  • Hex: Ruin is still a perk - it just functions a bit differently than it used to. I still use it on my Hag and find it to still be a wholly viable option as long as you a strategic with the traps that you place and you are doing your due diligence by running survivors off of gens.

I wouldn't say that there are other perks that are "working the same like old Ruin was in the Bloodweb" as Ruin is still a perk and is unique to itself in its functionality.

  • yeah it's always frustrating to me that, after I've skipped a certain perk in the bloodweb because I have no use for it - it'll immediately show up in the next level. Like... listen.... eff off with No Mither and just give me Self-Care III already! hehe but I also see why that happens, I think it's a way to encourage continuous leveling and keep people from hoarding BP (which ima do anyway... yall can't stop me!! )

  • Thank you to those of you that offered constructive opinions and solutions. These criticisms, as always, come from a place of love. This is about making sure that the game and community are moving in the best direction. Finding that balance between catering to us veteran players and making sure that new players have an opportunity to feel catered to, I believe, is important. I feel like these challenges and the Rift pass are very much catered to those that are able to have ALL the characters and ALL the time to complete it. I understand that it can't be so easy or so base leaning that veteran / invested players will lose interest. That was never my point.

I'm just think about ease of access for all. I will concede that there is definitely a direct line through part one of this Tome - but that means you lose out on the amazing lore that they've taken the time to put together for us. So now, even veteran players are put in a position where we have to chose to use our in game currency in ways that we might not otherwise because of the way the new content is setup. I never intended to buy Jane Romero or her perks from the Shrine, but now I'm almost forced to. I never wanted to play David King - luckily I somehow had him and got his first Master challenge done as a lvl one David with JUST that perk on. (yay, teamwork)

I want to see the Rift and Archives be appealing to ALL - the more appealing it is to a wider audience, new players especially, the more money the devs make off of it, the more monetary resources they'll have to make the game better. *cough-like fixing the damn hit boxes-cough*

Again, thank you all that have joined the discussion. Constructive criticism and discussion is how this game we all love (or have a masochistic relationship with) and this community we all love (unless you purposefully DC when you're losing...quitter...) will continually get better.

Much love - happy hunting / surviving

  • Honestly I RARELY get a mori - if you're getting Mori'd that often well, then...

    make changes or make excuses.

  • @Rex_Huin + @ShrekIsHot + @vossler25 yeah I've built up 400k BP on PC right now waiting to be dumped into the new DLC but I'll keep grinding and then just dump into these folks, for sure. I'm prob gonna grind a bunch on Xbox this week, too, to farm BP for the same reasons.

@Carlosylu Thanks for the hot tips, I'll def look into those builds. Freddy has been my main for a LONG time but I've recently taken to Wraith as a main, as well. In general I wanna be an all around better killer with multiple killers so the advice is greatly appreciated.

@Weck yeah I do both platform lol I know it's a bit nutty and I'd probably be MUCH further along in The Rift on both if I didn't split my time - but I'm currently build a DBD "clan" of sorts through my Discord that runs on multiple platforms and I figure the best way to build a community around the game I love is to be available to both. Plus, running different characters on each platform keeps it even more fresh for me (Even though I have to grind with Trapper and Claudette on both because of The Archives)

  • oh yeah, that's evil lol GGs though. Those are DEF the kind of "troll" moments that make me fear the Doctor. Damn skill check thing floating all over my screen... BIG OOFs lol

  • Leave my dude Freddy alone - he's perf. I love heem.

  • I started playing because I wanted to play as Freddy so, I still LOVE playing as Freddy, but I've recently taken to Wraith as a favorite, as well. I'm trying to diversify more and git gud with as many as I can, though. The Archives have forced me to play more Trapper, obv, and I've enjoyed it.

I'm gonna be trying out Plague on PC as well as, I think, Piggy on Xbox. We'll see though.

DEF gonna be playing ONI on PC when it comes out.

  • I mean - I'm a friendly killer. I'm really enjoying playing killer as I'm normally a survivor main - I try to be as un-toxic as possible. I appreciate when I'm a killer and survivors do well, especially at the lower ranks, because I want them to have fun and enjoy the game - cause I do. So, example, if survivors DC because they're salty and the others stick in and finish the game - I'm nice about it - I let em live - it's not their fault the other survivors were trash and DC'd like the garbage humans they are! Or if people are clearly being sandbagged by some on their team that isn't playing right - I'm nice about it.

I send "Much love", "GGs" and "have a wonderful day" at the end of matches on PC because I appreciate that there are other people other there playing the game I love and having a good time - especially if they aren't being toxic about it.

I've met some great people and played survivor with them late because I did something nice as a killer.

I guess just... try to be a better person?

  • yeah, this was my thought, as well. I didn't mind the grindy challenges. Those actually encouraged you to play the game more - I was more concerned with "do multiple of this ALREADY difficult thing with this very specific perk in this very specific situation" challenges.

  • Are these challenges grindy? Sure. Are some of them difficult? Sure. Do I even find them a bit daunting? Yup.

Honestly, though, that's why they're called CHALLENGES and not "do the things you already do in the game all the time"

This isn't Fortnite - they're not going to ask you to "dance on the church steps".

I got my bit of complaint in, but it's honestly making me more determined to GIT GUD at killer and survivor so I can EARN the lore.

If you expect things to be easy - you expect things to be handed to you - grow up. These challenges are encouraging you to make it so your money is well spent on the "battle pass" money spent on hours playing the game to grind out these challenges.

Do I think I'll complete all these challenges on both Xbox AND PC? Maybe not - but you better believe I'm gonna give it my all.

People will ALWAYS find things to complain about. You can make excuses or make changes. Complain or git gud.

  • Yeah myself and the rest of my squad are pretty miffed at these. It's definitely going to take a team effort for much of these survivor challenges and the Killer ones... we'll see how many we can actually get done. Cheers to the Fog Whisperers and full-time streamers that can grind DBD for a solid month straight. lol

**I'm still gonna grind dafuq outta DBD for these, I'm hella determined**

  • EXACTLY! @Mrwood204 @Exxodus21 you DEF get where I'm coming from! @Mrwood204 I LOVE the multiple Cenobite skin idea - especially since the later films lost sight of have the other Cenobites and really just focused on Pinhead.

@Weck the first two films are CLASSICS. I watch em every October without fail. LOVE em.

but yeah I also think about, kinda like Huntress, a thrown hook strike where a hook on a chain flies out at survivors. Could send survivors into a "dream world" like Freddy but instead light shines in from the side of the map and you see spinning columns with hooks all over em that survivors have to avoid or they get the hemorrhage effect.

There's SO much they could do with it. @Exxodus21 my thoughts, exactly - I would drop SO much money on that DLC. I'd have to have every single skin, etc.

  • Thank you all so much for the insight. My crew and I are determined to make a name for ourselves in this community, because we love it so much. I look forward to getting to know you all more and more as I become increasingly more active in the community and working to produce more content that you all can appreciate as well. You insights are a HUGE help and motivator.

    Much love <3

  • Fantastic! I really appreciate the insight and help. It is unfortunate that those changes won't be coming to console right away - but that's great for PC. So far I love the balance on both - though it is good that it's coming to PC first cause that is where I've seen the most DCs (which never makes sense to me, but that's another discussion lol )

  • ah well that's a bummer! While I do play on PC, as well, this happened on Xbox, so I unfortunately don't have the log files. but I'll def report it. Thank you.
