Watch ScottJunds Video about WhatAboutism in Dead by Daylight.

WhatAboutism is a really big problem in the community.

And you are part of a problem.

Look, I don't need to watch a DbD video to learn about "WhatAboutism", but thanks for the offer.

I explained below to what I intended to ask originally, it may have come across differently. I do still believe their opinion is wrong, though. I want to understand their position better. Is DS inherently cheap? Camping and tunneling is extremely frustrating to deal with, and that's why perks like BT and DS exist. If you say, "I don't use DS, because it feels cheap", then I have to wonder if camping and tunneling is okay? And if not, then why is DS cheap in the first place? Feels like a hollow statement, something isn't "cheap" for no reason.

I just stated my opinion, I never said anything about tunneling and camping you strawmanning person.

And I am responding to your opinion because I fail to understand why you feel DS is cheap when all it does it protect you from a tunneling and camping Killer, that is literally what it's designed for. Yes, it could use some tweaks as currently it can be used in a toxic way to annoy the Killer, but honestly, you can avoid doing that and just make use of DS' intended utility. Also, I apologize for being too blunt in my original response, I just wanted to know why exactly you feel using DS is cheap, even when it's used for the right reasons (avoiding tunneling, camping). So instead of trying to spark a new irrelevant debate, which I did not intend to do at all, please elaborate so I can understand better.

The only time I used it was when I had to get my Laurie adept. I dont like it, it feels cheap.

It feels cheap, but tunneling / camping feels fair? Please explain.

Sorry to disappoint you OP but the fact DS affects games without being present already speaks it for itself, DS is in fact one of , if not the best perk in the game.

  • Not sure if it's been posted already but since I'm lazy:

    • Dull Totems and Hex Totems look the same, I just popped a dull but it ended up being Hex: Devour Hope
    • A rock can spawn in front of the hook on new Ormond, so you can't hook survivor on it

So you want to dead hard by kicking air?

  • @Mandy said:

The problem with that, is that it leads to Survivors being able to get on objects that they're not supposed to be able to land on and then taking the game hostage from there...which is why things were changed a while back (am sure some people here will remember being able to Dead Hard from the Balconies on Haddonfield). It just leads to more problems.

Okay, hear me out: we can't exclude David from using Dead Hard whenever he likes, but we don't want to break the game either... So instead of him dashing forward in mid air and getting too much distance, a "mini" dash that is otherwise insignificant (about the same distance you'd reach when Dead Harding off a platform, it would require some tinkering) but still has the invulnerability frames.

You ask the community to nominate the game for "Labor of Love" Award yet the very next day you release a broken DLC with nothing working and still have the audacity to DEMAND respect from the community when you clearly show NONE.

I would like to respectfully ask you and your colleagues to stop insulting us through your patches you call "work"

Not sure if you realize this, but a forum Mod is voluntary position that is basically a janitor, or a peace keeper. I doubt they even have any connections with the actual developers at all. So no, they didn't release any broken DLC, and they don't represent the entirety of BHVR. Stop being so black and white with your judgments. And also again no, the devs / community manager should be interacting with us directly, what you're suggesting them to do is going back and forth with a middle person, which is the opposite of what we want

I mean, rank has nothing to do with it. I want to enjoy the game as much as anyone else does. Billy and Demo are perfect examples of fun to play killers that survivors have an equal chance of "Skill versus Skill" gameplay whereas killers like Spirit and Deathslinger are boring and when you go down to them, instead of saying "wow! very well played" you're saying "Oop, there was nothing I could do in that situation"

Not complaining but trying to give my take on making the only game I play better for everyone. There are things that are complete BS on the survivor side as well such as DS + Unbreakable, Maps like Ormond and Haddonfield and Keys which all need to be "fixed" as well.

I agree with most of what you've said in this thread so far, but to say Billy and Demo are good examples of a balanced Killer is plain wrong. Billy has mobility, that's it. He's a SWF's wet dream, if the team is playing at a respectable level he won't land his chainsaw, unless he makes a succesful play, which is highly unlikely when they have put in the hours. He is subjected to loops, where he gets reduced to M1. Chainsaw mindgames won't save him anymore because the revving time takes too long. It's so easy to outplay, I feel bad for him. You can force him to M1 in any area with vaults. So vastly overrated. You can trash a Billy without thinking out of the box most of the time, and that is enough to warrant he's low tier.

Demo is very underwhelming as well, if every Killer was at Demo's level this game would be pure sadism on the survivors end. Don't give the devs bad ideas.

A good idea of a balanced Killer would be Freddy (except that ridiculous lunge that needs fixing)

You heard it here killer mains, a streamer with 8,000 hours that plays for a living says 4-man SWF is no big deal in an unbalanced game, so just git gud, noobs

Which is very hypocritical of her to imply, plenty of times when she gets destroyed, either just oblivious or wants to look tough. (Hint: it's the latter)

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1635225#Comment_1635225

Yeah, and those optimal SWFs are a really, really small percentage. And not everybody who loses against SWFs (or players they suspect to be in an SWF, because often enough they just claim they lost against an SWF) lost against one of those groups. But its easier to blame it on SWF than simply accepting that they were not good enough.

Let alone that people here talk about getting "bullied" by SWFs/Survivors in general, when the Survivors just do Gens and get to escape.

Sorry but I have to disagree, there are plenty of SWFs that are optimal enough to garner an unfair advantage, you don't need to be a cream of the crop tier team to destroy a Killer at all. Even IF it was really just a small percentage like you say, that doesn't make it right.

Yes, lots of survivors just whine about SWF when they have plenty of room for improvement, but this is really just a different discussion altogether. What we all need to realize is that optimal SWFs are more common than you'd think and they unbalance the game, and it needs to be looked into.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1635187#Comment_1635187

If you lose 99.9% of the time against SWFs, you are pretty bad.

This still doesn't address the actual issue, which is that optimal SWF IS overpowered and unbalanced. But go on being smug about that, for whatever purpose it serves

  • Not like anyone from BHVR cares, though.

I had contact through e-mail and the conversation stopped as soon as I mentioned this thread.

    Player feedback will be ignored.

Like someone else said, its for inspiration, not an exact copy. Has the Legion skin been shown/leaked yet? If so, is there a link?

    (b) a proposed name for the skin in English

    (c) a short description in English presenting the design of the skin.

Only Submissions of original Killers and Survivors will be accepted. PRIZES

2 winners will win the following prizes:

The 3D adaptation of the winner’s submission by BHVR as an official in-game very rare cosmetic. The cosmetic will be unlockable by all game players in exchange for 21 600 Iridescent Shards (in-game soft currency) and will also be available through the Rift for playtime. The in-game cosmetic will display the username of the winner’s choice as follows: “Design inspired by [USERNAME]”. Usernames with offensive content will not be accepted.

Should the winners own an account in the Game, the 3D model of their Submission will be awarded to them as a skin in the Game, at no charge. The cosmetic will be sent manually to the winners’ accounts by BHVR.

Additionally, the winners will win a prize of 10 000 Auric Cells + 1 Rift Unlock (1 000 Auric Cells)

The full value of the individual prizes is approximately 120$ USD.

"The 3D adaptation of the winner’s submission by BHVR as an official in-game very rare cosmetic."

That tells me that, when I submit my design, the prize I expect to receive when I win is an exact copy, and not just "any cosmetic" that used my design as inspiration.

Lmao this is the most picky thread I've ever seen. The skin sucks because they changed a few very small details? Ok then.

The skin sucks because it's completely different to what was promised because BHVR somehow deemed it as offensive.

Bruh just go somewhere else if you want something to get horny at they don't need to add thongs to their asymmetric 1v4 game

    Enjoy the upvote, nice gatcha.

  • @Mandy said:

On the point concerning the original design, it's quite clearly listed in the rules that BHVR may adapt or modify the submission - so by entering the competition, that rule was agreed to straight away.

The winning design is incredible, and it's been adapted to suit/fit the character it's intended for and to work within the game.

I understand and is the reason I discourage artists to participate in future design contests as apparently BHVR will just twist and change the design to where its hardly even the same. Such a bad rule. This is hosting a design contest for the wrong reasons. If you want a community submission for the game you should stay true to the design, I am telling you right now the artist is hurt and insulted because of what BHVR chose to do with it. Literally should have just picked someone else. You dont pick someones hard work and 'fix' it, this is basic human decency

Feng and Clown got in just fine because they were picked with care, this one wasnt

  • @malatruse said:

It seems like most of the primary details are being kept as-is. The design on the back of the hoodie seems the most obvious change, but I can understand that. Honestly I'm glad we didn't get the thong, it always made me kinda uncomfortable. I'm more bothered by the fact she's not wearing socks; she's gonna get major blisters.

For me it's the complete opposite, they picked their design as a winner being fully aware of the design on the back and the thong. If these were actual roadblocks, they'd have picked someone else.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/185653/the-claudette-skin-design-compromised

its called concept art. That’s why you see Claud with no hood on, hood on, beanie on. Earrings and necklace offend you?

why not just say you really really wanted to see a G string on a video game character? Maybe BHVR feels women aren’t objects? Maybe they felt like not putting putting a face on the back of the sweater for what should be obvious reasons?

    you guys are exhausting

Not sure why you'd connect me pointing out being unfaithful to an artist original design "offends" me

Don't really feel like giving you a reply to the rest, you sound like a parody

  • @Nameless said:

I'm sorry I'm confused... Why exactly is it a problem they added minor details such a necklace and earrings? You won't even notice those in the game lmao

It's a nitpick, but it's the simple principle of keeping good faith.

They altered both minor and large details

  • @Zani22 said:

It's been leaked can I see so if I know to be prepared for what to expect for nss

Updated the OP with it, sorry still getting used to the forum.

  • @Iceman said:

The design contest is to be inspired by. They don't have to mimic every detail that you put into the contest. There were some differences with the Clown skin, not so much with Feng though.

Anywho, I only wish they would have had the hoody over claudette hair like the artist. I don't care if it had to be a set.

The point is it's so different it might as well be a completely new design, that makes the point of hosting a contest void.

And while this is my opinion, I personally don't think this design is up to standard.
