I'm sorry Behavior, I've bought all your DLC and paid for a few skins in the past, but this battlepass "Rift" is too rich for my blood. Your game was balancing on a pegged leg when it came out, it has flourished on the most basic of luck in the industry purely because it had more to offer than F13 and because Evolve became hot garbage, this though is going too far.
I like battlepasses, I play PUBG and Fortnite, and I find it's a fair way to earn the gear and skins. There's just a couple key problems here, you can't earn any extra Aurics in the pass than what the next season is worth, there is only 70 levels and not 100, and you dont have enough original skins to make me want to pay 10$ for aesthetics alone. Maybe if you had sold the pass at a cheaper rate to begin since it's new, and maybe if you offered some Aurics in the Free part of the pass as well, to compensate and give incentive to want to get them from your store to buy others I would feel more inclined. Maybe you could go FTP and refund players who purchased all your DLC and game with Aurics.
As it stands though, you're simply selling mostly repainted skins that i already paid for and then making me work may ass off to get them.
P.S. I'll peak back when your pass is a bit more reasonable and you have enough animators to fill it properly.
"So long and thanks for all the fish."
I thought that this update was going to be great even tho the cosmetics are mediocre at best but no they ramp up the grind of the rift to absurd levels (they've stated that the rift was going to be casual friendly which is a blatant lie) to force you into buying the tiers.
I'm taking a break from dbd and will come back when they iron up the glaring issues.
Keep in mind that this game costs money and with all of it's dlc it's quite a bit so there is no excuse for such scuminess. A lot of free to play games have a fair, more rewarding battle pass.

You make it sound like I'm speculating. No. We've already seen all the challenges of all the tiers in the PTB. We've already added up all of the rift shards they will reward. We already know the calculation based on how much XP you get in matches.
I don't care if I don't get free stuff. I care that this entire rift thing is a predatory form of monetization and that it's anti consumer, designed to milk people out of their money intentionally. I'd rather the thing not exist in the first place because it does more harm than it does good.
Even if I give absolutely zero shits about the rift, I'm still going to be heavily effected by it, such as survivors in my game doing nothing productive in the match because they're too busy running around like a chicken with their head cut-off trying to scare off 25 stupid crows. I never signed up for that.
This whole archives update is a big f***up. I would rather have all the cosmetics be sold in the store without having to complete the rift and remove the rift entirely. The tomes can stay for the lore with the challenges giving you something to spice up your gameplay and not forcing you to play scumy.
As it stands right now this update is a huge disappointment.

Only thing that comes to my mind is Mr. Krab's voice saying,
"MONEY MONEYYYY MONNNNEYYYYY"
The devs did this to encourage you to spend money to skip this very difficult task with your points but didn't make it "IMPOSSIBLE" so that it can't be done. It's a marketing strategy for them to make more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Damn right they did. Even free to play games do a much better job.

(I got bugged out to see tome4 level, and I'm not the only one who gets this bug)
HOW DO YOU SERIOUSLY THINK I WILL BE ABLE TO DO 4GENS BY MYSELF???!?!?!?!?!??!?!
This whole archives update is a big f***up with the unrealistic grind to this bs. I just don't know how all of this passed the ptb testing.

It's fine..the whole game is grindy. I'm happy to be earning more frequent rewards.
It's not fine having to play 2-3 hours every day assuming you do ALL the challenges in all tomes.
But that's not the point, it seems it was intended to be this way to force people with not enough time or onesided mains to buy the tiers which is scumy.
They also lure you by saying you will get your auric cells back after you unlock all the tiers but what purpose does it serve if you are inevitably going to use them up to reach the end of the rift.

So you are saying those who play less than 6-7 games every day won’t get the top tier exclusive items in the game? That sounds perfectly fine to me.
You have to complete all the killer and survivor challenges in all four tomes and play 6-7 games a day to unlock the entire rift
-
The best way to progress through the rift after you have done all your challenges is to play killer and just afk, since the rift fragment progress exp is tied to your game time (1sec=1exp totalling to 600 which is the cap for one game).
I just queue up as killer and go do something else periodically checking if my game is over to queup again.
It baffles me that the devs thought that this was a good idea, the only worse battle pass system I've come across was activisions cod battle pass and I don't think that BHVR wants to be associated with them after building up good will for this long.

Well given what's at stake at tier 70 I feel like the grind is justified.
For those unaware:
Free Rift Travelers get a Brand New Part Charm.
Premium Rift Travelers get a BNP Charm AND a Putrid Serum charm.
The problem with the rift is that it feels it was made this way to force us to buy the tiers (100 auric cells per tier) which is scumy and borderline exploitative.
-
To clarify for future readers. Assuming you do both killer and survivor challenges you would only go to about tier 40 in the rift. The rest you need to grind via game exp (1 game sec = 1 exp totaling to 600 assuming your games last 10 min).
800 exp = 1 fragment
10 fragment = 1 tier
So doing the math that's a lot of games you need to play a day to reach tier 70.
It totals to around 6-7 games a day and that equals to about 2h every day.
I don't know about you guys but I don't have 2h every day to play dbd.

6 or 7 games is an hour.
If you can't play an average of 1 hour a day you probably shouldn't complain about grind you're barely playing of course it'd be a grind.
1 hour a day is what the devs were aiming for also.
I can barely play 5 games in an hour with all the queue times and pregame stuff

The xp is based on time in a match? Why am I not surprised lmao... Having it based on actual objectives completed and BP earned in a match would just be absurd 🤦
It surprised me also when I learned that it was that way

10 minutes does not equal 600 EXP. 12 minutes alone equals about 550~560 EXP (depending on emblem bonus).
601 XP (from match time) is actually the hard cap. I've been in a single match for over an hour and only 601 XP was the amount I gained, but have had games that lasted over 25 minutes where I'd get around 580 XP but not hit the hard cap.
Of course, playing survivor, you will die early sometimes, so you're not going to get 550~560 exp every single game.
I know i messed that up still it doesn't change anything it makes it even worse.

You're working toward those xp fragments while doing the challenges as well. Its not do the challenges then grind the xp fragments its simultaneous.
700-100 hours is reasonable.
They just need to make the later challenges not ridiculous but we'll see when they release.
Not everyone can play 6-7 games every day. When I saw that one tier also costs 100 auric cells I was kinda pissed.

@TheRoyalOwl said:
You aren't supposed to earn many fragments while playing regularly, this is done to make the challenges more incentive and keep you from getting to high tiers before most the tomes are released.
Yes I know, still with all the challenges completed you will only unlock little more than half of the rift meaning that you need to grind the remaining tiers through exp.
