  • Thank you. It is a serious shame just how disappointed we had to get first to hear this.

  • I highly recommend the build Human Greed, Hoarder, Franklin's and Weave Attunement to counter the new meta that has no problems whatsoever and BHVR are fine existing!

Those perfectly legitimate Streetwise users are a threat, so be sure to look for Hoarder notification spam and rightfully tunnel them out of the game as quickly as possible.

After all, the decision to not killswitch this couldn't possibly have any repercussions. It's just a new survivor meta to adapt to!

Be sure to play a nice mobile killer too, it's been working well on Singularity since you can just defend the item on the ground with a pod.

  • This entire situation feels like I'm watching BHVR start a grease fire in their kitchen. Smoke is billowing, flames are slowly consuming the kitchen, it is spreading to other parts of the house.

And BHVR just stand there. Smiling.

A fire extinguisher sits a mere foot away.

"We don't need to use that, it'll sort itself out."

And Jocelyn - who I'm well aware was not the one to make this decision, but undeniably has been communicating in a completely absurd way through this entire thing - is throwing gasoline on it.

the devs didn't kill switch Springtrap or Kaneki when they were and still are abusing invisibility/audio bug and kidnap exploits without any remorse whatsoever, and survivors saw that every other match. meanwhile streetwise exploit takes too much time to even be of value, that's why you won't see it in 9/10 survivor matches if you actually played the masterpiece that is Dead by Daylight.

it's okay to let survivors have a little fun sometimes. if survivors can handle Kaneki and Spring Trap exploits and an entire roster of OP killers, then killers can handle Streetwise exploit for a few months. as for me, I won't be abusing Streetwise because I don't need it, thank you very much. BHVR is very gracious to provide us with this insider info so don't kill the messenger. this is not the apocalypse. killers will survive one way or another.

I'm just going to call out - abusing this bug is STUPID. You spend 5 minutes at a chest swapping items to increase the charges to make a gen go a little faster (no its not twice the speed of normal progress like people inferred above), but in reality you could just bypass that extra step and get on a gen normally with probably faster results.

Some people just do not understand logic and want to do the cool new thing like the sheep they are.

10 swaps at a chest gives a Commodious item 11000~ charges. This is not "5 minutes" unless your controller lost a fight to a grenade, and you're missing both of your hands.

And yes - the literal % increase that an Engineer Toolbox will increase your repair speed is 100%. Aka, twice the speed. You can check the wiki, you can check in game, you are outright delusional if you just decide to not believe this.

Even a BROWN toolbox will increase speed by 50% - and if you don't think permanently doing every generator 50% faster isn't completely broken, you are utterly clueless about anything to do with this game's balance.

    They are :)

I wonder what other bugs they're alluding too. Maybe For The People crashing people's games? (Also not killswitched despite meeting the criteria of breaking people's games and making them unplayable)

    That can't be real.

PLEASE. Tell me that isn't a real message. Please, please tell me that wasn't typed out and send with the full confidence that this is worthy of going "gottem, that'll justify the decision".

"It isn't even the worst bug we have right now" That's because this entire patch is an annihilated mess!!! How is that a point in your favour?? Why is this a hill your company is deciding to die on? What does this accomplish?

  • You heard it here first, folks. Straight from BHVR themselves:

    • Streetwise does not warrant a kill switch despite making gens permanently take half the usual time.
    • Streetwise actually does not impact that many games.
    • Abusing Streetwise will not get you banned and the "exploits" section of the report function serves no purpose.

As this is the new survivor meta, it is quite clear that BHVR are encouraging you to abuse this as much as you can while it lasts. Infinite toolboxes are balanced, 30 second gens are balanced, and the one perk that could have countered it had that entire function removed.

    Go wild, everyone!

The pitchforks are out. Poor Jocelyn trying yo offer some communication. 🥺

And we are communicating back that the decision is terrible and should be reevaluated. My bitterness here is not directed at Jocelyn, but the decision of the team as a whole to let this continue ruining matches for arbitrary and ridiculous reasons despite literally everybody, except for the people actively abusing it, lighting a fire under BHVR's ass.

Respectfully, considering how long it takes to even exploit the bug, it isn't affecting games enough to meet the criteria. I am not discounting the frustration or feedback about how it is being used. However, until it is gamebreaking, it will not receive a Kill Switch. It is a nuclear option.

I think there needs to be a serious reevaluating of WHAT warrants a kill switch.

If you consider infinitely charged toolboxes that last for the entire game to be okay and non-gamebreaking because it takes a bit of time to set up, then I'm genuinely afraid for what else could be considered okay.

This exploit is single handedly making me unable to play killer because it's based on something that isn't even visible in the lobby and does NOT have a counter. The only possible counter for it would be old Franklins and how it would drain an item of charges over 90 seconds - which was removed in this exact same patch.

For the record, you kill switched Nemesis due to broken perk interactions. Which was justified, don't get me wrong, but you should apply the exact same sort of leniency here. The same way you should have applied it to Merciless Storm when that was bugged to rip 50% off a generator. But what this means is that this insane restriction that's being suggested that it's only ever used for things that actually cause the game to cease functioning entirely is just not true.

It comes across that BHVR doesn't want to killswitch two things at once because it's embarrassing to admit multiple things are completely broken. And that's extremely frustrating in a patch where so much of the game is broken.

Genuinely, I want to know what the justification is for keeping Streetwise available to use - and WHAT exactly makes it better than simply preventing this exploit from appearing in every other game I play. Is this TRULY WORTH a perk that's intended purpose is tied to a mechanic of the game people never do in regular matches? Do you REALLY think the majority of Streetwise users currently are running it so they can loot a chest normally and play the game without exploiting it to hell and back?

And if you really think it's worth the case, what does the 15-to-1 ratio of votes down to votes up on this response say about how the playerbase feels about that? It might actually help to listen. Maybe, just maybe, we are right about this.

  • The single worst map in the game to play on.

This map is obscenely large, has a giant main building with extremely powerful vaults that waste a lot of time without wasting any resources, has strong tiles that connect decently closely, the single safest gen in DBD on the top floor of the main building, and the rework addressed absolutely none of these issues.

The rework decided that to make the map balanced, it would add a disgustingly close 3 gen for the killer to use. And then we got an anti 3 gen system implemented, sending REALLY mixed messages about how BHVR thinks maps are supposed to be balanced.

Garden of Joy needs an ACTUAL overhaul. Not the "announce a rework and then just give up" that we got.

All I want is a 40m terror radius (with nerfed Calm add ons to compensate), and illusionary doctors to actually move around.

Bonus if illusionary doctors can swing at the survivor, and instead of hitting them, causes them to scream on contact.

You bring up a good point, I buffed the Terror Radius and forgot to bring up the Calm add-ons. Oops!

Yeah, those would need to be tweaked accordingly.

  • Confirmed, I just had this. My model also permanently stretched to the part of the map where Charlotte woke up, I was able to move but I couldn't raise my camera or swing. Trying to release Victor had me permanently stuck for the rest of the match.

  • You know, I don't use these forums often to reply to posts, and today I decided to scroll through the discussions to see if there's anything worth putting my input into. Thank you for reminding me why I should never do that.

  • I'll hit with this one, I actually think Trapper is a very underrated killer. Not a high tier mind you, but far from bad. His traps when placed well can lock down incredibly strong structures better than almost any killer except Nurse with a bit of planning, and being placed down mid-chase can force survivors away from safety. Of course there's the problems of his terrible early game and his heavily reliance upon addons but I really do think with a bag and a Tar Bottle he is at least a solid B tier.

  • Alright, this is gonna be a long one.

Gen times are not the issue. Directly increasing gen times just makes survivor gameplay even more boring than it is. The issue is split into two big problems.

    1) Maps. Map design in this game is and always has been god-awful. There is not a single map that doesn't have some glaring flaw, and I can't cover all 30-something off them, so as a general idea of what I want done to them, overall map size reductions for most maps and certain horribly survivor sided structures (Ironworks, Storehouse, Wretched Shop etc.) having more options added for the killer to potentially mindgame a survivor and punish their mistakes.

    2) The killers. As in, the killer roster. As it stands, only four killers out of 18 are consistently strong at rank 1, these being Nurse, Spirit, Hillbilly and Freddy. The rest can have POTENTIAL, but often fail to ever reach it at least on a consistent basis due to lacking either chase power or map pressure, or in some extremely weak killers' cases, both.

If every killer were as strong as Hillbilly/Freddy, gen times wouldn't be an issue. I'm going to propose changes that will help bring the bottom 14 perhaps not all the way up to perfect viability, but will at least get them closer.

The Trapper: 2 traps default at start of game, max carry capacity of 2 at base without addons. Number of traps on the map should not change with addons and should instead stay a consistent 8, all spawning relatively close to where the Trapper spaws.

The Wraith: Reduce uncloaking time. Make Shadow Dance addon at green rarity base, and rework Shadow Dance.

The Hag: Honestly, just change some of her terrible addons. Waterlogged Shoe needs a total rework, deafening survivors with the Disfigured Ear should actually cloud the sounds of the game for an amount of time and induce a dizzy screen visual effect that reduces field of view and distance the survivor can see.

The Doctor: Fix Shock Therapy. Reduce the travel time significantly to the point where it's almost, if not just hitscan. Makes it much more reliable at actually being a threat in chases.

The Huntress: 110% is her movement speed when carrying 5+ hatchets. When her hatchet count goes below 5, she begins to gain 1% movement speed for every hatchet she throws out, putting her at 115% if she's empty handed.

The Pig: Ideally, a complete rework. For now however, make the keys in jigsaw boxes ACTUALLY random, as right now a survivor will have the same jigsaw box all game no matter how many traps are put on their face. Make the key required of every RBT actually random as you'd expect it is.

The Clown: Hitting a generator directly with a bottle will cause it to lose 5% progress and start regressing (doesn't work if already regressing, of course). Thick Cork Stopper is base kit for faster reloading. Remove the drastic slowdown he gets when throwing a bottle.

The Legion: Total rework. No other suggestions, this killer has always been either problematic for the game or terrible, and it's painfully obvious BHVR don't know what they want to do with them.

The Plague: Survivors staying fully infected will slowly gain an action speed penalty, 1% more for every 4 seconds, resulting in a cap of 30% penalty after three minutes. In return, nerf Corrupt Purge in some way, but keep it strong.

The Ghost Face: Rework his addons, as of right now he has virtually no good options for addons except for Night Shroud recovery rate, which almost feel required to use the insta down in a chase.

The Shape: When in T3, perform break actions 15% faster and reduce stun time by 30%.

The Demogorgon: I got nothin' for this one, I play very little Demogorgon.

The Oni: Injured survivors within your terror radius but not in a chase will bleed more and drop more blood orbs.

These changes along with actual fixes to the maps and general Quality of Life help such as a tweak to DS and making it so auto aim doesn't cancel my swing because it thinks I hit a survivor when I most definitely didn't will go a long way.

    • Which platform are you playing on?
    Xbox One S
    • What map were you playing on?
Red Forest, Badham Preschool and several MacMillan Maps are the worst offenders
    • What side were you playing (killer / survivor)?
    Killer
    • What killer was in the game?
    Doctor, Huntress, Wraith
    • What actions (ie: dropping a pallet, using a power) were you doing when you experienced the FPS drop?
As Doctor: Just Doctor in general lags the game quite significantly.
As Huntress: Throwing hatchets causes common frame skips.
As Wraith: Running Windstorm addons tends to sharply decrease the frame rate for their duration.
    • Any other useful information!
I sincerely believe Red Forest needs a good bit of work on console. It's my favourite map aesthetically and gameplay wise but the rain effect on its own gives it the worst frame rate of all maps, I average about 10 fps if I'm playing Doctor on it.
