  • Yeah I mean I heard they patched out something of this nature. Not sure if it's true but I've seen less spine chill as a gf main so that's worth something ig.

  • Pfft, I'm just bored. I mean I've been playing some other games in addition to DbD lately, so I'm working on not playing just the one game, but when I am stuck on DbD I sort of just learn to appreciate that #########. The game is sort of just uniquely janky and I'll always know it's DbD in that way. Even when I play survivor, which isn't as often as killer bc gens are kinda boring but still often enough bc of achieves and whatnot, I still just enjoy being in the game. I feel like I'm in just the right amount of control. I've got all this experience to fall back on, making it feel super familiar, but then I also have to actively think about how to respond to the uncontrollable elements of the game - the chaos. But above all else, I just sort of have fun with it when I can. It's like having a home. You can live there for as many hours as you like, and you'll never be an effortless god. There's always new funny ######### to be seen.

  • Honestly imo Spies does everything whispers does but better and then some. Absolutely love that perk.

  • If you don't learn to love the dumb #########, even when it pisses you off, you won't ever really love this game. You can't take it seriously, you'll only hurt yourself that way.

Yes! I loved it! Also, I got 50k yesterday + 50k today. Did you too?

It's for the anniversary and we'll get it everyday through the 26th

  • I'm more bothered by pee head's only skin being a set. I asked around and no dev seems to really know why this is the case. I was planning to buy it on Tuesday, but now I see no reason to.

Great! I maxed my BPs for the new chapter. LUCKY GAMBLER UH?

Also, I only got 50k, whats goin on here?

😍Making changes here as killers. Nobody is happy with the current state of Lisa (because she isn't even done properly), so... I mean, it would be a total shame if we all together brought up mories against people who play as Lisa or simply camped them as Bubbas to make devs listen to us.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SBC745CK1PCI/image.png

    Just saying.

Ok but have you considered: 4man Lisas

  • Again, only a couple. Some Ash ones and I guess the first and third rift if you wanna count those.

  • Recently hit 1K hours, not including mobile and switch. I think I'm a good killer overall, but I certainly do better with the ones I prefer. Kind of wish matchmaking could account for how bad my demo or oni or slinger or billy are. As a survivor I can loop the killer if I want but I don't find that fun, and I just generally don't enjoy survivor (unless I can play with friends). I usually run pebble and left behind, if that tells you anything (and IW cause I'm an Ash main). I think I hit the survivor skill ceiling pretty early, even in spite of being a killer main. If I wanted to 4K at any given time bad enough chances are I could against most lobbies as GF or one of my other mains.

I think the bigger issue here is broken gen spawns, not general saltiness of online gamers.

Honestly the gen spawns are fine, you just need somebody to keep him away from whatever gen the other 3 are pressuring. Doesn't hurt to try and plan out which gen you're doing, either.

  • @Riku_Odayaka said:

Yeah... I can't see myself using any of the perks.

Forced Penance isn't really helpful as a survivor who takes a protection his is bound to either get away or have Dead Hard and get chased. In either scenario, they wouldn't have the opportunity to heal.

Deathbound would be helpful if the killer is able to travel quickly and quietly (like hag teleporting with rusty shackles), but there's better perks if you'd want to apply the Oblivious effect anyways. Some killers even had add-ons that everyone has piling up from not using. And hey, if the person you get stuck with has Prove Thyself, that's more incentive to work on gens together.

Then there's Trail of Torment. You give your position away immediately and give survivors a pinpoint on what direction you are proportional to them in exchange for 15 seconds to approach. While it can be useful with the right strategy, Dark Devotion is even more helpful as the transferred terror radius can mislead survivors while letting one catch them off guard.

There's better perks to use. None of these are really game changing. Though, I guess maybe the devs don't want to lock useful perks behind a paywall? Shrine does take a while to cycle good perks.

The paywall itself needs attention as it currently stands. It's too intimidating for new players, and it only ever increases. How can the mobile version of a game have LESS of a paywall than the main one. That's saying something, don't you think?

Anyway, if people want a particular perk with the current system 5 bucks for a bundle of 3 perks aint too shabby. Sucks, considering just how many there, though. I've only been playing DbD actively since Halloween last year and I've already collectively spent some 135-140 dollars on the game. If I had to guess, about 115 of that is PC game and DLC, with maybe 15 or 20 of that being dumb ######### like Ash cosmetics.

Hope they fix the grind and paywall pr.oblems soonm

You cannot possibly compare Ebony Mori with ANY of the survivor perks, items or addons.

First of all Ebony Mori is an OFFERING and it prematurely removes survivors from the game usually resulting in a sure win for the killer. I don't recall any survivor offerings that basically win you the game just by playing it.

As for the survivor's perks and item addons, ofcourse there are some that have some sort of impact if used properly but they actually require some skill/experience in using them; Mori requires no skill at all to use: You just equip it and you can kill any survivor if opportunity presents itself.

You must not know about Haddonfield map offerings, then.

  • No kiddin'. I mean a lot of the ones prior to the ST chapter were a bit lacking in blood, but ever since then it has been especially lame. Personally, I feel like no part of Ash should have been visible, and he should've just been caked head to toe in the red stuff, and honestly ghostface's is kinda lame too, but god, Zarina is just the worst yet. Even Slinger's was better. I know they're adding new incentives and rewards for prestiging, but the current ones have been really lacking as of late.

As a Zarina tertiary, I am upset.

They’re niche, but not useless. MoM is pretty easy to proc now with the myriad of ways hits register as protection hits.

Mettle is easily his worst though. It barely rewards you for what it takes to get it off, and then on top of that it even punishes you for doing so. Compare it to ######### like inner strength, DS, or instaheals. All super easy ways to get a free health state with next to no support or effort.

Then look at Mettle of Man. You have to run a whole-ash supporting build and play entirely around trying to get it to proc, let alone getting use out of it. Sure, protection hits are easier to get nowadays, but that doesn't make them easy to get. You have to do nothing but bodyguard for at the very least half of the match just for a single health state to not be lost. And then, after that, the killer sees your aura 24/7. On top of even that, they'll probably think you have object, which might get you a nice ticket to the facecamp theater. Doesn't help that it's an obsession perk, either.

And that was supposed to be his good perk! Flip flop somehow ended up being his best and even that is super situational. It's a great anti slug, and it almost makes up for how lame boil over is, but even then I think it could get a slight buff.

Buckle up is sort of fun. I think it should get buffed to act as a sort of breakout for downed teammates, or something else to make it more dynamic. The aura reading is sort of hard to gauge sometimes, so I feel like a recovery bar below the name of a downed survivor on the HUD might not be a bad idea.

I won't be so mad about this if we get Army of Darkness Ash as a legendary skin or just a regular set of cosmetics.

I would probably forgive it if we got AoD Ash with new voicelines.

And I would forget it completely if we got an Evil Dead map or killer at long last.

  • It's always possible. Comes out pretty dang soon, so I guess we'll find out. The oblivious thing was more likely an error in the narrator's script, so I doubt that's evident of anything to do with in-game changes.

If it's anything like the IGN gameplay, it might be a funky build, too. Seeing as how it's a licensed chapter, it's totally possible they had to make this a while ago to make sure it would get the OK from Konami in time for release.

I sure hope that change was made, though. It's pretty easy to dodge so far.

Coding and Programming is a Career Path.

    I don't understand why...like....

    1. You can't add blood to clothes why? It's just pasting the same paint splatter on your current cosmetics. You're just pasting it on the current ones, literally just wearing a cosmetic on top of a cosmetic.
    2. 2 vs 8 game mode? 2 vs 10 game mode on KYF? Why? This isn't hard...like, what?
    3. Adding more gens on KYF, adjusting the gens or the totems, or how many survivors or killer on KYF, what?
    4. Why can't you start a KYF alone? Killer or survivor, I don't understand.

So many more to think about but I'm really tired.

Not very code centric problems so much as design. They aren't a AAA studio, afterall. Yes, they do have a notable budget and team size, but it is divided up in weird ways and some people have very specific jobs.

Increasing gens in KYF would be very complicated and limited. Every single map in the game (which is a lot) would have to be redesigned for every single generator count increase or decrease, and then tested with several different genspawn variations. Yeah, the code is going to be a problem there, but mainly the design is what's in the way.

I do think having bots to play offline in kyf would be nice, or even just being able to mess around alone to test perks or something, maybe with AI controls ala a fighting game training mode. We've seen AI done pretty damn well with mobile. I'd love to see them at least try.

I do think having bigger matches might be fun for a brief event, but really can't be worked out in the current infrastructure of the game. There are a metric ######### load of factors to it, and it would probably only feel worth it if they did something like everybody is on the same map with 8-11 gens or whatever, and only 4 or 5 survivors and 1 killer will be on one 'plane' at once, with the killers tagging into each others games. Problems would also arise with any map control characters. Trapper, Pee Head, Hag, Demo, etc. would all be bunk or have to work very differently. All of this on top of the fact that either it would decimate queue times or be a temporary event, and it isn't feasibly worth doing. I think the best way for them to spice up gameplay is secondary objectives or changes to the way survivor works right now, as generators are a huge bore. That, or having more events akin to the halloween ones or the upcoming anniversary event. If we had one of those a month, things would hardly ever get dull. They could recycle them, even, and I think it would still do a lot for the tediousness of gameplay right now.

Funny you mention the blood thing, given the new prestiges... :( (nervously glances at zarina and then at hag)

So, this is pretty common. A killer camps a survivor so he can guarantee at least 1 kill. I thought this was not wrong and I got camped like this quite a lot. I still thought this was OK since the killer doesn't want to depip, which makes sense. Then I watched an Otzdarva video in which he played Wraith. All the gens were done and he had 1 person on hook. Instead of camping, he continued playing normally and because of that, he got a 4K. This really changed my mind. I don't think camping for 1k isn't wrong but if you do it, you might just waste a 4K.

    Really depends on the team.

  • Ok but like can we make the old perks more fun too? Bad enough Ash got screwed for not being killer and for not havin any film skins, but his perks, man... His #########' perks... :'(

  • I couldn't care less about the creators. I'm sure they're fine. I just personally think these don't contribute much. The legion one has some fresh ideas, and clearly had a lot of work put into it. Claudette's had work put into it too, of course, but I feel it's just like a bunch of the other cosmetics we already have. That, and claudette already has so many. This would've been a great opportunity to give a character with less cosmetics another option, and an outstanding or unique one at that. These are fine, but it feels like a wasted opportunity.

  • I know people are excited about Pee Head and all, I am too, but I tried to load into a match as clown the other day and all four of them insta DCed. Considering the 35m queue time that felt pretty bad 😎😎😎

  • I really vibe with this issue. I just started playing last Halloween myself (not including the maybe 5-10 I'd put in with some friends long prior), so I had the perspective of an already absurd and growing paywall. In the time since then, I've managed to put in something like 140 dollars. I should note that includes the switch version (15) and maybe 5 or 10 bucks on the mobile version. I understand that the devs can say half of their locked content can be bought with shards, but you can't enjoy a killer or even survivor to their fullest without the perks of the others. Even beyond that, shards come ridiculously slowly to ever make getting all the original characters via that route without playing every single day for 14 hours like a maniac possible or realistic. The profile leveling system feels like a soft joke, and could really do with an update or two. Maybe every 5 levels you get to unlock a perk from a randomly generated selection or get 50 auric cells or something. I mean it's bad enough the grind for new players at any point in the last 2 years or so has been ridiculously tedious and overwhelming, imagine if you didn't have BBQ. A perk that, no matter what they say about the shrine, is not available for free under almost any circumstances. Also, I know cosmetics are sort of just that - cosmetics, but the pricing feels cruel. Ten dollars for a skin on a character that costs 5 or sometimes even less if you buy dlc or they're on sale feels weird. At least legendary skins are complete model swaps, with a lot of work behind them and seemingly often a license as well. Why does ash himself and all of perks cost basically the same amount of money as a slightly different shade of pants? That's just weird as hell. Either way, the bigger problem is obviously the paywalls in the game's actual progression. If you were to go back about a year and ask people what they would think if DbD got a mobile game, they'd probably laugh and say something about how it'd have an even worse grind and paywall, with microtransactions left and right.

We now live in a world where the mobile version of DbD somehow has LESS of a paywall than the main game! With no hard paywalls! That is absolutely insane. Within just maybe 30 hours of playing you can get bubba having spent not so much as a penny.

Why? Why is it like this? I don't think the devs intend to be this, like, 'greedy' about it. I think instead they just don't realize how overwhelming the paywall is for players joining the scene at this point. It makes the game a monstrous task as opposed to a fun and interesting set of challenges, goals, and rewards. I think visiting this topic should be a high priority for them, even with all the others that need attention. I know how much they care about keeping a steady flow of newcomers, so I think this would make a lot of sense to put attention and resources into.

How would the devs accomplish this, you might ask? Well, I think any amount of help would be good. I know they're planning to visit prestige rewards, and if that means giving you a few auric cells for your trouble as I believe the mobile version does, that would be a good start, so long as the numbers are right. I think beyond that the game does need a massive overhaul to the progression system though. It wasn't designed with the amount of content we have now in mind, and it shows. That, and it doesn't feel very personal or proportional. We need more overall progression systems for your account, ones that vary from other games to offer a unique and interesting path of choices and rewards. And then we need either more control over the progression systems for each character and side (currently being unable to get the perks you want on the bloodweb for 150 levels or more, for example) or very different systems in their place. I can't imagine what this would look like, but I'm a dumbass spending too much time ranting about a game I know I'm gonna spend too much money and time on and I'm not paid to do it so uhhh yeah devs can pretty much take over from here 🀐

(Also for clarity I have 900 hours on Steam and I feel like I've gone nowhere for the most part, send help)

not trying to be salty, but do I really need to run a perk to prevent the game bug? Sounds like "run iron will to counter the spirit". I mean, deer stalker is 10/10 perk on killers like oni, nurse, billy... But what if I'm playing doctor for example, I don't need deer stalker on him, so it would be just 1 perk slot wasted.

It's really up to you. You don't have to, but if you're having trouble with it then you might want to consider it. We kind of just have to do what we can with the product BHVR gives us.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Can I get BPs when the Killer is using a Mori? And he should not get BPs for using them.

Also, Moris "counter" Keys, but Keys dont "counter" Moris. With a Mori you kill people faster, meaning it is less likely that many Survivors will have a potential escape with a Key.

Both should be changed, but not in such a way.

You actually do get less BP to mori at any given stage.

Also, more people dying generally gets hatch closer to spawning, so if you see people getting mori'd you may want to play around the hatch, especially if you have a key.

  • Proxy camping or face camping?

  • The new matchmaking system comes out with the new chapter. Tune in to the Q&A stream tomorrow to learn more, as I'm sure they'll cover it. Have faith in BHVR, they want us to be happy.

    Long Post...

Inb4 I didn't make this to brag about how good I am or to say that killer is easy. It's not. I consider myself pretty average and I've been maining the bing bong boi since I started playing DBD. Whenever I look at tier lists the Wraith is always at the bottom and I'm really puzzled as to why that is.

Now that I have so much time staying at home I thought I would try replicating Tru3's experiment to see if I can pull it off with my humble 850 hours in the game vs his 5000. I also made sure to change a few things to make it more interesting/challenging:

-I did not tunnel or camp, I tried to be as fair as I could without throwing the game.

-I did not slug for the 4k but I did during the game when it was beneficial.

-I puposely used different builds and addons. I don't see the point of playing just one build since that just proves one build is better than other builds.

-My goal was just to stay at rank one for as many games as possible. On the 11th game I got my ass handed to me by a team with 3 freaking flashlights. Some games I guess you just can't win...

    So these are my results:

There you have it guys. My take on this experiment is that the whole "I get a toxic swf group every game" argument is blown waaaay out of proportion in this forum. Yes matchmaking is a joke at the moment. Yes killer is hard and a few mistakes can cost you the game, but if a mediocre player like me can win consistently with the Wraith I can't imagine how it must be for other, "better" killers. Anyway sorry for the wall of text I just thought it would be interesting to open up a discussion as to why you think the Wraith is good or bad compared to other killers. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

I think you can become good and perform well with any killer. That's not what determines the 'viability' of that killer. You can 4K as demo or clown for 100 matches in a row with a little bit of luck and a lot of focus. Doesn't mean they shouldn't tweak/rework clown.

Lot of people are defending it, but im not @ anyone

And dwight has a 3 crow on his head which means he has a long time there, and probably when the hag found the dwight no one was there (but we still dont know cause OP isn't giving any answers)

And that hag maybe doesn't deserve a perma ban but maybe a 1 week ban, cause she's preventing someone from playing the game and make them purposefully lost it.

And peanits already said she can get banned so no point of discussing this, at least im happy she's getting banned for ruining people experience like this :)

Again, as has been brought up over and over here, there's nothing preventing the others from opening the gates. They're desperate for a save they don't, in any capacity, have to make. Was hag probably ######### in this scenario? Yeah, given the map layout. Was hag maybe making the experience less worthwhile for dwight? There's a good chance of that, yeah. But let's all take a step back and forget about the sides. Here is one poor little baby Dwight. Trapped behind layers and layers of desperation, pride, fear, and bias. Trapped by the two sides to which people so tightly cling in this game and in this community. He might not know a thing about us. He might think killers and survivors are two peas in the same pod, as we all really ought to be. Maybe he skips post-game chats. No matter the case, there's one thing we can all say for certain. Nobody deserved any of this.

Except [Side I don't main]! ######### them, right? xd

What you need to do is some research... Rank is no longer how they match make.... Rank is nothing but a cosmetic number to make you feel good and give you a simple goal to obtain.

Match making is now done in the background. As you play you gain and lose points for the good and bad things you do. This point system is what is now used for matchmaking. So you will be matched up with other players at or around your current skill level. This could be a rank 20 or a rank one.... It all is based off how you perform in the actual game... The more you play the better your matchmaking will be. You do not have access to see what your matchmaking ranking is so just play the best you can.

That's not out yet. It's still rank-based. No matter what it's based on, it is still jank as hell. It may be this was one of their 'secret random tests', but it is still awful.

Agreed, Im red ranks and my teammates play like rank 15s

It's different for killer, because ranking up to red is a big challenge. It may not be rewarding, as playing in high ranks is awful, but it's sorts seen as the main cohesive objective for progression.

  • These forums can be wack lol.

  • Have you even SEEN what Jeff has available?

    Or, rather, what he doesn't.

  • I would pay 30 dollars for him deadass

  • Flip-Flop and Spies From the Shadows are some of my favorite perks in the game. They can both be complete game changers, and nobody sees em coming.

  • I've had the same problem. And on top of that, I feel like survs have been just a lil tiny bit extra toxic. And by that I mean every other group has been a nightmare but the remainder have been mostly fine. As a Ghostface main I am not thrilled about the OoO thing. I'm also a returning vet in green ranks and get matched up almost exclusively with rank 1s and rank 2s, and my skills are just really not yet up to snuff for this. It's making playing killer like it was when I stopped playing in January, and I was just starting to think the game was kinda balanced (albeit broken).

  • I know right? I played like 5 matches as killer last night to clear my dailies and for whatever reason it was like every single survivor was super extra completely toxic. And it's usually pretty bad, but this was just worse. It didn't help that they were all rank 1 or rank 2 as most of my opponents at rank 9 or 10 are. It was miserable. I figured some toxic killer main must've been streaming or something but I couldn't find any info.

  • Getting Hawkins 3 times in a row

SWFs being ridiculously better than normal teams

Survivors either bring really toxic or complaining about the way I played just because they died (notice how survivors almost always only say gg if they survive)

    Corn

Matchmaking giving me rank 1s and 2s that have thousands of hours while I, a rank 7/8, only have around 400-450

Being revealed really easily as Ghostface, despite playing as intended or being really far away (you shouldn't be able to reveal him from the hook, or at least from a much shorter range to still prevent blatant camping, if you don't care for that)

Object of Obsession, especially as part of an SWF. It's too powerful, and the people that run it are always really good at looping

When I was in the first 5 or 6 ranks (20-15/14), queues were roughly 30-45 minutes long, despite having very good internet

I could probably come up with more, but my time would be better spent considering whether or not I should become a survivor main
