I think that this is the most tonedeaf answer to the problem, because its ignoring and turning away from the underlying problem and reason why 1) killers slug and 2) its more effective then hooking.
Over time Killers options got fewer and fewer, eith many playstyles becoming obsolete and umviable. While the elimination of undesirable playstyles is a good thing on the surface level, it also leads to frustration and the feeling of loss and being forced down one specific way.
While I am not defending the full on slug build, the community is very fast with issuing nerfs, bans or basekit solutions for everything. But every basekit option dilutes the perk variety and cements the meta further.
I think that we should either sweeten the deal for killers or work a way out to incentivice then down the more desirable actions. Let's Make Hooking Great Again.
I agree hooking should be made great again. Perks like bbq, grim, pain, and pop have all been nerfed and even though not by much it sends a message overall that hooking is less desirable.

I think we are well past time for a base kit answer to slugging. It's pretty insane that this type of game play is tolerated.
Yeah it was not fun at all. I play more killer but as of late i been playing survivor since I neglected it for a while and realized its pretty fun. I understand slugging in some circumstance's such as it being power related ( Oni, myers etc ) but playing the game from the start as slugging is crazy.

I like this perk it’s a good soloQ perk which I would 100% run every time but the only problem is the aura is yellow so when others run it you can’t tell if it’s trails of torment or better together. Especially since they buffed trails of torment time to only have a 30 second cooldown it’s used a lot more making it confusing. Making the Gen blue would be an Ez way to sky rocket this perk usage rate.

The franchise I would like in the game the most would be Patrick Batman aka the American psycho. Unlikely to happen but never 0. Besides that slender man

My one concern with ideas like this is it limits player options and places the meta firmly in the hands of the devs to decide, and means BHVR having to maintain a list of meta/non meta perks and actively decide what to strong arm in and out of the meta, rahter than letting it be naturally defined by the community.
There are also issues of there being different metas across the world. What is meta in the US, isn't necessarily meta in Europe, isn't necessarily meta in Asia, etc, which makes the above problem even worse.
An example of elegant design is the exhaustion, broken, deep wounds, terror radius → killer instinct systems, where you have a mechanic that limits the ability to use all of these abilities together and prevent broken combos. This is how I think things SHOULD work, if we want survivors/killers to not stack perks, using status' and general mechanics like this is the way to go…
Yeah exhaustion status effect prevents multiple powerful perks from being stacked but that is hard to translate to aura and gen speeds . If the concern is artificial meta behavior always does this to get people to buy the chapters that's just how it is. Ultimate weapon was meta but know is butt, weave is meta rn but it will get nerfed soon, MFT was meta then gutted etc… That's why I was thinking of just making the 4th slot not have 2nd chance, gen progression/regression or aura. I don't think survivors will complain that killere are running something that isnt 4 gen or 4 aura and i dont think killers will be complaing that survivors dont have 4 2nd chance perks or gen progress perks. I'm not a game dev so this can easily be terrible but just wanted to let likeminded people hear this out and converse with them.

So each perk would get a sort of category or something, then you can't have more than 3 of a single category?
That seems to be a problem, when we then get perks that have multiple effects, like:
- Killer:
Agitation (Terror Radius + Carry Speed), Lightborn (Flashlight Counter + Haste), Iron Maiden (Faster Locker Opening + Victims Scream When Exiting a Locker).
- Victims:
Resilience (Increased speed in repair, sabo, heal, vault, etc.), Dramaturgy (Random effects), Calm Spirit (Don't spook crows, can't scream, cleanse totems silently).
This isn't even mentioning hex builds for Killers, and boon builds for Victims, how would Pentimento work with a limit of 3 hex perks?
Lastly, it would take a lot of choice, a lot of options, away from peoeple in what seems like an arbitrary decision to counter "meta"-builds, which is something that happens in every video game.
I think it should be left as is, this suggestion wouldn't be good.
No not categories i was thinking just not gen regression or aura for killers and 2nd chance or gen rush perks for survivor that's it. Doesn't have to be every aura , gen regression, gen rush or 2nd chance perks. Example can be mettle of man and human greed can be ran despite both being a 2nd chance/aura but they suck compared to others so no one uses it

Sometimes as killer I don't hear the Unhook notification due to being too focused on chase or thinking it was a penti totem or something (despite them having different noises). I find myself looking at the UI to see no one is hooked and go "when did they get unhooked?" so maybe that would do something. Of course a killer can still tunnel but will have to put some effort instead of the game alerting them with a loud noise notification

that just makes it more annoying to constantly check UI.
I think that's the point and it forces a killer to camp or look constantly back at hook if they want to tunnel. Tunneling still possible but it wont be handed out with a noise notification.

I would love to see The American psycho as a killer only chapter. I read the book and watched the movie years ago but people still mention the character so much that the option to have him in DBD isn't so far fetched. He isn't big enough to get a game on his own and if he did it would be very lacking since the concept wont translate well. Having Patrick batman chase me yelling would be sick.
