So the Killer laughed at the bug? And that makes him guilty of abusing it? Again: THE KILLER DID NOT MAKE THE GLITCH HAPPEN. How do we know he did not walk up, hit the guy, and then walk away while the guy was still stuck?

So no, the Killer is not guilty of abusing a bug because HE DID NOT MAKE THE BUG HAPPEN.

He's guilty of being a jerk, but that's not bannable. And lots of people here are screaming for him to be banned.

I just went back through the comments and no one is screaming for anything, people are just discussing if it is or not a bannable offense.

I do believe that a full context is required in order to ask for a ban. But you just came here pointing fingers at survivors for being entitled to ask for ban. I dont see nothing wrong in pointing out this type of behaviour, because lets face it if he did to survivor he can just as easily do it to a killer aswell. My bet is that your opinion will not be the same if the situation would be affecting a killer.

@Clevite A top tier killer should have to sweat against a top tier group of survivors, of course. The problem is that a group of top tier survivors never has to sweat. Somewhat hyperbolic, but the sentiment is accurate - in a game of equal "skill" level, the killer will have a much harder time than the survivors. That is not healthy.

@MyersRulz No, the forum is not representative of the community as a whole, but it's a useful place to gather info about the game in the aggregate. One bad restaurant review about the awful chicken fingers could be a one-off - someone had a bad night, different tastes for different people, etc. But if there are tons of bad reviews about the chicken fingers it's an indication that something is off.

If I had visited the forums and seen how every other post seems to be how a killer either just gets absolutely boned in the current meta, a story about a killer defying the odds of... being matched with four survivors trying to "escape," or incessant complaining about tunneling/camping (a symptom of poor balancing, not a problem in and of itself), I probably wouldn't have purchased the game - even though when I bought it I was hoping to play survivor. That's on me. But I don't want people to stop because it could help other people interested in a 4v1 asymmetric horror game, which, at this point, Dead by Daylight is certainly not.

Fair enough and with that i agree to a certain point.

But if people could come and make points like you do maybe every post wouldnt look like a bad yelp review.

I don't see anything wrong with feedback, though this should be in the feedback section. I take part in many gaming forums, and most have rules against leaving posts unless they also offer valuable feedback -- and are also labeled as feedback. I think this one does everything but the latter. It's not a post just saying "game bad", it's a post explaining why it became bad for them and saying some things they'd like to see.

However like most leaving posts, OP should consider perhaps they are also burnt out as well. There is a solution for this too if you're on Steam: Check profiles with friend's list. I don't go against 3-4 man SWF teams because my experience has been bad with them as well.

Really good take, i didnt meant to say that everyone here just come to whin, i know that people can get frustrated and thats totally fine, but it gets to me sometimes just seing people post the same thing over and over again.

I felt bad this happened one time in a game I was killer I had no idea guy got stuck so I went off got the other guy down next thing I know said guy dcs so other guy can get hatch but unknown to him or me other guy was stuck under hook so he also dcs then I’m told by them both I’m a bunch of bad words so I didn’t feel bad anymore after their behavior and the leaving yet I could have helped him out of under the hook and got him hatch

That is what the killer of this post should have done, but he instead decided to mock the person that was stuck. It sucks though that they were asses to you since you only had good intentions.

Except there's no proof he abused the bug other than Survivors claiming 'he tried to win after the bug happened' and the Killer saying 'So what?'

Just because the bug HAPPENED does not mean the Killer had to throw the game for the Survivors, and he in no way made the bug happen.

So while he was a jerk, he was not 'abusing a bug' or 'holding the game hostage' (as someone ELSE claimed in here) and y'all need to stop screaming for his head. It's pure entitlement to say 'he abused it because he did not stop playing'.

Except that there is partial proof since he admitted to knowing that he was stucked and then proceed to mock him. Now if he didnt even try to help (wich we dont know) it can can clasify as griefing too and most definitly as abusing a bug because he intentionaly left him out of the game wich is taking advantage over a bug to gain a competitive lead.

And can you please cut it out with the entitlement #########, no one cares that he is targeted because he is a killer, people are just pointing out that he can possibly be abusing the bug and that behaviour like that should be bannable. The "killer vs survivor" narrative doesnt apply on this situation.

Why do people leave bad Yelp reviews?

If I had been smart I'd have looked at the forums before I bought the game just to see the lay of the land. I didn't expect a perfect game of course (4v1 games are incredibly difficult to balance well) but I legitimately had no indication that the game would pretty much always be scarier (or at least anxiety inducing) as a killer than a survivor from anything put out by their marketing. It's almost absurd, at this point - like a parody of a horror game.

I haven't quit, though I'm playing much less, because I think the bones are there for the game that was advertised to me and would be fairly easy to fix. I try to post with constructive criticism and ideas for making the game better, because it's the most direct way to having a voice heard by people that can change anything (even if the chances of that are negligible).

That being said, I don't mind the frustrated posts looking for validation from people who have had enough. People don't like being fooled.

I would agree with you but the game population and the forum population are two different entities in the community.

This forum like every other one, serves as a place to leave your questions, suggestions, frustrations, etc. But not because something is a trend here it means that it aplies to every person that play this game.

The people that post here is just a part of total population, i just recently started to interact with this forum only because sometimes is hard to believe that the people posting here even play this game. All the people that i know that play this game dont even bother coming here, some arent even aware that this forum even exist. And thats because they just play the game.

I see no problem in trying to make constructive criticism, but here it just looks that people only come here to whin about that one game that they couldnt win because "game bad me good how did i lose". If you dont enjoy the game, just leave man maybe it will get better in the future.

When did this discussion turn into "you are biased, this is what it is about". And also,i know the moment someone starts saying stuff like dumb, blind and so on I can tell that whatever I say you'll just backtrack on ur other "arguments" and tell me i'm biased over and over again and i can't change ur mind. And most of this thread agrees with me aswell, pretty sure. Only 1 other person said i'm biased also. No one else directly told me i'm biased. Some people replied, but they weren't unreasonable and classified someone as biased just because i took the side of survivors in this post specifically. Won't reply further, don't want to waste time replying anymore.

I dont get why you even bothered to follow up on those replys, both of them just shifted this post onto a "killer vs survivor" topic when it was clearly about someone that abused a bug and if he deserves the ban or not.

No one expect the killer to not end the match, OP complained because the Nurse didn't end the match immediatly.

OP said, the Killer didn't try to hit him and waited intentionally a few minutes to close the hatch. Sadly there is no video so we don't know what happened exactly. Of course it is possible that the Nurse wanted to hit him, it wasn't possible, she killed the other survivors and closed the hatch. But we have no Video so we can only trust OP's version of the story.

You said that sometimes a killer can't hit the survivor under the hook, but wouldn't you try atleast? Hitting a survivor is the Killer's job and if I would see a survivor just standing there it would be the first thing that I would try.

The Nurse didn't. Maybe your right and hitting wasn't possible, but if it was, that was the first moment were she could have ended the game (atleast for the survivor who was stuck) but didn't, the next was when she didn't close the hatch immediatly.

Obviously it is hard to say what is holding the game hostage or griefing, because there is a grey area, but Peanits said it's reportable, if a killers blocks a survivor in the corner till the end of the game before egc starts, even though that isn't technically holding the game hostage, so I would assume that the behaviour of the nurse could be criticall. Obviously not without a video though.

As for the general situation: It is (or was, I'm not sure) possible for a Killer to get stuck at a three. The only way to get free was to pick up a survivor. So let's say a killer gets stuck on a three, the survivors see it, finish the gens as quickly as possible and leave. There would be nothing wrong with it right? Maybe they don't know how you can save the killer and you can't expect them to give themself to the killer for free. But what is, when the survivors see the stuck killer, dance around him for a bit (like 2 or 3 minutes, annoying, but technically not holding the game hostage) then finish the gen, leave and mock the killer in the endgame chat. Wouldn't you say that behaviour should be punished, even if it doesn't fall directly into a reportable category?

As for you comparison to general BM: You can still play the game, someone teabagging you or hitting you on the hook doesn't take your ability to act, so it's a different situation imo.

Yeap i think this pretty much summarize my thoughts on this. Also under the game "Exploits" section of the rules on this forum, it clearly states that abusing an in game bug to gain a competitive advantage is a bannable offense. So if there is footage of the nurse not trying to hit the survivor, then its pretty much case closed since he admited that he knew that he was stucked.

Title is mostly a joke but ya majority of my games are against red ranks. But today was weird. Like that game for instance lasted like 4 minutes they didn't even do a gen. Trapper on Lerys.

Ok dude, sorry if a came a little hostile there but some people on this forum try to make it look like the matchmaking is completely broken (i mean it is kind of broken sometimes). And yes depending on what color of the rainbow you are it can be pretty holarious or pretty annoying.

  • @shane32 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1347696#Comment_1347696

I had one sweaty match today the rest looked like this....now granted not this crappy but still all Rainbow.

I believe you man i also had days with lots of rainbow matches, but whenever i see a post like this showing just one match and a title like yours gives the impression that its always like this, wich its not true and its incridibly misleading.

  • Yep another cherry picked match that happens one every ten matches.

  • Imo the mindset that some people have with this game (that being that some people find this game "competitive") directly correlates with the frustration they encounter playing at higher ranks.

Since this game has a very low skill ceiling is very easy to be decent and perfom well at lower ranks, making you feel that you are very good at the game. The fact that you can just get to red ranks just by playing regularly makes me think that some people believe that they are top % players just by being on red ranks (and we all know that ranks dont really represent skill) so whenever they find a decently coordinated group of survivors that stomps them they feel entitled to that win thinking that they lost only because of balance issues or SWF.

Dont get me wrong i do believe that the game need some balance, but compared to what it used to be i think that we are in a decent spot balance wise.

As some already said, people shouldnt take matches so seriously, sometimes it makes me think that people thing they are playing a ranked match on CSGO or LoL.

  • @Loner said:

Why do people have the need to do these "I'm qutting the game" types of posts? Why would you need to make a post like that publicly, never saw the reasoning behind it except to start a us vs them type of thread or something similar and just purely ######### on the devs and the game.

I dont get it either man, but my guess is that some people are just a little insecure and they have the need to put there thoughts out there in order to get validation.

Also there are a lot of trolls that just love seing people fight over this kind of topic.

  • I just dont get it, whats even the point of this post, just another "empathize with me and validate my points so we can ######### talk this game together". If you are so fed up with this game just quit.

Now if you want to suggest a new game and want some company then why dont you do a post recluting people. Dont come here saying "you shouldnt play this game cause i dont like it therefore no one should like it" thats just sad.

    Ahem:

League of legends does not inherently require skill

Counterstrike does not inherently require skill

Both of those games are esports played professionally. The reason professional play requries skill is because the other players are optimized to the point of crushing anyone without skill. However that's circumstantial, not something inherent to the game itself. That same set of circumstance that comes from optimization of your opponent also applies to Dead By Daylight, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Monopoly ect. The games difficulty is entirely dependent on your opponents ability to counter your strategies.

Well you are not wrong, but we go back to the definitions and dictionary cards again, what you say is true but as you said, under that definition anything can be competitive, also you dont really need skill on anything in order to participate, thats correct you only need knowledge and the rules or mechanics of the game. But comparing cs go or league to dbd is just way too much of a stretch. In both of those games the skill ceiling is way too high compared to dbd.

  • @ytduh said:

man you serious? i think this is easiest tps/fps game as pvp game

yes people have to gather lots of information before play this game, but its not any harder to learn compare wallshot or frag spots in csgo

or even simple most important managing recoil and aiming or timing requires much more physical sense,

this game requiring minimum physical to incoursing objects and timing, which all up to player's situation reading and not so busy fingers

did you ever saw any bronze or silver league gamer who absolutely no talent in games can go master or somewhat in other game?

this game is only game its possible, because this is easy party game for any serious players

Yep exactly this, im currently silver 2 on league and i got to rank 1 here effortlessly within the first month playing this game.

Look. I just want people to use the terms right.

This has came up in the past and makes it much harder to discuss this sort of thing.

    Fair enough.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1341071#Comment_1341071

Yes but talking about competitive in terms of esports makes it hard to talk about it in terms of a competition as opposed to cooperative.

It's just easier to communicate a variety of ideas if we all stick to the proper definitions.

And i would agree with you if the definition of the words was on debate, but its pretty darn clear that what people are debating here is more focused on game mechanics, fairness, balance, etc. So to me when people use the dictionary card it feels that they just want to win the argument rather than discuss it.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

The opposite of competitive is not casual, it's cooperative.

The opposite of casual is not competitive, it's hardcore.

Mario party is a casual competitive game

League of legends is a hardcore competitive game

Animal crossing is a casual cooperative game

Dark Souls is a hardcore cooperative game (give or take a few mechanics involving optional PvP)

I see alot of people here playing the dictionary card to prove their point and thats fine dont get me wrong but i think when we are talking about "Casual" or "Competitive" we dont really mean the literal sense of those words. I think its pretty evident that what most here mean is competitive in a "esports tournament ready" way.

  • Yeah i see where OP comes from but unfortunately just because you see yourself playing at a competitive level doesnt really mean that the game fits a competitive field. As many already pointed out there are just way too many factors that makes this game more of a casual game rather than a competitive one. Alot of people here have pointed out the rng aspect but i think that the most obvious thing to look at is the balancing around the new and casual players. The dev team has made clear with each update that they are more focused on balancing for fun rather than hardcore playstyles. They also already stated that they will be removing the ranking system (i know that ranks doesnt really reflect skill but if they are removing it they are clearly making a more casual look to the game) so they can replace it with a hidden mmr system which if it is hidden it means that you shouldnt really care who you are playing against which to me looks like a very casual way to play against people.

  • I completily agree with OP, i myself see them as handicap tools and i think they work just as intended. Now yes is possible to use them as toxic tool also but that can be said with a lot of things in this game.

  • My take on this is that both of this tools generate and unintended use, and that would be a handicap mechanic. If the devs didnt intended for this at least they had in mind that they would work to somewhat level they playing field and in my mind i think they work just fine.

I dont really mind them at all, i really suck as a killer and whenever i reach lower green ranks and sometimes purple ranks i struggle so moris really help to get the upper hand. Keys i dont care because im a better survivor and i never had the need to use them. And whenever im on the other end of the mori or key i cant complain since i use moris often.

The only thing i would change is that they shouldnt be available on higher ranks, because lets be real if you rely on them to win on higher ranks you dont deserve to be on them.

  • Unpopular opinion but i think that both keys and moris are fine for what they are, and in my eyes that would be handicap tools, both are table turners and work just as intended. Moris give you easy pressure and keys grant you a free escape. The only change that i would make is that they shouldnt be available on highers ranks, because lets be real if you rely on keys and moris to win on highers ranks you dont really deserve to be on them.

  • What a long way of saying that you didnt actually try the killer, maybe instead of making such an elaborated and misleading post you could use the time to actually play against him and learn the counterplay.
