Are we really using the killrate argument again? If we want to look at how balanced the game actually is I’d say we should look at the top level of play no? You know where both sides actually know how to play? Well it doesn’t get much higher than comp dbd. In comp the survivors are heavily restricted, and they also usually play on maps which are more balanced.
Even with these heavy restrictions they literally base the scoring based off hook states instead of kills lmao. The killer almost always attempts to tunnel one out asap and even then usually end up with a handful of hook states and with one or maybe two kills by the end of the game. That’s WITH heavy perk restrictions on the survivors.
At this point saying, “oh but the killrate though” is just disingenuous.
Comp DBD is a joke and nothing that happens in comp is relevant to game balance.

It's probably a combination of many different factors that all play into each other.
#1 Time: After a PTB, it takes a while to analyze all of the data that comes in. Player feedback doesn't get posted immediately, some people wait a few days. Any potential changes have to be discussed with the team internally and agreed upon, then coded, then tested, etc. Then they'd have to prepare another PTB and go through the same process. They would have to schedule PTBs much earlier to allot for this additional time.
#2 Interest: A lot of people are excited to try out new ######### on the PTB but it's like one big initial burst on the first day, then it wanes a lot. There aren't a lot of people who play the PTB on the second day. The amount of people who would play a second PTB with only minor tweaks is very small because the initial excitement is gone.
#3 Quality: There's no matchmaking on the PTB, there aren't any rewards, people just screw around to test out mechanics and DC frequently with no penalty. PTB games on the whole aren't comparable to live games where people sweat as if there's money on the line. A lot of the serious gameplay problems don't emerge until a patch goes live and people try it out for real.

”We’ll likely address at that time” sounds ominous. My guess is solo queue has a pretty low survival rate, probably under 30% if my games are any clue.
I don't think it's going to be that low. When I tracked my escape rate over around 1000 games last year, I had a 57% escape rate in solo queue.
-
I was above the softcap before, I am still above the new softcap. Haven't noticed any change. I still mostly get solo queue teams that just flop over and die at the slightest pressure, sprinkled in with a few teams that actually know what they're doing. I wish they'd raise the softcap again, games are still too boring.
-
I have noticed this, ever since they implemented the MMR changes a few months ago. Even during peak times, you see familiar names all the time. If you play during odd hours on smaller regions, you are probably going to face the same players a lot because of the improved matchmaking giving you better matches

I am asking because I often take very long breaks from this game and things change along the way.
Considering some people got angry over it like I bm'ed (tbagged), I felt like asking the community how they see it in scenarios such as mine, when it is used like once and not excessively.
Anything is toxic if you intend it to be toxic. Just nodding in itself is a gesture that can mean many things. Whether or not it's toxic depends entirely on the context.
-
How are you getting DC penalties longer than 15 minutes? They go down a tier every day. If you're ragequitting, stop doing that. If you're crashing/have unstable internet, you should really figure out a solution before ruining so many games by leaving in the middle.
The DC penalty system is working as intended. If you frequently leave games, you shouldn't be playing multiplayer games.
-
I've seen a lot of very confusing and/or misleading math being posted here, so I thought I'd chime in. At a 60% kill rate, the lowest possible win rate (3k or 4k) is 20%. The highest possible win rate is 80%. The average win rate would be 50%.

Hatch is not counted for MMR, but I do think its influence is still considered when talking about kill rates. I wager Nightlight at least does not consider whether an escape was a hatch or not.
Nightlight counts hatches as escapes. If you specify that you gave a survivor hatch, it counts as a kill.
-
According to my stats, dead hard is the 7th most used survivor perk in my games at 17%. I think it's in a good spot right now.

I play pinhead alot but never noticed a bug what does it look like?
Basically when you place the gateway, the transition to viewing the camera has a very annoying dolly zoom effect. This used to be just a tiny, negligible bump but they broke it around the anniversary and introduced a very noticeable, awful effect (it was never mentioned in any patch notes and has never been acknowledged). On the PTB with the fov slider, it's gotten even worse because the gateway camera has a different FOV to the player.
Old/normal version (over 6 months ago):
Watch "pinhead camera zoom old" on Streamable.Current version on live:
Watch "pinhead camera zoom live" on Streamable.PTB version with fov slider at max:

I enjoy raising my mmr on killer because it gives me better opponents and I can learn how to improve. Games where I just kill everyone at 4 or 5 gens are really boring and there's nothing I can learn from it. If there was an option to queue against swfs only, I would do it.

Normally Billy's tend to chase a lot. Really good billys love to curve objects. I feel like there are a lot of great chases with good Billy players.
Btu that's my experience against yours.
In my experience, people saying they have great chases with Billy is because Billy is so bad that it makes them feel like they're good at looping.
-
Inside of Billy, there are two wolves.
One wolf is extremely easy to loop and playing against him is like playing against an AFK killer for 3 out of 4 survivors. He helicopters around a small wall for five minutes and then all gens are done before he gets a single hook.
The other wolf has a chainsaw and if he ever catches you out in the open, you're just dead. He proxy camps hooks with no counterplay possible.
There is no middle ground where you have a fun and engaging chase, you're either bored out of your mind or you get caught out and instadowned.
-
No, playing against Billy is the most boring game of DBD you can play right now.

I'm glad you enjoyed this and found it useful. It's something that I will be continuing to do with the Designers for mid chapters specifically - I've shared your feedback with them. It's actually a very nerve wracking thing to put people through so it's been great to give them some positive feedback.
Hens putting it on youtube has been excellent and we're definitely looking to be able to do something like that ourselves for the next one - I do think having that direct contact is important and things like that we're looking to do more of and utilising the platforms where our players congregate the most. The Discord has been wonderful in supporting us doing these, so shout out to them for moderating it so well.
Glad to see you're open to broadcasting this on different avenues. I tried watching it live myself but your Discord requires me to give a phone number to Discord to even watch it, so I couldn't. I ended up watching it on Hens' stream but it would be nice to have a restream of it on Twitch or YouTube or somewhere else that is easily accessible. I don't care about asking questions, I'd just like to be able to see it.

Yeah, but p100 doesn't have to be grinded for, the rewards can be for whenever, you could decide to take it slow instead. Like I don't have a p100, but I have all characters p3 at least and have Yui and huntress almost p30. But no rewards for having a prestige higher than p6, which I feel like is odd considering their fomo thing and it would incentivize more people to play to earn something. But thats just me, but I like earnables and free things
Yes, it's that way right now because there is no major p100 reward. People who want to take a character to p100 do it because they want to do it, not because they feel like they have in order to obtain something cool. Imagine if they made a kickass cosmetic for p100 or a custom emote. Anyone who isn't p100 would feel like they're missing out on something (FOMO) and try to reach p100 to obtain that, rather than just doing it for fun or for pride.

It's crazy cause they don't wanna add prestige 100 rewards because of fomo but then do this...
Yes, grinding to p100 for a reward is a soul sucking experience and will destroy most people's enjoyment of the game. You do not want to incentivize people to do that more than they already are. The moment you introduce a really cool p100 reward, people will burn out trying to get it.
Spending money in the store is instant :)
-
That's how BHVR makes money. It's a marketing tactic called FOMO.
-
Only 2 survivors on the map started with the trap on their heads, the Steve and the Maria. Myself and the Nea did not start with traps.
This is normal when you use both iri addons. One of them makes survivors spawn with traps, the other reduces the total amount of traps from 4 to 2. When you use both, only 2 people spawn with traps on.

Can you tell me what the bug with ultimate weapon was?
People in lockers screamed.

+1
The dolly zoom is incredibly annoying. Pinhead camera transition used to be really good and smooth a couple of months ago.
-
I had that happen once in a game but then the game server crashed and the match ended.
Edit: here's a clip I recorded https://youtu.be/rbW06g0J_kA
-
Is there any update on this from BHVR? This bug has been in the game since the release of Alien, almost a month ago, and it's making Pinhead borderline unplayable against good survivors.
-
I like playing sweaty because it's a game where you play against other people to win. I don't know any of the people I play against and don't have a way of communicating with them in 90% of cases. I don't queue up to "hang out" with them, I queue up because I want to play the game and I expect both sides to actually try their best to win.
