it already seemed quite boring before the update and now its just seeming insanely easy.

Thanks you two for actually trying to help and posting your thoughts instead of being rude for no reason. I'm having the same problem of killer games seeming easier, even when playing as lower tier killers. Since I can't check my MMR I have no clue what it is, but I've had a really high kill rate recently, and the survivors don't seem to be playing worse.

    Yeah I know.

I'm just saying have you got the timing down?

The timing hasn't been an issue for me. I use it to predict killer attacks instead of looking behind me and holding a neon sign that says I have dead hard. It's worked pretty well.

  • Press e to dodge a hit instead of for distance, be rewarded with more distance than old dead hard

  • @MrMori said:

Bloodlust 1 is the exact same but nice try.

Are you for real? That just makes me more worried that I'm really not playing better but being rewarded for doing things I shoudn't.

  • The fact that there's not a single smolface here makes me very disappointed.

  • Not what I meant. Obviously there is context to everything. The idea is that if you're doing something, don't get mad when the other side deals with it in a way you didn't want to.

In fact, your comment is exactly what this post is about. It's the fact that the lack of common sense and double standards exist. The reason I mentioned Nurse / Blight is because they are commonly played killers, and obviously, nobody would bat an eye if Clown used the exact same thing, since he pretty much needs it to have any kind of chance of winning against a good team. In fact, there's about a 90% chance had I mentioned Clown instead of Blight / Nurse you would've complained I'm an entitled survivor main.

  • A huge problem with this. As everyone has stated, it should bypass second chance perks, though assuming it didn't, there's no point for the killer to not just sit on the person for a minute. "I downed the last survivor but the game didn't end, so they must have DS / UB / whatever other alphabet of perks to save them". This would be a complete waste of time.

All my teammates had dh but they went lot sooner down than me so I did what I could but that distance was just needed in these mstches and agains't nurse or blight it's only good counter.

Once again, this doesn't make it necessary. If the problem is that there's killers so strong, the devs should try and fix that to make it fair for everyone. Not everyone wants to play Blight or Nurse every game, nor does every killer want to face 4 dead hards every match. If dead hard is the only counter to these killers, they shouldn't punish all other killers. They also shouldn't punish survivors for going against these killers either.

It is I played games without perks to get achiement and killer got 4K every single game but with dh I would extended most chases and at least survived few of those games.

This doesn't mean it's necessary. From your comment, it seems you believe that dead hard making the difference between winning and losing games makes it necessary, though all it seems to me is that you're not good enough to loop without it as a crutch. This doesn't mean it's necessary, it means you rely on it too much.

  • This one is rather weird, as on most killers it won’t do much since survivors don’t usually get off gens until they’re pushed off. And if someone is running to the hook, they’re not going to be trying to do the gen for the time it’s blocked. Overall I think it’s a good buff but still a little situational. Works really well as a combo perk though!

    I don't really care.

1 second is a miniscule difference and the odds of someone hitting every Great Skill Check to wiggle off 1 second faster is slim. I don't care if it gets reverted and I don't care if it comes to Live.

Boil Over on the other hand...

The entire point of the post was to talk about why they're buffing it, not why they're making it accessible. If you don't care then don't post on a topic. Just move on.

  • I think it's totally fair that they're making it more accessible. However, the point of making something more accessible does not mean you need to buff it. The point of this post was asking why they're buffing it. Making it more accessible is a different topic entirely.

Um, Hatch nerf. DS nerf. Object of Obsession nerf. All within the last year.

To be fair, it took them 3 years before they started doing those. The difference is that killers are constantly getting screwed over by updates and patches. Survivors rarely have to deal with that stuff.

  • Survivors need to be off the hook for a certain period of time without going down for you to get a stack. Even with BT, if a survivor goes down before that timer is up, you won't get the credit of a safe unhook.

  • Hey @jesterkind nice to see you roaming the forums again. I always love reading your responses because they're always so well thought out and put together really well.

  • Obvious troll post is obvious

  • Why didn't I ever think of this. I've been playing the game wrong. My gamer juices just flared up and I'm ready to play every killer, not just bubba, in the most optimal way possible.

  • We have taken into account that you would like to not be tunneled and camped. We did the numbers, gave it some thought, and we have come to our conclusion.

    No.

  • Makes sense. I haven't played on console since the release of Doc so I wouldn't know how hellish it can be.

  • I do believe that the game would be healthier without boons and possibly hexes, but they'd need to add another objective for survivors to persue as sometimes the only saving grace a killer has is that survivors will spend time booning a totem or looking for a hex instead of doing a gen. Making the only sole objective of survivor be doing gens would just make things like prove thyself and gen rushing more prevelant.

    GeneralV's Rework.

Could you explain or link it please?

  • Seriously? I always thought he would be the one killer on console that was easy to use. Is he hard because you can't control how fast you turn, or is he hard for another reason?

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2752985#Comment_2752985

Not really. All the old system would've done is hide it- you'd have the occasional game that's actually closer to your skill level where you'd get the frustration of a sweaty meta team, but then you'd also have a ton of games against relative newbies who run green level perks and don't look behind them, so you wouldn't realise how much you dislike any given meta perk/playstyle.

Circle of Healing (and a handful of other meta perks/addons/items/etc on both sides) are unbalanced completely separately from the MMR system. They don't become more balanced just because you're matched with newbies that don't use them, y'know?

(I'd also like to note that I don't think the meta is as dramatically awful as people make it out to be, but there are problem areas people are probably seeing more consistently now.)

Ah, okay, thanks for clearing everything up. I thought it was more the problem of how players used meta perks - a good team using circle of healing is much more of a threat than a bad team that uses circle of healing. Still, you are correct that perks and the MMR system have no corrolation other than higher MMR usually means more meta perks, not that they're stronger.

  • Trickster is probably the one "precision" killer you don't actually need to be precise with. Other than that, I agree that console should have more accessibilty to control.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2752981#Comment_2752981

Sure! I don't agree, though- the MMR system isn't working very well, I'm hardly going to argue that it's perfect and needs no notes, but games are undeniably more consistent for the majority of players than they were under the emblem system. The emblem system would have such a wild amount of variance that games were a complete diceroll- "rainbow ranks" was a big thing for a reason, after all.

What I think people are noticing is that they don't like the state of the game's meta, and because their games are actually more consistent now, they're noticing it more often. That is not a fault with MMR and positioning it as one actively works against fixing the problem that does exist.

If the case is that MMR is revealing the meta to be boring / unhealthy for the game, doesn't that just make Circle of Healing a byproduct of MMR giving people more meta based games, or am I reading into this wrong?

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2752969#Comment_2752969

I suppose I can't really progress further without actually addressing the assumptions hiding behind your arguments, can I? Alright, let's get stuck in, no sense dancing around it any longer.

Nothing you've mentioned so far has ruined or wrecked the game. Not even close. Circle of Healing is the closest- it is causing some pretty real damage to the game's health- but even that isn't game-killing, it's just deeply, deeply annoying and should really be fixed ASAP. What else have we got here? RPD is bad, but not game-ruining. Trickster may be disliked by a very vocal minority but a ton of people like him. MMR may not be very good but it's definitely better than the emblem system was.

The updates have good and bad, and some of the updates you listed were absolutely a net positive because the bad things in them are not ruining the game. They're just bad.

This post is very well put, but MMR I think is worse for game health than Circle of Healing, if you could quickly address that. Just my two cents.

    Bring back old Freddy.

I loved old Freddy, not because he was good, but because he was funny. There was nothing better than playing as Freddy and getting a 4k pre-rework because it showed how chad you were (Or how bad the survivors were, depending on how you look at it).

  • I think their reasoning was it was annoying. I'm pretty sure that's entirely it. Since it's BHVR they nerfed him and didn't give him any buffs to compensate so he's essentially a joke killer at this point. Probably will be for the forseeable future. BHVR is really good at making only bad decisions.

  • If it makes money, no matter how bad it is, they'll definitely look into it.

  • There's so many problems with this post.

Firstly, people don't want to have to bring in a specific perk to counter another perk.

Secondly, people don't want to have to be forced into a single playstyle to counter a single perk.

Thirdly, people don't want to have to play like an ######### to get solid results. People sometimes want to play killer in a way where everybody has fun, while the killer can still do well.

  • Unless the conditions are that you're being camped, which means that you can't really be saved anyways in the first place, if you're killing yourself on hook because you don't like a killer or didn't loop for as long as you wanted is just you being a bad sport. Rarely does killing yourself on hook have a logical explanation. The only time I find it acceptable is when someone is trying to get their teammates to leave at the endgame so that the killer doesn't get extra kills they don't deserve.

  • Note: I am not saying I’m a god killer and deserve to be getting at least a 3k per game or whatever. I’m in fact saying the opposite, I believe myself to be a very bad killer. I just wish I was pit against people more my level.

  • @SpineChillUnderlord said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/281028/please-nerf-keys

People are still going on about this? I'm not surprised.

Despite the key's current use, the point of the key is for second chances especially since 90% of the time the killer will almost always get to the hatch and close it unless an offering is brought to shift its location along with said survivor just blendetting most of the game before ditching their teammates. Let's be real now, I Don't doubt that this situation hasn't already happened.

I agree with players escaping through the hatch while there are still gens to do is unfair but hypothetically, it'd avoid Certain perks which could easily turn the game around for the killer or earn them that 4K. I.E: Noed, Blood Warden, No way out. (Since running all three perks would make it impossible to escape and would mostly rely on the killer playing either like complete garbage or killing all survivors before it procs, so, i mean, there's that.)

Let's also be real with the fact that most games in DBD don't really last for all gens to get completed for the hatch to spawn and if that was the case, again, the killer would look for it to ensure no escape since Exit-gates have a REALLY bad habit of spawning within less then 80 meters of each other, meaning the killer wouldn't have to look very hard for the survivor in question.

This just gives me 'Entilted' Killer vibes since so many people are making complaints about Keys because they missed out on a 4K. Honestly, if that's all the fuss is about, (Which i'm CONVINCED, it is.) i doubt the devs would think twice about changing it.

We found it boys, THE DBD forum user. "We can't nerf keys because something else is in the game"

Edit: Yes, while keys do help prevent things like noed, bloodwarden, etc. the hatch spawning at 5 gens only or 1 person remaining would still counter those things. The fact that you're saying killer mains are entitled for wanting keys to be nerfed after they've been a known problem in the community for years now shows that you not only have no clue what you're talking about, you're the entitled one.

  • Okay, thanks for the reply, I’ll play a bit more and see if that helps. At the very least, whoever is playing against me is probably having a great time stomping me out lol

  • I feel like you don't really get the point either. People DC for a reason. I don't think I've met anyone who hasn't had a valid reason to DC unless they've missed DS, which I do think isn't a valid reason. People will typically DC because they got tunneled, camped, or something (Like a hacker) comes up. I do agree, a DC that someone shouldn't have done is annoying, but how many times have you had someone DC for the reason "I wanted to because things were completely fair on both ends".
