I played like 5 games today and I’m already bored as a survivor. I’m glad they added Alan but his perks are not interesting and most of the changes were focused on killers. It would have been nice to have a few more survivor perk changes + the tome today.
And finding out the new mode doesn’t start yet and only lasts a week is super disappointing.
yeah, not much reason to play today unfortunately, which is devastating as we LITERALLY just had a content patch today

How can the devs think this new menu was a good idea when the feedback was so negative???
according to peanits, they pushed it out anyways regardless of feedback because of the new lights out event needing space :/

I mean, it is obvious that people are doing that with Full Slowdown-Builds. Because going full Slowdown was always the easiest way to play, since you can prolong a game to the point where Ressources are gone and without Ressources, the Survivor can be as good as they want, they will go down pretty quickly.
i really don't think the passive aggressive comment was necessary for my lighthearted and joking post. but thanks anyways.

i was looking forward to using just grim embrace as slowdown as it's strong and looks super fun and good to use on billy with lethal/bbq but (as an empath 😇), seeing what people are doing with these full slowdown builds, i will also carry a pitchfork and hope this stuff gets addressed.

I still want the maximum FoV to be 110.
103 horizontal FoV works for accessibility, but it still feels really bad being stuck at 103 horizontal FoV, when pretty much every other game with an FoV slider goes way way higher than that. BHVR can make the FoV slider an accessibility AND quality of life feature.
Survivors got an entire survivor HUD, a visual terror radius, anti-face camping stuff, and anti-3 gen stuff. So much thought, effort, and caring went into these features. Can we please have the one feature created for killers actually feel good, instead of it being the worst FoV range that I've ever seen in an FoV slider?
i agree with you but i don't really like the "survivors got this!" narrative tbh. bumping fov to 110 is something i can agree with though. i honestly have no clue why they're so hard pressed to keep such an awkward number like 103. no need to make it a survivors vs killers narrative, just give killer players better accessibility! its been so many goddamn years and we get just the bare minimum... like, nah. good that fov slider exists, bad it's so bare minimum.

I feel like it's a very reasonable ask to de-couple playing anonymously from removing licensed music.
They're two completely different things!
Having a setting to remove licensed music with the upcoming Iron Maiden and Slipknot collabs makes sense!
However, there's a lot of players who harass each other in this game, that's no secret, and a lot of people don't use Anonymous Mode as a Streamer Mode but rather as a way to stay safe online.
Players who are simply trying to play an online game safely and in peace shouldn't be punished for that by not being allowed to listen to licensed music.
yeah this feels like a must. idk why they did this to begin with. lots of strange things this patch and it makes me wonder if they truly understand their playerbase or what anonymous mode is for at all

I think there was enough space for one more line. But if not, i think "Getting Started" could be replaced instead, because it is button that everyone clicks once in a lifetime at best.
At very least make "Play survivor" and "Play killer" separate please.
yeah there were truly so many alternatives. moving the ui to the right side (temporarily until lights out leaves the game) to make more room, moving stuff like shop to the bottom of the screen to make room, making shop have a dropdown with other things instead of the survivor/killer dropdown to make more room, it feels they didn't think this one through much and ignored our feedback during the WHOLE PTB and are only just now considering it. major yikes, imo, and i'm doubling down on my original post that this is very disappointing.

Lights Out seems cool, but it cannot replace the Lunar New Year Event. It was so much fun interacting with envelopes. I loved getting red toolboxes and firecrackers. :( Now characters like Gabriel or Nicolas will never get those....
Not to mention, we are not getting any male lunar cosmetics?? Like don't get me wrong, the Yun-Jin and Kate Lunar cosmetics look absolutely stunning, I love them so much. But no new Lunar cosmetics for male survivors??? And no new Lunar cosmetics for killers???
Why, BHVR, why?
yeah, this whole february looks like a bust. i don't think anything's motivating me to play other than hillbilly changes and those aren't good enough imo cause i don't want to play hillbilly 24/7. sad month ahead of us

Hey folks. To shed some light on this (no pun intended), we needed to make this change to support the new modifiers feature and the first modifier, Lights Out. Modifiers are optional and run in addition to the regular mode rather than changing normal matches, so they need their own buttons to queue up as a Killer or Survivor. There sadly would not have been enough room on the main menu to squeeze two more buttons in, so this was a necessary change to support the feature.
That said, we have noted the feedback about requiring additional steps before you can play and will pass it on to the team.
interesting but why is it here way before lights out is even started?? now we're going to have it for a week and not even have the game mode for it so we're playing through an inferior UI for no reason. come on.
also, it would've been 10x smarter to put rift/shop in the dropdown menu rather than the play mode, you'd also have more space and not inconvenience players.

it seems they really hate having more players. i cannot understand the reasoning to having lights out gamemode in the lunar new year event slot. they better have something amazing planned after lights out ends or people will go back to being bored again.
-
i'm genuinely surprised it went through to live, i saw no positive feedback about it on ptb. kinda a shame really

Yeah, I'm getting there too.
Which sucks, because i'm over 3k hours now and don't actually want to put the game down, but it might be for the best if the experience keeps getting worse.
I'm not good at killer, I play it very memey/casually, (I kinda have to I feel, I literally use 1 perk slot for shadowborn so I by default have less choices for fun or variety on killer) it seems right now is a peak for killer, even slightly, strength wise. It will at least be, when mft is nerfed. I don't really want to switch to maining killer though, unfortunately, it doesn't feel fun for me now and I doubt it will feel good for me even with mft nerfs, because I lose even against non mft squads because I am not good at killer. Which means i'll have to take a losing streak learning and becoming better at killer which will feel very demoralizing especially since I'm already not having fun with the game. It's a very, very vicious cycle.
Solo survivor also feels so awful. Even when I play duo queue I feel so bad for asking my friend to play because we get such unfun matches, both from teammates being silly and killers playing hardball. This is definitely a low for me, in dbd. The fun matches are few and far between, my latest fun memory was we got this cute farming xenomorph ... that was... a week ago? Little less? Damn. Might just do my dailies for today, since it's the last day of Halloween event, then cryogenically freeze myself hoping for a patch that helps survivor feel less... painful. I will not touch that trickster buff ptb with an 18000 foot pole.

how about buffing killers chase ability so they can pressure gens and down survivors better instead? making gen speeds obnoxiously slow is a band-aid fix that doesn't address the actual issue and just makes survivor gameplay even more of an m1 simulator, which is horrible for game health. the only person your suggestion benefits is a killer player who solely cares about winning. the game will not be more fun to anyone else except that kind of person if this happens (it won't, i'm pretty sure even BHVR realizes your suggestion is overkill, but we're playing devil's advocate here, I guess). making the game more stale is like, the last thing anyone wants or needs right now. we're all just clamoring for the new teaser and hope the gameplay it brings will make matches fun.
