  • DBD loses the SH license because of this heresy

i got an RTX 2060, all of my games run smooth asf but dead by daylight? i got play on high settings, edited my game user settings to uncap the fps, update my pc, update my drivers, verified my game files, i did everything, and yet the game is STILL dropping to either 60 frames or even 30 frames even tho i updated every and uncapped my fps???? like why isnt there a patch where they focus on performance issues and optimization cuz i been dealing with this since the hellraiser chapter and its still not sorted out, even when i play on low the game still drops to probably 40-60 frames, i even have vsync off yet it still drops frames

Optimization is the fantasy aspect of this game. I'm sure once enough platforms start seeing performance issues they'll have to do something....right?...right???

I agree maps like RPD (specifically when you get a Gen downstairs and upstairs in the main lobby) can be too oppressive 3 Gen wise for survivors. But the solution should surely be to reduce overall map size and make defending all gens actually possible?

Playing a lot of the roster, especially M1 killers, and especially those without mobility, it is impossible to defend all gens. I am almost certain that it is expected for killers to ignore far away gens/gens in bad spots and to try and create dead zones within an area of the map that is easier to defend. Again, it feels like the devs have bought into the argument that “the chase” is everything in this game. Defending certain areas, not chasing like a headless chicken is all part of a killer’s strategy. Are we really supposed to think the likes of Hag and Trapper shouldn’t be playing this way?

IMO four survivors should be able to break a 3 gen- the only ones who don’t are usually solo potatoes or cowards who won’t create even pressure on the killer and are waiting for their teammates to do it. The only exception to this is maybe skull merchant- which goes back to my original point. The latest full release killer is best played by 3 genning. Did the devs really not realise this was going to happen?

Killers and maps will need major reworks if they don’t fairly address this issue long term.

    @Topic

I can't speak for behavior so i'll just get my tinfoil on for this. The easy answer for them is "Play how you want." It's deeper then that though because there is a noticeable performance gap that is increasing as the game evolves. One could argue it's shoehorning players into how to play if they want to be optimal and continue to have a positive experience. While I wouldn't say they are outright pushing people away from lower-power M1 killers, there is a power creep elephant in the room. Again, tinfoil hat on for this so take it with a grain of salt, but new killers are being made to be so much better than their older counterparts who were designed to be good at 1-2 things. As the game evolves their kits have been getting bigger with multiple powers that would have had separate killers for each back in the early early days of the game. Here's an excerpt I found from the new killer' Singularity Power.

    Quantum Instantiation

"A dark Crystalline structure in an ancient ruin gifted - or perhaps cursed - Hux with sentience. He build a new body, and with it, a terrifying way to bend the rules of physics to his benefit.

The Singularity can shoot and spawn Biopods around the map; these Biopods can attach to any verticle surface they land on. The Singularity can control a Biopod remotely and look through it, and tag Survivors, afflicting them with a Temporal Slipstream. When slipstreamed, The Singularity can teleport next to the Slipstreamed Survivor either by using the Biopods to tag them, or by shooting them. When a Slipstreamed Survivor is in proximity to another Survivor, the Slipstream can spread.

    SPECIAL STATE OVERCLOCK MODE

After a successful Slipstream teleport, the Singularity enters Overlock Mode. In this state, walls and pallets can be destroyed faster, vaulting speed is faster and he cannot be stunned by pallets. Attempts to stun by pallet merely remove Overclock Mode and momentarily slow the Singularity.

    SPECIAL INTERACTION: ELECTROMAGNETIC PULSE

At the beginning of each Trial, several supply cases spawn, each containing an EMP. Survivors can use these EMPs to remove the Slipstream from themselves or others, or to briefly disable a Biopod. Once used, the EMP is destroyed"

I look at this and say...why would I even want to play any other killer when this one seems to do 3 different M1 killer things but better. It makes me want to go to the shiny new powerful model, which is what it's obviously designed to do, but why do all this and make these older killers that have been neglected look antiquated, outdated, and left in the dust?

  • That popped out to me as I was reading it too. I believe a few factors are at play here, of course, map design, the introduction of heavy gen-defense killers like Knight and SM, and the spawn algorithm for gens have created the perfect ######### storm and the devs kinda backed themselves into a corner on this so something is going to have to give.

At first glance, it seems the devs are compromising to surv complaints of 3 gens. Some may say caving, but regardless of what you want to call it, they are cutting into the 3-gen no matter how you spin it. Both temporary and long-term solutions to 3-genning are being sought. Take that how you will.

I'd say map design & gen spawn are the biggest offenders and more than likely a root of this change because some maps (looking at your RPD) spawn the closest possible 3 gens that is so damn easy to guard that you're already at a gross advantage from the start. Like, yeah survs can easily bring it on themselves but some games are just a losing up-hill battle from the start because that's just the game's design.

  • My feelings? If only I could play PTB on console and give feedback on how it performs on a console. Also, did they reuse assets from Dredge for this killer? Why are its weapon and the way it seems to swing it almost identical??

I really don't see why we should care. It's the usual corporate lingo of empty words to fill out the air time.

At best we'll get one or two streams where every question will be answered in one of two ways, like it always has been.

    1) That feature is not currently worked on, its later down the pipeline

    2) No, that feature is never coming.

Then they'll stop doing it again like they did before.

It just feels like BHVR has absolutely no idea what to do with the main game anymore besides securing big name licenses to inflate interest. Maybe it's just that last year was big with major reveals, but this anniversary livestream felt like a big bag filled with nothing but air.

    Exactly this.

  • Buff: Pig

Remove: Knight, Hag, Twins, & SM (take your pick I hate them all equally)

    Nerf: Pig

    Rework: Sadako

  • Oh man, so much to miss about old DBD for me. I miss the simple things, the odd things, and I miss those busted things that seemed to balance each other out like keys and moris. It's been a long day so I'm just going to list out what I miss from early on. some of it boils down to the quality of interaction between both sides.

You had no crossplay so everyone just played in their own communities which is something I appreciate more now. There was the horror aesthetic with the fog on the og maps that really set the atmosphere. You had Pig with actual power in the endgame before EGC's introduction. The old UI and offerings, which you'll see in a lot of my older DBD vids. I like the old maps better too before the long line of inferior redesigns.

The Pre 2.7.0 Hatch & Key spawn where Killers could grab you. It blew my mind the first time I got grabbed jumping in. You just had to be there at the time to experience that feeling. You could look for it and escape with your whole team which was a challenge to coordinate with both 4-man SWF escapes and almost impossible but still fun to try with solo Q pubs.

Moris active after 1 hook on a survivor which was the killer equivalent of a key in terms of ending the match quickly. Decisive strike actually having power and identity as an offense perk before being neutered, stripped of its identity, mangled, and molded into an "anti-tunneling perk" ill-thought-out mess that it was never intended to be. Ruin in its earliest forms when it actually had power. Never forget my friend asking me what I was doing when "tapping the gen".

Good times from a time long gone :').

  • @Mushwin said:

Yes, agrees with this and the fact this is still allowed to happen, people had issues with survs not opening the gates and keeping the game going/hostage, yet that was fixed with killer able to open the gates now, but survs all been slugged on the floor, woot! and then it's frowned upon to dc and get timed out. Yeah peeps gonna be like, go do something else in the mean time, make a brew etc, but that isn't the point or fixing the issue, I am here and what to play a game, not be laid on the floor while time ticks away.

Exactly. Granted, there are multiple sides to this topic. Not everyone has the same desire to just "go do something" for 4 minutes. People have different opinions on what is a worthwhile investment of their time. If I'm being left to bleed out during a curb stomp then just let me go to the next game. Very few things are more demoralizing than having to wait on the ground to bleed out. Entity help you if you get left to bleed out across multiple games in a session.

  • @Dead_by_David17 said:

I just had a game where a Huntress decided to bm by nearly letting me bleed out while shaking her head, throwing her hatchets at me and doing that stupid walk-back-and-forth-over-my-body-t bag thing, wasting me and my friends time because she felt the need to be toxic over me stunning her one too many times.

She mopped the floor with us at 5 gens because our 4th teammate was a random and practically acted as a 2nd killer, as well as having every meta perk in the book on a killer sided map etc etc. so there was no reason for this unprovoked behavior other than to throw salt into our wounds over being """"outskilled"""".

Anyway, that's all just to set up my idea that there should be some way to force a bleed out if you've been slugged for longer than at least 1 or 2 minutes. There's no reason to be on that ground for that long other than the killer not being able to find you or them simply BMing.

If that's not feasible, maybe reduce the bleed out timer.

Of course the finishing mori system could easily remedy this instead, but with how things turned out in that regard I'm not positive it'll return.

I agree. Nothing worse than having a killer waste your time for 4 minutes. It's unacceptable that we don't even have a system in place to kill you faster if you're slugged as the last surv alive. I understand the finisher mori was supposed to do something similar, but imo it goes about it in all the wrong ways. I'm typically against removing player agency.

I've toyed with the idea of a button-decreasing bleed-out timer. The thing is it would need a countermeasure in place to curb abuse like we see with Hook suicides. One possible solution on that end could be reducing the timer, only shaving off roughly 2 minutes tops.

Another idea would be implementing some form of a surrender vote that awards the winning side with the appropriate BP and emblem points, while the surrendering side receives reduced performance rewards. If I'm in a losing game and for all purposes, the writing is on the wall, why should I have to continue to waste my time? Same for if a killer slugs and refuses to pick up for 4 minutes, or vice versa gens are flying faster than you can get downs & hooks.

  • OP I want you to read your question again and think long and hard about it. Now, do you see how ridiculous this suggestion sounds after reading it again?

  • This is only a small personal grievance that is probably only important to me. Made more sense to post it here than make a new thread about it. That being said, ######### BHVR.

I booted up the ol' DBD machine so I can put in some BP codes and this is what I'm greeted with when I log in. This Marketing mumbo jumbo bullshittery message appeared. I declined of course, and that's where our story begins.

Now, it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't make it seem like it was an option to not consent. Like But alas, they tied it into the privacy policy, so it's like being strongarmed into signing over data just to do anything other than see the tutorial. Why? I get that they have things on privacy in ToS, but why for something as minute as this sounds am I, as a player, being forced to give marketing consent just to even see the campfire screen?

The interaction should be like this:

"BHVR: Hey, our marketing team would like to learn more about the effectiveness of online marketing activities, do you consent to give them your data?"

"Player: No, I do not consent to provide the requested private data"

"BHVR: That's no problem at all. Have a good day"

They go and gather their marketing data from other players who have consented, and you go on your way playing the game. Easy.

INSTEAD! You cannot play, browse store, change outfits, look at the campfire screen, or do anything unless you hand over your data. Like, why even have an OPT-IN when there isn't really any other OPTION?

Looks like I won't be playing this weekend purely out of spite for this tomfoolery. Sure we may live in a world where privacy has gone by the waist side for convenience, but this still rubs me all the wrong ways. It's akin to needing your research credits for Psych 101. Only you don't get the $25 Nando's gift card after participating. You just get 3-gen'd for an hour by SM.

What I've been doing lately is counterplaying her from my desktop. Instead of double clicking Dead by Daylight, I double click another game, or play something else on my PS5. This 3 gen is easily avoidable by not loading up DbD in the first place. Or, if I do load up DbD, I play killer instead of survivor. But under no circumstances am I playing solo survivor until this awful killer is reworked.

Edit: Yo post that end-game pig build of yours. I'm going to try it out on pig. It was like Blood Warden, Fired Up, No way out, and something else

  • Dredge mains too busy admiring their S-tier skin collections, 61% kill rate, and undying love and support from Huntress mains because of the staple perk he added to their lineup. Now they can eat through distortion stacks like Beerus to Earth food.

  • 1) As killer: what is the proper etiquette if a survivor is afk at the beginning of the match? Do you go slug them and leave, hit them once and leave, ignore them and chase the teammate, down them and hook them?

Down and put em on the meat hook. Soft camp until a teammate arrives.

    2) As killer: do you give the last survivor hatch if they stop wiggling on your shoulders/is the last one left or do you fight for the 4k?

Put em on the meat hook and smack them a few times to wish them good luck on their next game

    3) As survivor: what is the proper etiquette when you open the exit gate? Do you farm with the killer? Offer your item? Do the butt dance to rub it in?

Sit close to the exit, T-bag, and point at the killer repeatedly. Do a few spins while crouch spamming, Maybe a saucy 360 when they swing to hit you out. It's sweeter when they whiff the hit inside the exit too.

    4) For both: if a survivor disconnects do you show mercy and farm or just finish the game as quickly as possible?

Show no mercy for 2 hook states on each survivor and then take the foot off the gas. Farm, but make it inconspicuous. Never let them know your next move.

    5) For both: if a survivor offers their item do you show mercy or hook them regardless?

Shake your head and down them because they didn't give boopers. Items are for now, but boops are forever.
