I feel you on this one. I have never been a fan of sbmm or mmr because of how stagnant it makes games and they become boring. I play 99% survivor, only ever play the killer when I fancy a change and haven't played killer since mmr was introduced so can't comment on the new killer experience.
As a survivor however I feel like the mmr needs another huge over haul. Not necessarily for killer VS survivor matchmaking, more so for survivor team matchmaking. I'm not an amazing player by any stretch of the imagination, I make some good plays every now and again but I play consistently well that I was regularly purple and red rank under the old system. My main complaint about mmr is the survivors I'm being matched with god awful and not a good match at all. I understand people have bad games so I'm not complaining about them having bad scores or whatever but level of survivors I'm being put with is sometimes embarrassing. It's almost like the mmr system is matching my ELO with survivors much lower than mine to attain a target ELO for the team rather than an average. I expect survivors I'm paired with at a decent level to be able to do a sodding generator once in a while and not farm me off the hook every 5 minutes or run head first at the killer because of a pure lack of observational awareness.
If the ELO ratings are being added together to form a team (which is the only way I can figure having such a variety or survivors ability in one game) then it need to be averaged in some way to make it fairer for all involved.

I'm currently at this crossroad now. I've been playing for 3 years on and off, 99% survivor. Only ever played a handful of killer games and always hated it. Killer gameplay has always been so boring for me.
To be honest the whole game is getting to me now and hasn't been fun for a long time. I dont think introducing SBMM/MMR will fix this game, I think they're prioritising the wrong problems. I've enjoyed playing just survivor side for almost 3 years now and I think I'm finally done. Too much of the original game has changed to a point where everything is out of balance now. Literally the core mechanic of the cops and robbers style gameplay here is looping and the last 3 or 4 killers have all been designed to stop you doing just that. What's the point? Not even in a creative way. You give us trickster and nemesis who will literally insta down you through pallets, the one thing that's supposed to save you? I dread playing games with certain killers and it makes me want to leave the game because they're just not fun to play against. You know when certain killers come for you there's just no escaping them and the fact that we are having MMR introduced to take out the randomness of matchmaking and only out me into sweaty lobbies against OP killers.. well now I want to subvert my own gameplay and play with less skill than I have so I don't accidentally rank up and face more of the same. I like playing to win but you're forcing me to play badly at the game to stand more of a chance of winning and have fun?
I also think the entire perk system is a mess. 100 different perks to use and only about 8 of them are actually worth anything or have any value? Both killers and survivors have this issue. Everyone on both sides runs the same handful of perks. The games aren't varied anymore, they're all sweat meta messes. And least at mid to high rank games where I usually sit. I've purposely not played and deranked on the monthly reset in the hopes it will give me easier killers to play against even with MMR being introduced again. Not so I can crush easy killers, so I actually stand a damn chance of escaping.
And for reference this is from a solo survivor gameplay experience.

Yeah I'm in your boat. I have almost 2k hours and the past few chapters have been massive disappointments. The amount of bugs introduced is just staggering and they take weeks to fix only for more bugs to come later.
Solo queue is hot garbage most of the time. For me it's a meme at this point. Tunneling and camping is pretty rampant but ultimately my deaths usually result from my team mates making incredibly dumb mistakes over and over.
As killer, my games are either a stomp of potatoes or a sweaty gen rush match. I do not enjoy either of these and there doesn't seem to be any games in between.
It will be like this all the time once MMR is fully introduced.
-
I uninstalled last night, wasted a good 4 hours of my life trying to play this game and every game was utter garbage. Either the killer DCs or the survivors DC or the killers play with the worst tactics imaginable forcing survivors to DC via tunneling and hook camping. Ill reinstall when I can be bothered to deal with this BS again.
-
His tentacle keeps downing me through dead hard. Perks totally useless against him. In fact the perk has become even more useless against every killer recently.
-
I rarely play this game, I like the game and I keep coming back to play but I'm a casual player. I play solo queue because none of my friends play this game and this new MMR is interesting to say the least. I've come up against killers with no thumbs and equally opposite, killers who don't seem to let me get a single gen done. However, the more I play, the more it's apparent that most of the red rank survivors I'm playing with definitely haven't earned their rank. Playing solo queue and having a good run of games outs me up against some damn near impossible killers, while matching me with thumb aucking mouth breathers for team mates. I'm not saying I'm perfect, I make plenty of mistakes in game but generally I'm red rank solo because I work for it with what little time I have. I dont know how I'm being matched with some of these useless players though, its really ruining my experience.
Also I've noticed since this MMR has gone up more often than not at entry red ranks, killers are really tunnelling and hook camping far more than usual and there's a lot less DS being used. It's getting really tiresome.

I basically made this same post from a survivor point of view.
So sick and tired of scummy killers that just tunnel, eat the ds and carry on tunnelling. Or those who face camp and just ruin peoples day. You can moan all you like about salty Swf but as a solo survivor I have zero people to rely on 99% of games so if the killer decides to bully me out of a game, then I'm screwed. Which has literally been every game I've loaded for the past week. I've dropped from a rank 3 and struggling to pip in purple ranks this week because play has been so awful.
-
Funniest title ive read this week.
Survivor is absolutely stressful a lot of the time at higher ranks. Solo queue is a disaster. You've got to worry about 3 trolls, not doing gens, hiding in lockers the whole game while you work your ass off to get gens done and try to avoid a killer who is likely to tunnel and camp the crap out of you leaving you hanging in the air for 3 minutes til games over.
-
When you kick him he should fly off into the distance like team rocket. YEET!
-
This is kinda the point I'm at now. If I come across a ######### game, be it bad teammates or a killer playing in a ######### way, the quicker its over the better. Im not gonna miss a pip ill get it back in the next game. Ive given up on even worrying about rank now too, just run whatever, who cares, have fun.
-
Agreed. The cooldown on victor needs to be a solid minute or two. Last survivor against exit gates is impossible. Victor missed, kicked his ass and he's back on me before I can get the door unlocked while the killer is at the other door. What a joke.
-
The killer being able to lock people in the basement on the new autohaven has ruined the new map for me personally. Looks alright though, im a fan of the upgraded visuals but that's a broken mechanic right there.
-
Well if I'd recorded the game I'd happily post it but I didnt. I dont come on here to moan for the fun of it you know. Im telling you what happened and what I saw. Whether you want to call it mathematically possible or not is down to you. I find it odd too that he scored so much from such a little game but it ######### happened. Theres no need to be a ######### about it.

You were obviously doing more than just camping the hook.
Majority of the scoring was probably from coop points. The survivors were a good team and worked well together. I dont know why you're trying to tell me what my own eyes saw was a lie 🤣
-
@TheButcher said:
A killer that camped all round wouldn't get 25k. It's impossible.
Well 90-95% of the game he was hanging around whoever was on hook. Its the only reason the rest got gens done so fast.
-
Haha just had a bubba score more points than the clown when he managed to chainsaw the 3 of us trying to get the 4th off hook. Game over in 3 mins and he got more points hahaha
-
You know its bad when the killer goes afk, everyone does the objective and escapes and you all derank for not having enough interaction with the killer. Had that many times before too.
-
Ive always been an advocate for keeping it on as the queue times were a lot better and it was nice to play against a different style of killer. Only when I'm on cross play do I feel like I'm significantly behind in terms of lag and latency. Being downed after being a good metre through a window is a common occurrence as is being slugged and outplayed by killers who seems to be able to mindgame and get round loops twice as quick as I do before I can make a pallet, and even when I do make the pallet I get downed every ######### time at the same time I get the stun. Ive gone back to just xbox players and its noticeably different to be back on the same platform. Not facing the same stupid meta builds every game, every twitch streamer and their mother, not getting downed through obstacles. Im much happier being out of crossplay. I dont mind the extra few minutes of queue time here and there for the colossal benefits.
-
Got tunnelled totally unnecessarily a few moments ago by a twitch streamer. Wont say which one but he purposely went for me every time I got off the hook and hooked me three times while only hooking any of the other 3 survivors once. Its not right off hook either, purposely found me out just to attack me. Im playing a low levelled Dwight so I didnt really have anything to counter it. Just a ######### attitude if youre gonna play like that, dont care who you are.
-
The survivor sides scoring system is actually pathetic when it rewards these disgusting rushed gameplays and farming each other off the hook over actually how the game is meant to be played. And we wonder why we have so many ######### survivors playing this game.
-
@CrowVortex said:
There's also a challenge to kill the obsession 10 times , so if you're the obsession you will be tunneled most likely from killer's who have that challenge, cause it's easier than the other option with Hag.
This is definitely what the bubba I just played against is doing. He's letting himself get pallet stunned to switch obsessions then killing that person.
-
Make that another tunnel. ######### this game today seriously.

We're talking about a penalty not bans. no banning someone for a set time is not the solution but to have an in game consequence for doing it would be nice.
I never mentioned a ban my guy. Sometimes this ######### just happens, like sometimes people run annoying perks and like when killers tunnel and face camp. This game gives you a lot of annoying crap to deal with.
-
not just you my dude. Been playing for 2 hours now and been tunnelled every game except one. Killers are really making me depip today. Not that rank means anything in this game.
-
This was probably a SWF. Nothing in the world is going to change people from doing this. I am currently a rank 3 but play with brown and green ranks when I offer to help newer members of the community learn to play.
-
I hate the rank system in this game. The fact I've lost several pips in my game career because of this is frustrating as hell. I know when this happens to try and farm max points but some lesser knowledgeable survivors just open the gates and run and leave you no time to make up the rest of the points.
-
DC punishments are not needed when you can literally suicide on hook instead of quitting the game. The game offers people having a bad game an easy way out and if someone raging is going to be given a time out chances are half of these players will be turning the game off anyway. A 5 minute penalty isn't going to bother them if theyre signing off for the rest of the day.
-
I think the only real change they should make to huntress is the iri heads. Instead if instant down, maybe make it a bit more like deep wound whereby it instantly takes you to injured state and you have 20 seconds to heal it before you go down. Ive never seen an iri huntress game last more than about 5 minutes its too OP.
Or option number 2, make the iri heads instant down but you have to charge the throw for longer before it activates. Making the situations where people use them a little less frequent. If you gotta hold it for a good 3-5 seconds to charge the one shot attack it gives players a few seconds to make a decision and if thwyre still in the open after that then theyre screwed.
-
The problem is there will always be games where the opposite side use tactics you weren't expecting. I would say the majority of players like myself play solo queue and to us survivors getting gens done isnt always possible. Ive seen very efficient and over powered killers stop us from even doing one gen. As ive seen teams work well together eho can keep the killer focused and we get away without one hook. These are both extreme ends of the scale and they will happen but the majority of games I play, I die and don't it make it ouf the trial but if I've done enough to help the team I still pip. Thats the sort of average game I see more often than not. Playing a full swf is the hardest part for any killer but if you bring the right perks you'll give them hell.
-
I have no idea, I raged outta there and didn't even look.

There's literally tons of people saying how bad he is and he needs buffs lol. He's not strong, just that people aren't use too countering him. His power is literally useless if you turn left or right before he Lethal Rushes you and he'll miss if you turn at the right time. He's Billy but worse because he can't get past windows and pallets. If Compound 33 was basekit without the hinderd part of it and could have a turn similar too Oni's he would be much better, but atm he's not good.
Literally had a player right-angle him through a shack door and floor me before he was on my screen properly about an hour ago. Theres clearly something amiss.
-
Blights have been stomping all the lobbies im in this evening with no trouble at all. If anything hes too fast, gets right up your ass in milliseconds and you can't get away from him. Dont know what youre doing wrong lol but apparently most of the community aren't having any trouble using him.
I'm getting ready to uninstall, hes pissing me right off.
-
I had noticed this happen a few times tonight to people who got downed very quickly after using DS.
-

I agree that its boring seeing it every game. Before cross play I maybe encountered it 2 or 3 times a month. Now its almost every game.
And all these arguments come back to gen speeds but gen speeds aren't the problem. A solo queue team struggles with gen speeds a lot of the time but a well greased swf doesn't. Thats not a bad design flaw as such, its an overly big skill gap between highly skilled communicating players and solo queue users who likely haven't brought any items to trial and have no idea about each others playstyles.
-
I had this issue a couple weeks back. Op killer add ons, poor game connections and game breaking bugs have lost me my rank 4 solo survivor rank all the way down to 7 and I'm struggling here to make many more pips back. The game is easier now im just starting to get easy killers again though so its more forgiving now ive dropped a fair bit. I can put up with game breaking crap if the killers aren't constantly up my ass.
-
I agree partially. The wait times on console are longer now than they have ever been when you disable crossplay. With crossplay on theyre nothing, in a game in 2 minutes or less sometimes. But! I do agree that you can see the difference between the two types of games. Since crossplay has been activated I have come across a lot of connection issues I never had when playing xbox only. Lag switchers stopping me from getting teammates off hook is a sore subject at the moment. The framerrate drops are a real pain in the ass, hadnt noticed in on certain levels but I do find quite often when I'm being hit by killer, I get a drop in frames or a lag of some sort that effectively ruins my escape dash after being hit because during the lag I've walked into a tree or got stuck in a doorway. By the time you realise qhats going on or tried to correct yourself youve been downed. Its frustrating but I've stuck to crossplay because its not every game.
Only real negative effect this game has had on my account since crossplay is consistency in matches which has caused my rank (and I'm a solo queue player 99.9% of the time) to drop from average of 4 on survivor to 7 because of the inconsistency in games.
-
I think its genuinely an exciting idea. Nothing worse than getting a bullcrap first hook due to being dedicated through a window and thinking whats the point? Also I think there should be a bonus set of points for people being face camped to try to avoid those early suicides. At least the people on hook are getting something for their trouble and buying some time for their team to do gens.
-
I can't believe so far nobody has mentioned JRM. He's my favourite dbd youtuber at the moment closely followed by ayrun, and fungoose (another ive not seen mentioned.)
If you want educational content fungoose is where its at. His educational videos he literally predicts gameplay, players actions (on both sides) and timers impressively down to within seconds. I havent seen anyone so knowledgable about the game personally.
JRM and Ayrun are pure entertainment. The stuff they get upto is hilarious.
Also almost forgot: if you want toxic gameplay for fun and skill, a really good guy called SwehGamerHD I think he's called. Very talented.

No, was a different one then. I guess not every killer is always meanminded.
I Never am, im a terrible killer and always let people go lol. I play the killer for a bit of fun and trolling normally. Explains why after 8 months of playing ive never got further than rank 17 as killer haha

Thank god is there, if the killer tryhard (iri hatchets, ebony, hard tunneling) im not interested in playing
This sums up my experience usually. Watching my whole team go down within seconds to iri hatchets is cause for alarm. Id rather just lose the pip and jump into my next game. Its gonna happen so why wait. Get it over with.
I personally as a survivor hate it more than anything when a teammate suicides off hook but I understand.. I do it when I'm pissed, or I've had to endure a bullcrap connection. The only times I ever suicide on hook is as someone put it earlier from the devs. When hope is lost. Iri hatchets, suicide. Crap connection, suicide. Teammates without thumbs going down left and right? Suicide. What's the point of waiting for the inevitable? Go down get hooked and get out.
My paragraph makes it sound like it happens often but in reality its usually only once in a while. Sometimes things are just ######### and you need to bounce.
-
for pc users it will be a simple fix and roll it out. Could have been fixed already but for playstation and xbox users they have to pay fees everytime they roll out updates and patches so its usually rolled into one giant patch every now and again versus lots of smaller ones.

I'm a survivor main and I get sick of the bull that killers get away with sometimes as I'm sure there are killers who feel the same way about survivors too.. being killer for me is kill and chill. It makes a change to be nicer to the lower ranks. Feels like I'm helping them enjoy the game a bit more. Right now survivor is stressing me the f out at purple and red ranks.
-
This is every game for me with Windows on xbox. I can't loop for ######### anyway but when I'm constantly being hit 10 feet after a window jump im ready to give up.
-
I think Moris should be reworked with regards to how many gens have been completed. Being able to mori almost instantly is a tad unfair in game terms, but for every gen past 4 a survivor could be mori'd down to the last one for red mori. Green is 2 survivors and yellow is 1. Of course in correlations with how many gens have been completed..? Just a thought.

This. And this again. Ive come up against this a lot lately and it usually ends in games being over in about 4 minutes flat. Im aure the killer doesn't even get enough points to pip surely from a game that short.
